thanks for the response... i have a tricky scenario.... scenario: A & B are married; A & C are siblings; A & C are on tenancy agreement as joint tenants in house 1, while B is permitted occupier for same house 1; A & B wants to move to house 2 within same council where A will be permitted occupier and B a tenant on the same tenancy agreement for house 2, while C will continue to be in house 1; Does A have to let council know even if both houses 1 & 2 are in same council? Does A have to let landlord for house 1 know considering the bills and rents for house 1 are still paid with no payments missed? Lexusgs430: You can have you name on as many tenancy agreements, as the printer can print........
You don't need to inform the council, unless you are also paying council tax, at both residents......
Why not just do Air BnB.......... It might work out cheaper.....
Life is not complicated, let's not over - complicate it...... |

hi hi beautiful people,
Is it ok for one's name to be in 2 tenancy agreements as Tenant & Tenant/Permitted occupier?
E.g. living with family outside London where one pays rent, & renting a place in London so one can get to work in time...
This means same name as tenant in the tenancy agreement outside London & same name as Tenant/permitted occupier in the tenancy agreement in London..
Is it ok? as long as rents are paid and council taxes are paid in both apartments?
In another scenario, if both apartments are within the same council, do i still need to contact council to let them know? |

i hope 57days wont be a problem .. i intend to do max 70 days out before renewing next year.. i know the rule is 90days a year max Aphrodite007: I didn’t scan my passport and I didn’t write a cover letter- not saying that you shouldn’t; just saying that I didn’t.
Also, They will ask you the times you’ve been abroad, which you’ll type into the application form, then if they need to investigate it, they will ask the relevant government department. |

thanks for the document and the way it is arranged... i noticed you used your own income for the financial requirement... i intend to do the same.. I was out for 57 days (work) after my initial entry to the uk, and will follow your method of writing a cover letter explaning... I went bk to naija to wrap up work and resign properly.. i hope i can tell Home Office that and they will understand oo.. i also love how one doesn't send physical copies of documents anymore.. however, did you really scan all the pages of ur passport? even if its empty page? oxygyne: @Bourne007: you know how crazy and paranoid this process can make someone feel especially because things change and it is expensive to apply so you need to take all precautions not to talk of how disruptive it can be if denied or rejected.

Please did anyone who has gone thru FLR M extension use 2 different addresses (that means you moved apartments or houses) for the application?
How does that affect the 6 joint address mail correspondence / 12 separated address mail correspondence?
Can you use Water Bill from address A with joint names and Water Bill from address B with same joint names for 2 different years? |

hi i finally have feedback from Council regarding my earlier post. The Council asked i get my landlord to add my name as a tenant in the tenancy agreement before they can add me to the council tax bill (my name is added as a permitted occupant). The landlord has refused because he said i wasn't referenced. My wife & sister were referenced because they rented the apartment before i came. The Council cant do much and are ok as long as the council taxes have always been paid. So the best option for me now is to move to my apartment with wifey as planned where we have bills in just our names. I plan for this summer post lockdown. This way, we can use 1. Council tax bill when we first move in and maybe 2. one from March 2022 when they send their yearly bill. Or are there councils that do monthly bills? I hope to have 2 bills from council tax for spousal visa renewal. My BRP expires June 2022 and so i have to renew May 2022. profemebee: mehnn you just made my heart a bit calmer with your explanation.
Yes, council knew that initially there were 2 adults and a baby, and now 3 adults and a baby as we have sent an email already tonight.
We will follow up with a phone call tomorrow and hopefully someone picks up. I will provide feedback once i get from the council.
I thought council tax will increase with every adult added.
Also, regarding bank letters, i can just download and print out bank letters from my mobile banking apps.
thanks... |

hi, please does this mean one should always re-apply for electoral roll when one moves houses (new council)? Aphrodite007: If you noticed I said “some” councils, when I commented about the electoral roll. In my previous council, I added myself to the electoral roll but wasn’t yet on the council tax. In this new council that I live in, they didn’t add me to the electoral roll yet, until it went through the council for confirmation that I live in my house. Ergo, if i hadn’t told the council that I lived here (CTax), they may have bounced my electoral roll application. The message I got after applying for the ER, was that my council would confirm to me if I’ve been added or not.
That being said, for people on spousal visas, they may need to add the two names to the CTax, not just for having joint bills, but because CTax gets requested for when applying for FLR (I’ll confirm how they asked for the doc). |

yeaa, spousal visa which is one person is a citizen thanks for the response LagosismyHome: What visa are you calling spousal visa?..... tier 4 dependent or another category?
The bank would be best to advice, when I got a mortgage, I was told by bank and broker that it was only those with at least ILR or something permanent.... years later i seen here that Tier 2 mortgage is possible...(it was here i heard it first from)
If you mean one party has citizenship and the other is on spouse , I would think if Tier 2 can be given then this category should also be available. ....So i think the bank or a mortgage broker would be the best to advice . |

hmmmm Please what's ur opinion about spousal visa going for mortgage tho? with both parties working.. LagosismyHome: Why the rush to get a mortgage with Tier 4..... mortgage can be a heavy responsibility.
Especially not at this time, if you don't want the house selling too is not that easy . Mortgage is income dependent as well, with 20 hours salary even if bank was to give, that Mortgage calculation will come out so small. Also Tier 4 cannot do BTL (buy to let) either so tier 4 should really be more focused on their studies . Except you are a cash buyer , I doubt if any mortgage lender will give a tier 4 mortgage. That won't be very wise |

Called Council .. Council said they will update my name once they've gone thru the details requested via email (name, date i moved in, and tenancy agreement with my name in it). Sent email with details and i hope they can reply cos i heard it can take weeks for a response to emails. Then they will send a revised bill with my name added to the bill from the month i was added to tenancy agreement (mid-last year) from next financial year which is April 2021. I can then download it online (the bill wont be backdated to when i came in Oct 2019 though) with a new customer acct ref nos as it changes when someone is added. For now, the bill will remain on the current account until the update is done. He didn't mention anything about arrears.. so i guess it is to wait for a response confirming the details sent via email are good... thankssssssss... newbie715: Full council tax is based on at least 2 adults, a 3rd adult doesn't increase the bill. I also underlined the relevant section in the screenshot but revert with the update from your council tomorrow.

Going by your updates, I don't think you have a problem re council tax.
From your initial questions, I assumed it was just you and your wife in an apartment and you didn't inform your council when you arrived so your council tax was based on one person which is illegal like I said before. Since there were 2 adults before you arrived (your wife and her sister), I assume your council is aware of that, if that is the case then the full council tax is being paid and you owe no arrears as full council tax is calculated by 2 adults and you have no issues especially as you said you are on the electoral roll. You therefore do not need to contact your council, you just need the bill.
In answer to your question, my husband's name is on our council tax bill and that's what I presented. |

i dont mind paying any arrears for the council tax.. i honestly didnt know it was a problem I'm grateful i even asked here, imagine i tried to renew spousal visa next year without knowing all these? Regarding the 2 council tax for each year you're referring to, i hope i can achieve getting my name in quickly before the bill comes cos i think it comes just 1ce a year, sometime April. That means the one for April 2021 is almost due. After that, i can then show the one for the new apartment when i move this year. Thanks. Aphrodite007: Please group the months in 4 periods. Look for at least two council tax for each year you’ve been here, and attach them to the period that they belong to, then Identify what documents match other periods.
That council tax is important (and probably mandatory), so please work on that. |

1. thanks, this answers it all 2. hmmmm bank letters, i have to find bank letters to sort this then. 3. Sincerely, i didn't know it was a problem. I just didn't even think of it. I hope it isn't too late, i will work on that from tomorrow asap. I came Oct 2019. Also, if your name wasn't on the council tax bill, did you just present it with maybe your partner's name with same address Or someone else's name but same address?4. thanks for the link. newbie715: 1. No, you need 6 documents each in individual names or 6 together in joint names across 2.5 years. I used individual documents and just spread it out over the period. Don't over think it. I just picked 3 documents a year for myself spread out evenly and 3 for my spouse, some were same month, some were not.
2. I used bank letters from 2 different banks, not statements. So like a letter telling me about interest rate change from one bank and another telling me that my account qualifies for a credit card from another bank.
3. Isn't evidence of council tax payment a requirement? I think it is, I included it. Your name doesn't have to be on the bill (mine isn't and hasn't been for the 5 years I have been here) but the council MUST be aware that you reside at the address and calculate your council tax accordingly otherwise it's illegal.
4. Use this link to check for overcrowding https://lha-direct.voa.gov.uk/bedroomcalculator.aspx |

1. thanks for the knowledge.. 2. i want to use it for proof of address for the 2years plus. I was thinking of using multiple bank statements as proof of address but i think i should just use our joint bank account alone as proof of address after reading your explanation. 3. I had to go during lockdown to submit my docs for right to rent checks to get on the tenancy agreement sometime last year May 2020. Also, i'm on the electoral roll and registered to vote. This is one of the documents i'm even going to use when i want to renew. However, i just never wanted to do the council tax as i intend to move to another place with wifey. We are 3adults and 1baby staying here in 2bd room apartment (wifey, her sister, sister's daughter and i) and they were listed in my initial spousal visa application and tenancy agreement, and i came in Oct 2019. Please can you explain oooo? should i work on getting my name in council tax even now before i move? I'm now worried. Aphrodite007: 1) i grouped 4 months together for each year. Example, I came in March, so March April May and June, I looked for a document that had his name and my name that fell within these period, and that was for period one. I did the same for all the other months (grouped in 4 months; if we had a proof with the two names, that would represent that period, otherwise I picked one for any month in the period with his name, and any month in that period in my name). Simple.
2) why do you need two bank statements? To prove your salary for the 6 months? If yes, wasn’t the salary paid into one account? You just need that one account. If it’s to prove address, You just need 1 month statement of any bank.
3) council tax is quite important sha. If your name isn’t on it it means you both have been paying for just 1 person.. wait how is your name on tenancy but not council? Aren’t you on the electoral roll? I pity your credit file
4) dunno. Google HMO (home of multiple occupancy I think). |

Hi hi,
Please i have questions:
1. For separate documents with wifey and i with same addresses, must it be same period, e.g. same month, May 2020 for 2 different documents of NHS letter & maybe Virgin media bill?
We only have 2 joint documents, bank statement and Water bill.. this question is for separate documents.
2. Pls are 2 different bank statements from 2 banks regarded as same source? e,g. Barclays & TSB.. will that be 1 source? 2 sources?
3. My name is only on tenancy agreement but not on council tax, and i don't intend to submit council tax as a document, is that ok as long as i have other sources.
4. Any link for the housing requirement for the nos of people that can live in a house depending the nos of rooms in a house? i can't seem to find it... trying to find the max amount of people that can stay in a 2bedroom with a parlor
Thanks for anticipated answers.

hi I came in since Oct 2019, and didn't know about having another TB test done when one comes in.. NHS registered and sent me my letter without any TB done.. please can you confirm or anyone confirm TB test will still be needed? Thanks. TK10Lee: Dear ODOOA,
Firstly, let me welcome you to the UK. I think all your questions have been answered on the previous posts if you go back and read from the beginning of the posts on this thread.
You and your spouse can have 6 or more if you have documents like Council Tax, Gp letter, Building society, bank statements, Telephone statements and electricity statements. It could be 2 or 3 years and could be joint or separate letters - if separate it must be addresed to the same address where both you and your spouse lives. And it starts from when you begin to receive the documents.
I was granted my FLR in October but I know the form you checked and filled using a proxy name would have been updated by the time you are due for your FLR. I'll advice you wait until 2 or 3 months before the expiration of your visa to start checking forms to be filled. Don't bother yourself on FLR form now but bother more on and start preparing to gather the documents you will need and money to spend for the FLR application when the time comes - 2023 is around the corner.
Your spouse has to register your name on the Council Tax bills by calling and informing them to add your name so that both of you will be receiving the tax bills as soon as your spouse is able to call.
I did not register my TB certificate with the GP when I arrived here, maybe things have changed now but my spouse called the GP and I was given an appointment to register with the GP. It was after I registered with the GP that I received a letter of appointment to do another TB test which I did then. Your spouse need to call the GP so you can book appointment, it may probably be online.
Since your BRP states that the visa is Valid until 1st May 2023. Then your visa is expiring on 01 May 2023, then you can apply from 28 days before the expiration of your visa. But try and read the posts from the beginning on this thread and you will find them helpful. Thank you. |

hi.. pls is there a way to receive this 69 page document ? LagosismyHome: Ok.just had a look at the guidance document. It is 69 pages so no power to read it in details this early morning..
But I think you are right and probably good to go regarding using 6 month to calculate what the annual income might be . Based on 16k in 6 months would mean like 32k annual salary which is over the 18k.
However make sure you read that guidance and absolutely sure that it's ok to proceed |
