Charlesdock: Am a christian and am not a racist. Racism doesn't apply to a particular religion but to every one of us. If you have a problem with christianity please don't let that problem come in between you and the truth. Racism is everywhere no matter whether you're religious or not. Read the topic carefully. It says that religious folks are ' MORE LIKELY' to be racist. I doesn't say that they are racist by default, but their bigoted patterns of thinking makes them more likely to view people of different races in the same way they view and condemn people of different religions. |

Muafrika2: He is saying, in my understanding, you are not your physical body. Your body is just a temple housing a being. The being is the consciousness, your thoughts, beliefs, understanding. The body remaining the only vessel in which your consciousness can exist in this life time, till death. And again, these are nothing but romantic fantasies, offering no evidence. Consciousness develops within, with the body, not prior to the body. Likewise, our thoughts, beliefs, knowledge and understanding develop from the simple, and then continually evolve and become more complex as the body grows and matures. |

DeepSight: Use your hands to touch your physical head. Touch it all round - from the back of your head, to your ears, to the top of your head, then to your temples, feel your eyes, nose, lips and chin. Circle the jaws and back to the back of your head.
What have you just touched and groped?
A Visor. A helmet-like instrument designed to help the being within perceive its outer physical world. This object will be taken off at death along with the rest of the instrument - the body: and the real being will exist in its real transcendental reality.
This is virtual reality. A simulated game we enter into at birth and be done with at death. Nothing you see in this world is real. It's all a simulation which we will step out of at death. Sounds romantic. Sounds reasonable. But, but there is no evidence for your assertions, if I may call them that. Until such a time that we have evidence, the above are nothing but speculations, just another subset of illusions that you are attempting to create. It's very important , my wordy friend, to be clear about your own thoughts, speculations, hypothesis, etc, about the UNKNOWNS, and what are evidence based KNOWNS. |

You truncated a corrupt civilian government only to create an avenue for an even more corrupt one to come to the fore
You hounded corrupt politicians while taking care of 53 suitcases
it is therefor no wonder that contrary to your claim of 'purity' (aided by your gaunt physique) you were able to send 6 of 8 children abroad to school hence your inability to make public your asset declaration as promised by yourself
You are #CleanSweepBuhari a la Jeffrey Archer Just imagine the sheer arrogance of that dumb ass. " I was overthrown". Who the fxxx elected you to be head of state in the first place ? Aren't you guilty of treason ? Have you been held accountable for your treason and the trajectory of unending disasters it put this country through ? |

plaetton: What I am saying, which I trust that you fully understand, is that something like death, the cessation of life, what happens at moment of death , and afterwards, cannot be fully explained until an individual experiences the very phenomenon of death.
Everything woven around the phenomenon are simply legends, myths and illusions.
For example, I imagine you as a lanky, tall, dark complexion man with a slightly receding hairline. I imagine you to be somewhat snobbish and introverted , until you reach a level of comfort with people , before you liven up to unleash your WORD SORCERY on hapless souls. Deepsight is real. But these are my illusions of Deepsight.
Only the EXPERIENCE of meeting you in person would prove these illusions right or completely wrong. Correction: Even the idea that Deepsight is real is also illusion. Deepsight is actually an illusion. Deepsight is a fake name. For all we know, anyone of the 7 billion people on Earth could be masquerading as Nairaland Deepsight. In fact, we cannot even rule out the fact that Deepsight might be posting threads from another planet or Galaxy system. I mean, his WORD SORCERY is evidence of something spooky and out of this reality. |

This is not to say that imaginations are the same thing as the illusion that we discuss here. What I am saying, which I trust that you fully understand, is that something like death, the cessation of life, what happens at moment of death , and afterwards, cannot be fully explained until an individual experiences the very phenomenon of death. FFK was in government for 6 years under GEJ and he said NOTHING about the Fulani herdsmen's slaughter of Christian Nigerians. In addition, during this period he said NOTHING about the poor federal roads. Now, that he is facing charge of serious corruption , FFK has found 'Jesus.' He now considers himself the champion of the masses. These elites believe that the masses are foolish - and based on what I have seen on NL, I think the elites are right. History has put FFK in an opportune position to be the voice of embarrassed, the harassed, the scared and the deceived Masses. He and Fayose have become the lone voices in a confused and fragmented wilderness. FFK, Fayose and Wike have become the TRIUMVIRATE, the three-man opposition, the only oppositions to the new tyranny of Buhari and his APC. The proof of this is that they have become the three most harassed, surveilled and intimidated individuals by an insecure tyrannical government. Great respects to FFK, governors Fayose and Wike, the Three Sentinels of Nigeria's democracy. |

Dear Woke Soyinka,
Many of us who grew up seeing you as living God now feel very embarrassed when you speak.
You no longer have the spark. Perhaps old age, and benign dementia, coupled with your bad-belle politics has taken the spark from your intellect.
These days, you're most interested in hearing the sound of your own voice, than in providing intellectual nourishment to the millions of old and young who have followed you along your fruitful career.
Might I suggest that you stick to what you how to do best: Playwriting, and leave national and international discourse to those with a broader mind. Thank you. 2 Likes |

Now that scientific tests( the only test that matters) has confirmed that it is indeed natural Rice, any other utterances to discredit the Rice is just the silly customs officials trying to save face for their knee-jerk , idiotic pronouncement on the matter prior to any scientific tests. Rice is rice. What the official' s definition of "Wholesome " ? As long as the rice doesn't contain harmful chemical preservatives, it is fit for consumption. Unless the correct duties were not paid for this shipment of Rice, the customs ought to release this shipment as soon as possible, in the interest of fairness , equity and justice. |

honeychild: Nope that is not the spirit of one Nigeria. As long as you remain insular and refuse to allow non igbos to do the same in Igbo land, trying to do the same in another land is not unity, it is an attempt at domination. There is no record of a non-Igbo ever trying to vie for office in Igboland, and getting hostility or push back from Igbos. It has never happened. Come to think of it, aside from few Housas , or those employed in federal security services, there are hardly any non Igbo settlers in any part of Igboland. And that has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with native hostility. Again, there absolutely no history of native hostility against non Igbos in any part of Igboland. If other Nigerians are afraid to live or invest in Igboland, it is not because of anything that Igbos or Igbo communities have done in the past. |

JackBizzle: So Mark Zuckerberg, just like Bull Gates, threw atheism under a bus by saying that he is not an atheist.
When Zuckerberg made the comment that he is not an atheist on facebook, a lot of Nigerian christians ran to Nairaland to mock atheists and laugh. Seun Osewa, whom I respect so much, made the mistake of answering the christians- who then rejoiced at his "painment"/"butthurt".
However, the joke still remains on christians or religious Nigerians. The reason I say this is because most Nigerians are not intelligent enough to ask "WHAT RELIGION OR BELIEF DOES MARK ZUCKERBERG NOW FOLLOW SINCE HE IS NOT AN ATHEIST"?
I truly wonder why so many christians do not realise that in rushing to mock atheists over Zuckerberg, they have shown their insecurity and ignorance over what belief entails.
One should realise that Zuckerberg never stated what his beliefs are clearly.
-Mark Zuckerberg could be a satanist -Mark Zuckerberg could be a sango worshipper -Mark Zuckerberg could be a Buddhist -Mark Zuckerberg could be a Shintoist. -Mark Zuckerberg could be a Deist.
Mark Zuckerberg could be a secular humanist as well (a secular religion/philosophy?)- which would not put him far from atheism/agnosticism.
To all the christians and religious folks that rushed to mock atheists, please learn to have the intelligence to read between the lines. Many people make diplomatic comments just to avoid conflicts. Also learn to have the patience and intelligence to learn how to ask important questions- because, a further question should have been put to Zuckerberg- "What are your beliefs"?
As for the issue of "reading between the lines", Zuckerberg lives in a religious (heavily christian populated) country and was asked a question about religion, at a religious time (Christmas holiday)- did you expect him to make an irreligious statement and lose customers? Even I would deny atheism if i had many christian customers at christmas! Just like how many christians piss their pants and deny Jesus when ISIS comes knocking on their door
Shalom! Happy new year in advance! Exactly. In my business, 98℅ of my customers/ clients are religious people. I dare not tell them that I am atheist. If I do that, Na 'm be say market don spoil. I follow them to say Amen when prayers are invoked. You can't expect Zuckerberg to do bad PR for his multi-billion dollar business. Anyone who is IRRELIGIOUS is an atheist. |
