More lies. I know all about liabilities—I’m a lawyer. Firing him wouldn’t absolve the bill or anyone from financial responsibility and he could’ve owned that whole company for his rights being violated. The way you’re saying the insurer complained to the employer isn’t at all how it works—the insurer would’ve negotiated the costs with the doctors and facilities without involving anyone else. The employee would’ve owed no more than the pre-determined out of pocket portion. Then, like I said before it’s illegal for the insurer to speak to the employer about the employees medicals, costs, or anything else and there are automatic fines plus other legal liabilities if this is done. The thing that insurers do speak to employees about are employees committing insurance fraud—people who think others are stupid get caught doing that all the time.

Anyone here in America who works an honest job and/or has insurance will tell you that story about the triplet’s father being fired is a lie. Even if they would’ve fired him, they would’ve still been on the hook for the bill. It’s illegal for your employer to be granted access your medical records or even be told about them. Insurances also don’t communicate with employers about an employee’s medical expenditures BECAUSE ITS ILLEGAL—if they did, they’d be sued into a million pieces.
What does get you fired though is committing insurance fraud, something your friend may have got caught doing. Don’t believe every thing you hear.

He was fortunate that he wa able to get it done for less without complications in Nigeria. By the way, would the same eye surgery cost just $1000 with inflation as it is today in Nigeria?

2 of the babies were premature and they had to stay back in the hospital for two weeks. Everybody shock when hospital send final bill.

They will not give you 40 hours.

An educated Nigerian professor can never do that job because he will be so depressed and the money sef is nothing to right home about

The small money you make is going to be passing through your hands. Nigeria has almost zero taxation and you have family and friends support.

You are not even coming with approved work permit or you didnt mention it

So u will be doing either nothing or menial jobs that can’t pay any bills.

Abroad is better for people who come in their late teens or early 20s. Because it might take you about 10 years to stabilize

Intellectuals and the good people of nairaland. I just experienced one of the biggest shocks of my life.

As a student of the federal university, I saw a publication for the post of a front desk at a big cyber cafe close to the north wing of our school gate. I applied and followed the recruitment exercise which took 3 weeks of test and interview.

Out of 15 of us that applied for the job of 25k per month, I was picked. I loved it because it only start from 4pm till 9pm. Normally our lectures is from 7am till 1pm. I was happy because it will help me save for my school fees and I hoped to liaison with the students there to learn graphic designing. A skill I love but finance is a burden to enrol and to get a PC.

I was told to resume on Monday. I went there in the evening and the owner came and say my services are no longer needed. I was shocked. I asked him what I did? He didn't answer me. It was the other staff, the manager that told me he will communicate it to me. From Monday till now, I didn't hear from them.

Please, what should I do? I am confused. For those who had similar experience what was your cause. I am so so sad with this. My hope is dashed.

I agreed start date. I negotiated with them when I would start. I had a family burial on that day and I told them I will start a few days after. It was a fresh graduate job.


I got an email the Monday before start date that the offer was rescinded.


I moved on , it’s one of those experiences that you will laugh about in the future.

My office hired a new manager and as I was standing by the side doing something he came up behind me put his hand on my lower back/waist and asked “how are you doing”. At that moment all my usual fire went out of the window and I just froze up. Actually there were 3 other senior staff around who must have seen it and warned him because thereafter, he only tapped my shoulder or shoulder blades (which I dont have any problem with).

Now a couple of days ago I had my hands full again doing something and this man passed behind me, held both sides of my waist very briefly and brushed against my back.

the whole thing was over in less than 5 seconds and I didn’t even see the person until I turned my head to see him watching me from the other side of the office.

bearing in mind this is a senior boss, I don’t feel I can shout or confront as normal so I have just been giving some stern/cold attitudes and stepping out of the way in a more exaggerated way whenever he passes by me. And he has started reciprocating the awkwardness which made it easier for me.
