Loggix: New Data Center Project:
Is anyone familiar with Cisco ISE - Cisco Identity Services Engine Technology. I am currently attending a pre-design, Implementation and deployment training on this new Technology, and it appears to be really cool. With ISE you can secure the LAN/WAN from a single point in the Data Center. Guys read up on it and let's share. For those interested in Data Center Technologies, this is a MUST know technology. It is especially necessary in an Enterprise that has implemented or planning to implement a BYOD [Bring Your Own Device] Policy. My client is going in this direction, hence the Pre-deployment training.
According to Cisco -Qoute
"Next-generation policy networking: ISE is the policy control point for Cisco TrustSec®, a next-generation network technology that controls network and application access from end to end, helps turn business policy into network policy, and gives users seamless anywhere service access. Cisco TrustSec makes it easy for customers to migrate to next-generation policy networking, increasing the value of their ISE investment while ending the pain of VLAN, ACL, and firewall rule administration"

It assists you in securing access to a multitude of Services running on multiple platforms, I.E, Voice, Data, Video, WiFi, up to MAC level, using MACsec. I will learn more as the training progreses. The PRO's sound cool, I am digging in to see what the CONs are. Going to be a long week, oh well.
I was actually involved in d design of ISE for a client in my former company before i left, the coolest thing about it for me is that it replaces all the different devices formerly used in doing NAC and consolidates it in one Box, with posturing, updates, policy enforcement etc in a box.

Blyss: Yeah, that's no surprise considering that you'all have pretty much allowed all of the ancient structural remenents of past empires crumble to nothingness, leading most of the world today to believe that the sub continent has never developed any thriving great civilizations. For example, the towering great moats of Benin City raved about in the Portuguese documentations of their travels to the ancient city.. are basically all gone, due to primarily a lack of care to maintain them for future generations to admire and marvel at.

All that's left are some minute abstract outer ring sections in which are buried under trash and jungle thickets; end result is that today Edo girls are out in mass all over Europe selling thier azzes, do to a lack of education as to the great power people they descend from. What a shame that you African don't cherish your histories as all of the great powers today do, hence the reason they are currently great powers.

Your history is the root of your pride and strength as a people, a lack of respect for it will certainly lead you into self destruction, hence Africa and the PIGS.
Please don't stay on some high horse and just say things that you feel are politically correct. Those moats were still well taken care off until the monarchy and the whole city was razed down by the British, it took a while for the people to start picking pieces of their life, the monarchy that used to finance and enforce some cleanups and maintain all our structures was in exile for decades, and by the time it was restored, it had lost all its powers and had to depend on the new powers for existence and sustenance. Or you expect my grandfather to live his farm and start tending a moat that does not serve any immediate usefulness to him or do you know if they would have been risking their lives to even try and maintain a defensive structure of Benin under the nose of a foreign power.
So if the new powers does not take care of it, how do you expect the king who does not collect taxes and other royal dues or the ordinary folks of benin to take care of such a massive structure as the moat.

In fact how many ancient structures like that were in tact all through their existence, is it not in modern times that people start talking about preservation and what not. How many of the seven ancient wonders of the world are still standing, all the great aztec temples where are they now. All the great temple of zeus, artemis and other great infrastruture of Rome is it not a fraction that are left in place. The great castles of europes that was scattered all over the continent, how many of them are still standing.

Make you go relax jor.
Christianity Etc › Re: Is Easter Celebration Biblical Or is it A Pagan way of Worship? by rabzy: 1:23am On Apr 05, 2013
God has stated in many places that he is a God exacting exclusive devotion and he would not share his glory with anyone else and the scriptures said we should quit touching the unclean thing, God abhor spiritism and anything associated with the worship of demons. Taking a pagan celebration and airbrushing it into a xtian one does not respect God, it does not make the worship exclusive to him and it means we have touched something unclean, cleaned it up and then presented it to our heavenly father.

If my son who decides to voluntarily offer me food, and where he has a choice of other sources of meals/fruits now and then i see him go to a refuse dump, picks up some discarded food items, cleans it up, cook it properly and then presents it to me. I reserve the right to reject it and i will reject it.

That is what was done with Easter, Halloween, Xmas, New Year, All saints days and a host of other 'xtian' festivals. God never Commanded us to do them. but we went ahead pick up some meal from the table of demons and then clean it up and present it to God. I strongly believe he will reject it.

The Israelites that wanted to sacrifice to God did something good and commendable, but when they brought lame and blind animals, then the offerings were no longer 'GOOD ENOUGH', so he rejected them. He asked them to present it to their Kings and see whether it will be accepted, why would anyone think God would now accept these lame xtian celebrations. What is so difficult in leaving these demon-inspired festivities.

(Galatians 4:8-11) . . .Nevertheless, when YOU did not know God, then it was that YOU slaved for those who by nature are not gods. 9 But now that YOU have come to know God, or rather now that YOU have come to be known by God, how is it that YOU are turning back again to the weak and beggarly elementary things and want to slave for them over again? 10 YOU are scrupulously observing days and months and seasons and years. 11 I fear for YOU, that somehow I have toiled to no purpose respecting YOU.

As apostle paul said, let us not return to these demonic days, and seasons and months, whatever popular celebration you are involved in make sure you are not knowingly or unknowingly giving honour to some demons who are laughing their head off and smirking.

God does not just look for good intentions alone, Ananias and sephira had good intentions, but they lied about their gifts, the early xtian church took pagan rites xtianized it or rather lied about them and then presented them to xtians as something wholesome and obligated to do. These same people once said it was wrong for a lay man like you and I to read the Bible and those who did were killed.

Because we are no longer under the law does not mean there are no guiding principles and precedents to follow in the scriptures. The three Hebrew boys, shadrach, meshach and abednego, might as well have taken the food given them by the king, rationalizing that they were just feeding themselves, but because they knew the source of the food and how pagans handle food by first presenting it to their gods, they rejected it. They did not try to 'cleanse' it by praying and telling themselves that they can't starve to death, in fact they were ready to starve to death. That is what faithful servants of God do, they don't allow anything to taint their worship.

Somebody somewhere in the above posts mentioned 'high-controlled' churches, what does he understand by Jesus statement by 'cramped and narrow is the gate leading to life'. Such a road is not broad where everything is acceptable. i will suggest its better to be on the safer side.

Many of us know how masquerades are carried around in our villages with all their hideous masks, canes and symbols. We totally know it is unchristian.
What if in 50 years time or after we are dead, some xtians or the whole of christendom now are carrying masquerades and whipping themselves like they do now but they renamed the festival or even retained it somewhat like in ishtar/eastar and maybe they are now using it to remember how Jesus suffered while on earth at the hands of opposers and the masks represents the temptations from the Devil or some other lame explanations.
If we were to see them doing it, we that knew that was the name and way our egungun/masquerade festivals were conducted and celebrated would you join them, or do you think Jesus Christ who knew when these things were pagan and how it was later converted be happy to accept it.

Nobody said you should celebrate eastar or the resurrection of Jesus, some people unilaterally decided to (meaning not necessary) but they now derailed totally when they picked up a pagan rite and then start using it to celebrate the Lord.

(2 Corinthians 6:14-16) 14 Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what sharing does light have with darkness? 15 Further, what harmony is there between Christ and Be′li·al? Or what portion does a faithful person have with an unbeliever? 16 And what agreement does God’s temple have with idols? For we are a temple of a living God;. . .

(2 Corinthians 6:17) 17 “‘Therefore get out from among them, and separate yourselves,’ says Jehovah, ‘and quit touching the unclean thing’”; . . .

truthislight: Why not ask Aron and the Israelites that Decided for themself how to worship and celebrate("rejoys" ) ?
*sigh*
Very Good Question. People have been fed a whole lot of trash and they keep defending them shamelessly, Nobody is saying you cant celebrate whatever you want to celebrate, but don't paint it as what it is not. Easter was started by pagans, was christianized by apostate church fathers and celebrated with even with the name and symbols of the pagan goddess and someone is trying to airbrush it.

For the avoidance of doubt, Jesus and his apostles read the scriptures or part of the Bible that was available in his time...that is the whole of the old testament which constitutes 65% of the Bible. Jesus and all his apostles read that, then after his death, some of his apostles wrote more of the scriptures under inspiration, so did they not read the books they wrote themselves? or did peter just read his own books but when he sees the ones written by Paul or John he throws them away.

Jesus and his Apostles read the Bible that is a Fact

Let me tell you a little bit more of the God of easter.

Springtime was sacred to the sex worshipers of Phoenicia. Their fertility goddess, Astarte, or Ishtar (Aphrodite to the Greeks), had as her symbols the egg and the hare. She had an insatiable thirst for blood and immoral sex. Her statues variously depicted her as having rudely exaggerated sex organs or with an egg in her hand and a rabbit at her side. Sacred prostitution was part of her cult. In Canaan, the sex goddess was styled the wife of Baal. She was honored by drunken sex orgies, the worshipers believing that their sexual intercourse helped to bring about the full awakening and mating of Baal with his wife. According to the book Recent Discoveries in Bible Lands, “in no country has so relatively great a number of figurines of the naked goddess of fertility, some distinctly obscene, been found.”

pay attention to the bolded and then go outside and get yourself an easter card and watch out for those eggs and rabbits(i mean the imported ones, not the ones done by a friend in his room). of course am sure you did not miss the similarity of ishtar and easter, then check out the rabbit and eggs then maybe we can now reason on whether it easter is pagan or christian.

Ubenedictus: the question you should have asked her is: DID JESUS THE SON OF GOD RISE FROM THE DEADhuh
If he did, IS IT WORTH CELEBRATINGhuh
That's all.
A good question for you also is, did the Christ ask you to celebrate his resurrection? why don't people stick to the scriptures and stop creating carnivals no scripture asked them to do.
why dont you do some research but you can start with this

“There is no indication of the observance of the Easter festival in the New Testament,” states The Encyclopædia Britannica. How did Easter get started? It is rooted in pagan worship. While this holiday is supposed to commemorate Jesus’ resurrection, the customs associated with the Easter season are not Christian. For instance, concerning the popular “Easter bunny,” (you can see them in most easter cards)The Catholic Encyclopedia says: “The rabbit is a pagan symbol and has always been an emblem of fertility.

'you shall be the first and not the last', 'you shall be greater than the greatest'. These are 'wrong blessings' showered all over the place.

The first sin which led to the devil's downfall was the sin sin of pride, me-first/selfishness, unbridled ambition and presumptuousness.

This was the same lesson that Jesus taught his Apostles repeatedly up to the day he died...but very many pastors are tickling the ears of the people with these messages of greatness and riches.

There is no reason to fear, the teaching of hellfire is from ancient babel and Egyptian netherworld and later fused into Christianity by early church 'fathers' who were enamored to Greek Hellenism especially platonic teachings and ideas on the soul.

Its hard to believe that a God who does not want the death of sinners but for them to repent will now delight in burning them for billions of years, i wonder to what purpose that would serve and the punishment commensurate with the crime/sin.

Delafruita: you have not answered my question.before eusebius, various scholars had studied the antiquities and never mentioned the testimonium flavanium.manuscripts before eusebius didnt contain the testimonium flavanium.for example,No form of the Testimonium Flavianum is cited in the extant works of Justin Martyr, Theophilus Antiochenus, Melito of Sardis, Minucius Felix, Irenaeus, Clement of Alexandria, Julius Africanus, Pseudo-Justin, Tertullian, Hippolytus, Origen, Methodius, or Lactantius. According to Michael Hardwick in Josephus as an Historical Source in Patristic Literature through Eusebius , each of these authors shows familiarity with the works of Josephus.it is widely believed that the testimonium flavanium was inserted by eusebius into the antiquities of josephus to give credibility to jesus
It is not widely believed that the testimonium flavanium was inserted by eusebius into the antiquities of Josephus, what is widely believed or accepted is that while the Testimonium Flavianum is most likely not authentic in its entirety, it originally consisted of an authentic nucleus with a reference to the execution of Jesus by Pilate which was then subject to interpolation.

There are other passages in Josephus apart from the testimonium flavanum which mentions Jesus, while there have been arguments also against their authenticity, these passages are even more widely accepted (than the testimonium) by scholars that these references were actually made by Josephus.

Even the Josephus that we have assumed to be historical, if not for christian scholars he would have been lost to anitiquity, Josephus was a Jew who led part of the Jewish army, and he was also worked for the Romans as an interpreter and was a close friend and confidant of three roman emperors, he was even given state pensions by these emperors, what secular Roman writing or even Jewish writing of antiquity do we have to show his existence....i believe none except his own works which survived through copies made by Christians.

The fact is that most historical persons even the very popular ones can not be proven to have existed if subjected to the same scrutiny as done to the historicity of Jesus.

I can understand why Journalists like spreading falsehoods and half-truths, but i dont understand why people swallow them without at least checking some which are checkable out. There are a lot of internet jargon cures that people keep spreading and the stories just don't die.

When a story or cure is very sensational just spend some time and check it out, there are actually people with HIV and other diseases who are desperate to get cures lets not keep spreading thrash.

This banana story is nothing but just a banana story, the university of michigan and the researchers have actually disowned it a long time ago. This is part of the abstract to the actual research "Based on these results, BanLec (extract from banana) is a potential component for an anti-viral microbicide that could be used to prevent the sexual transmission of HIV-1. "

This is what the researcher said after he heard the banana story "Thank you so very much for calling the very misleading headline in the Evening Standard to my attention. We in no way have stated anywhere that bananas are as good as antiretroviral drugs for the treatment of HIV! Our work, which builds on that of others and is in a very early stage of development, suggests that a particular protein derived from bananas, BanLec, might be useful as part of a topical anti-HIV microbicide that could be applied vaginally (or rectally) to prevent the sexual transmission of HIV. At this point, this is far from proven, however, and years of additional studies will be needed to test whether what we have found might prove useful in the clinical setting. We certainly have no data suggesting that BanLec could be used to treat those individuals who are already infected with the virus, and it would be very dangerous for any patient to stop taking their medications and simply resort to eating bananas! While we appreciate the Freudian aspects of our findings, we would be aghast if they were to be used to deter people from proper, proven treatment of HIV infection"

If the records of the acts of pilate, if all his tax returns, his edicts, the letters he wrote to his superiors then those saying the lack of secular written evidence of Jesus shows he does not exist are the very very biased.

We need to ask what percentage of ancient records are available to us today. There are many books, novels that were written just a hundred years or so ago and all we have are just few copies which are now collectors items. If those books were all lost, does it prove that those books were never written.
Christianity Etc › Re: Did Jesus Really Exist? Proving Jesus Without The Bible by rabzy: 11:28am On Sep 13, 2012
Josephus lived at a time when people who saw Jesus, who knew Jesus were still alive,so it was easy to either verify whether he was fictitious or not. Just a few years after his death, whole families were ready to die for him, you think any fictitious character could pull that off. If the myth of Jesus was created by his apostles, what do they stand to gain, when they have so much to lose and which they lost including their lives.

The followers of Jesus were ostracized and persecuted by both Jews and Romans, you think any lie would withstand such scrutiny and persecution. The early believers saw Jesus and most others knew those who personally knew Jesus, they saw the lives apostles lived and it was not a life based on lies, it was a life that was put to the ultimate test and it survived, not by one person but by hundreds of people who were ready to lay down their lives for it.

It is as crazy as saying Mohammed never lived, his history was written mostly by his followers, but the passion, fire and zeal it created cannot be created by a lie.

you recall that the jews were the first converts of christianity and it was a major cause of trouble to the Jewish leaders, the Sanhedrin, if Jesus was not real, the myth would have been destroyed by the Jews themselves who were voracious writers, they would have written volumes to dissuade the masses from following his disciples.

Josephus made mention of the fact that after the roman armies withdrew from Jerusalem, the christians fled the city into the mountains as instructed by their lord christ. This instruction was given by Jesus to his followers and they heeded it and saved themselves.
Also after Herod Antipas suffered a resounding military defeat, the Jewish historian Josephus, writing in 93 C.E., said: “To some of the Jews the destruction of Herod’s army seemed to be divine vengeance, and certainly a just vengeance, for his treatment of John, surnamed the Baptist. For Herod had put him to death, though he was a good man and had exhorted the Jews to lead righteous lives, to practise justice towards their fellows and piety towards God.”10 Thus Josephus confirms the Bible account that John the Baptizer was a righteous man who preached repentance and who was executed by Herod. Should this also be discounted because he wrote it some 50 years after the death of John but he was writing to an audience who could still check the facts.

A historian writes history and reputable historians heck what they write. The consensus among modern day historians was that Josephus was a reputable historian, he had some facts wrong (it was not a jet age, where everything is easily checkable and there are proper storage of documents and files)

The New Encyclopædia Britannica states: “These independent accounts prove that in ancient times even the opponents of Christianity never doubted the historicity of Jesus, which was disputed for the first time and on inadequate grounds by several authors at the end of the 18th, during the 19th, and at the beginning of the 20th centuries.”—(1976), Macropædia, Vol. 10, p. 145.

Justin Martyr, writing in the middle of the second century wrote in reference to the death of Jesus: “That these things did happen, you can ascertain from the Acts of Pontius Pilate.”14 In addition, according to Justin Martyr, these same records mentioned Jesus’ miracles, regarding which he says: “That He did those things, you can learn from the Acts of Pontius Pilate.”15 True, these “Acts,” or official records, no longer exist. But they evidently did exist in the second century, and Justin Martyr confidently challenged his readers to check them to verify the truth of what he said. Take note that justin Martyr was writing to the emperor and he could not have been spewing forth lies and referring to none existent documents.
He was eventually beheaded for causing subversion and that is how we get the word for martyr till date.

Pilate ruled Judea between 26 ce to 37 ce. Josephus was born 37 CE, so his lifetime definitely overlapped that of Pilate. Pilate was deposed in 36/37 ce he did not die that year. We don't know when he died. So Josephus was alive when pilate was alive. The same might apply to tacitus too.

Most records of ancient people were not written by people who were alive when they lived, so this does not prove anything. The history you mentioned about pilate being cruel was made by Philo who was a jew in alexandria, he was not a roman official. Where are the contemporary roman historians of pilate who wrote about him, and how much did they write about him. Philo was a jew in faraway egypt writing about the plight of Jews in his Homeland, why should he concern himself about a another Jew who claims to be the messiah, there has been several people who have claimed to be messiahs in Judea, in fact it was the surest way to garner followers. so why would philo hundreds of miles away write about a professed messiah whose 'stardom' lasted just 3 and half years.

If he arrives in capernaum months after the event and he heard and refuses to believe or just would not write about it, does that mean Jesus never existed. Did he write about all the crazy religious zealots that judea was never short of, Jesus was an intinerant preacher, who the lowly people of Judea follows, why should an important personnel like Philo concern himself about him. The fact of Jesus was made profound by the way his teachings blossomed after he died, the fact that his followers were ready to die for his ideals.

josephus flavius was definitely not alive during pilate's lifetime.he was captured by the romans in the revolt of 66AD and didnt write testimonium flavonium till around 93AD.tacitus also was not alive during the lifetime of pilate.he was born around 52-53AD and didnt mention pilate till around 112AD.the pilate stone is an evidence that pilate existed but history has long mentioned his name in relation to events.there is an account that he was removed as governor in judea for the treatment he meted to some jews.he was regarded as a brutal being.
as for jesus,no single historian mentioned him during his supposed lifetime.philo of alexandria lived from 20BC to about 50AD,a period which spans the entire lifetime of the bible jesus.but he didnt mention a single word about jesus.take into account that philo was very religious and is recorded to have visited capernaum frequently which is close to nazareth and is the city where jesus supposedly changed water to wine
I never said Syria was an unimportant province, syria was a very important province but Judea was not. It was the different factions of Jewish religious hotbeds who were bent on killing themselves that led to rome's intervention in Judea. One of these factions asked for rome's help in quelling other opposers and also in revolting against the seleucid rulers. Rome was very interested in getting the syrian seleucid dynasty and any revolt against them was welcome. That was what brought rome into Judea and they annexed it to the roman province of syria. Due to its unimportance it was allowed to have its own Kings and ruled directly by Natives unlike other important provinces.
Eventually due to the ineptitude of these kings and the constant religious bickering an revolt in Judea, it was made into a province of its own but because of its unimportance it was not ruled by former senators by by a prefect/proconsul who are of a lower rank than the senatorial legates. Iudaea was not a Senatorial province, nor exactly an Imperial province, but instead was a "satellite of Syria" governed by a prefect who was a knight of the equestrian order (as was Roman Egypt), not a former consul or praetor of senatorial rank. Pontius Pilate was one of these prefects, from 26 to 36 CE

The provinces ruled by the senators were the most important, the less important ones were ruled by prefects/procurators of the equestrian order and they rule with the help of local client kings who know the custom of the people and then maintain peace and order for the sake of collecting taxes for the emperor.

The Roman emperor is always worshipped as a divinity and any people who refuses to acknowledge this is seen to be rebellious, that was one of the reasons why the christians were persecuted all over rome, their refusal to worship the emperor and make offerings to him led to their wholesale slaughtering. So Caligula would have done it to any people who refuse. It was tantamount to open rebellion. Then Judah has been known as a place of rebellion, strife, bickering and guerilla warfare so though it was adding next to zero to the imperial purse but its religious issues and refusal to accept any foreigner as king were always a front burner. It also controlled the land and sea route to the food basket of the roman empire i.e egypt, so any problem along the route would hurt the empire badly. From 70 CE until 135 CE Iudaea's rebelliousness required a governing Roman legate capable of commanding legions.

Remember that even the capital of the province of Judea was not even in Jerusalem it was located in caesarea. Census taking was something common in the Roman empire, it was required for taxation purposes, in any country or state if a census is to be taken, even the most insignificant town is also counted.

Hello Pagan, Nice pics and very informational.

I had a friend from Gombe who i served with and he told me very interesting story about a power struggle between his family i.e his grandad/greatdad and his father and the Emir of Gombe.
Their family was an ancient one and they use to wield the power i think b4 the Fulanis took-over. The grand-dad had to be banished from his own Kingdom and told to reside in the Emir's palace where he was given quarters to stay. He said till date their quarters is still known as the the king of xxxx quarters inside the emir's palace.

It was a story of betrayals, horse rides thru the night, petitions to colonial authorities etc. I cant just remember no more. Do you know about this struggle with the gombe emir.

I just looked up the tribes in Gombe, the guy is most likely from Tula. Can you find out anything about the presence of their Kings quarters in the Emir's palace.

I love chewing sticks, its just that i can't use it in 2 mins before i rush out by 5am...My dad stopped using toothpaste in 70s when he had toothache and using chewing stick solved it.

My Sister recently has joined him because the chewing stick has also aided and eased her pain. Me I have sensitive gums and i bleed when i brush but i now buy tubes of sensodyne and forever aloe paste, i just wish i could just use the stick everyday.
Christianity Etc › Re: Did Jesus Really Exist? Proving Jesus Without The Bible by rabzy: 2:56pm On Aug 22, 2012
All we know about Socrates are from what his discples such as plato and xenophone wrote, aristotle is not a direct disciple and only mentions him in passing frequently, now if you read the accounts of the three of them, you would wonder if they were talking of the same person but Socrates Lives.
All we know about Jesus were numerous accounts by several of his disciples and family members and also a lot of followers who some few years after Jesus Died where ready to die for him and the Roman records showed that many were killed because they would rather die than disobey their master but despite all this Jesus Did not Live.

That is some crazy and unfounded bias.

What historical evidence do we have that Sango, Oranmiyan, Bashorun Gaa, Soun, Nri etc. Most of the histories of African Personalities, our kings and warriors were not recorded anywhere, they were oral traditions passed down through the centuries by families trained to master such histories and pass them down....so while we might not believe all we hear they did, but it is only a troublemaker that start saying all these people did not exist.

But if you want evidence beyond any doubt or reasonable doubt then hardly would you find it in many ancient records, what records do we have of most people's forefathers.

When Africans were taken to the US and Co as slaves, there were many records taken, merchant records of sales and ownerships, most have been lost and that was just about 400 years ago and at a time when writing was no longer for a select elite.
