Seun Osewa, all the Christian threads I've seen here today reek of obscenities, blasphemy against Jesus Christ that some of us believe in. I've never considered leaving Nairaland but today, I considered it for a moment. I don't know how to unread some of the things I've read.
Enable a comment check like you did for Muslim threads otherwise I'll see you as encouraging profanity against Jesus Christ. This is one ridicule too many! |

GloriousGbola: really?
who fixed all the roads in VI? i was working in vi in 2001 all the roads had gone to shit. it would take you an hour to get out of vi did marwa also fix the bar beach? did marwa introduce lastma, which brought sanity to most parts of Lagos? and the marwa you are celebrating while he did well, cleaned out lagos treasury. or do you know about albarka air? did you actually live in lagos during the tinubu years?
the irony that people like you dont realise is that tinubu actually fought nurtw and lost before coming to terms with the fact that you cant beat a union in a democracy
in 2002 as an example, tinubu chased nurtw out of VI and brought in cross country buses to run cms-vi traffic. it was a complete failure. and in a month the yellow buses were back - but painted white
People like to knock tinubu and claim he did nothing, but lagos is the only state with a continnum - where each governor built on what was done by his predecessor. which is how it should be. the actual deviation was ambode, who had beef with fshola and abandoned everything being done by fasholas admin. look at every other state in nigeria - even states run by the same party do not have any continuity - if a project is not completed by an adminstartion, that is where it ends Oh! I wish I can give you a bear hug right now. That Gen Z that you quoted, him papa na NRC, PDP; they're not progressives and he must have listened to too many tales by moonlight from him. I was serving when Tinubu was Lagos Governor. I returned from service and couldn't recognize some of the roads anymore - Ikeja, Ojota, Ogudu etc. I marvelled at the transformation. Tinubu's tenure was when I witnessed workers (dunno whether it was called LAWMA at the time) come to every house, clear the gutter and pack it at no cost. The last time that happened was when I was in primary school, playing barefooted on the streets. When Grandpa Obasanjo seized allocation meant for Lagos State, Tinubu looked inwards and generated revenue, that's creativity. Lagos is too cosmopolitan a state for some power-drunk HOS to hold to ransom. Many governors today will crumble if they don't get federal allowy. They collect today without accounting for it. They just collect and collect. Their people should demand for accountability! That Ambode ehn! I fit stone am if I see am! Greediness will not let him consolidate on what Fashola has done. You belong to the same party, your ideologies should be the same or similar. He came and disrupted many things. He tampered with the water system by metering it. That's no problem, only it didn't work! He scattered LAWMA! Lagos was very dirty under Ambode. We were practically walking on accumulated rubbish on the streets of Obalende, Idumota, Oyingbo. The rubbish had piled up and spilled over to the roads causing traffic mayhem. Ambode thwarted with institutions that were working just to enrich himself. If you will bring a change, make things better not worsening it. The thing is many people know these things, but it massages their ego to just look away. Na so! |

NoToPile: It's a give and take situation, you can't claim your wife is not your blood, hate her family and expect her to love yours.
Also your family can't be oozing hatred towards the wife and expect her to love them. Respect them she will because she wants to keep her marriage but that love can not happen.
We are humans, we will always react subconsciously.
My cousin's wife saw hell from my other older female cousins you know when females with one rich brother gang up against a wife, then they labeled her a bad wife, transferred their hatred even to the children.
Incidentally the same 'bad wife' loves me and my mum like mad always asking when we would come visit but she was always dreading their own visit.
The day she narrated to me all what they did to her she broke down in tears, this woman is about 20years older than me.
Years have passed but the crack has not been mended their children are all in the uni now but the crack is still there.
Wife-inlaw relationships needs a lot of improvement in Naija, some families are getting it right though.
Until you as an inlaw sees that wife as a daughter or a new sister and that husband as a son or a brother. Things won't get better. Your comment drew tears from my eyes. Yes, the crack don't always go away. I was pregnant after the first year of marriage but it was a traumatic one which I eventually lost. It was life threatening so the doctors took it away. I was bedridden for months in the hospital. Some of my husband's family members don't live far away from us, maybe two or three bus stops away but I never saw any of them all through. The one that managed to call said something mean to me on my sick bed. I couldn't tell my husband or mum what he said cause they'd both raise hell. I sucked it in. Since then, I kept to myself. What did I ever do for them to hate me that much? My MIL was alive then but very old and wasn't even conscious of her environment anymore. I totally absolve her of any blame. Even while she was still herself, she was a good woman. I can't say the same for the rest of them. It's been years but the crack won't just go away. I don't feel comfortable to be in the same gathering with them. I hide myself to stay sane. |

MisterBanny: I always kept wondering about this. I have seen many homes break as a result of marrying a woman who despises her In-laws, and treats them with levity and disdain, yet claims to love her husband genuinely. A once happy family could be in total disarray immediately some women get into that family. Personally, I think if u love your husband, such love should be extended to every member of his nuclear and extended family members and same goes to the Man. I believe that genuine LOVE is infectious and contagious. I have seen a lot happening In today's marriages that I'm already scared of getting married. People can pretend throughout the dating and courting period, but immediately after the wedding, the beast and monster in them begin to Manifest. It's scary.
Almost all married woman are guilty of this. But the men almost do not have any issue with Loving their wive's families. It even gets to the ugly point that, the wife makes a decree that no menmber of the man's family must ever visit them to stay for more than a day or two. What amount of research has gone into this your biased write-up? You obviously are soooo naive and myopic. You would do better in the future if you do a thorough analysis before jumping to conclusions on any issues for that matter. I don't hate my husband's family, I will not jump the moon for them either. I try to be civil with them. That's the level we are now. It hasn't always been like that. We were cool, really cool or maybe I was the one thinking we were cool until they showed their true colour. You'd think it could be as a result of what I did or said but it's none of the above. That was why it hit so badly I felt betrayed. I was heartbroken and just went into my shell. I withdrew from everything and everybody. My husband is a good man. He knows me, I am an introvert so I don't even talk much. He tried to shield me from any more hurt and he was cool with how I decided to handle it. It's like you dancing in a city where you are not loved, you will soon be shamed! I don't want to be shamed so I ran away. I don't go visiting them, I don't attend family functions, (Event melo ni Jero mi nlọ tẹlẹ) I don't call. If they visit, I am civil. I offer them what I have and disappear to the rooms. My husband bonds well with them, he's their son. Of course they have disagreements here and there but that's normal. My family has a good relationship with my husband, especially my mum. They've been exceptionally great together even before I was married. My dad takes my husband out to go drink, just the two of them and my siblings, (they're much younger) answer seven times if he calls them once. My side of the divide go all out to love my husband. God is the overall being who watches over the affairs of men. He will judge us all accordingly. I know I didn't wrong them in any way. Of course they're trying to make up now but I'm like WTF did I do! |

Despite everything, we love Nigeria
Economical travails, insecurity, corruption, bad governance, tribal and religious clashes haven't diminished our love for our nation.
If we all could not bear to watch the Super Eagles fail, such that our hearts were in our mouths while the match lasted, then it only means one thing; We love Nigeria.
In the spirit of patriotism, Please do what you can, no matter how little or inconsequential it may seem, to help Nigeria stand again. Just do your little part. I will do mine.
