Dynatron: Dear Quodkom,
So sorry about my silence.Been working on my SOP etc
1.I have differed my admission now to September to allow enough time for processing. 2.My current job pays well ,i believe its compelling enough but we could talk offline so you can also review and recommend. 3.I believe it shows progression (unconventional initially) as i studied theatre arts ,worked as customer service, customer service or operations mgr in a bank, now i work as snr consultant business process improvement (financial services). Now i want to do an M.A in leadership business..
Could you please permit me to email you my SOP? Kindly send your email address if okay by you. Also on my rejection,i want to send you a doc to advice me on how to write my letter of explanation. Thanks in advance.
[quqote author=Qudkom post=77805066] Firstly, in reply to your first paragraph. I know you have some documents together but please don't feel you need to rush an application. You need to sit down and consider all your options before submitting. But regardless I want you to put the following in perspective:
1. Your program starts July which means orientation probably kickstarts in June. Does the current visa processing time (cic) give you enough time to process your visa application?
2. I am sorry to say but this is my opinion. If your current job in which you haven't been there for 6months give you a supposed study leave your status and salary has to be convincing enough to a VO to compell you to come back home to it.
3. Does the the current job show progression in your career in relationships to your undergraduate degree and potential study program?.
Other than this I believe your hometies and financial portfolio is decent. So please plan accordingly. No problem. |

4evaco: Urgent Help Needed Please
Hi all. I have still not been able to get a clear direction on how to go about this issue. I have contacted Lagos CIC and I was told my daughter doesn't need a visa. I sent another email asking them if she needs to do medicals since she has been in Nigeria for more than 6 months but no reply till now.
My cousin who lives in Canada helped me contact CIC there and was also told that my daughter doesn't need a visa, however, she will need ETA -electronic travel authorisation because she will be staying longer than 6 months which is the maximum duration an American can stay in Canada without a visa except he/she applies for extension. The CIC customer service agent sent one IRCC link about ETA for more details. I have gone through the link but when I entered my daughter's information, I got the feedback that she doesn't need ETA as a US citizen. As it stands now, I am confused. So, I am desperately seeking guidance from anyone who has had a similar case as I intend to submit my application this week. Thank you. Hello. An eta is a very fast process for visa exempt countries and costs a refundable $85 should incase it was refused. The eta is also sent to your email once approved. If you tried applying for your child and was told she doesn't require one then print out the notification and present it at the poe in Canada. Also as a USA citizen she can stay in canada for 6months without a visa ideally. so worse case scenario you apply for her there. |

Oganammuo: Pls all the gurus in the house, help me with this question. I am working with my HND accounting. Masters is a must in my field for promotion and other incentives. I've been brousing and realise that no matter how high my cgpa is, I can't be admitted into Canadian uni for masters in accounting. I have two options: 1yr PGD or 2yrs PGD. Now choosing Iyr PGD, so I can come back and use it to enrole into masters in Nigeria. Or 2yrs PGD, which is more convincing cos my aim is to obtain masters?
Can I progress to masters in Canada after completing a PGD program with HND cert? It's difficult progressing into Msc. Program with and hnd certificate. Your best route towards a masters degree program is a Post baccalaureate diploma program. A post baccalaureate program is a bridge between the bsc credits you are lacking and a potential msc program should you come out in flying colours. I will also advise you to seek the institutions admission department so they can guide you accordingly. All the best. |

Obehi44: Finally guys I got the response but was a refusal. See below. " I am refusing your application on the following grounds. I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary residents, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR. Base on your financial assets and financial status."
Now I need your advice because I intend to reapply. Closing balance on my account was 1.8m while the sponsor which is my husband is 10million + The only assets I included was the land document of me and my husband.
Please all suggestions will be appreciated. Sorry about your refusal. However getting your gcms note is a default thing to do. I'd like to state my initial verdict on your refusal. You are a mature applicant and the cost of study in CND in lieu to the amount available does not justify your return. We are talking about a program and living expenses in the tune of almost 7million yearly. And apparently maybe your husband didn't show proof of future financial earnings to justify his ability to meet up future expenses. Also your employment condition is also a huge factor. In your next application you need to show more financial prowess and economic and financial ties to Nigeria in the form of; Personal bank deposits, bonds, and stocks and any other financial assets you can compile. A piece of land does not compel you to return. Perhaps you should explain vividly what you intend to do with the land; Agriculture, future office, warehouse etc. I am really interested in your application and I hope you figure it out and use your resources to good use. Remember apply caution and dont look desperate in your next application. All the best. |

Kennylad90: Good evening guys, I just got admitted into University of Waterloo and I want to apply for my visa. Please can someone assist me on what necessary steps to take Congratulations on your approval. You're in the right platform to get all the information you seek and like I always tell people, you can use similar documents but always remember everyone as a unique case. You can start by following this tips; 1. Get a sponsor with a decent financial portfolio. Parents are the best option to sponsor. And if you're making use of a 3rd party sponsor then make sure you prove the relationship that exists. 2. Show a proper time line of your study gaps and supporting documents to prove it. 3. Employment documents and future job/business prospects is a must to prove your chances of returning. 4. Police character certificate to show you haven't been convicted for any crimes. These are simple tips and if you take your time to go through the forum you'll get more. Good luck. |

Ibitowaoa: If I book an appointment for biometrics what is the time interval am most likely be schedule for one. Within how many days pls because I will be coming from Osogbo to Lagos to come have it done and would love to have it done on time. Or should I just take the risk and go hoping that they will answer me ? You don't need to book an appointment, in Nigeria it's a waste of time. Just gey there very early. I booked an appointment also and realised it didn't count. Either ways I used about 25mins there. Goodluck. |

oluwadelana: Thank you for this. I will be 31 by dec. I genuinely want to go for a Bsc just to correct my first degree. Just that it is possible i do a change of program after everything(i mean when i land canada). Guess my chances are slim because of my age but will shoot my shot 1) So is it possible i include it in my statement of purpose?
2)Do i need a letter of English Proficiency? Go for a program higher than a Bsc. If you don't show progression with the difficulty level in getting a visa for Nigerian applicant you'll most likely be refused for not proving you're a bonafide student and purpose of visit. That's my simple advice for you. You have a lot of experience, and if you can prove it you can always go for pre masters. |

Paixman: Good evening, my undergraduate degree is Accounting. I dont plan Stating in my application that I have a masters degree . ( my masters degree have nothing. To do with my undergraduate, it’s a special masters for those with chinese language proficieny certificate program for teaching chinese to speakers of other language i.e on scholarship ) I want to further my career in business program since it’s related to my undergraduate program. ( please if you don’t understand I’m willing to explain more ) Ok I understand now. You can definitely make use of your undergraduate degree in accounting to pursue a business program in Canada. |

Paixman: Please what is the difference between PGC and PGD . I am a HND holder ( Accounting ) currently doing my first masters in china ( international education in chinese ) I plan applying for a masters program in Canada ( want to go for a business related course ) but I need to go for PGD first . Most schools that offer my choice course Are in PGC ( can I still use PGC to apply for my masters ) PGC, PGD etc. are all under the same pre masters bracket. However I don't understand why you want to go from an msc program in china to a PGD program in canada. There isn't any consistency in that academic approach and you wl most likely be refused under "Purpose of visit" and VO not convinced you're a bonafide student. Also, going from education to a business program doesn't show any progression/consistency. Plan accordingly to avoid making regretful mistakes. |

icagbons: Hello Gurus in the house. I am 30 years old, HND graduate of Mechanical Engineering Technology. I want to study Aviation Maintenance Technician in Canada, but I don't know any good and cheap school to apply to, also I don't know all the necessary process I will go thru. Please you guys should assist me with all the info I will need. I am new here.
Thanks With an HND your best route is probably a graduate certificate from a college or advanced diploma. Nobody can give you all the information and guideline you need however; 1. You will need to gain admission to a DLI (designated learning institute) before commencing visa processing. 2. To apply you need your education credentials (waec certificate, transcript and hnd certificate) to apply to colleges. 3. My best advice would be to go for a GRADUATE CERTIFICATE program. 4. Make sure you clarify the living expense in the province/city you are applying to and check their refund policy before payment. Lastly, application fees for admission are non refundable. This are the basic information you need. To start your journey. |

Philomathhh: Hello guys,
Is it normal to get a mail from cic prompting you to check your portal for a new message, and only for you to login to realize that there's no message in there?
How long does it usually take to be called for medical examination?
Lastly, does anyone tracking ID indicate "No result found"? There was probably a status update, perhaps your background check or eligibility review as started. About the tracking number, almost everyone that gets tracking id from vfs after biometrics get the same message so discard it. |

Olakunlae: Hello Gurus in the house!
I applied for TRV for adegree program on the 7th April; got denied on 8th May with VO citing Purpose of visit, Travel history and Personal and financial assets as reasons. I ordered gcms note on 16th.
My concern is waiting for the gcms would mean shorter period for visa application and processing -- Since the earliest time I might likely get the gcms is on 16th June whereas and my Sch resumes 4 Sep.
I'm looking at taking a risk of re-applying now or wait till I get the gcms notes.
Your Candid advice will be appreciated. @Frankrobbn1 @Qudkom et. al I'll advice you defer your admission. You have 3 refusal clause how can you asssume and reapply. I understand how it feels like but the last thing you want is to rush your next application and submit a "desperate" application. Please calm down get the gcms note and reapply. |

Somalian360: Hello Nairalanders and guru's! I'm new here. It appears this is the best alternative to paying huge sums of money to agents... From what I've been reading, the support here is overwhelming. Got rejected for Canadian study permit (within 3 weeks of online application, haven done biometrics) with the following reasons; Travel History, Purpose of Visit and Personal Assets and Financial Status.
I observed it's common, so I plan to re-apply as soon as possible. My question is this: there are so many documents not listed on the online application but is listed in the paper application (e.g WAEC, NYSC, TRANSCRIPT, etc); Please how do I attach this documents to my online application since it's not specified? I mean what segment is each additional document suppose to fall under for online application or must I also do the paper application and then link the two?
Also I applied for my GCMS note on the 15/05/2019, heard it takes 30 days, nothing yet, anybody got there's earlier than 30 days? I'm anxious to know what went wrong and the right way to avoid any slip up this time around! I suspect I dint attach enough documents, and my SOP was not very detailed, or maybe cause I gained admission in a co-op program (Petroleum systems Engineering MEng), etc. Fingers crossed...
Please I need the advice of persons that have been successful in their online application (without paper application), if any. Thanks and God bless. Sorry about the refusal, I hope you get answers to your questions here. Your gcms note is important in dealing with previous denial. You get a good outlook on what you need for the new application. Also, any additional documents education credentials, work documents etc should be placed in the "client information" section in the online application. Lastly, you'll need a convincing sop and loe. |

sashaa: Congrats to all those who recently got their approvals. God has indeed been faithful. Thanks also to all the gurus that have helped make that happen.
For proof of employment, is it okay if i don't include an introduction letter? I was asked by HR to provide the concurrence of my line supervisors and group head before they can issue it and i honestly don't want an exposure like that. I want to just use my employment letter, staff id and last promotion letter. Ofcourse i will also be submitting my salary account.
PS: Please is there anyone here with banking experience currently applying or with approval already. I will like to connect. There are so many documents that can be used as proof of employment. You don't have to submit excessive documents to this effect. I also understand you might want to conceal youe intentions about travelling at work. So if you have the employment letter you got when you started working plus your work ID Card then you are good to go. You can also submit your salary account if possible. Don't stress yourself out on protocol. |

Kishkosh: Guys. I can not thank you all enough . Original passport request . First time applicant with virgin passport .
Application lodged on the 12th of June 2018 with upfront medicals. Biometrics done on the 22nd of June 2018 . And medicals updated as passed on the 7th of August 2018 and that same day my eligibility review started. And since then , I didn't hear from the embassy . because of the delay I lost my admission and I had to reapply again as the school does not defer ... a specialised and highly competitive programme . Fortunately I was offered admission the second time and I mailed my new admission letter to the embassy and also sent an updated statement of account alongside the new admission. Since then , I've been bombarding them with mails. I sent mails to several MPs, about 7 responded and took up my case , including the PM and Minister for immigration , I even extended my mails to the senators and speaker of the House and also the some Assistants or top personnel in IRCC office.
I didn't stop . I kept sending mails to anyone I see as a too official in Canada because my understanding is that they can't refuse me visa cuz I'm sending several mails(i don't know who has that thought ) And just today , I got the passport request .
Thank you everyone . special thanks to Makano(this dude advised me not to withdraw my apllication just yet and told me to keep sending mails. Makano will connect me to his office internet and tell me to check nairaland visa section for updates . I will go prepare the place for you bro, I'm your John the Baptist , yours will come in no time) @frankrobbn1 , @kpizzle ,this dude called me late in the night , shared his experience and gave me reasons to keep hopes high when I was hell bent on withdrawing my application. @Asapant, my man . You're blessed . @qudkom, @sillysassysally @justmellow @austacus @bracha and all other persons who gives to this section of the forum , God bless you all. Good work you guys are doing ... Thanks It is similar as they both show progression. However the post baccalaureate us almost like a second degree or should I say a certificate that boosts your previous degree and can be used for msc admission in future. The advanced diploma is often a good pathway if you have a very low cgpa and also streamlined and makes you employment ready after completion. |

Amahjosh: Hello Gurus in the house Frank,Justmellow,Bracha and other gurus I have a question,
I am going for a year PGD course in George Brown college, I am a self sponsored applicant my employer is acting as a co-sponsor and they stated in their sponsorship letter that they will sponsor me with 6 million naira but the SOA they printed has a balance of just 6.1M with good inflow and outflow. Will this fly owing the balance is abit small and they said they won't make any transfer to my personal account until my visa is approved.
Please i need answers thank you If you plan on staying back then a one year program will only guarantee you 8months-1yr work permit. A 2 year program would have been great. Also VOs are usually skeptical about 1 year programs they sometimes feel people are trying to use it to immigrate to canada hence, they might feel you are not a bonafide student. Lastly, no VO will believe a company will sponsor you to that tune!!!! Why would they want to do that. There isn't any reasonable explanation to that. I mean is your father, mother or relative a director there? Even at that there are business expenses to contain among others!!! |

After my GCE A level in 2010 i traveled to china i had a language certificate then to the UK came back in end 2014 and started my diploma in early 2015 and had it in 2017 and had a first job back home in 2014 as an inventory controller then in 2016 as a digital content developer(not related to my background) then when i got my diploma i started working for y Dad i multitask in his company any managerial and financial task i do but in file for the visa i put Internal control assistant because it the course on my diploma which i had the highest grade. I don't know if this was a mistake and if in my next application i should change? Or will they check my previous files records? Bro this isn't the proper channel for these narrations. Please I need answer to this. Because I am beginning to wonder if it can ever happen. very possible. Travel history refusals accompany other grounds and isn't a standalone reason. Once a VO questions your "Purpose of Visit" and questions if you are a bonafide student the next thing is to tick travel history. When going through post graduate programs especially for universities there is always ca pathways for msc programs. Some colleges have affiliate with universities which can slso be a good pathway. So you have to research and find out. |
