Islam › Re: Islamic State (ISIS) Declares War On Hamas And The Muslim Brotherhood by proo212(m): 2:41pm On Aug 26, 2014
The funny thing is, this same thing crossed my mind before I read this from Al-Qaradawi.

I dont think its Al-Baghdadi's place to declare a caliphate, this belongs to the Mahdi and Baghdadi definitely isnt the Mahdi. But that aside, the carnange will be worse when the real caliphate is established. We read that already in the areas where the caliphate is fully operational, allegiance is pledged by the local conquered population, and christians cannot buy or sell and have been forcibly denied their jobs without identifying with the "state". We see echoes of the last verses Rev 13 here.

Muslims are encouraged to pledge their allegiance to him no matter what. Clearly, the present "Caliph" does not have universal appeal amongst muslims but if we are to believe the hadith as well "Reliance of the Traveller" and the book of revelation, the caliph will and must have universal authority.

4084 It was narrated from Thawban that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said: "Three will fight one another for your treasure, each one of them the son of a caliph, but none of them will gain it. Then the black banners will come from the east, and they will kill you in an unprecedented manner." Then he mentioned something that I do not remember, then he said: "When you see them, then pledge your allegiance to them even if you have to crawl over the snow, for that is the caliph of Allah, Mahdi." (Da'if)
Sunan Ibn Majah 4084

@true2god and truthman2012, I have to admit I was going to reply Rilwayne regarding the Battle of Badr and the assertion that the Muslims were attacked and persecuted for their faith. I know this is a false narrative because Islamic sources say that there 8 expeditions (robbing caravans to cut the supply of goods to the meccans) before the battle of Badr in 624AD and each one of them the muslims were the aggresors. (How is that fighting defensive Jihad?)

It is documented that they won the Battle of Badr ("a timely revelation came to Mohammed"wink, the funny thing is they lost the next battle miserably and there was no revelation... undecided

I gleaned some of this info from excerpts from "The Life of Mohammed" by Ibn Ishaq. The earliest and perhaps the most authoritative historian of Mohammed.

I will have to buy a copy and read it because there is also arguments from some quarters because a lot of muslims dont like the fact that its not all sweetness and light about Mohammed. Kind of like the "weak hadiths" that dont flatter Mohammed and Islam argument.

hifaif:

You know what, sweetie, there is nothing in the Qur'an that turns young men into violent monsters.

Just as there are verses in the Bible that pastors use to conveniently fleece their congregation and live extravagantly, so are there hadith that are used as propaganda tools by some Muslims and non-muslims to carry out acts of terrorism in the name of Allah.
@Hifaif

2 Things.

1. Either you are not knowledgeable about your religion or
2. You are deliberately trying to deceive

There are tons of verses in the Quran and Hadiths that turn men into violent monsters and I dont have to research them.

I have these verses readily by heart

47:4, 9:5, 9:29, 9:111, 8:12, 8:60 combining the hadiths muslims are bound by these verses 33:21, 33:36 and 4:80

What baffles me is that this "misinterpretation" or taking these verses out of context happens all over the world. But Allah said the Qurah is easy to understand and explained in detail in 11:1, 6:114, 41:3 and 16:89 but then if the book is clear and explained in detail how come he also said that some verses are clear and easy to understand and some verses are not so clear and easy to understand and that only he understands them in 3:7

huh huh huh

You wonder why there is some much confusion within Islam

If only Allah knows the hidden meanings, why were they revealed? Is Allah still all knowing and wise?

cloudstar: That is because most Muslims here on NL are not objective. I had a debate with one of them about venerating and worshiping objects in Islam. The Quran clearly forbids venerating and worshiping any object. Yet Mohammad kissed the black stone in direct dis-obedience to the Quran. I brought it to the Muslim attention and his response was - if Mohammad did it then it is correct. That is the level of reasoning when it comes to nearly every matter when you are discussing with Muslims. They put their God given reasoning aside and decide on every matter using the criteria - "If Mohammad did it, then it is right".
So if Mohammad married a 6 year old girl and slept with her at 9 then that is the standard. If Mohammad wore women clothing, then it is the standard. If Mohammad ordered the killing of over 700 captured Jews; then that is the standard - it is truly pathetic. We need to always speak the truth and refer to history to confront lies and misconceptions.
That is the same case here - Muslims hate Jews because the Quran said so and because Mohammad said so. You calls others pigs and monkeys just because a 7th century illiterate said so. I am not surprised because I grew up in such environments and at some point entertained the same thought. But thank God for His many mercies and His grace. Where would we be today if it was not for God.
Thanks for your support. I pray God will reveal Himself to all of us including our Muslim brothers in someway that we can understand and relate to. God bless you

Car Talk › Re: Siena's MK5 Toyota Hilux Customisation Project - "Apple Candy". by proo212(m): 9:16am On Jul 28, 2014
One thing I have not come to terms with, (and probably never will) is the rear suspension on on the Toyota Hilux.

Like most light pick-up trucks, it runs a live rear axle, suspended and located by leaf springs. Whilst this set-up is great when it comes to load-lugging, it limits the handling capabilities on tarmac. Not an issue with the stock 2.5 D-4D DOHC 16V, with it's 102 hp output. But if the ultimate goal is more power, in my case from a breathed-upon Lexus 4.3 V8 2xDOHC 32V, then the rear suspension will certainly limit my exploiting the extra performance.

I believe leaf springs belong on a cart. And indeed, that's where they originated from. Cart horses (pulled by Donkeys) had their axles suspended on leaf springs.

I have decided to go with a 4-link rear suspension, with adjustable coil overs. This dispenses with the leaf springs. The axle is then located by trailing arms at the front, and anti-wrap bars at the rear. Side to side movement is controlled by a Panhard bar, which is a bar located on one side of the chassis, the other end on the axle beam.

Since I have come to this decision late in the build process, very few, if any fabricators would be willing to do the job. Grinding and welding whilst surrounded by fresh paint is not any fabricator's dream.

So, I will be doing the work myself, while the bed is off the chassis. I will make mock-ups of the locating shackles / brackets on the axle and frame, for the trailing arms, anti-wrap bars and Panhard bar. These will be made out of wood, then all I will have to do is give the wooden models to my guy to make out of 3mm steel.

I will also be showing some love to the front end, losing the torsion spring set-up, and having adjustable coil-overs here too.

I will post pictures of this process, since it is not easy to understand, unless you're versed in suspension set-ups.
Wow! I cant wait to see how this will look and handle as its essentially an attachment to a "ladder frame" My first car (isuzu Piazza Turbo) had a live rear axle and apart from the looks (to me back then) it was a terrible car to drive. Got a second one (handling by Lotus) and it wasnt much improved. My 205 GTi 1.6 that I had in-between was much more fun to the 10th power

Demainman1: Now, Let me try an summarize this your report with the bolded
- So you agreed that the Jews were once inhabitants of that area but were always defeated by their arab neighbours hence most of them migrated outside the place.
- You also agreed that after roaming about the whole place and when condition was right they started flooding back to their home (What do they say about east or west home is the best again?)
- You also agreed that when they started trooping back their arabs neighbours were not happy and attempted to DOMINATE them again like the muslims always do.
- You now agreed that but now things are different. The jews are stronger and cannot only defend themselves but just like the elephant they still remember how these muslim neighbours dominated before and will never want that to happen again hence the constant wars.
Now my question to you @Sagamite is this;
If you were in their shoes what will you do? Will you allow your muslim neighbour to continue to dominate you in this current dispensation with the new knowledge that the MUSLIMS now not only want to dominate but they want you completely decimated!!
What would you do?
Bearing in mind that the then Grand Mufti of Jerusalem was an ally of Adolf Hitler and they shared their hatred of the original owners of the land. The Nazi had a Muslim division. One wonders why they wanted to cleanse the world of Jews.

After all of that cleansing, the state of Israel was established. Makes you wonder dont it....

Isaiah 66:8
Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion was in labor, She gave birth to her children.
Jeremiah 16:15
15 but, ‘The Lord lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north and from all the lands where He had driven them.’ For I will bring them back into their land which I gave to their fathers.
Jeremiah 23:7-8
7 “Therefore, behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord, “that they shall no longer say, ‘As the Lord lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt,’ 8 but, ‘As the Lord lives who brought up and led the descendants of the house of Israel from the north country and from all the countries where I had driven them.’ And they shall dwell in their own land.”
These are biblical prophecies. Make of it what you will. But we all have witnessed it.

Official Arabic name, Jama'atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda'awati wal-Jihad, means "People Committed to the Propagation of the Prophet's Teachings and Jihad"

Now ask yourself, and be honest with yourself, is the "People Committed to the Propagation of the Prophets's Teachings and Jihad" a Non-Muslim organisation?

In effect, they are Sunni Muslims.

Rilwayne, You still will not address the context of the passage by starting from verse 15 and I quote again because you are deliberately trying to turn scripture on its head by omitting part of the text.

This is your quote.
Let us take the verse again..
Deuteronomy 18:15-22 (NIV)
15 The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own brothers. You must listen to him.
This is what the verse says, the same NIV that you quoted and quietly omitted part of the text

Again, I will not even attempt to answer any more questions until you can prove beyond reasonable doubt that an Arab or Ishmaelite is the prophet that will be raised for the Israelites.

I will not even address Exodus 24 and 33 because you want to insert a context and a meaning that is not intended by the scripture

Nigerian atheist freed from mental ward, held for blasphemy against Islam, gets death threats

LAGOS, Nigeria — A Nigerian atheist released from the mental ward to which his Muslim family committed him by force said Thursday he is getting death threats for blaspheming against Islam.

Mubarak Bala, a 29-year-old chemical process engineer, said he is in hiding in predominantly Muslim northern Nigeria where Shariah law holds and some interpretations have blasphemy punishable by death.

"People are threatening me, I mean life-threatening threats," he told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. He said he was too frightened of drawing attention and wouldn't allow an AP video journalist or photographer to come to his hiding place.

Bala said that since he renounced Islam and declared himself an atheist, he has not only lost the trust of his father and elder brother, but many friends.

"Most of my friends condemn me and tell me I am bound for hell and that in an Islamic state, I would be killed. Blasphemy is a serious thing here," said Bala, who describes himself on his Twitter page as an ex-Muslim.

Northeast Nigeria is in the throes of an insurgency by extremists bent on turning all Nigeria into an Islamic state under Shariah law, though half of Nigeria's 170 million people are Christian. The uprising has killed thousands and increased tensions between Muslims and Christians in a country where adherents of both faiths are passionately religious.

Bala said he wants to leave northern Nigeria but first is trying to reconcile with his family, especially the father, two uncles and older brother who beat him up, drugged him and committed him to the psychiatric ward of Kano city's Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.

News of his plight came through tweets that he sent on a smuggled telephone from the hospital toilet.

Businessman Bamidele Adeneye, who had been corresponding with Mubarak about humanism through social media before he was committed, saw one of his desperate SOS messages and mobilized help through the #FreeMubarak Twitter campaign and the London-based International Humanist and Ethical Union.

Adeneye said he has also been getting death threats.

"I'm getting calls from people who say 'Where do you live, we are coming to get you.'" But he said he would continue to help Mubarak because, "That man is intelligent, his only sin is being honest about what he believes."

He helped organize help from Kano lawyer Muhammad Bello Shehu, who said he had been preparing to take Bala's case to court when the doctors discharged all patients because of a strike.

"Currently Mubarak has said he wants to reconcile with the family before he leaves and we have had some family meetings, that is ongoing right now, and they appear apologetic, to a certain extent," Shehu said.

Shehu is seeking an independent psychiatric evaluation of Mubarak's health to counter the claims of hospital doctors that he has psychological problems and family claims that he suffered a "personality change" that led to his renunciation of Islam, he said.

Bala's father, Muhammad Bala, did not immediately respond to phone calls and text messages. In a blog, the father describes himself as a journalist and director general of Kano state's Directorate of Societal Reorientation, one of the bodies that enforces Islamic Shariah law.

On Twitter, Bala has described his father as an Islamic leader who "can't afford to have a non-Muslim family member, so he declared me insane."

@Rilwayne001, that is why I started from verse 15 for context. You chose to ignore that.

The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;
I'm sure you know that in this case the Ishmaelites were not in the midst of the Israelites. Also the brethren in their midst is not an Arab. They are fellow Israelites

Please think about this verse.

For verse 18, the Israelites at that time had 12 tribes and multitudes of people. How come not one King over Israel and Judah came from Midian?

Actually there's no need to touch on the other points you raised. You prophet did not fulfill any of the criteria in verses 15-22.

If you can prove without a shadow of a doubt, I will tackle the rest of your questions

FYI, we use scripture to interpret scripture. Over to you

QUESTION 2
Deuteronomy 18:18: "I will
raise them up a prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee (Moses), and will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him."

Who is the prophet like unto moses?
You've seen this answer before countless number of times, but we'll keep posting it and very soon you will see the light of the word of God. Muslims will be upset if you misinterpret their scripture or misquote it.

This scripture asks so many questions of your prophet and he is not able to answer anyone of them

15 “The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear, 16 according to all you desired of the Lord your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, ‘Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God, nor let me see this great fire anymore, lest I die.’

17 “And the Lord said to me: ‘What they have spoken is good. 18 I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. 19 And it shall be that whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require it of him. 20 But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.’ 21 And if you say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?’— 22 when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.
For context
Deut 17:15. There has never been any King over Israel from a tribe or place not among their "brethren"
5 you shall surely set a king over you whom the Lord your God chooses; one from among your brethren you shall set as king over you; you may not set a foreigner over you, who is not your brother.
Lastly, what was so special about Moses that the coming prophet had to be "that" prophet like unto Moses

Deut 34:10
10 But since then there has not arisen in Israel a prophet like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, 11 in all the signs and wonders which the Lord sent him to do in the land of Egypt, before Pharaoh, before all his servants, and in all his land, 12 and by all that mighty power and all the great terror which Moses performed in the sight of all Israel.
Like I said before, so many questions in these verses

Did God or in this case Allah ever speak directly to Muhammad? No
Can you honestly say that the children of Israel are going to be judged by the words spoken to Muhammad through an angel? They will not
Did Muhammad speak a word that was not spoken to him by God? Yes
Did Muhammed know God face to face and converse with God? No
Did Muhammad perform with signs and wonders? No
Did God show his mighty power through Muhammad? No

Did God ever speak directly to Jesus Christ? Yes
Can you honestly say that the children of Israel are going to be judged by the words spoken by Jesus Christ? Yes they will

Did God show his mighty power through Jesus? Yes

Sorry Rilwayne, I need to take you back to this statement that you quoted

Within the multitude of religions that exist in the world today are three which consider themselves to be monotheistic--that is, faiths in which belief is centered around the One God.

A closer look, at two of these religions--Judaism and Islam- will show this to be true: both Jews and Muslims worship One God, the Creator of Heaven and Earth.

The other religion, that of Christianity, presents a problem, however, when it comes to the definition of monotheism as opposed to what Christianity stands for. Instead of making God the center of their faith, the Christians have turned their focus on Jesus, who is known to them as "Jesus Christ", or "Jesus the Anointed One". To the Jews, Jesus was "a nice Jewish boy"; to the Muslims, Jesus was a human prophet; one of God's Chosen Messengers. To the Christians, however, Jesus is much!!! more.

Christianity is focused on Jesus Christ. The religion takes its name from Jesus Christ. All Christian doctrines are centered around Jesus Christ. Major Christian holidays mark events in the life of Jesus Christ. The symbol of the Christian faith, a cross, is indicative of Jesus Christ. Prayers of the Christians are addressed to Jesus Christ, as they consider God Himself to be unapproachable by a mere man.

According to Christian author Fritz Ridenour, "the key to Christianity is that Jesus Christ really is the reason for it all and that he is holding it all together."[1]

Many Christians today are unable to comprehend the existence of God without Jesus Christ standing there in the foreground for them. Mr. Ridenour says that Christianity is " .. a relationship with a person, Jesus Christ"[2], and all too many Christians are in this position: they know God in no other way but through Jesus Christ.

The Christians say they worship God, but Jesus is also right there in the picture. As they see him-- in addition to God--as being divine, Christianity is a religion with TWO gods, not one;and a religion with more than one God is not monotheistic. How did this situation come to be? How did the religion of Christianity turn a human prophet from God into a god himself?
At the highlighted, If this "christian author" is a christian, then i'm an atheist grin

At the same time "many muslims today are unable to comprehend the existence of God without Muhammad standing there in the foreground for them. I say that Islam is " .. a relationship with a Allah, through "Muhammad", and nearly all muslims are in this position: they know God in no other way but through Muhammad. The ones that say there is another prophet after Muhammad are called heretics and shunned and killed for this reason

The Muslims say they worship God, but Muhammad is also right there in the picture. As they see him-- in addition to God--as being divine, Islam claims to be a religion with One god, but if you insult the prophet, Oh boy, carnage. If Allah is insulted, not so much carnage. How did this situation come to be? How did the religion of Islam turn a human prophet supposedly from God (who God never spoke to directly by the way but only through an angel) into the best example of conduct and emulation?

Cue the Shahada

Over and above your simplistic thought process is divine will and wisdom. God knows why he allowed the back and forth to happen and we as Muslims obey his determination of the matter. #QED
I guess I have to ask the third question,

If Allah(swt) ordered 50 Solats and Moses told the prophet to go back saying its too much, who is wiser?
Islam › Re: Why Do Muslims Pray 5 Times A Day? by proo212(m): 4:38pm On Jul 02, 2014
@Maclatunji and Lanrexlan, but the number of prayers was supposed to be 50!

Let us be honest and think, can both of you sustain 50 prayers a day?

Think and then think some more.

2 questions....

If Moses asked for the prayers to be reduced, that means Moses is wiser! Hmmm
If the prophet went back and asked for the prayers to be reduced, that means he did not submit!

There's a third question which is obvious but I will not ask it

One thing I have learned in the last few years of apologetics is to take the word of people like Al-Baghdadi and not the do-gooder liberal. He's said it and you have it on record.

And by the way, he is a MUSLIM with a PhD in Islamic Studies and not a criminal like some here will say to try to pull the wool over your eyes. I can bet bottom dollar he was/is an Imam or a scholar.

Whether he achieves or not it is another matter, but it wont be for lack of trying....Chai, rivers of blood. cry cry cry And this is only the beginning of the birth pangs.

Brothers and sisters sitting on the fence or those who do not know the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob personally, please draw closer to God and He will draw closer to you.

Mens hearts are already failing them for fear but we have a hope in Christ.

If its not ISIL, its trojan horses. if its not violent jihad, its stealth jihad. No one can deny it, the end is fast approaching. There is a way out, if only you will accept where it points to....That way is Jesus Christ.

@Mintayo, many thanks for coming to my defence.....

@Macelliot, after all these years of posting on this board, you no know who i be? No wahala, no offence taken.

Like Mintayo said, my post was meant to be sarcastic. If the young viewers on this board are into apologetics, you will know this is one of the arguments for Mohammed in the Bible. But lets not derail this thread. I'm sure we'll have lots of opportunities to debate Songs 5:16 in the future.

@Tintingz, I'm sure you know that argument is tired and does not hold water. If you are interested, open another thread and lets destroy Muhammdim

They avoid it because Mohammed is mentioned in Songs 5:16...

I still do not get these multiple headlights on trucks and buses. Was in Naija only last week and everyone drove with full beam. FRSC and Police are useless to stop this madness.

You should be afraid of a religion that grows without evangelism. Who preached to them? God does not preach to man, He uses humans to do the preaching. But a situation where people convert to a religion without preaching, something that is attractive to human fleshy nature (nature of sin), human wicked nature must be in that religion.
True words my brother echoing Romans 10:14-15

14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:

“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,
Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

Acidosis....you do well. At least someone somewhere has seen the first post and they have been ministered to. He who has an ear let him hear what the word of God is saying.

If all what you said is falsehood, someone should refute you....
