Christianity Etc › Re: Did Jesus Really Exist? Proving Jesus Without The Bible by rabzy: 2:12pm On Aug 22, 2012
mkmyers45: Can you back this up? Pilate was a roman governor so of course they had to be something about..
As I said the province of Judea was not a very important outpost, it was for second-rate Roman officials, there were better, more populous and commercial nerve centres where important diplomats are posted to.

The Evidence of Pilate's existence at least by those who were alive during his time where by the four gospel writers, Josephus and Philo who are jews, and lastly Tacitus. Tacitus was the only Roman during his time who recorded something about Pilate and even he got the official title wrong.

One of the physical evidence of Pilate's existence is the discovery of a stone which mentioned his name and gave him his proper title.

Even the only Roman Mention of Pilate i.e the one by Tacitus also mentioned Jesus Christ, the Historian said Jesus was put to death by one of their officials Pilate. So if this statement is discarded as fraud by those who don't believe in Jesus as a real person, then that automatically destroys the existence of Pilate by any offical/roman records.

So where are all the thousands of reports pilates sent to rome, the edict of his appointments, the official tax records, all the building projects and activities he engaged in as recorded by Josephus and Philo. Where are the governmental records, probably going into thousands. They are all Gone, Lost to antiquity, the only physical evidence of him is that Stone.

So those who wants official records of a vilified and hated prophet, from an unknown or unimportant area of the Roman empire and written by a roman court official or Historian knows little about ancient records, they still have a lot of digging to do.

Christianity Etc › Re: Did Jesus Really Exist? Proving Jesus Without The Bible by rabzy: 12:18am On Aug 18, 2012
Because you can't find secular historians talking about Jesus is no prove that he does not exist. Jesus lived in a tiny areA of a largely insignficant part of the roman empire.

The jews had no reason to publicise him, they hated him and if he did not exist, the jews would have been the first to raise the alarm when they were trying to cruSh early xtianity.

Pilate was a roman official, the whole record about him is less than that for JeSus. You can hardly find anything about him. In fact for many yrs xtics said he never existed because the only record of Him was in the Bible until they saw a tiny mention of him elsewhere

I was taught to use water and at home i still use water. In most offices, they have tissues, so i use tissue when am in the office, but when i want to have my night bath i make sure i clean the place with good old water. I can't imagine some piece of tissue with stuff in it being stuck deep down there.

After finishing business, I thoroughly clean up with soap and water and before eating anything whether i have been to the toilet or not i wash my hands with soap and water. So if anything is still stuck on the hands after these, then it was probably sent....na only God fit save you from that one.
Politics › Re: Lagos Banned Activities Of NURTW by rabzy: 10:19pm On Aug 04, 2012
Agberos have been in Lagos long before Tinubu became a senator. Alagbara lo njeun ita has always been a creed adopted by these boys. But the west has been notorious for maintaining and probably encouraging it especially with the returns going to different quarters. You can't be in the north, east or even in Edo or Delta and you want to collect money from drivers at all bus-stops, things go shele. But in Lagos, parts of Ogun and Oyo, you cant escape these guys. Definitely there is an enabling environment there.

Politicians of different creeds have been using them to achieve their aim. they are easy to mobilize, they are ready to die for as little as 20. So any unscrupulous politician can always use them. They submit remittances to different quarters including the obas.

So fashola banning them is a welcome development, while some would become full time thieves but most would look for something worthwhile to do. Whatever the case i hope this works.

aribisala0: Well there is an allegation of violence. If that is the case and the law is broken it should take its normal course.I was not there and I believe neither were you.
Anyhow there have been several murderous episodes of violence recently involving moslems and other groups too so do not pretend as if moslems are perennial victims or saints. There are always bad eggs everywhere so do not try to characterise traditionalist as violent that is disingenuous. What do you mean by "crazy" traditionalists ?Are they the ones bombing churches and slaughtering people in their sleep? Clearly you are biassed and cannot debate objectively so please do not quote me.
What do you mean by i was not there? is it today that Egungun beat up people on the road, why is it that people avoid masquerades when they jam for street, do you think they are just scared of the old rags they don, these guys whip and hit people. And the ORO cult is worse, those ones do kill people ask anybody in epe, ikorodu, idimu, any orile in lagos. So don't even mention allegation of violence, i have seen guyz that were beaten by ORO boyz. In broad daylight my friend was punched by an eegun just because he walked past the guy, he nursed a black eye for days.

Anybody bombimg anybody is crazy and so also is anyone who beats up people for no reason, attack/kill women in the night because of one foolish thing they are carrying. Am not a moslem, in fact 70% of those carrying these things bear moslem names or profess to be moslems, there are some professed xtians among them too. The core traditionalists are very few.
I don't care who makes up their composition, if you wont let me walk a public street because of your religion, you are wrong, if you beat up/kill people because you want to cleanse the land you are mad and should be jailed.

deeplo: I read this story and i laugh in Spanish. I was actually in that town Ikenne with my little boy age 1yr 8months from 10am on Saturday till 7pm, there was no fight or quarrel, although it might have happened before the D day, but i can confirm that the oro festival was peaceful. Let me also state that majority of the women and ladies in that town sees the festival as a day of rest. They love it and cherish it. Its just like a national public holiday for most of them. Ask any woman from these following towns and they will tell you they love it....towns like, Odogbolu, Ilisan remo, Ikenne, Irolu, Ogere, Ode remo, Iperu, Ijebu-ijesha, Ipara and Ishara.
Next week is Ilisan remo, Oro festival and sincerely people are really preparing for it. To them it's a party like festival not a occultist festival.
Just pray you and your Son for some reason are caught outside at night when they are about with cutlasses and charms, then you will cry in your mother tongue. If a woman cannot see ORO, what happens to woman who has to get to the hospital that day, a woman who is in labour in the dead of the night or who is in some sort of crisis and had to get help. So should she die because some drunk idiots are about, or should she be sacrificed because she saw ORO.

Let them stay in my front when am rushing my wife to the hospital...then lets see how Ogun will save them from the impact of my car.

aribisala0: The Oro festival has been part of Yoruba tradition from day 1 before Islam or Christianity and other funny foreign doctrines and is usually directed by their Kings and traditional chiefs.
One thing that has happened in Northern Nigerian is their culture has been virtually deleted and they have become "BLANK SLATES" for Arabization in the name of Islam. This will NEVER happen to us. We still revere our deities, ancestors and their wisdom and will not succumb to enslavement in the name of civilization.Does anyone complain when you close government offices and banks in the name of Christmas or Ids and stop others doin their business??
Nobody is saying you should not revere your ancestors or Gods, But when you descend on people and beat them up just because you want to revere your ancestors then you are looking for trouble. When muslims or christian holidays are declared nobody is beaten, children, men and women are allowed to walk freely. But these crazy traditionalists go about with cutlasses and charms. I know of a man who was returning late at night from work and was nearly killed by these guys. Many Women have died in their hands.

Sometimes you just go to work and people will start calling you that you should either stay back or return home early. With Lagos traffic how do you ever get home early.

They do this nonsense where I stay and I have said if my Wife goes missing or hurt during any of these foolish curfews, i am bringing down their oba's palace. lets see how much the house is jazzed up.

emiaby: In the bible, some kids who were mocking Elijah were condemned to be torn apart by lions shocked, this same man killed all the soldiers send to fetch him by the king until he last one was wise enough not to go bragging.

What am trying to say here is that, when it comes to God stuff, pls, watch from a distance. The guy that was trying to help God to save the ark from falling down died instantly, ow do we explain that? This guy was tryin to help! Most of His act can't be explained, Bishop Oyedepo is God's servant appointed for our time and we should be careful before we make our comment here.

God is above the law, so also some people are just above the law. This might be difficult to deal with but so are so many mysteries by God's prophet in the bible.

We all know it seems somehow, but how does it concern you

Plz stop using that little thing u call brain to fathom the things of God, for His way is far different from ours and stop acting like you know all!
Scores of Children ganging up against an anointed of God and making fun of his physical appearance was a serious case of contempt. Elijah's judgement on them was executed by God himself, he did not raise a finger against them. Oyedepo was not physically assaulted nor was he abused, if he feels it was wrong he should have waited for God's Judgement. Oyedepo himself slapped the lady, Elisha did not take it upon himself to act.

The guy that reached out his hand to steady the ark was contravening God's law. First the ark was not suppose to ride on a mule, priests of God are suppose to carry it on their shoulders and they were the only one authorized to carry the ark, and even while carrying the ark, the priests are not suppose to touch the ark or else they would die. We are not sure if Uzzah was even a priest, even if he was the express command is don't touch the ark. The bible said it was an irreverent act because he took it upon himself to touch what he ought not. Even if the woman said what she ought not, there is no basis for Oyedepo slapping her.

(Numbers 4:15) 15 “And Aaron and his sons must finish covering the holy place and all the utensils of the holy place when the camp is departing, and after that the sons of Ko′hath will come in to carry them, but they must not touch the holy place so that they have to die. These things are the load of the sons of Ko′hath in the tent of meeting.

i can authoritatively tell u here and now that what you have is called language problem. go back to school if u can say all this after posting what an informed person say about mikel. pls, when somebody say ur protection is invaluable, it means ur protection is excess. u are doing extremely well. uncle go back to school.
what mikel has done is to excel at the highest level. from 2006 when mikel signed with chelsea till today, nigerians have never found sleep in their efforts to bring this man down. if i may ask, how many lions will a man kill to be called a lion killer? outside nigerian, it is believed that he who pays the piper dictects the tone but here in naija, it is different. if chelsea is not happy with mikel, how come ballack was left to go, deco left, balletti left. ramires came, essien is there, romeo and a host of other players yet, mikel was chosen to play in the fa cup final and ucl final? did di matheo tell u he does not like the way mikel is playing? where is the avb that pleased nigerians by not playing mikel and how did chelsea fair when mikel was on the bench? pls make ur studies and come back here with facts. do not forget that u and ur types celebrated when mikel was confirmed as not going for sa2010 but what happened there? it is a shame that men with two legs like mikel only seat home and write him off.
at club levels, mikel has not just played in the highest level but he did a 120 mins plus in a highly tensed final where chelsea won. do u want mikel to win a world cup with chelsea before u let him be? abeg, discuss football with facts and learn ur english very well because am only talking about what u posted here writen by those who know footie.
mikel is great.
Whats your problem, you better relax before you pop a vein. I quoted a pundits comment and i aired my opinion on it. You choose to see invaluable, i choose to see 'he won't make headlines'... so whats the language problem there.

I have seen him play better than this, i have seen him marshall a midfield and i wish he could like that again, to be like people that played in the midfield and made headlines. What the paper is saying is that he did his Job and that was it, that there is nothing exceptional in his play that would make the headlines. As a person i want him to play and play so well he grabs the headlines. So don't be a mikel crusader on me, it is wasted, use it on those you think hates him. I only wish we could see hi again in the form and style we want saw him. Whe he even has the chance and the play dictates he moves forward with ball, he passes the ball back to the back four who now makes the run. How can you pass to a luiz, terry or bosingwa behind you and this same back picks the ball passes you and make the run right into the opponent's 18 yard box area while mikel always stays put at the back. Everybody takes the game to the opponent except mikel and cech. I believe he is less than who he used to be.

This is what the Thesun Uk, wrote about him in the match.

'NO player has benefited from Roberto Di Matteo’s spell in charge more than Mikel.

The Nigerian holding midfielder will never make the headlines but the protection he provides Chelsea’s back four was again invaluable.'

Honestly i don't think this is good enough for him. We all know he is more than this, he should rise up and take more challenge. He does not measure up to half of makelele, makalele does not score but he grabs headlines and was well respected. Mikel is not even trusted in his holding midfield role by chelsea. He needs a coach that will put him upfront where he can hold the ball, turn and spray those passes we once knew him for.

I will advice that you add some pictures here of when you stock the fingerlins and what they look like after 4 months as you claim . . . . .
Hello Fhemmmy,

i tried contacting you through the yahoomail but i did not get any reply. How are things with you. I have started my farm and i just sold some post fingerlings two days ago, i have just about 5000 pcs left. I was hoping to check out your farm and see how things run there.
i am currently using our backyard, so am thinking of getting a bigger place to raise table size fish. Can you please contact me so that we can talk about it.

As per the guy that created this topic, i have been to his farm some 8 months ago, so he actually has a farm. He explained to me that he feeds them with coppens until they are like post fingerlings size and then he feeds them with his formular which he claims to have arrived at after a couple of trials. I have met him face-to-face, he seems very sincere and he showed me the fishes he has raised for 4 months with the feeds and they were quite big like 1.2kg size, and i gave him the benefit of doubt and i bought the formular. But i have not used the formular because i have not started raising table sizes.

Bu i intend to raise 40 out of my stock to table size using his formular till around july and see what i will get.

Na still reported speech and I am not in the trying business. grin

Stories abound of Calabar, Delta/Edo, TIV, Kabba and some other minority tribes who are said to have such killer abilities. So i wonder if it is true, is it in the genes...I don't believe so. Is it because, Guyz don't often get to date them because they are minorities and so its easier to remember, relate and embelish their encounters with those girls...possibly e.g i met one kabba girl, she was awesome, (the other guy says wow, he does not even know what kabba is and keeps wondering and salivating), compared to 'i met one Ibo girl, she is so good, acrobatic etc (the other guy wonders, why are the ones i dated in computer village not as good, this is guy is lucky o).

Now if these calabar/tiv etc girls are really good, then it means culturally or traditionally, there must be an education program, a process where mothers/aunts etc teach these girls 'how to make a man/husband get an unforgettable experience'. It is this program, i want proof of, that would be a good evidence or pointer to why girls of a whole tribe would be so good.

Moreso, it doesn't take took much to satisfy a man, i would have preferred an education program on how to satisfy a woman, that seems harder to achieve than the reverse.

Aren't you Bini or something like that? undecided

And who is this person with 100% incorrect information? undecided
Please stop, okay? Claim your father's language, not Yoruba.
Even if na "hot shoit", it would have been "ominbo", not "omibo".[/quote]Madam take am easy, this is a discussion and not a war front, am not among tribal war mongers, so just chill. So if i said omibo and you said ominbo, what great catastrophe have i committed. I never claimed yoruba, sogbo. Yeah i know hot water is 'omingbono', but it would have been a mouthful to say 'ominbo' and ominbo could easily have later become 'omibo' 'water peeled him'. Now am not saying this is how 'oyinbo' came to be, am only just examining the 'bee/honey peeled' idea.

Now for something more 'catastrophic', the yorubas or some of them also call the white man's language 'eebo', while 'geesi' is the official, grammatic word for English, but in everyday life, yorubas call English 'eebo' or 'ede oyinbo'. E.g mi o gbeebo, i dont understand english, eebo lo n so yen (na English you dey speak). There is this popular joke about the former military adminstrator in lagos Raji Rasaki, when he was chided about his poor English, he said ' won pe, aa gbe eebo, aa gbe eebo, but aksion si n lo' meaning, 'they said i cant speak english, i cant speak english, but action (i.e work) is going on.

If 'eebo' is used to mean the English language, how does that jell with the honey/bee theory. The Edos also call the language 'eebo', with a slight twist in the pronunciation, also the whiteman and any fair person is called 'eebo'. Now 'ovbi-eebo', the sons/offsprings of white, can easily become oyinbo.

Now the common denominator in all this is the syllable 'bo'. The syllable sounds exactly the same in 'eebo' and 'oyinbo', unlike in the 'oyin-bo (honey/bee peeled contraption). For me the search should commence from how did they come to be called 'eebo'.

Notwithstanding, this is just a discussion, Someone can come up later and show us an ancient, hardly known or otherwise Yoruba/hausa/Igbo word or incidence that would shed more light on the term and that could be the right source or a more plausible term.

For those men to face ridicule, persecution and be ready to lay down their lives and those of their family on a concocted story is just impossible.
