@OP: our new generation of Christians now have a perverted way of expressing their so-called gift of tongues. When the holy spirit descended on the apostles, their gift of tongues sounded like music to the ears of people from other nations that came to celebrate the pass over.
All the 'urobo, scobo lobo, ray maa shaba laba' that people use these days is actually very irritating.
Please remind your wife who she's married to,whether na you or 'holy spirit'. At least, even God had to woo Joseph into marrying Mary as she was conceived by the holy spirit. Women should love their husbands as onto the lord.
By the time you leave her and start following a younger sexier 'woman of the world' her eye go clear.

I dont think God will ever give people a gift that will disrupt or break marriages.

VALENTINE'S DAY REVIEW
Couple of days back, on the 14th of February 2012 to be precise, while driving through the streets of Lagos; I noticed a very ‘colourful’ trend. A lot more people, so it seemed, decided to put on red outfits on that day. People do wear red clothes naturally but perhaps the day being St. Valentine’s Day made the trend much more auspicious. Later that evening, the normally congested city of Lagos had most of its fast food joints, restaraunts and recreational outfits stretched to very uncomfortable limits. It was not unusual to see two lovebirds queuing for hours just to buy meat pie and soft drinks; and after the food and drinks had been bought, there was no space for our love birds to sit and relax, as all seats were already taken.
St.Valentine’s day is here to say in Nigeria, when my generation was much younger, Valentine’s Day was largely an elitist celebration so to say. Its main celebrants were the middle to higher class couples who could afford some of the expensive romantic goodies that came with the territory. Today, the celebration of Valentine’s Day now cuts across almost all strata of Nigeria’s urban population, at least I can speak for Lagos. Continuing my journey through the streets of Lagos on this Valentines’ day, what struck me and perhaps inspired this article was when I drove through an Okada park; I observed that most of the Okada riders were putting on various shades of red shirts. Out of curiosity and since my destination was round the corner, i parked nearby, walk up to a random red shirt wearing Okada rider and asked,’oh boy dis one wey all of una dey wear red, wetin dey happen? And the Okada rider replied with a tint of sarcasm,’oga, fine man like you, you no know say today na Varrentime?’ I giggled as I walked away.
Surely Valentine’s day means a lot of things to a lot of people. Historically, it’s a day set aside to celebrate the life and times of a catholic priest called Valentine who was renowned for marrying couples faced with opposition against their union. Valentine was martyred, and was subsequently declared a saint by the Catholic Church. In the 1840s, commercialization of St. Valentine’s Day began as cards and gifts became available on sale in the United States of America, from there on it went global. Today St. Valentine’s day has become a multi-billion dollar industry worldwide, and Nigeria is not excluded. The Entertainment industry seems to be a huge beneficiary of Valentine’s Day; events, shows and exclusive dinners tend to record sell out patronage on this day. Bakeries, gift shops and other culinary outfits smile to the bank on Valentine’s day.
For the matured and level headed, who unfortunately are a minority, , : continue reading at : http://www.thestanleynwabia..com/2012/02/valentines-day-review.html
Politics › Re: ‘Return Home’, Igbo Leaders Tell Igbos In The North by publisher(m): 9:59am On Jan 30, 2012
The fortunate or unfortunate truth is that Nigeria is here to stay. Igbos will always return to the north cos the vast majority of northerners appreciate their presence but the fanatical minorities tend to destroy everything. After the civil war,it was only in northern Nigeria that Igbos reclaimed their abandoned properties 100% intact. While Our so-called southern brothers jostled to acquire Igbo properties left behind, till this day some Igbo properties in Lagos,Port harcourt and Calabar are yet to be returned to their rightful owners. If we have not judged all Yorubas based on the activities of 'agberos' and 'omo oniles',let us please not judge all Northerners based on Boko Haram.
Nation building is about crisis management,if we cant manage Nigeria now, there's no way we can manage a Biafra or Odua republic. Do u think all Igbos are the same? A dicothomy exists between Anambra,Imo and Ebonyi Igbos, each with different orientation and dialects, not to mention segregation issues like Osu,Ohu etc. Those of u who have parents that lived in Biafra during the war should go ask them what happened in that region;how some igbos murdered or ridiculed their wealthier returnee kins from other parts of Nigeria.
If Igbos are truly decendants of Jews as some claim, then this is food for thought: Even after the holocaust of World war 2,the Jews remain in Germany today and continue to prosper.

HOW NOT TO OCCUPY NIGERIA.

The year 2012 kicked off on a very eventful note, it all started with the sudden removal of the fuel subsidy by the federal government and all hell literarily broke loose in Nigeria. The Nigerian labour unions and civil societies naturally resisted this move by government and led the country into a nationwide strike accompanied by series of protests and rallies. Apparently, the main hotspots were Lagos and Kano two of Nigeria’s most powerful cities. At first these rallies seemed like the usual protest rallies Nigerians are used to which tend to disappear or fizzle out in about three days. But that did not happen, events in parts of Nigeria especially Lagos stunned many. The Gani Fawehimi Park in Ojota-Lagos became a Mecca of some sorts as people from all works of life began to

Politics › Sovereign National Conference: For Who? by publisher(op): 1:16pm On Jan 24, 2012
Stumbled on this interesting write up,its quite long though. Enjoy reading.

SOVEREIGN NATIONAL CONFERENCE: WHO WILL REPRESENT ME?

The call for convocation of a Sovereign National Conference has for some time now become a mantra for certain pro democracy, civil rights and cultural groups. The agitation for SNC began right after the annulment of June 12 presidential elections in 1993 when it became clear to many in the south that the only reason why Chief MKO Abiola was denied his presidential mandate was because he was from the wrong ethnic group. Associations like NADECO and other pro democracy groups emerged with a call and demand for a Sovereign National Conference as the only antidote to Nigeria’s huge basket of problems. Fast forward to the year 2012 and the call for SNC has become even louder, why with the horrifying plague of Boko-Haram in the North, restiveness in the Niger-Delta, alleged marginalization of the South-East, Religious/Ethnic conflicts here and there, obviously there may be no other way out.
Nigerian Activists have defined Sovereign National Conference as the coming together of all ethnic nationalities in order to discuss, express their individual rights to self determination and chart the way forward for Nigeria. While this is not entirely a bad idea, the word ‘sovereign’ is perhaps quite worrisome as it suggests that each ethnic group would reserves the ultimate power and right to make, stand by and execute its own decision at the conference. Thus if ethnic group A decides to go its separate way, its decision is final. Examples of countries that have broken up into several pieces are abound; the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia and more recently the Sudan. Proponents of SNC are of the view that if Nigeria must remain together, all ethnic groups must agree to remain part of Nigeria provided respective terms and conditions are met.
As at last count, Nigeria has about two hundred and fifty ethnic groups, each with distinct languages and dialects. What this means is that assuming the SNC is convened with ethnic nationalities providing two delegates each, we are looking at five hundred delegates at least? Another mock question is; can two people adequately represent the interests of an entire ethnic group? Considering the fact that every single ethnic group in Nigeria has its own sub groups and clans with various interests bordering on religion, trade, profession, customs, land issues etc. Obviously, each ethnic nationality will require more than two delegates. However if we must stick with two delegates per ethnic group, then one will expect that before the convocation of a Sovereign National Conference, all ethnic nationalities must first convene their own respective ‘sovereign clan, age-grade or village conference(s) where all their positions will be harmonized and then two delegates can now be mandated to go represent them at the national conference. Easier said than done, if you ask me.
Many are yet to realise that no ethnic group in Nigeria is homogenous in the real sense of the word. Yorubas may be referred to as an ethnic group or tribe, but within the Yorubas there are many sub-groups like the Egbas,Aworis,Ifes,Modaekes to mention a few, each with their own distinct dialects, customs, interests and aspirations. Can any persons or group of people truly rise up and claim to represent the interests of Yoruba nation as a whole? The,

The real victim of this Boko Haram saga are the Hausa/fulani muslims themselves. Yes,southerners and xtians have been attacked and killed, many have relocated down south. Who looses?
The North as we know it has been successfully divided, this is what the likes of Ahmadu Bello dreaded the most. The christian tribes of the middle belt have finally divorced tha Hausa/Fulani for good. As it stands now,a Hausa muslim will never win a presidntial election in todays Nigeria. Buhari had to discover that himself.
The attacks on Kano and the indiscreminate killing of kano muslim citizen is probably a good omen for GEJ,as a further division btw sympathizers of BH amongst the Hausas has emerged.
At the end of the day,the war against BH will be fought and won by conservative muslim Hausas who are about now counting their looses from recent attacks.
GEJ is a christian and southerners theres a limit to how he would have handled BH without being branded as a christian crusader or ethnic bigot by mischievious northern interests.
Strategy wins.

Politics › Re: Is Boko Haram Not A Tool Of Distraction By Pdp by publisher(m): 3:08pm On Dec 30, 2011
My own conspiracy theory:
Boko Haram on the longrun will help northern Nigeria decide if it wants to catch up with the rest of the country or remain isolated forever. As it stands now,i think its going to be impossible for a full hausa muslim to ever become Nigeria's president again. Boko haram has succeeded in dividing the north forever by targetting christian northerners who unknown to many are not minorities(Northern Nigeria is now about 40% xtian thanks to southern kaduna and the rest of the middlebelt). A trend that has damaged the political might of Hausa-fulanis who once used the 'one north, one destiny' slogan to dominate the rest of Nigeria. Saudarna of sokoto and Tafawa Balewa must be shivering in their graves. If political heavy weights like IBB,Buhari and Atiku were denied the presidency by a nonentity southern xtian like GEJ, it tells u that the Cameroun therapy of hausa's started by Obj is now firmly on ground.
For those who dont know,Cameroun like Nigeria had a very powerful hausa muslim north who ruled the country since independence. But a power rotation deal in the early eighties moved power down south. Till today, northern Cameroun has not smelt power again.
Most of the Boko haram members are illiterate almajiris who are recruited and hoodwinked by faceless sponsors. Decieved into fighting a jihad ,but ultimately used a worthless pawns in a very bloody political chess game. The real Boko haram sponsors may even be southerners.
Hausas and the core north are the real victims of boko harm.

Most of the Buhari and Atiku supporters on this thread cannot successfully eradicate the bed bugs ravaging their respective homes. Yet they want GEj To wave his hat and make Boko haram disappear.
So what should the president do? Send christian soldiers to go kill all hausa/fulanis?
Or like Nzeogwu,he should assassinate all northern ellites?
Banish Islam from Nigeria?
Kill all almajiris?

Has any anti GEj mor.on offered any sensible suggestion on how BH can be defeated? Na just to dey post trash here.

Again my advise to GEJ is that since some northern elites threatened and decided to make nigeria ungovernable if he won the elections. GEJ should come out now and declare his intention to run for a second term in office. This will be a declaration of war on all his opponents and their hidden faces will emerge.
Music/Radio › Re: Nigerian Music Is Better Than America's by publisher(m): 12:19am On Dec 27, 2011
I hope must folks on this thread are aware that 'American music' goes way beyond hip hop(black/coloured music). Majority of Americans (whites) are into Blue grass country and rock music. Nigerian music cannot be better than 'American music' cos there's no such thing. But i dare say that 'the Nigerian hip hop genre' is presently giving the American hip hop genre a run for their money in certain aspects, but this does not mean that Naija hip hop has become better, not yet.
Presently,Naija music has cornered a large chunk of the 'hip hop' pie outside the US,once controlled by American artistes. This scenario is more glaring in Nigeria itself and other parts of black Africa. American hip hop has lost its traditional 'dance value' which made it popular amongst blacks and coloureds. Naija hip hop music has successfully resurrected the 'dance' in hip hop.
No one on this thread can 'really' dance to jay z,Drake,Busta rhymes or lil wayne's songs. Lady gaga has been a hit cos most of her hit tracks are danceable kinda like the Madonna of old,and she's white too. Chris brown is trying too.
As per lyrics, please any one looking for good, sensible, pure lyrics in a song should stick with 'songs of solomon' in the bible. Hip hop is secular music, its suppose to make u 'dance and wiggle' even if the lyrics of a song is about cocks crowing, and Naija hip hop is doing just that presently.

Trust me,what we witnessed today was child's play compared to BH's original plan. The Yobe and Kano assaults by the army really hit BH below the belt but the war is far from over.

I guess most of us here are mis-informed. I can authoritatively tell u guys that the Nigerian Army of today is dominated by christian northerners from Benue,Plateau,Nassarawa,Taraba and co. Even in the lower ranks you have more of  yorubas(from Kogi and Kwara)-most of the ground troop battling Boko haram in Yobe are from these regions. Nigerian army understands the strategic nature of each ethnic groups, remember most of the soldiers that fought Niger delta militants were core northerners.

And please, lets get something straight, most hausa fulanis are against Boko haram, see what happened in Kano last week. On the longrun,a fine blend of military and political solutions will lead to an end to these crisis. Every Nigerian tribe is important, its the individual politicians that are useless.

This biggest idiots today are not the Boko Haram guys but the silly fools posting trash on this thread. Nigeria should split abi? Split to where? South west Nigeria has a slight muslim majority,Middlebelt Nigeria has a Christian majority, everything is just inter twined. Some morons have begun blaming GEJ,WHAT EXACTLY CAN HE DO? There are thousands of Churches in Nigeria,Boko bastards managed to bomb the environs of about two churches and because of that Nigeria should split, all hell must break loose? Is it not the same muslims in Kano that rose up last week to fight off Boko haram who were planning to bomb churches in Kano? Was any church bombed in Kano?
This is the time for all right thinking Nigerians to come together and fight a common enemy, apart from the sad Bombings in Madalla,Boko Haram failed woofully on inflicting the type of carnage they had initially planned. Boko haram people are not spirits, they are only human and they will fall if we stick together.
All the useless divisive bickering s i've seen on this thread is exactly what Boko Haram wants on a larger scale.
Lets mourn those who died this morning and pray for their families, let's also pray for ourselves and remember that 'all die na die'. We may have lost 26 souls at St theresa Madalla, but many more Nigerians will die through road accidents this season.

OP,

Have you ever bothered to ask yourself what "dual purpose" in the DPK stands for?

There are three grades of kerosene:

ATK (aviation type kerosene which is essentially Jet A1)
HHK (household kerosene)
DPK (dual purpose kerosene which can be used as domestic cooking fuel and can be modified for aviation use).

Have you heard that any aircraft has crashed recently because they used DPK?

It is always proper for people to study situations and get their facts straight before publishing.

That said, it is unethical to source DPK locally at N40.90 (NNPC price) and sell the same as Aviation kerosene (Jet A1). At the end of the day, the high air fares being paid by passengers is the end-result of such practices.
