I think we actually need clarification on what contentment in this context means. |

toluxa1: This is the wrongest thing I have heard this year. So wrong and so senseless. How will someone same MOST people in nigeria make N20, N50, N100 a day. Bros wake up. Even people that pack shi.t make more than the National minimum wage monthly. What am I saying sef? The hagard looking guy who came to clear our suckaway collected 10k and finised in 5hours and said he was going for another job. That's 20k/per day. MTN or Zenith Bank can't pay you that. Not even NNPC. Go to the rural areas, they may not be rich but they have land and excess food to eat. I have said it at least twice this year, that the 70% of Nigerians live in poverty is a lie from the pit of hell. Guy, people spend money in this country all over. Now I have confirmation since even the world bank claims they have not stats.the statistic given is not limited, as you seem to imply, to only working Nigerians - or those that can work. The millions of jobless youths roaming the streets; the zillions of northern almajiris moving from house to house with their characteristic bowl looking for food, those in the rural areas with battalion of children to fend for, are all part of the statistics. . .abi them no be Nigerians? A demographic breakdown perhaps will give a clearer picture. I do agree however, that the 70% claim seems overestimated. lets face it, 150/day is roughly 4,500/month and yes it is seems inconceivable that any working Nigerian could be earning such ridiculously low amount. Then again, like I mentioned above, its not only about working Nigerians, so I won't be surprised if the actual figure is not too far off. |
pafestula: Best deal ever on NL, nice ride to be candid here, pls what is d engine capacity? 1.6, 1.8, 2.0 or what? And what year model is this pls?Jemby is known for bringing very good deals here especially golf 4, so I'm not surprised. @Jemby keep up the good work. ![]() |
938 persons kidnapped, N1.2 billion ransom paid in 8 months in South East1.2billion?? i.e roughly 1.3m per kidnapped person?? The figure is definitely far higher than that. when we hear of kidnappers demanding over 10m per person. |
getukudo: I know for a fact, am a christian too! But to be honest with you Christians spew a lot of thrash about other peoples religion! 90percent of christians worldwide and Nigerians spew a lot of thrash about peoples religion, even within us ourselves, a member of Christ embassy believes if you are not in his/her church then you are headed for doom, the Jevoh witnessess believe that if you are not a member of their church then you are headed for hell. There is no unity amongst the christians. The moslems have never put up a cartoon of Jesus christ before, which is a fact! Let's not start preaching the hate game here. Christians hate Muslims and all other religions, if you are not calling God's name then you are seen as an enemy.Really? Christians hate Muslims to point of wanting to take their lives? Kindly stop being mischievous. |

bittyend: The Op-ed (WTF is OP-ED?? its either an opinion or editorial shortened OP-ED by most newspapers) by the Dele Momodu guy (guy??) raised many points that need to be discussed. The rebuttal by the other Mallam(Jarus) is ridden (riddled) with personal attacks, grammatical errors, and poor grammatical structure. I don't know why most Nigerians don't proof-read (proofread - no hyphen)the articles they post in cyberspace. But hey, it's Nigeria and English isn't our first language; perhaps, that's why most articles on (in, not on - its not about Nigerian newspapers) Nigerian Newspapers are not appealing to the average English speaker.I would think the practice of 'proofreading ones article before posting in cyberspace' should start with those giving the timely advice, don't you think? @topic, |

And later we wonder how corruption will end. By the time these people make into the federal job, they must find a way of recouping their investment, by hook or crook. I was the ministry of justice recently to get some papers, but was dumbfounded the unbridled, brazen display by the staff there. You literally had to bribe your way through every step to get any thing done. Right from file retrieval to signature signing. truly pathetic. |
What's with Honda and its frequents recalls, especially this accord brand, undoubtedly their best selling model? I remember they had to do a similar recall for the Honda 2000-2001 model (baby boy) v6 engines, when it was discovered a majority of them were having gear problems. Is it that they don't run enough tests on the vehicles before they're pushed into the market? perhaps in order not be outdone by Toyota? They berra sit up before toyota takes over their market. Not that I particularly like Honda anyway. . . |

cotton101: lastpage - SMH its a real shame.did you read his post at all? where did he say it's 'normal' to beat one's wife? How could any sane man born of a woman describe such barbaric habit as normal? The summary is that a perpetually nagging wife with poor buccal cavity control or a serial wife beater both have issues requiring attention. Both are wrong and unacceptable. We run into trouble when we start trying to justify such idoitic behaviors from females: "that I nag and insult him does not give him any right to physically retaliate'' REALLY?? Why on earth would any sane woman, knowing that an unbridled tongue can cause problems for her still chose to give her mouth a free rein? Isn't that like a man arguing with another man holding a gun? Is that not insanity? If you feel its not your fault that you have a sharp mouth, then its not the husband's fault that he is unable to control himself when provoked. Is as simple as that. the bottom line is, neither should be condoned because neither is acceptable. |
