There is no such thing as love, or romantic love. It is a culture created in the 1600's by knights in England. For much of human history, we can see that unions/marriage are formed by common need to pass along properties to the next generation, or to form unions between countries, and families. Another explanation is that the Human mind likes to rationalize attraction, while in reality, it is biological, and socially constructed. Women like tall guys, and this is biological. This "feeling" is rationalized by the mind as "love", but it is just her genes tell her that the guy is a worthy mate.

Jones (2007) summarized it aptly when he said that the only time it is acceptable to be a biased, self-deceiving liar is when we are under the delusion of love.

It is indeed funny that the only proof adherents of the "love" delusion have come up with in this debate is that, love exists because they FEEL/KNOW/BELIEVE it exists. What a despicable and irrational way of thinking by a learned human being! It is the same passionate irrationality people use to indulge in ridiculous belief systems such as religion, and yet they can't proffer a rationale for their beliefs. It is analogous to people choosing to remain in their comfort zone because they can't stand the public ridicule they may experience when they choose to question their long-standing erroneous beliefs. What a delusion indeed!

For someone who supposedly clings on to logic so much, it's indeed funny that the only "proof" you have been able to present in favour of your argument so far is that "love does not exist because its definition is subjective"; and you expect to be taken seriously. This, my friend, is beyond despicable and irrational. It is just plain sad, considering that you consider yourself a learned human being. Your logic is just so, so faulty.

I think you're simply catching trips and only trying to wind people up here. But just so some people won't take you seriously, allow me to address this point.

1. Success
2. Fun
3. Disaster

^^ The only delusional person here is you, claremont. Even if love does not exist as you claim, you're doing an extremely poor job at presenting a tenable argument in support of your claim. "Love does not exist because its definition is subjective" - that's your argument. In other words, emotions that have subjective definitions do not exist; which invariably renders other emotions such as Fear, Joy and Anger non-existent as well. Are you even reading what you're typing at all?

Apparently, our dear claremont here has a longstanding semantic feud with the word "love".

So in your infinite wisdom, the only reason why it cannot be called "love" is because it is expressed differently? If that's the case, then that state of extreme happiness and elation shouldn't really be called "Joy" either. Afterall, it is also "subjective" and "varies among different people".

But at least, you do agree that there is a display of affection - an expression of emotions. Feel free to name it something else then, and allow the rest of the world to continue with their "love delusion".

P.S. You may have a point, but you're presenting very weak arguments to buttress it.

I think you're better off labelled an agnostic - Strong Agnostic. Atheism is barely compatible with the concept of creation - if at all - as such adoption would inevitably negate the very essence of the atheistic stance. Or better still, an Agnostic Deist, since you believe the universe was created, only that you don't and won't give a hoot who or what this creator(s) is/are, or has to offer because it is your belief that such knowledge is beyond the limits of our scope.

Reminds me of when people started to accuse syrup and shahan of being the same person because of their similar writing and formatting styles back in da dayz!

Lots of the older folks used to have similar patterns too: Gwaine, bari_kade, 4get_me, welborn, mlks_baby, m4malik, Telly B, stimulus. Infact, compare Telly B / shahan / mlks_baby and you'll likely arrive at a viaro too. The shahan - pilgrim.1 similarity was particularly striking for me - the diction, use of language, formatting styles, etc.

The thing is, we have had a number of people in the past here in this Religion section who not only typed in similar ways, but also shared similar opinions on a wide range of topics. I really don't think this is any different.

Guys, guys, chill out, please. Though I believe it's glaring from the comments on the first page here that spikedcylinder and mukina did know him personally, I still think El Razur's and kobojunkie's demand for further clarification/confirmation was not misplaced (Any old-timer that remembers the 2006 papermoon debacle should understand what I'm driving at here). So perhaps, Kobojunkie's persistent, somewhat stoic comments did not go down well with most people on here, at the end of the day I believe everyone is still concerned one way or the other.
