congrats...

great stuff

Univas01:
I'm back here to share my experience and to thank forum members for their views on different cases.

After careful consideration of how my wife will join me in the UK, we decided to go down the route of spouse visa with all the information gathered within this forum. My wife was granted the spouse visa on Wed, 13th Nov.

Take away
- Put yourself in ECO's position and carefully analyze the application, don't be biased in your judgment
- Do extensive research on each of the requirements for the application
- Write a very clear and concise cover letter explaining your situation (Both sponsor and applicant)
- Make sure you do not leave any gap, ECO is probably looking for a loophole in your application

I do not know what actually worked for us but what I do know is that we put in all our efforts, considering the fact that my wife has previously been refused a visit visa on four different occasions.

Nonetheless, the most important is to rely on Almighty Allah having perfected your homework.

With God All Things Are Possible!

i think your scenario is a bit different..

Your're applying from nigeria??

i'm referring to applying for jobs from the UK..

moboladek:
Amen. Thanks a lot. I applied to the nhs and filled an application form through my agency and an interview date was given.
The interview was through skype and they just asked me a few questions on competence and why I wanted their nhs trust. They are to send a certificate of sponsorship which I'm told I will use for the visa application but it will take a few months.
I'm new to the process, so really don't have much information other than my field.

TravelRe: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by profemebee(m): 9:04am On Oct 25, 2019
Hi ..

Please whats the consequence of missing the appointment date?

i have to get bk to Nigeria for an important stuff while i was given a date in November when i will be away.

Should i call them to reschedule or what?

beryour:
Yeah, you do not have NI at the back of BRP. You need to call and book for appointment. Number to call is on the website gov.uk. You will be given an appointment and reference number. Do NOT miss the appointment time.

I need to get a job (preferably starting jan 2020), cos i have to go back to naija in some weeks time to wrap up work and all)..

Back for good in December 2019 while monitoring that i dont stay out more than 90/180 days in any 12months period.

hmmmmmmmm

i like the sound of that..

Bourne007:
With the level Monzo has gone, traditional banks are finding it hard to keep up.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by profemebee(m): 4:51pm On Oct 15, 2019
Looks like its even Monzo over Starling..

went with Monzo..

Olalekank:
Monzo is cool!

I used it to collect 2 salaries when I was in the UK and I didn't have any problem with them

Truly... as stated here, opening bank accounts is crayyyyy..

Banks just dey reject me like i have body odour *sobs*

2 proof of address docs are the main stumbling block as i dont have..

Got Monzo opened and waiting for my card..

Abeg any demerits in using Monzo as salary account? until one gets the right docs to open an account with one of these traditional banks?
TravelRe: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by profemebee(m): 8:43pm On Oct 04, 2019
confirm!!!!

thanks for the update

Bourne007:
Guy no be like Naija. I currently use Monzo as well (make sense die). Most of the banks (if not all) do not charge any monthly fee unless you upgrade to one.

TravelRe: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by profemebee(m): 11:34am On Oct 04, 2019
my dear...

it was a bad one.. infact it was like a dream..

the Officer screened my passport, then asked if i had issues getting the visa.. i said NO..

then he asked if i have ever been refused before, i said Once.. and then he flipped and went into ogbanje mode asking why i lied earlier on..

i got confused in my mind telling him he asked 2 different questions to which i replied.. and its also stated in my spousal visa application..

He then took me to the detention center section and gave me a form stating why i might be denied entry and all.. ticked the boxes stating pending my answers to further questions i will know if i will be let in..

guess whathuh na so i see 4 nigerian boys dey display.. and he probably used that pattern to judge me too cos the boys were all going cray.. one was asked if his wife worked and he said no.. then asked if he worked.. na so story dey go for the guy..

then there was another indian looking guy who was asking for his lawyer..

i was on the phone wit my wife, and asked to not use phones.. so i obeyed and waited for the officer who was with another checking some records on the monitor..

fam... i was just chewing gum trying to be calm.. like i didnt go thru all these to stop here..

10mins later he came back wt my passport stamped and said he was sorry he needed to do more enquiries into my case cos of my response.. i told him his question wasnt clear..

asked him abt the detention form.. and he said its nothing... i cud tear it up.. then he took it and squeezed it all. .showing me my stamp.. and saying im free to go.. that i wasnt detained but the form was to let me know i needed to answer some questions..

na so i go carousel to pick my bags only to see them on the floor.. broken and damaged ..

Also, flight from Lagos left like an hour late, so i almost missed the connecting flight to London at Istanbul..

what a day...

got my BRP sha and just dey rest...

lol.. i don run go buy hoodie & jacket ooo..

Abeg which of these new kids on the block btw Monzo & Starling offer normal basic account that isnt current account?

all i see is current account.. i never set for that one as i never get job. and i never even resign for work for naija ..

Yesterday, all the main banks like HSBC, LLoyds, etc reject me like say i get body odour *sobs** cos of proof of address in my name e.g. bills

Thanks for the confirmation..

I wasn't sure when the start date of the one year will be..

dustydee:
You know already so what is your question? Is October to December 2019 equal to 180 days (as you know)? If so there lies your answer.
Calender year is, in your example,October 2019 to October 2020.

Hello beautiful people,

Please i need your wisdom...

So i know one shouldn't stay outside the Uk for more than 180days in a calendar year.. is it 90 or 180 days?

However, pls what does "calendar year" mean? if i go in October 2019, does the 180days count for 2019 or i shouldn't stay out for more than 180 days for the period, October 2019 - October 2020?

I have some projects to wrap up that might mean i go to UK get BRP in oct 2019 then come back to Naija in same Oct 2019, then finish d projects for Dec 2019/Jan 2020. Then i go bk finally to the Uk..

Does that work out?

Please i need an urgent response.

Thanks for anticipated support.

N.B posted it in the other thread but gt no responses

Hello beautiful people,

Just thought i drop an experience i had yesterday..

I went to Turkish Airlines to book my ticket, and the sales guy said if if i didn't have a Residence Permit, i wont be allowed to buy One Way Ticket.

lol..

Explained to him the kinda visa i had, and that i will pick up my BRP when i land there..

I also showed him the visa on my passport and the letter stating so..

Funny yeah.. anyone experienced that when booking flight?
