Let us insist, with one voice and regardless of ethnicity or sectional orientation, that the rebirth of Nigeria be anchored on more freedom for States and region to take important decisions over their own security and socio-economic development rather than leave all in the hands of one man and one office that, in a very cynically divided nation, can be hijacked as painfully and destructively as the Buhari cabal held Nigeria hostage.

It was nice reading ur comment. I can't remember when last I read something this intelligent here. I wish more Nigerians can reason this way. I have always said this that we must not enable the Buhari effect to happen again else, we are doomed as a country.

We all have prejudices but that cannot make those who are innately decent to become inhuman and evil or disinterested in progress in the way a suicide bomber does not value his own life talk less of that of others.

While Buhari is not entirely responsible, his compromises and inactions were very damaging because he could have created a level playing ground, as security worsened, by moving to do whatever it takes to ensure Nigerians genuinely had the power to secure their own lives and property better. Bw it through State or regional policing or even genuine and sincere reform/empowerment of the army and NPF.

Long and short is that it is us Nigerians who must extract the leadership we want from any President by first becoming aware of the fundamental problems and then uncompromisingly demanding the equally fundamental solutions needed to address them for good.

There is no way to sugar-coat it. Buhari failed horrendously. He has set Nigeria back decades. My take, after the fact, is that Buhari did not seek power to save or improve Nigeria.

He simply had a sectional agenda. No bigger indication of this than those he surrounded himself with as an inner cabal of officially and unofficially empowered individuals who had the Presidents ears over everything.

Where the new President must begin to turn around Nigeria is to ensure the delivery of a governance system that will ensure a Buhari can/must never happen again.

I.e a leader with a sectional agenda parochially hijacking the most inordinately powerful job in the world, the Presidency of Nigeria, not a single effective check-and-balance authority or provision exists to reign in before extreme damage is done to our nation.

Dude no one hates Nigeria more than I do but there's data and data doesn't care about feelings. When I newly got into tech I was always on job sites and Nigeria and south Africa are the only countries in Africa with job openings. This isn't even related to tech.
