tpia: a lot of the towns mentioned here where mass killings occurred, are not in Igboland.
Were all of the people killed in these places Igbo, or were some of them non-Igbo?
Your reasoning is warped. Does this Q sound intelligent to you in the course of this discus? Who were those being sought for killing?
There were Igbos killed in Benin and Lagos Were those Igbolands? Or do you need help to figure out that Igbos are in virtually every nook and crany of that failed state you call Nigeria
fresh-B: Thanks to you-tube- i have enjoyed some of our Nigerian gospel songs from there especially the traditional praise (eg Chioma Jesus by Sis Amaka Okwuoha) and war (eg Prince Gozie Okeke's) songs. Infact I liked them that I have placed my orders on them.
Whoever knows these musians and their likes should ask them to do more not forgetting Benin singers as well as others i may not have heard of.
As you commend them for praising God in our cultural way do advice (with love and respect) Mrs and Mr Njideka Okeke of Akanchawa (spelling error maybe) to stop mixing gospel songs with secular kissing and smooching. This un-African and un-Christian dance sends a contrasting message to viewers both adult and underage wholly equivocating the message. Imagine what picture and thoughts you will uncontrollably have when when you try to sing Mrs Njideka's after watching such smooches
abeg I have their videos, where exactly do you see these smoochings? Un african and Unchrisian wetin? You people have come again
", it (mass starvation) is a legitimate aspect of war, " Anthony Enahoro, Nigerian Commissioner for Information at a press conference in (New York, July 1968)
"Bestialities and indignities of all kinds were visited on Biafrans in 1966. In Ikeja Barracks (Western Nigeria) Biafrans were forcibly fed on a mixture of human urine and feaces. In Northern Nigeria numerous Biafran house-wives and nursing mothers were raped before their husbands and children. Young girls were abducted from their homes, working places and schools and forced into sexual intercourse with sick, demented and leprous men." Mr. Erif Spiff (Eyewitness, 1966)
"Starvation is a legitimate weapon of war, and we have every intention of using it against the rebels, "(Alison Ayida, Head of Nigerian Delegation, Niamey Peace Talks, Republic of Niger, July 1968) "All is fair in war, and starvation is one of the weapons of war. I don't see why we should feed our enemies fat in order for them to fight harder." Chief Obafemi Awolowo(Minister of Finance)
" , the Ibos must be considerably reduced in number"(Lagos Policeman quoted in New York Review, 21 December, 1967)
"There has been genocide on the occasion of the 1966 massacres, the region between the towns of Benin and Asaba where only widows and orphans remain, federal troops having, for unknown reasons, massacred all the men" (Le Monde, 5th April, 1968)
"In Calabar, federal forces shot at least 1000 and perhaps 2000 Ibos, most of them civilians" (New York Times, 18th January, 1968).
"The greatest single massacre occurred in the Ibo town of Asaba where 700 Ibo male were lined up and shot"(London Observer, 21 January, 1968)
"Federal troops, killed, or stood by while mobs killed, more than 5000 Ibos in Wari, Sapele, Agbor, " (New York Times, 10th January, 1968)
"In some areas outside the East, Ibos were killed by local people with at least the acquiescence of the federal forces, 1000 Ibo civilians perished in Benin in this way "(New York Review, 21 December 1967)
" after the federal take over of Benin, troops killed about 500 Ibo civilians after a house-to-house search" (Washington Morning Post, 27 September, 1967)
"I want to see no Red Cross, no Caritas, no World Council of Churches,no Pope, no missionary and no UN delegation. I want to prevent even one Ibo fron having even one piece to eat before their capitulation. We shoot at everything that moves and when our troop march into the centre of Ibo territory, we shoot at everything even at things that do not move, " ( Benjamin Adekunle. Commander, 3rd Marine Commando Division, Nigerian Army).
"Let us go and crush them. We will pillage their property, rape their womenfolk, kill off their menfolk and leave them uselessly weeping. We will complete the pogrom of 1966" (The theme song of Radio Kaduna, government-controlled, 1967-1970).
", The war aim and (final) solution properly speaking of the entire problem, is to discriminate against the Ibos and in their own interest. Such discrimination would include above all the detachment of those oil-rich territories in the Eastern Region. In addition, the Ibos' freedom of movement would be restricted, to prevent their renewed penetration into other parts, leaving any access to the sea to the Ibos, is quite out of the question, " (Federal Nigerian Minister to E. C. Schwarzenback, Swiss Review of Africa, February 1968)
I saw the pictures of Biafra on youtube and I couldn't eat and sleep. I was almost depressed. The suffering is not compared to anything. The stories my mom and grandmom told me meant nothing until I saw those youtube clips.
My great uncles told us of hausas and northerners dragging off Easterners off moving trains.People who were fleeing already o, slaughtering them in cold blood. This was in 1966 before the war even started. Trains started off in Jos full of Igbos but by the time it got to Nsukka area it was full of corpses and near corpses. I hate reading about the Biafran war,it brings me to tears.
That's why I bring out my claws whenever I hear people talk nasty of Igbos because it was the same hatred that led to genocide of Igbos in Northern Nigeria before the war even started.
Ijiji1: If you an Igbo man or woman and you've not read the book Half Of A Yellow Sun by Ngozi Adichie, plseas hurry to Amazon.com or wherever you get your books and pick up a copy. The used one is less that $10.00 very cheap if you ask me. The book is the the most captivating book I've ever read trust me. I just finished reading mine and seriously I don't know if I can ever face a Hausa person without hate spilling out of my veins.
Ijiji welu nwayo Nwanne m nwoke Kanayo Chukwu. Ndi Igbo kwezuenu ! O gadi nma Infact,O di si go nma Igbo kwenu!

Dear Mr so so LETTER OF GRATITUDE I would like to thank you again for interviewing me for the Medicine Residency Program on November 28, 2007. It was a great pleasure to meet you and learn more about the program. I was particularly impressed with what you told me about the high priority given to teaching and clinical care in the program. During the hospital tour, I was highly impressed by the range of training facilities on ground, the interaction with other residency programs, the diversity of the patient population and the commitment of the program to health care needs of disadvantaged communities. The faculty, residents and staff were very nice and friendly. For these reasons and more, I have decided that University Hospital Medicine Residency Program will be the best place for me to continue my training. I hope you will seriously consider me for a residency position. Thank you once again for offering me a chance to visit your program and meet with you. If you have any questions whatsoever or would like any further information to complement my application, please do not hesitate to contact me at phone no or at email . I look forward to the opportunity of working with you in future.
Ndipe: One may view it as 'desperado' on your part if you send a thank you letter. Still, it's accepted as a courtesy to do so. For me, I'd advise against doing so. If they call you back, that's fine, if not, so be it.
If you've stood in line waiting for a residency position for years to no avail,no one will tell you to change that postion ,dear. Sucking up works and it doesn't cost a thing.
Hannibal: For real?? You never tumbled in the hay?? Something is def'ly attractive about u then. . . . . Hear him out and letz hear what he has to say!!
The only time I don't do it is when it's a job that I ended up not wnating to be part of due to the interview
If it's a job you really wnat, i suggest a thank you email, make sure you thank every one you met with and once again lay emphasisi on why you believe you are fit for the job.
I was just about to say this before I read it from you.
@ poster, here in the USA if you need that job, it's suicidal not to send a note, letter or e-mail not more than 48 hours after your interview. Make it very short with no spelling errors. Thank the person for meeting with you and also remember to extend your greeting to the secretary, executive assistant and any other surbordinates at the office that helped cordinate your interview process. Make sure to mention them by name.
e.g.
Please extend my warm greetings to Ms Debbie Reynolds, your secretary who co-ordinated my visit and lodging arrangements.
Why don't u edit the topic and delete the "forgive me for lying" bit. . . . .
Did anyone specifically ask u about your kids and u said "NO"??When did not telling the true picture constitute to lying especially when it's your private bizznizz. . . . .
So would i be considered a liar because i have never told anyone about ma beard or moustache?? Honestly, u deserve to be slapped(like Sylvao2000's girlfriend) with the title of the topic.
No but giving a certain impression is equal to lying about something.
You've stated on several occasions, that you're married. I must have missed the one where you said you were just going home to marry. because as long as I've been seeing your posts, I always assumed you were married. Besides, you don't talk like an unmarried person.
Like KM, I thought your confession was going to be about how you're half or fully Yoruba or something. or that your spouse is Yoruba.
I don't think its a big deal, anyway. Unless there's something else going like maybe your husband also signed up here, its just a forum.
hey I can claim I'm a white or Korean girl, just for the fun of it. If someone happens to meet me in person, then they can bust the lie. In the meantime, most people are just here to have fun.
Its people who are here to date each other who should worry about how they're representing themselves, in my opinion. Like if someone is looking for a boyfriend, she should let him know if she has 8 kids all under 10. its only fair. And vice versa.
Yes,I gave the impression that I got married under 2 years ago when that's not the case. baba osisi and myself have been married longer than that. so anyone who read my "ex calling me thread" would understand why it was strange that an ex fiancee will call after so many years.(which is true BTW) You know it takes several lies to sustain a lie so that's why I decided to do this and set myself free from anyother para lies
4 Play: No truer words have ever been spoken by you. Alas, we have a confession from you that you have 'half a brain'. . . . . you might as well start your own thread so we can discuss remedies.
Oya mine is a minor case. He should start by posting a picture let's know if he's male or transgendered
OMO IBO: u dim witted fools seem to be missing a point here. im prolly the one with half a brain around. i do not hate osisi or anyone on nairaland. the reason for laying emphases on the fact the told porkies is the 'principle'. u do not lie about kids. forget marital staus.
she's getting a pat on the back because she is popular.
u guys really are a bunch of idiots.
If I weren't saved I would have said let Amadioha and shango combine to scatter that ya coco nut head. anu mpam!
Shey you know now that you've fessed up,you've gotta behave more like a responsible mother on this forum because if you don't,you'll be crucified faster than lightening. As in,what kind of mother is she and bla bla.Just stating a fact. . .afterall Nairaland will always be Nairaland. Don't leave yourself open for such.
Honey.I'll always be me e no dey me for mouth. mother or no mother wife or no wife if I want to say it,I give it out real and hard that thing wey go happen tomorrow make e happen today
Queenisha: You are a smart man. A few others also thought so and voiced it. I still think you're the most eligible bachelor on nairaland. I hope TOH is reading this
Uche2nna: I have always considered You as a married woman with kids. You did not fool me one bit You have kids written all over your posts
You are a smart man. A few others also thought so and voiced it. I still think you're the most eligible bachelor on nairaland. I hope TOH is reading this
