The so called professor pastor wants to move gas to power plants around Nigeria with trucks, he surely thinks gas for power plants is the same thing as cooking gas, idiota.

Pastors should concentrate on fleecing the tithes and offering of their congregation instead of joining politics and trying to fleece us all with lies.

APC e-rats please educate your professor, we know Buhari is dumb, but if the vice is also blockhead then you guys are in trouble. explain to him, Gas for power plant is methane and you don't transport methane around in trucks. Cooking gas that is distributed with trucks is either liquid propane of liquid Butane and no country in the world generate public power from expensive propane and butane in the presence of massive amounts of cheap methane. And by the way we do not even have enough manufacturing capacity for propane and butane for even home cooking not to talk of using it for power generation.
The countries that transport LNG for electricity only exist in mars I suppose. Kmt

I read this and laughed. The real thugs of Nigeria.

Onto the more important parts of the article. If it's true that the military have no business policing elections? then why did Jega postpone it? Could it be that Jega is working hand in hand with these criminals to rig the election in favor of PDP?
PoliticsRe: Questions About The North? Will Help Clear Some Misconceptions by queensmith: 11:35am On Feb 12, 2015
Thank you both.

Rawani your post was brilliant, I realize today I don't have one (non mixed) friend from the North, if I was to believe my parents its simply because they have no interest in traveling abroad or making money but matters always have to have more depth.

The issue with the missionaries was wide spread and does in fact still continue to cause trouble in various communities today definitely not just in Nigeria or only amongst the North.

I don't believe western education is the only way, and I do often worry Nigerians don't pay enough attention to their own cultures, which of course makes matters worse as we don't actually make efforts to understand the people with whom we share a nation and in turn we don't do enough to cater to their needs.

Learning Arabic is just as important as learning English and indeed learning local languages and cultures. A true leader will ensure that our children are well versed in many local languages, cultures, religions, traditional and in addition has sufficient western knowledge to take advantage of he diversity and stimulate economic growth and inter tribal relationships.

We have a long way to go. But it does start with threads like this, I hope you are not discouraged, so long as we understand and respect each other well, times will get better.

PoliticsRe: Questions About The North? Will Help Clear Some Misconceptions by queensmith:
Thank you for this Arewa very informative thread. I also admire your patience and polite tone which must be difficult in the face of soo much hatred and bigotry.
I apologize if you have already answered this I haven't been through the whole thread, but returning to the colonial policies you mentioned earlier - we are no longer in colonial times which is obvious, have there been no efforts by the Northern leaders to provide suitable education? Is there no encouragement by them currently?

owobokiri:
Having lived a bit in the north-Kano to be precise- I am of the opinion that religion is the bane of the core north. This "problem" is made worse by the fact that the dominant fulani feudalistic control of northen cultural structures seem to fiercely guard against change of any sort. Agents of change , both politically or in such areas as education and religion are ferociously singled out and treated as outcasts on their way to a certain annihilation! Put succintly; in the main, the north is largely culturally stagnant! Where she culturally develops, it is backwards! This surprises because this very uncommon. You can only find instances like this in places like afghanistan. In essence, it wouldn't be far fetched to suggest that the dominant fulani ruling house cleverly introduced an atarvistic strand of islam that shares a family lineage with the horrofic brand unleashed on Kabul by the talibans!
How else will you describe a situation where ordinary northerners run away from modern houses because modern gadgets are "worldly"? They prefer their prehistoric mud houses in the villages, not because of poverty, but because the fulani islamic foundamentalist purists who conquered the less fanatical Hausa kingdoms insisted that cave existence is the way forward. Formal education is termed "western", then is mangled with certain revolting hedonistic western lifestyles. This provides the background for the demistification/derision and eventual destruction of education in the north! The result? A massive population bereft of basic skills to compete in a rapidly modernising economy. The same warped interpretation of the koran unleashed a ruthless version of shariah that has accentuated the ranks of radicals and fanatics within arewaland! To save the north we need an Antartuk willing to dismantle a retrogressive fulani oligarchy full of unhinged emirs using religion to stall societal progress.
This is an eye opener.

Chiaka:
Well if he will not use the same measures he used years back. Why is he not open about the measures he intends now to use.
I mean we need to know. A National debate would clear/mere doubts but he declined. Ad in all his rallies he never made up to a 3mins
speech of nothing to hold to , no details of how he hopes to achieve any of his promises, sounds unclear.
Most things people shout about that Buhari did was been done buy his deputy Idiagbon (of blessed memory now), he was the brain. Buhari doesn't have Nigerians at heart he has muslim fulanis/hausa at heart we need people who has the whole nation at heart, Yoruba, Ibo, central people, south south, Fulani, hausa every one at heart......and that man is Good luck Jonathan. Nigeria is really in a bad shape and he has to work extra to make any lasting impression but the man has tried and will do more we move forward and not backward......like the saying goes forward ever, backward never.
How specific do you want him to be? Do you think GEJ has failed in curtailing the insurgents because the insurgents are highly skilled, outnumber and outspend our military and possess advanced technology and equipment?

The man answered the question!! He will apply the resources we have!! It's enough! an army of 130k to a few thousand miscreants? It's an embarrassing joke! The truth is GEJ has and never will be committed to resolving Nigerias BH problem!

That being said I will like to know what details GEJ has given us about anything? Neither of them have a convincing game plan, but we have experienced 4 years of Jona and can clearly see he can't do nadda!

I don't care who he has at heart (though it's been said many times Buhari is a staunch nationalist) anybody committed to eliminating corruption and removing these terrorists has my vote 20 thousand times.
PoliticsRe: My Discussion With A Government Contractor Who Wants GEJ Out - Agabai23 by queensmith: 7:50pm On Feb 10, 2015
agabaI23:
This is speculation. You said my encounter which is very real is not real but you want me to believe your hypothesis. You went on to discuss based on your hypothesis without validating it because that is how you want it to be to serve your purpose. haba madam.
No I actually took a sympathetic view of your post, because I am genuinely trying to identify the positives of GEJ. It's what I understand from the details you have posted. You may have more info than me which will help elaborate but you haven't mentioned any. Why else will someone not like additional controls to a project? If you plan on carrying them out you shouldn't have a problem with the structure in place.

agabaI23:
You are no longer talking about not executing project because you know he has so many executed. Now it is delay in time and increased cost. Better than total denial. .
No I'm speaking of any project that's 100% GEJ, please name one.

agabaI23:
In project management, projected completion is an educated guess made based on assumptions that monies will be available as at when needed and that everything goes on as planned. If you have a good project manager, he measures the earned value frequently to keep cost on tract. Sometimes, all things are not always equal, delays are inevitable and with delays come extra cost depending on the type or terms of contract.
Good thing is you agreed that projects were completed and commissioned wink.
An overall estimate is often sufficient, experienced contractors can tell you how long a project will take (I'm strictly speaking infrastructure projects here) extra cost and delays may be inevitable if we don't negate the quality of the job. Again I ask you to name one worthy of a federal government

agabaI23:
Please can you give an example at least of those type of projects?
As per quality, I think you are on your own except you give examples. Otherwise you are just stating a mere wish for GEJ non-peformance and our backwardness.
Let's start with GEJs railway scam, which I understand wasn't started by him, hasn't been finished and doesn't even do what was promised?

agabaI23:
Madam, why should I ask when I am in the know and you are also in the know because your grouse now is about time and cost which you have not substantiated.
I mean is it far fetched for us to expect you to substantiate these claims? You are trying to sell us something, at least give us a reason to buy it? The president doesn't only affect our present, he dictates our future and determines how Nigerias story will be written in history. It's not too much to ask for a sensible reason why you'll claim he has done 'o soo well'

ok copying and pasting is just too long - to the rest that you've said are these claims true? You do know what the figures are currently on unemployment and poverty? If you don't I'll find them for you.

It belittles a federal government to send students abroad, how has he improved education at home?

The agropreneur scheme is also likely a scam, I know not one farmer that has benefited from this (I know many many farmers!)

This apparent lottery scheme you speak of, supposing it existed and wasn't just another one of GEJs 419 tactics, how is this a more sensible policy than putting the money towards plugging the corruption gone wild under his watch?
PoliticsRe: Buhari's Interview With Al Jazeera (Video) by queensmith: 8:55pm On Feb 09, 2015
Brilliant interview - I think he has answered all the questions and explained himself for the tough regime he once presided.

Also, I hope all the pdp theives and criminals heard well that he said he wont go after you? There is no need to postpone the election (I believe they were trying to extend their time for the fear of Buhari is the beginning of wisdom!! grin) I can imagine them all hastily trying to cover their tracks some trying hard to bury their private jets underground somewhere!

Don't worry yourselves you are safe, here is a subtle promise of immunity grin
PoliticsRe: My Discussion With A Government Contractor Who Wants GEJ Out - Agabai23 by queensmith: 8:14pm On Feb 09, 2015
Lets actually entertain this 'contractor' story for a minute

What I'm getting, is the change in government affected this contractors ability to take on ghost contracts? More likely there's a new set of vultures are receiving them in his place because I can't remember reading about a single project executed and commissioned within GEJs era to the cost and times initial promised - talk less of the quality.

His second grudge, when this 'contractor' said GEJ has done 'soo well' you didn't care to ask him to expatiate? Provide examples? Is he a farming contractor? What exactly did GEJ and NOI do so well? Same for trade and investment, you didn't hear poverty almost doubled as did the unemployment rates? How exactly is the performance anything but appalling?

I'm not too sure what the purpose of this story is but it's told us nothing, if anything I'm in the firm belief GEJ supporters are as daft as he is. Good performance is just that there are no grey areas - he's either improved the country or not. In the face of global performance the man has even set the economy backwards. How in this digital era a large number of youths remain unemployed is ridiculous.

tbaba1234:
Reading Buhari's biography makes me come to a number of conclusions.

1. Buhari genuinely had the interest of the country at heart but his methods were crude. That passion for Nigeria surrounded with brains like fashola and Osinbajo makes a good combination.

2. He had a zero tolerance for corruption but was not as flexible as he could have been. Not surprising since he was a military head of state.

Nigeria needs a corruption fighter and Buhari fits the bill. Fortunately, he.has to do it under a democracy now.

GEJ has no plans for corruption.

3. Buhari will put the fear of God on corrupt officials. Sometimes, that reputation matters.

4. Buhari is imperfect but offers more than Jonathan.
Absolutely, I 100%,agree. It will be foolish for anyone to assume that Buhari will use the same measures he did over 30 years ago. Times have changed and so have the countries requirements. Corruption is the only thing that has become worse over the years and I'm confident Buhari is capable of dealing with it.
PoliticsRe: Why Is PDP Damn Keen On Bringing Buhari Down (the Guardian Newspaper Pg32) by queensmith: 3:27pm On Feb 09, 2015
EUROBOMBER:
The main reason why I will vote for GEJ is to make a statement. 2015 is about making a point in this country and we must drive that point home even if the gates of hell are opened. The message we must drive into some thick skulls is that Nigeria belongs to all of us. No tribe is born-to-rule while others are born to siddon dey look.

There must be fairness, equity and justice in this country. Power MUST go round if we are truly one Nigeria. Why must a particular group of people continue to terrorize the rest of the nation when they are not in power?

When OBJ, a southerner was in power, they declared Sharia law and caused a series of very violent riots in the north which led to the death of many Southerners and northern Christians.

As soon as Jonathan, another Southerner took over government, boko haram which was previously a rag tag group suddenly transforms into a mighty fighting force, blasting churches to pieces, killing innocent Nigerians and recently seizing towns and abducting our women.

The question is why is it that we cannot have peace when the people from Futa Jalon are not in power?

Buhari will NEVER rule Nigeria again. let me say this loud and clear, the best for Buhari is that he will end up as president of arewastan and maybe Odua republic but Buhari will NEVER rule Nigeria again.

See the people down there that believe Aso Rock is their property, they believe they were born to rule in Nigeria. Whenever they are not in power, they make sure nobody can sleep. See them there. embarassed embarassed embarassed embarassed

Dive-Bomber.
So you will cut off your nose to spite your face is what you are saying? Just so you can see a Southerner rule regardless of how corrupt, inept, incompetent , destructive and anti-nigerian he is?

This is the exact mentality that has led to Nigeria only having the choice of morons and goons in politics. Clearly there is no need for educated individuals to waste their time because Nigerians only vote on the basis of tribes and not sense.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Army Captain Who Leaked Ekiti Election Rigging Tape Speaks by queensmith: 3:14pm On Feb 09, 2015
emmabowin:
I am fully convinced that the ekiti election wasn't rigged. They may be an ulterior motive of the military to rig the election but it didn't came to bear. You can ask INEC to bring the ballot papers for them to be counted again or you can even conduct the election ten more times and fayose would still have won. Now answer this question, if indeed the PDP had rigged the ekiti election, how come they were unable to repeat the same feat in osun in which the Apc won. FYI, it is very difficult to rig election in Nigeria nowadays, thanks to president Jonathan for his electoral reforms and for repositioning INEC
He probably will have won on an even playing field but he decided not to go that way. For that he should be impeached. Its unacceptable that the leader of a state can openly commit such criminal acts. Anything is possible in Nigeria abeg.

@op I wonder why Fayemi hasn't gone to court over this. It's well documented that those individuals were arrested by armed guards during the election, this serves as a witness testimony. There's enough evidence available now to put Fayose away for good. The man is too bold.

PoliticsRe: BBC's Report On Postponement Of Nigeria's Election- A Must Read by queensmith: 11:52am On Feb 08, 2015
Nigerians are powerless against the ruling class, then again so is everyone else. But here the only tool that gives us the illusion of democracy is being taken away.

It wasn't decided yesterday that the elections will hold on he 14th. There's been more than enough time to mobilize troops for the election, judging by the previous one I don't even think the move is entirely necessary especially if the military really is battling against the insurgents in the North. We'd just have to exclude the problem areas and continue.

The state of affairs back home is incredibly disheartening, more so now the elections will hold close to holidays when some might be traveling home with no intention of getting caught up in politics.

Its just a shame that these people can do what they like and continue to get away with it.

The wedding was done in Nigeria from the pictures posted...even Traditional marriage. nothing secret if you ask me. you can see that many people attended the wedding ceremony. Our journalists are just lazy.
i think it's more like they weren't interested.

If the marriage is a legitimate one- I think Goldie was ashamed of her husband, because he's old. The issue of privacy was obviously only a problem to Goldie. Since Andrew Harvey doesn't mind exposing the life they had and his own private life on facebook now she is gone.

If you really wanted privacy you won't be jumping out of the woodworks and issuing 'warnings' to men Goldie was publicly associated with. You won't be having interviews, interviews you didn't have when she was alive. You won't be exposing yourself.

She might have been married before she became famous, because most people didn't even question the fact she uses her husbands name. . . . .which is actually hilarious!
