Nairaland General › Re: Is This Sitting Position Feminine by Psoul(m):
In African tradition, it is unacceptable for a woman to cross her legs that way while sitting.
Some believed that it brings bad luck too women.
Some see a woman sitting that way as a wayward woman and the one that lacks respect.

Women are expected to bring their legs together (not crossing it) while in sitting position. Closing their legs together to avoid exposing their laps and eventually their privates.

Modern women started wearing hot mini which makes it difficult for them too sit down without exposing their privates. They now borrowed that men's sitting position to help them lock up their privates even as their laps are totally revealed.

I don't know who is turning the narration to relate the sitting position at feminine or for a guy as a gay.

To me, that position exudes power and confidence. It's purely masculine.
It's also sitting position for tall ppl with long legs especially when sitting on a relatively low seats. That sitting position makes them feel more comfortable and look decent than sitting and throwing long legs apart which makes them look somehow awkward.

The fact that she is even suffering from Dyslexia and would have to transverse 17 countries with varying immigration law & policies raises some reservations.

She's not new to it. She has done it severally.
She understands the risks and how to avoid them.

Politics › Re: Army Discovers Burnt Corpses Of Policemen & Cannibalism In ESN Imo Camp by Psoul(m): 8:29am On Jan 28, 2024
The raids, according to a statement issued on Friday by the Acting Deputy Director, 82 Division Army Public Relations, Lt.-Col. Jonah Unuakhalu, were jointly carried out by troops of the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Navy and Air Force in conjunction with the police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

All these combined forcesjust to destroy a small group like ESN army in a very small town of Okigwe in Imo State that has a land mass of about 384 square kilometres and inhabiting about 184,500 people.
Still after all these, we couldn't get a better result of that attack.

With this heavy combined forces and given the land mass of Okigwe and it's simple terrain, I expect this combine force to capture or kill over 60% of the ESN army. But they are here telling us this story.
They went their burning houses of the villagers and throwing bombs in the air between 4am to 6am in the morning. Later they started patrolling in the town to show force.

I want to believe that Daniel had been gbenshing Jasmine in that house tey try.
Or, Daniel is a fuulish son to connive with an adopted child to kill his biological father.

If those children are to have their way, they will kill Ibu to have access to that money.

Seems Ibu failed to instill discipline into his children or those two may just be the bad eggs.
Crime › Mr Ibu's Hospital Funds: Children Of Nollywood Actor John Okafor Arrested by Psoul(op): 7:34am On Jan 28, 2024
Two of popular Nigerian actor John Okafor's children have been arrested for allegedly stealing money raised to pay for his hospital fees last year.

Known as Mr Ibu, the 62-year-old had a leg amputated in November after fans had donated to a crowd-funding scheme.

His son Daniel Okafor and adopted daughter Jasmine Chioma are accused of hacking into his phone and taking $60,700 (£47,800) for themselves.

The pair have not commented since their arrest in the city of Lagos.

The police issued a statement about their arrest and their investigation into the alleged fraud after the siblings appeared at a bailing hearing on Thursday.

A court said the two could be freed if a $17,000 bond was posted. They remain in custody.

The police's criminal investigation unit said it had discovered that they had allegedly installed an app on their father's phone after the fund-raising began.

This allegedly enabled them to start transferring money out of his account.

They are expected to appear in court on 11 March for the next hearing.

Mr Ibu's health issues first came to public attention last October, when the family posted a video on social media of the Nollywood star celebrating in hospital. In the clip he asked his fans for help with medical bills, eliciting a huge response.

The actor became famous 20 years ago in the Nigerian comedy Mr Ibu - which became his nickname. It is still regarded as one of the best Nigerian performances in a comic role.

He went on to act in several other notable movies in Nollywood, as Nigeria's multi-billion-dollar film industry is known, in a career that has spanned more than two decades.

The star told a local newspaper a few years ago that he had a total of 13 children some of whom were adopted.

Car Talk › Re: A Friend Borrowed My Car And Brought It Back Like This by Psoul(m): 4:01pm On Jan 27, 2024
Spark2:
Good day NL.
A friend of mine borrowed my car few days ago to help ease movement for him. I happily gave him the car because I understood the need he had.

For precautionary reasons, I don't let my fuel get below quarter tank. Each time it gets there, i ensure I top it up.

When I gave this guy my key, I told him clearly to ensure he adds enough fuel as he's leaving my place and not to allow the fuel guage gets below quarter.

My car spent some days with him. he brought back the car and complained that my car has stopped on the way several times and each time it stops, he'd have to buy a little fuel and add before it moves.

Second, he brought back the car with scratches on my front bumper. I learned from someone that he had moved on terrible roads with the car. I was told he went to places that other people had parked because their vehicles can't enter.

I asked how much fuel he bought and he told me he bought a few litres of fuel. This got me furious because this is a journey that if I am to go, I'd have to buy over 40L of fuel.

Third, he brought it back with a faulty fuel gauge, my fuel gauge has never been faulty since I bought my car. It was not possible for me to know the fuel level at the time he returned the car.

I had to go fix my car because I had a need to go somewhere with it. My mechanic opened to tank to check why the car was stopping as well as the fuel gauge. To my surprise, my tank was terribly empty. It was dry.

I had to buy so much fuel as well as fix the fuse of the fuel gauge. As for the scratches, I will have to leave them like that. The funny thing is that my friend cannot even tell me he is sorry.

I have resolved in my mind, I WILL NEVER GIVE ANYBODY MY CAR AGAIN. NO.
ITS ONLY ME THAT CAN TAKE CARE OF MY CAR. I AM THE ONE MAINTAINING IT AND I KNOW EHERE IT PAINS.

what do you think about this?
Do you give out your car to your friends to use especially in this hard economy where fuel, maintenance and cost of parts are on the high side.
If you must lend your car out, let it be too a friend that also owns a car and who knows how to handle his own car.

Don't lend your car to someone that doesn't have a car. He will try to drive all the styles he knows and those he has seen in action movie with your car.

He doesn't know the cost of maintaining a car.

ImpactBooks:
Dear NLs, please I need your guidance on this issue. I am on the verge of applying for my first annual leave with my present employer. But the information I have gathered from my colleagues at work have it that the company usually count weekends as part of the annual leave days.

Note that in my employment letter, it was only started at I shall be entitled to 28 annual leave days and also that the company usually work Monday - Friday.

Is it right for the company to count weekend as part of my annual leave days? And what does the Nigeria Labour Law says about this?

Thank you all for your anticipated guidance
Your annual leave should not include weekend (Saturday and Sunday).
Also, if there happens to be any public holiday that falls within that period, it will be treated as a non working day(just like Sat and Sun)

This girl should be ashamed of herself. What kind of flames is this.
I can say that the girl is a very cheap girl.
Just look at her narration and you'll see that she's a cheap girl.

From her post, when the guy asked her to come to Umuahia, she demanded for transport money. This shows that she has bn on romantic chat with the guy, not just for accommodation. That was what gave her the mind to ask for transport fare. Who will ask for transport fare from someone you're going to meet for help?

You went a hotel, deposit money for lodging and hoping that the guy will pay the balance. How will u expect someone coming to help u pay you lodging fee. She already planned they are going to sleep together.

The girl was just angry that the guy did not give her money. She was not angry that the guy had sex with her, just that she was not compensated well.

Many of our women are brainless.

Actually most times they don't place the slabs, that's the challenge.

They only place it at entrances to adjoining roads, houses or shops to aid entrance.

But overall, trust JB to do a very good job 👍
I've not seen anywhere that there is a total slab covering for sideways gutters. Slabs are constructed for entrances. Other places are left open for easy drain. If the whole gutter is covered with slab it will make a mess of the construction.

The only gutter that is completely covered with slab are those gutters that run in-between road. Sometimes they act as road demarcation. The gutter is always higher than the two lanes and will have total slab covering cos ppl do use it as a walkway. There will be openings by the two sides for water drainage while there will be manhole on on top in case of maintenance.

So ppl should stop talking about what they don't have good knowledge of.
