The specter of pre-electoral violence spiked today in Nigeria as another governorship candidate, Dr. Ayo Daramola was killed by hired assassins at 1:00 am in his home state of Ekiti.
Prior to his murder, Dr. Ayo Daramola was involved a race against incumbent governor, Ayo Fayose for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidature. Governor Fayose is currently mired in a huge corruption scandal threatening his chances for a second time in office.
The popular Ekiti PDP governorship aspirant, it was learnt, held a rally yesterday in the town where he told the people of his plan to improve their lot if elected governor of the state, come 2007. Investigations revealed further that Dr. Daramola resigned from his job at the Ekiti Poverty Relief Agency, (EKPRA), a World Bank funded project two months ago following persistent harassment and intimidation by the Governor Ayo Fayose-led administration in the state. Fayose, P.M.News gathered further, felt threatened by the laudable programmes carried out by EKPRA, led by Dr. Daramola, which included renovation of rural roads and markets, sinking of boreholes and construction of community centres for the rural poor. Fayose was alleged to have written many petitions to the head of the World Bank country office in Abuja, to remove Daramola from his post and send someone else to head the agency.
But rather than do the governor’s bidding, the World Bank cancelled the project in Ekiti State and moved Daramola to its head office in Abuja and appointed him a consultant. Prior to his killing, P.M.News gathered that Dr. Daramola had been threatened by supporters of Fayose to drop his governorship ambition or face the consequences. As a result of this, the late Daramola reportedly went on air, at both the state radio and television, to announce that he was no longer contesting. Not satisfied with this, a security report prepared by Fayose’s aides was said to have been presented to Daramola, asking him to leave the state for his safety.
Afraid for his life, the late Daramola ran to all the traditional rulers in the state, showing them the security report asking him to leave the state. The traditional rulers, it was learnt, met at the palace of the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejuyigbe, and advised the late Daramola to resign from his job with EKPRA. Following his resignation and knowing the circumstances under which he resigned, the World Bank recalled him to its Abuja office and made him a consultant. Before his death this morning, P.M.News gathered that supporters of Fayose had earlier attacked him in his house but he escaped. Investigations revealed further that Daramola’s decision to join the governorship race was influenced by some traditional rulers who prevailed on him to contest the election in 2007.
It was gathered that the murdered PDP aspirant printed his posters two weeks ago after he was presented to President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abuja as a replacement for Fayose in the 2007 election by top PDP chieftains in Ekiti. Meanwhile, riot has broken out at Ijan-Ekiti following the assassination of the PDP chieftain. Investigations this morning revealed that residents of the town had started burning houses of PDP chieftains in the town. The house of the PDP Chairman in the state, Chief Ropo Adesanya, has also been burnt, it was gathered.
There are also reports that the police in the state have arrested two of the hoodlums who participated in the attack on another PDP chieftain in the state, Mr. Taye Fasuba, last night. Fasuba, former Ado Ekiti council boss, was reportedly attacked in his home last night by people believed to be supporters of Fayose. The police said they have stepped up investigation into the murder of the aspirant.

I am a married Man with a Kid. Before marriage, my wife has a federal job outside Lagos while I run my business in Lagos. Due to Nigeria's economy, I asked her not to resign as she keeps working while I also keep on with my hustle. I have to be fair to her as she has been giving her all in this marriage and I so envy her strength to make things work despite the distance.

We had our first child last year and she is going to a year.. We both contribute financially and bring something to the table as we run 2 different homes.

I know she goes through a lot taking care of the baby without a car and I know how tedious it is for her to manage.

We are both young (I am 30 while she is 28)
We got our first few properties this January and we planning to do other things as we both bring money together to get things done.

We have plans of getting our first car within a month and my wife suddenly demanded that she also needs a car where she is due to the stress she goes through daily picking my child from creche and managing that with her own job. I asked that I employ a helper for her but she doesn't want.

She plans on getting the car within the next 2months with her own money. My issue is that I am business oriented and see it as a waste of money buying 2 cars when we can buy one and invest the money for the other one.

I am a Civil Engineer and my Job requires I get a car for mobility.
I feel guilty by trying to stop her from getting the car while I get mine and at the same time, if she get one I will also need to get.

I have been cracking my head up trying to see how we can go about it without hurting her and be fair to her as she is the best woman I can ever ask for.

What should I do, should we both get cars and let other stuffs take it course?

Sis, please stay safe. Always remember that you are literally living in a jungle, and make all plans and take steps for your security. I am glad you came out of the experience with good testimony. I returned to Nigeria a couple of years ago to incorporate and start a company. I stayed back for sometime just to hire the right people and get it off the ground. My sister, I cannot begin to tell you the things I have faced from every angle. Employees stealing is even a small thing. It is like everyone of the hired employees applied for employment with the singular intention of stealing. One of the employees was once caught carrying a ritual from the company premises; the dumb guy didn't realize there were cameras around... I had been approached by someone I once dashed money who instituted he must give me jazz, and the idiot actually brought the shit and entered my office with it. Told me it's for my protection, and he still hasn't forgiven me for asking him to carry his dirty confusion out of my office. He still holds a grudge... Not long after that the company was robbed. In total we have been robbed at least three times within the last few years.

Now I wonder if it's the big shots that caused these things, or the masses.

And with respect to guys wanting your money, please don't fall for their tales of woes. We men face these things all the time from girls... The strategy is to not give room for anyone to tell you sad stories. Nigerians take advantage of fellow Nigerians using sad stories all the time. I prefer to make money, invest in setting up companies and employ anyone who is interested and willing to work for money. No amount of gifting sad talebearers will solve their problems (if they truly have one).

And I wish you get a man that is truly worthy of you. . One that is not just your match, but that you can look up to. Once you are not desperate.

Last year biz was good for me but I kept low profile about it, so this year I made up my mind to renew And re-branded my office and biz just December last year / January just last month.
Mehn! Come and see attacks both verbally face to face and spiritually from a client . I was shocked, perplexed and I was like what's wrong with this lady? Does she know me before? Did I steal her husband or boyfriend that I'm not aware of? I couldn't even reply her back, I was just surprised the way she was attackin me angrily on top my own services I rendered to her and she was meant to pay me my balance . Later I realised strange things happening to my body that I don't even understand myself, after the verbal attack, Mehn I had to rush to my Pastor,after 4 days when I realised my prayers were no longer effective. And it's as if my body is becoming numb, like I'm carrying a concrete slab in my body. I was also looking bloated. I said this shiit is not ordinary.
Just one evening church service of holy communion and anointing service all the strange things I was feeling with spells of faints I was feeling vanished! I became strong again till today. Must better and stronger now and no more bloated and dull looking again.
I was like I knew, this is not ordinary. My God!

Do you know since the day the lady left my school angrily, she hasn't come back till date. I bet she's waiting to hear bad news from my office. But God in His infinite mercy has destroyed her plans against me.

I’ll try as much as possible to make this brief and short.
