Romance › Re: Why Do Guys Castigate Girls For Wanting To Date Only Rich Guys? by Powersurge: 8:50am On Jan 16, 2023
sqlPAIN:
This mentality is mostly common among Nigerian guys and honesty it's disgusting mentality to me...

I was watching a prank video on YouTube where a guy pretended to be an ice cream selling and tried to asked some girls out to see if anyone would give him a chance. Only about 2 girls out if like 12 he approached gave him their number. What I noticed in the comments section were comments of guys saying the two girls who gave him their number were real women and that the others were fake. I've seen a lot of guys even on nairaland here with such stuupidd mentality. Ask yourself this question, if you were an ice cream seller or a broke or poor man, Shey you go date yourself if you be woman ni?

If I find myself in such situations as a guy man, going into a relationship would not even cross my mind, not to talk of being the last thing on my mind. My biggest priority would be to hussle. Hussle and more hussle till I make enough to get myself a better life...

Abeg make una stop dey castigate women for wanting the best, it's human to want the best things and it's logical.
Women naturally marry upward (hypergamy). While I don't castigate this, I find it repulsive that men would make money only to marry downward (hypogamy).

The true weight of a relationship is tested by trials. While I don't subscribe to any woman "suffering with a man", of which the man could end up marrying someone else later, I equally finds it repugnant that a broke girl will be refering to a broke guy as "broke". And more appalling that men would live a single relatively financially stable woman to marry a broke girl after such man has been able to elevate himself.

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: My Experience As A Recruiter-chika Uwazie @chikauwazie by Powersurge: 8:28pm On Jan 13, 2023
DaBogu:
I am going to share my experience as a recruiter, hiring executive assistants for several clients. Some may not like what I have to say, but I can only speak my truth.

Do we have a major youth unemployment problem in Nigeria, yes we do. While there is a challenge of not enough positions aligned with educated youths, as a recruiter I have seen there is a portion of the youth that is not serious about employment. Almost a sense of entitlement.

Many Nigerian youths have access to data and social media. That is how people find me and apply to jobs. I would think during your idle time, you would take time and teach yourself new skills and level up. Unfortunately this is not the case for many candidates I interview.

Let's say I have 10 candidates that I want to interview. Only 5 of them will respond to my initial interview. The other 5 candidates never respond.

Out of the 5 candidates that respond to my email, only three of them will be able to demonstrate knowledge of excel and PowerPoint.

Once I meet them in person, two candidates will call me the day of the interview with one long story basically saying they can not come to the interview, and only one candidate will actually be ready to present to a candidate.

After going to this process over and over again, I have started to ask myself is it worth it? I want to help more Nigerians get jobs, but it's clear to me overall we are not serious.
ver 400 resumes I have for EA positions, only 50 resumes have been presentable to clients.

Nigerian youths if there is not anything else you get out of my message, you need to level up. The Nigerian education system is not preparing you for the workforce. Start teaching yourself basic etiquette of how to apply for a job and the interview process.

Stop sending emails with no subject title or body in the email. Then you attach your resume and expecting a positive response.

Stop embellishing your resume, only to find your are not anything close to what your resume presents.

Do not put a number on a resume that will be hard for a recruiter to reach you.

And finally, if you applied to a position you should be in your inbox more than social media. I can not tell you how many times I get an email from a candidate a week later saying they are just now seeing my email.
This is the cold hard truth. As much as I want to help Nigerian youths. Many of us are not prepared for employment.
Thank you for sharing your professional experience with us.

I have been able to quadruple my income since 2019 due largely to the level of skills I have acquired during the period.

Personally, I feel more and more youths are losing interest in 9-5.
Romance › Re: How Do I Convince My Boyfriend To Save In My Bank? by Powersurge: 10:45pm On Jan 12, 2023
Banilla:
Mods, take this to the front page. Thank you.

Hi everyone! I have a boyfriend, we've been together for a year. I absolutely love him, he's my whole world! And that's the reason I'm pressuring him to save, if we're going to have a future together. And he's down for it, he makes nothing less than 200k monthly. I'm still a student, searching for a decent job. I can't invest sh** presently but I hope to start soon. Yesterday, I brought it up. I want him to send money monthly to my bank account, no matter how little. I'll save it for him. He's hesitating. He said I should be patient, he'll give me everything I need but he wants more time. I don't want to ruin our relationship but I need his co-operation. I'm scared he might leave me, after I've given him the best years of my life. I subtly threatened him that my family would force me to marry a Nigerian but he made a joke out of it, saying I would never, that I'm his... embarassed

What should I do?

NB: I've never taken a dime from him. He drinks often and I don't want him spending 'our future' on alcohol! I'm way better at saving.

I'm worried if I press the subject, he'll get mad at me.

I also told him I want to leave Nigeria, he thinks it's a good idea and I also told him I can't afford it alone. He said he needs time.

Doesn't he love me? Should I let it go? Or insist we resolve this?
I can see that some people are insulting you.

Though your request was somewhat awkward, I feel it's coming from a sincere heart.

Don't pressure him. If you are truly sincere, time tell. But have to show reasons why he should.

How do guys pull stunts like this?

Since the time I was born, I have never seen a pastor carry gun and force person to give offerings or tithe.

So why are churches getting bad rep? No be by force to give, if you do not want to give, then do not give. After all, na your own money, so it is up to you to give or not to give. If you feel pressure or you are reluctant to give, please do not give at all.

If they talk sow a seed of 10,0000 naira or 50 naira, and you do not have or you do not want to give, do not stress yourself at all. Give what you can give easily and cheerful and if you do not want to, then don't.

Pastor can use words to persuade someone to give. At the end of the day, it is up to individuals to decide to give or not. So leave the Pastors and let them be.

If Pastor fly private jet, well good for him. If he use body guards, good for him. The body guards are getting paid and the private jet is not free.

Ode don't know that two African countries uses USA dollars, they are over 12 sovereign nations using American dollars as there legal tender.
So because the USA treasury print their dollars and keep there reserves we are now to say those countries contributes to over 50% of USA GDP.

Ode in case you don't know France GDP(PPP) is $3.666 trillion dollars 10th in the world.
While GDP(nominal) is $2.936 trillion dollars 7th in the world..
So some rag tag African countries that can't even feed themselves contributed over more than 1.5 trillion.to France economy..

Did you know that only French companies have the final say concerning the extraction, processing and sales of natural resources in the 16 Francophone countries?

In March 2008, former French President Jacques Chirac was quoted as saying, “Without Africa, France will slide down into the rank of a third world power”. This is the sound of a weakling. There is hardly anytime in history where the oppressor willingly allow the oppressed to go.

The Francophone countries are responsible for over 50% of the GDP of france. They pay tithe to France every year. France prints and determines value of their currency. 15% of their GDPs are kept in France in gold.

Tell which stupid people allow modern day slavery? And which oppressor would allow such stupid people to go? France has put a yoke on their necks.
