SangoOlukosoOba: I am talking about about the present.
Wizkid has a wife with that accent. He is not based in Nigeria, so what do you expect?
He relates with his wife and environment with that accent, so he is bound to flow that way Wizkid was almost 30 when he went there, he just learnt to force the accent on himself, your accent will not change after 25 unless you make a very conscious effort to change it. David na ajebo and speaking with an American accent is something he can do if he wants to, but how will speaking with American accent help him on Nigerian streets. |
Crime › Re: Usman Buda: Photos From The Burial Of Butcher Killed By Mob In Sokoto by PROPEACE: 8:59pm On Jun 27, 2023 |
Botragelad: There's just something about Islam that seems to breed violence. Maybe it's the fact that the Quran seems to condone violence against "non-believers." Or maybe it's the fact that so many Muslims seem to think that violence is an acceptable way to solve problems. Also,Islam seems to be the religion of choice for many terrorists.
Why is that? Why do so many Muslims seem to be drawn to violence? There's no easy answer, but part of the problem may be the way that Islam is taught. In many Muslim countries, and northern Nigeria the Quran is taught as a literal text, which can lead to a distorted view of the world. And, unfortunately, there seems to be a lack of moderation in the Muslim community. Many Muslims are either too extreme in their views or too moderate. There's very little middle ground.
This can and has led to some dangerous situations. For example, when a group of extremists takes control of a country, the moderate Muslims can be forced to go along with their views or risk being persecuted. This is what we're seeing in places like Syria and Iraq. The extremists are taking over and the moderates are being forced to flee.
I mean, think about it: if we're going to start punishing people for criticizing religion, then where does it stop? Are we going to start punishing people for criticizing the government? Or for criticizing other people's opinions? It's just not right. Everyone has a right to their own opinion, and no one should be punished for expressing it.
Besides, what's the point of having a free society if we're not allowed to express our opinions freely? The no nonsense Hindus of India are their match. |

Toh, me I said it many times, but everyone seemed to be hailing Tilumbu. Money will be realised from subsidy removal, no doubt, many contracts will be awarded at ridiculously high rates, all the gains from subsidy removal will end up in the pockets of theiving politicians, rogue contractors and corrupt civil servants. These trio will still feed fat as usual, but under Tilumbu, the masses will pay for the expensive lifestyle of these rogues with their sweat. |

T0BY: people are really taking quiet people for granted not knowing they're even more dangerous than they thought.
I wasn't surprised to see that it was actually a female behaving like that towards the house girl. They're naturally wicked. Reminds me of the movie "The Count of Monte Cristo", if you haven't watched it, please do and see how a good man was turned to a wicked one. Most Nigerians are naturally sadistic, they get their kicks from being wicked and quite sadly, they prey on gentle people. |

Family › Re: I Stood Up To My Father by PROPEACE: 1:38pm On Jun 16, 2023 |
DamianDd: My dad is a really good guy, I love him so much and he's gentle most times. Though he gets angry sometimes but he's reasonable about everything he does.
I came home 11:30 which is very late and I knew that and I even hated it too that I came home this late so I was trying to avoid him even when he asked to come to his room because I had a gut feeling that things won't gi right.
But I ended up going to get my charger that was with him, then for the first 5 minutes in he was making sense about why I came home late and I was agreeing to it that it's true
Then all of a sudden he starts saying "what will people think?" "Neighbors are watching" "they'll start saying god forbid, like father like son" "I nor fit let my pikin be like this boy" "which kind family be this, see when their son dey come house?" "People are watching, people are judging" and even more words and it started getting annoying to me, then he said they will say "see when this small pikin dey come house"
It was at that moment that I shut it down, I've never been that way to him but it was so infuriating, I told him I'm not a child I'm 18 which is legal age, I work for my money, I make 50k to 300k a month on my own; no neighbors give me food when I'm hungry, the landlord doesn't clean my eyes when they hurt from viewing my phone too much so I don't give a Bleep what they think of me. I told him to not put all those orientations in my head because it affected me alot when I was younger and it made me timid and shy and scared of being myself or having different opinions and that's what I'm trying to fix in myself and my mindset now.
What I do feel bad about is last year I paid for the house rent and packing when I had alot of money, I brought it up when I was talking to him and said "I paid for this house with my own money so who is landlord or the neighbors for me to be sacred to come in and out of my own home, I know what I did is wrong and I'm sorry but don't put those bad thoughts in my head" I shouldn't have said that though by bringing up what I did for family. He only called me back and said "don't worry I won't talk to you anymore until I use my own money to pay for the house next time" I didn't say anything because i know I was wrong and nothing good would come out of talking back, I just left his room.
What's your thoughts on the matter? Sad! I am sure your gentleman of a dad will think twice before accepting a dime from you. |

Validated: So, with what did Yakubu Mahmood get his number, if 18000 results could not be read? For all we could estimate that the blurred 18000 result could have atleast 2m votes that have been manipulated. That alone makes the election inconclusive.
Conclusion, the process was substantially flawed, hence Tinubu should be removed.. Assume 200 voters in each of the polling units, which is quite modest, that makes it over 3.6 million votes. INEC seems to be playing. |

Hi Nairalanders. With the removal of fuel subsidy in Nigeria, it is a no brainier that the cost of fueling vehicles is becoming unbearable for car owners. In the past, we came up with one reason or the other to wave off hybrid and electric cars. Some reasons include, they have electrical problems, there are no good mechanics for such cars in Nigeria, bla bla bla. Nigeria has finally transitioned into the era of hybrid and electric care. What are some hybrid cars that are affordable and reliable for Nigerian roads? |

SwayG: If Messi departs PSG his career will eventually come to an end. Unless he goes to a very reputable club.
In as much as Messi is a great footballer, he doesn't have the audience and grace that follows the relevance of Ronaldo. This is mainly due to poor marketing and packaging.
Ronaldo has packaging. Sadly, Messi Doesn't.
Messi's relevance at PSG was below average. He would have gone into oblivion if not for the world Cup win.
He has done well for himself, however. You He goat has proven to be a wasted investment to Al hilal. The are licking their wounds right now. |
