Celebrities / Re: Desmond Elliot Calls For Ban On Foreign Movies To Help Nollywood Grow by PrinceBBlack(m): 6:59pm On Jul 22, 2019
This man obviously isnt intelligent. We should ban foreign movies and watch all those useless low budget movies produced in Nigeria. Instead to improve on the use of quality shooting and improve on technological effects and good story lines, he is looking on banning movies that make my soul happy.
drinoayo:
Nollywood actor and director, Desmond Elliot, has called on the government to curtail the influx of foreign movies to help Nollywood grow, Igbere TV reports.

Elliot said this in an interview with HIP TV.

“Ban all foreign content, you know, make it difficult for foreign content to come in, so your own local content can grow and then, you need to support,” he said.

The Husbands of Lagos actor also said that the government needed to create an enabling environment for the entertainment business to thrive.

Desmond Elliot has starred in over 250 movies.

He was re-elected into the Lagos State House of Assembly on March 9.

He won best supporting actor in a drama at the 2013 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

He was also nominated for best-supporting actor at the 10th Africa Movie Academy Awards.

Politics / Re: Dogara Criticizes Northern Elites For Not Scrutinizing Buhari Like Jonathan by PrinceBBlack(m): 10:32am On Jan 11, 2019
13Ebiscoo:
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Yakubu Dogara, has challenged northern Nigerian elders to raise their voices against the endemic insecurity in the region just as they did during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Speaking in Lafia, Nasarawa State at the campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Thursday, Dogara noted that their silence on insecurity in the region could be taken as enabling the poor management of security in the country, especially in the north, a situation that continues to threaten our democracy and the very foundations of the country.

He condemned sycophants, who elevate some public office holders to the status of God, saying that by so doing, they bring destruction upon the country and called on all Nigerians to rise up and rescue the country from the clutches of insecurity.

“Just like my last speech to Nigerians that were gathered in a rally like this in Gombe, I said that the 2019 general elections is not about President Muhammadu Buhari, it’s not about Atiku Abubakar, but I said it is about you who are gathered here and it will be a referendum on insecurity and hunger in this land.

“On the issue of insecurity, all of us know what is happening in Borno and, unfortunately too, between Abuja and Kaduna, as well as in Zamfara, Katsina, Nassarawa, Benue, Plateau and even Sokoto States.

“Now, I cannot even mention all because it is a general problem in the county, but I was highlighting the states where the problem is more endemic as of now. The issue is this, when this thing was going on under Jonathan, we had Borno elders always speaking.

“Where are the Borno elders now? Where are the leaders of Northern Nigeria now that this problem has become endemic? What are they saying now? Are we not guilty of what we allow? Are we nit reaponsible for the killings by our enabkith to say that enough is enough and demand aa of right that President Buhari puts and end to this or leave if he cant?

“The truth is that if we don’t rise up to the endemic challenges now, sooner than later, if things continue this way, we are not going to have a country. So it is our responsibility to rescue Nigeria from the clutches of insecurity. Without security; we would not have a meaningful democracy.

“The sad reality in Nigeria is that by our silence we have condoned those who have been unable to effectively tackle the insecurity in the nation. We have have wittingly become enablers of evil. You know what enablers do? Enablers don’t build a country only courageous people do.

“What enablers do is that they instigate the worship of individuals and the office they occupy, they Will confuse such an individual with accolades. You know none of us was built to receive worship, anyone who attempts to receive worship will meet destruction in his wake.

“So that is why we are witnessing destruction in Nigeria, because we have elevated some human beings to the status of God. We now need to rise up and rescue our country from the clutches of insecurity.”

Imo state is in the news again over the requirements which a groom recently presented to his bride's family for their marriage introduction.

According to MC Emmydon, an eyewitness who was shocked by what he saw, his friend (the groom) bought various sets of wrapper, bags of rice, drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic among others things which he gave his partner's family for their wedding introduction on Sunday, January 6th.

He also revealed that these were required from the groom aside the bride price which was later paid to the lady's family.

The report has sparked mixed reactions from Nigerian internet users, with some lamenting over the "large" requirements.

See the reactions below.

Atiku is running a very good campaign in the North in alliance with the Kwankwasiya movement. Baring any rigging, Atiku just needs to do one thing to win the presidential election next month. That is, get a good share of the votes from the north and couple it with those from his two favourite zones in the south.

Buhari wont survive it if northern votes were shared, Yoruba votes only wont be a able to compensate such a deficit.
i can tell you that Buhari still has upper vote. First of all, East and South South will be split on like 60-40 or 70-30 in favour of Atiku. Southwest has higher tendency to give it to Buhari on the same 70- 30 or 60-40 basis. The north is where it determines
But i think Buhari will win om the overall north... Buhari will win but by a narrow margin

My bro,i have never given any gf any monthly allowance since I was born and unless she is my wife,no girl will collect that shiit from me...its a relationship, not a job opportunity.. The sooner men realise u overinflate women's egos when u do these 'allowance' thingies, the better...Don't u see Women are either wired for love or for materialistic gains....u deceive ursef when u think women equate the two...she either truly loves u or she is in it for the money.....
What dafuq is that rubbish statement...'taking care of me as my bf' when she couldn't visit u in Ibadan after Ur accident... What if you died She wouldn't ever give a damn.....Like a poster said above, learn to control ur woman.....be in charge, women are like lionesses...they respect strength, will and power....the moment u show weakness(being too nice, stop taking charge, being predictable, less mysterious, dull) they take over and take you for granted. If only men understood women like I do,the world would be way easier for us to live in.... No matter how pretty she is, a Lich Queen (leech mama) can never get my attention... U need to have something to offer as a woman(intellectually, hardworking, insightful, diligent and so on) before I even look at you... We are supposed to be MEN not he-goats controlled by sex and pheromones....

Until Men start acting like they are men, women will continue to use reverse psychology, click-bait,emotional blackmail to make men sissies....I watched a lion documentary of what happened to an old lion who couldn't control his pride...I could literally see the disgust on the faces of d lionesses, they booed him off, shooed him off, chase him round like a little bitch and force him to eat last over a meal...it was the most pathetic thing I have ever seen...they literally killed him themselves (allowing a new male to enter the pride and chase the oldie away). It taught me this...no matter what they say, women respect an Alpha,a male in control,it drives them insane and keeps them in check...u lose ur will,u lose their respect...

So,never ever ever ever kowtow or sissify ursef cuz of a woman...be an Alpha.. Be in charge..and watch while they beat themselves up to gain ur attention..

Well for me, i had a girl who i met in 2016. She is currently in her final year and i work with Nigerian Breweries in Enugu. I give this babe a monthly allowance of 50k while she doesnt even get 10k from being that her parents are in the village and he uncle gives her schoolfees.
First, i realized that i loved her so much with my heart that i forgot to use my head. I had a car accident in 2017. i was in the hospital for four months and then relocated to Ibadan where i was till september in 2018 where i was recouperating getting ready for a final surgery. I got her an Iphone X in that same september. In october, i told her that i was no longer getting salary that i wont be able to keep up with the 50k allowance but i could still manage 25k. Do u believe this girl said she cant come to Ibadan cos its far to visit and that i reduced the allowance i give her that what is 25k going to do for her. She finally said if i cant carry out my duty as a bf, that i should let her be. Well it was easy for me... i could part with the money but i personally sent someone to collect the Iphone X i bought for her and told her that the phone isnt my problem but she is an ungrateful piece of a person. Broke up with her and the phone is still in my wardrobe with full accessories since its not up to 1month i bought it waiting for the next person. I didnt love with my head but loved with my heart. If u dont take care of them, na war, if u do, na still wahala.

Bad Girls getting Married every Saturday. Why?

I woke up one morning disturbed at heart as I thought deeply on the subject “Why Good Girls Remain Single.” These are ladies that have spent their lives shunning the wayward lifestyle. They are the morally justified set of girls who have dedicated their lives to God and have decided to walk in His ways. These sets of girls are popularly called the “churchy” girls.

All through the week I kept reading posts on different social media platforms where writers kept encouraging ladies to wait for their men. And they kept teaching them what to do while they waited. “Mr Right is on his way.” They said. The question that kept running through my mind and I believe the same was the case in the minds of some of these ladies was “When is he going to come?” There are ladies that heard the “Mr Right is on the way” story when they were 27 years old, now they are 33 and he hasn’t arrived yet. So when is he going to finally arrive? When they’ve clocked 40? After so much thought on the matter, I decided to talk to a few people to get their opinions on what they thought were the reasons why ‘good’ girls remained single while ‘bad’ girls got married Saturday after Saturday. I gathered a few things which I would be sharing with you in the succeeding pages

An Entitlement Mentality

Some good girls think life or the world owes them something for being good. Just because they "kept" themselves, they sometimes think it is an automatic ticket to finding a good man.

In his book, Why Bad Things Happen to Good People, Mute Efe gave a perfect illustration which he called “The Classic Good-Girl-Bad-Girl.”

“Miss X is a bad girl. Bad as in the whole nine yards. While in school she was the typical “runs girl”. A new boyfriend every semester, clubbing every weekend, and using what she has to get her grades. In the process she had a few abortions. Miss Y on the other hand was a good girl. You can predict her movement – class, fellowship, market, and hostel. She had no time for boys. That was not what she came to school to do. She was a virgin. A year after graduation Miss X, the bad girl, got married. It’s been 10 years now. Miss Y, the good girl, is in her mid-thirties, not married and still a virgin. What happened? The most common response you get to the good-girl bad-girl case I just shared is, “life is not fair.”

Now let’s go to the theatre and place both ladies under the knife. While Miss X was the bad girl, in the process she got to know men and what men want. She understood what respect means to a man. She understood that men are attracted to beautiful things and how men love sex. From the number of guys that dumped her and married other ladies she got to understand what a man is looking for when he is looking for a wife. She got books on relationship to 'up her game' so she could get into the minds of guys. So immediately after graduating she decided to get serious and the next guy she dated proposed to her. Miss Y never knew all that. She believed prayer was the key. She fasted and went for vigils. She made positive confessions daily. She was speaking her husband into being. And there is nothing wrong with all these. But she dressed like she was in the 70’s. she never read a single book on relationship. And knew nothing about what men want.

Question: In the light of the above do you think life was unfair to the good girl in her still being single ten years after school even though she is a virgin? I don’t think so. Husband is not a reward for virginity.”

Mute Efe was not in any way encouraging a wayward life. Neither was he against virginity. His point is simple. “That you are a good girl or a good guy does not absolve you from the consequences of not knowing how relationships work.”

For every area of life, there are principles that govern it. Life will not excuse you for violating any of them because you are a good girl or a good guy. The sun shines on both the righteous and the unrighteous. The rain also falls on both the good and the bad. The same principle applies to everyone – good or bad. It is good to be good but being good is not the only condition to get a man.
