THE sacked Managing Director of Bank PHB, Mr. Francis Atuche, is in for more troubles as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) discovered another N14 billion fraud allegedly perpetrated by him. According to EFCC investigation, the sacked managing director was said to have given two subsidiaries of the bank, the Bank PHB Assets Management Limited and Platinum Capital Limited, loan facilities of N14 billion. The two companies, upon further investigation, said to be owned by the sacked managing director and not the bank, as they made the people and staff to believe. As if that was not enough, about 20 staff of Bank PHB were said to have been seconded to the two companies, while the bank was still paying their salaries. In the course of investigation, the Nigerian Tribune gathered that the EFCC discovered that the two companies were owned by Atuche and not the bank, using the bank’s money to pay the staff working in his private companies. When contacted on the development, the EFCC’s Head, Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Babafemi said “I have an idea of what you are talking about, but not the details yet.” Atuche, one of the five bank chiefs recently sacked by the CBN, was arrested by the commission’s operatives last Friday and has been in custody since. He has applied to the EFCC to grant him bail or charge him to court rather than detaining him perpetually. But the EFCC, which took two of the bank chiefs – Atuche and Spring Bank’s ex-Managing Director, Charles Enehola Ojo – to court was given the leave by the court to detain them in its custody until November 3, 2009. http://www.tribune.com.ng/23102009/news/news3.html |

AS the federation excess crude account dropped from $27 billion to $7billion, the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has predicted doom for the Nigerian economy. Chairman of RMAFC, Mr. Hamman Tukur, who took a critical look at the performance of the economy during the visit of Edo State governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomohole, to the commission in Abuja on Wednesday night, gave it a verdict of doom. He said that in view of the way the nation’s economy was being plundered, it would not be long before the nation ground to a halt. He told the governor that the Excess Crude account, which is the country’s savings, had been drawn down from $27 billion to $7 billion and that government was still withdrawing from it. According to him, the only revenue accruing to the country was the collection from Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), customs duties, and Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT). The chairman queried the relevance of Joint Venture Cash Call (JVC), saying that it was another drainpipe in the economy. “For instance, from August till October, Nigeria has not got one dollar from the total crude sold. Yet, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has paid over N560 trillion to JVC. Rather than find a solution to this, the government reverted to the excess crude account, where it took N12 billion to reflate the economy. Now we are eating into the domestic account. One day, you will wake up and there will be no government.” He sought the support of the governors to help the commission to challenge the anomally. He further noted that the commission had released a formula on how the oil derivatives would be shared, but that it had been abused. “It is an appeal by this commission for you to help us appeal to your colleagues for support,” he pleaded. Tukur also condemned the revenue formula being operated in the states, saying that it was at variance with what the commission designed and recommended. He said that the commission designed a new formula, which increased the percentage of states’ allocation from 24 per cent to 31.6 per cent and this was done amidst petitions and protests from several quarters. He said state governments were supposed to get more allocations than the Federal Government but the reverse was the case. He said in the face of the abuse, the governors were not doing anything about it. “How can you allow an illegal formula to operate in the states?,” he said. Referring to the N18 billion which was released to build health centres across the country, Tukur said that out of that amount, only N6 billion had been used and the rest of the money had been with the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Mallam Ibrahim Dankwambo. “Only N6 billion was used. We even brought the matter before the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) but we did not have their support,” he said. Oshiomhole, in his remarks, promised to take Tukur’s observation to the Governors’ Forum, where it would be discuss them very exhaustively. He said that the nation had no data, otherwise, it would have known the quantity of illegal crude being bunkered on a daily basis. Fielding questions from newsmen at the end of his visit, Oshiomhole said: “I am very appreciative of the courage which the commission has shown, because they have a very important constitutional role. And I happened to have known some of the commissioners. They are my good friends. So, I have come to say hello and also to acknowledge the good work they have been doing. ‘’Even under the former president (Olusegun Obasanjo), this was the only agency in my recollection that publicly expressed its position that was at variance with what the former president wanted. We tried to go to court to enforce the constitution and to ensure that the states get the revenue they were entitled to. And I thought that I should come to appreciate that,” he said. http://www.tribune.com.ng/23102009/news/news1.html |
spikedcylinder:Are U trying to tell me that Nigeria total population is 140Million? I don't believe that,,,,by random statistics,,,quote me,,,Nigeria is btw 180Million to 200Million,,,, |

A clear indication of international disregard and disrespect for the entity called Nigeria,,,Naija home where human beings re so cheap!!! |
The killing of 30 Nigerians at a go by the Chinese authorities for reasons yet to be ascertained will engage the attention of members of the House of Representatives at its plenary today, even as the House is said to be opposed to the planned cremation of the corpses of the deceased. Already, the House said it was resolved to secure the repatriation of Nigerians currently languishing in Libyan prisons, having been sentenced to various jail terms, including life sentence, over immigration issues, just as the deportees accused Nigerian Embassy staff members in Libya of collecting $15,000 compensation from the Libyan government for each dead Nigerian. The parliament said this, when its Committee on Diaspora headed by Honourable Abike Dabiri- Erewa, received in audience some Nigerians already serving life sentence in Libya, but repatriated, based on intervention of some Non- Governmental Organisations (NGOs), including the one in which Lagos lawyer, Femi Falana, was involved. The House slated the debate on the killing of 30 Nigerians in China, following a motion of urgent public importance raised by Honourable Austin Nwachukwu, on the floor of the chamber. According to the lawmaker, who had to seek the leave of the 360- member parliament before moving the motion, in line with the House rules, the affected Nigerians were the largest number that were ever executed at a go anywhere, while calling the attention of the members to the condemnable act. The lawmaker noted that it was surprising that nobody had been able to establish the reason that led to execution of the affected people, saying that the Chinese authorities did not give any reason for the development. http://www.tribune.com.ng/22102009/news/news3.html |
princekevo:True talk from a wise man!! I have always advised people to look at issues like this from both sides of the angle. This story reminds me of the Samaritan woman in the Bible,,,also the woman that was caught in adultery in the Bible,,,,its so easy for some of us to condemn but if we happens to be in thesame shoes with these people,,,,we would even do worst thing,,, The truth is that,,,having had an expository journalism like this,,,,what precisely are the media organisations,,non-governmental and Govenmental organisations doing about this?? Infact there worst things than this happening in Naija!!! |
Another Pastor Divorces Wife; Set To Marry New Convert October 15, 2009 15:27, 1,292 views By Cyriacus Izuekwe Pastor Ignatus Okolie of the Land of Solution Holy Ghost Ministry, Ikotun, Lagos, has divorced his estranged wife, Mary, and he is set to marry a new member of his church. The General Overseer of the church had dragged Mary to Alimosho Customary Court, Igando, Lagos State, asking the court to dissolve their five-year-old marriage. The 27-year-old pastor, whose wife said he was lying about his age, told the court, presided over by Mr. Eko, that he no longer loves Mary. The pastor, whose church is located at Ijegun, told the court that he no longer trusted his wife and that he suspects she is sleeping outside her matrimonial home, though he he had not caught her with another man. He accused Mary of always fighting him and that the relationship had broken down. While denying all the allegations against her, the woman told the court that she delivered five children and four of them died mysteriously. The remaining one is Chidera, a four-year-old girl. The 25-year-old woman said that all her efforts to find out why her children died mysteriously always resulted in quarrels between her an d her husband because he warned her not to ask questions. She added that the problem started when she demanded for money from him to start a business and he refused. She, however, told the court that she was still willing to stay with the pastor if he changes his ways. “Because of his bad behaviour, including beating me constantly, I had to relocate to my brother’s house,” she told the court. Delivering judgment, the court observed that from the evidence available before it, it was obvious that the parties were not compatible as efforts to settle the rift between them had failed. The court dissolved the marriage and referred the issue of custody of the only child to a family court. The petitioner was asked to pay the woman the sum of N50,000 for her rehabilitation http://thepmnews.com/2009/10/15/another-pastor-divorces-wife-set-to-marry-new-convert |
chaircover:Its only liers and pretenders that would tell U they don't have problems or issues that boils down on disagreement in their relationship or marriage,,having issues in marriage does not have anything to do with maturity,,,even pastors re getting divorced nowadays,,,the truth of the matter is that,,,relationship/marriage that would stand the test of time re those that has practically overcome the seemingly challenges that breaks up marriages. Sometimes ago,,,I read of a marriage counsellor who when he counsells couples wishing to get married,,,he would ask them if they have ever quarelled? if the would couples say no,,,,he would ask them to take time until they have quarrelled and resolve their quarrels b4 getting married,,, Actually, disagreement gives U the basis for agreement on anything about life. |
chaircover:God bless U girl or woman,,,,we have always had this problem in African blaming women for every problem in the family whereby the success in the family would want to be attached to the father,,,this is so wrong,,, In addition to Chaircover comments,,,Pastor Chris is pastor and Divorcee,,Festus Keyamu is a well known legal practitioner and a divorcee,,,,,are these Nollywood people,,,,or all the guys and babes in Nigerian Banking Industry shagging themselves even as married people,,,,are they Nollywood,,,,or all the divorce cases in Alimosho/Ikptun/Igando LGA,,,re the people involved Nollywooders ![]() This topic should just be closed please,, |
sara j:Don't mind the poster,,,,U can even see with this refernce some white countries made it and only one country in africa made it to the top 10,,,,in most cases Nigerians lives in deception, lies and in self denial,,,, I can't even count the number of people I know in naija that their marriage is right now messed up |
Kobojunkie: Chiddysville:Thanks pals,,,,it just amazes me when I see people even Nigerian so called political leaders give excuses for Naija continued failing and deteriorating status. Some times U hear them saying home grown democracy,,,what nonesense is that!!,,,even Americans and the western are not the original owners of democracy,,,the world felt its the best form of Government,,, On a personal note,,I love Nigerians,,,individual we have very wonderful people,,,however docility and complacency is creeping in and eroding the very fabric of our values that defines us,,,,For this and many other reasons I personally refuse to be blindly patriotic and call things just the way they are,,,the way things re going right now in the country,,I deeply fear what is gonna be the end!!! |
@Poster,, I hope something is not wrong with U,,,,I mean to say that,,,hope everything is alright with U,,,,,I just replied ur previuos post and this post now contradicts what U said in the previuos one,,,,U may have 2 go do some check up man!!<<no intention 2 beef,, |
@OP,,, The best way to solving a problem is admitting and identifying that you have a problem and not living in denial!,,, Mark my words,,,Nigeria does not have any reason or excuse why she is where she is now,,,, Your analysis is simply giving Nigeria excuses for her failures,,,and the excuses U gave are baseless and without any reasonable substance.Bottomline is this: 1.If it took Americans over 200yrs b4 they start using the i nternet or having access 2 the internet,,,should it take Naija 200yrs? or Naija should have waited 200yrs to start using the internet. 2. It probably took Americans over 100yrs b4 using telephones,,,why did'nt Nigeria wait for another 100yrs b4 we start using telephones,,,,mind U,,,Ivory Coast and Republic of Benin have been using mobile phones for 10yrs in west Africa b4 Naija started in 2001. 3.If it took Ghana over 30yrs b4 they start having uninterrupted power supply,,,why is naija at about 50yrs has no hope of having stable power supply? I can go on and on but finally, I want you 2 know that the difference btw developed countries and underdeveloped ones simply lies in the way and manner they think. Its not about their age or how long they have been existing.A good example are as follows: A. Liberia is over 100yrs,,,practically older than South Africa, China, Dubai, Ghana,,,,but can U compare these countries with Liberia? B. Ethopia and Egypt re older than Canada, South Korea,Israel and Japan,,,,but can U compare these countries with Ethoipia and Egypt? The major problem with Africa and Africans simply lies in way they THINK,,,Until our THINKING process is ratified and transformed to see and vitualised where the world is going,,,we would continue to lag behind,,,Nigeria in particularly is the most unseriuos African country and probably the most unserious nation in the world,,, Much more than that,,Naija is filled up with people who deserve the kind of LEADERS they have!!! |
citizenY:LWKMD,,,,ol boy U wan kill me oooo,,,,,,my belle dey pain me now,,,,,,,,,LMAO,,,,,,,, ![]() |
chidichris:U re just a lousy person,,,ur postulation about Abiola exhibits the depth of ur bitterness and personal beef towards MKO,,,The june 12 election that was adjudged both nationally and internationally as the freest election ever held in Nigeria is what U re trying rubbish,,be truthful 2 ur self and tell me if U re without any sin,,, ur submission can strongly contested even by a primary one student,,,if U have problem with MKO,,,what about other leaders that I mentioned and the ones I did not mention? or what is stopping you from filling up the position of LEADERSHIP which Nigeria needs so urgently? U re talking animals sleeping with daughters inlaws,,,what has that got 2 do wit my post? I can clearly see where U heading from,,,,,I have always told people like U that ,,,,,,," U re not the only VICTIM of Biafra war",,,U guys needs 2 be objective and wake to the realities of our times and tides,,,, |
infoweb: |
bidemi12:Greetings to you in the Jesus name,,,am glad to note ur commitment to Christ and His saving grace,,,,however,,like U have noted in some of ur posted,,,As a christian,,,I am particularly disappointed in almost all the pastors in Nigeria,,,including the ones U probably referred to as organised ones. The organised ones re the ones where evil, religion, and serving/worshipping of men as against God has been enshrined. U can call tudor, banom etc Atheist,,,,but the truth is that the church and christians in Nigeria re the ones giving people the reason to question some of the things we(christians) do.Take for instance,,,till this moment as speak,,,there has been conflicting sides of stories relating to RCCG buying a jet,,,the elders and GO of the church has not deemed it fit to clear or make a clear statement to that effect,,,,but when issues of a text message coming out from RCCG,,,the pastors were quick to deny that publicly,,,, The best thing as a Christian is to live and operate like the Barean Christians,,,,hold onto God's unchanging hands and also use the wisdom in the concept of the humility of a dove and wisdom(wise) of a serpent,,,I do not believe in seed sowing and prosperity message been preached everywhere,,,am very sure these men didn't hear from God,,,I love life and also love good things of life,,,but I also believe U have to work very hard to achieve success in life,,, The millionaires in China,India etc didn't follow these lies been peddled around in some churches,,,Bill Gates I supposed right now is an Atheist,,,he was the richest man in the world at a time,,he was worth over $60Billion,,,but his worth depleted to about $30Billion because he was giving to the less priviledged people in Africa and which Nigeria is among,,,Bill gates is not has never been a lazy man,,,if U ask him the way to success he would tell U work hard man!!! On the materialism in Nigerian churhes,,,do U know the richest man in the world who one of his companies happens to manufacture private jets does not own a private jet to himself? Do U know this same man has been living in the same house he bought over 35yrs ago,,,Do U know he has just one car and that he does'nt have a driver to himself(he drives himself around)?,,,,his name is warren buffet!!,,,if U ask him about success and wealth,,,,his ideas is in contrast to what these people in nigeria thinks,,, Even if people criticise pastors in nigeria,,,they re stating obvious and that does'nt change the fact that "Jesus is Lord",,,,,According to the Bible,,,we live in the age where even the "Elects" can be deceieved,,,,and if the Bibles stated clearly that in the last days there would be lying spirits going about in the name of God,,,why does anyone wants to think otherwise? |
jimmysho:My greatest and deepest FEARS Lies in the majority of Nigerian docile masses,,,,Don't U ever compare the USA with Nigeria,,,without the support and understand of the majority of Americans,,,the dreams of Revd. Martin Luther King Jnr would never have come to fruition,,,,Are U telling me Nigeria has never been able to produce her own Martin Luther? Did Nigerians support her Martin Luther when they made efforts to lead Nigeria? The answer is simply No,,,Gani Fawehinmi died in the struggle,,,Abiola died in the struggle,,,Chris Okotie, Pat Utomi,,,Awolowo in his days and after was termed a President Nigeria never had,,,,and many more As far as I know Nigerians don't have any dream what soever,,,,and its actually not worth dying for,,,,The dream and death of Martin Luther is a function of what defines America today,,,,Please tell me what the death of those who laid their lives for Nigeria has been able to achieve for Nigeria,,,Nothing!!!! |
Since the inception of Nigeria,,,both political and spiritual leaders have always been taking advantage over Nigerians by make us to believe God is the one responsible for present situation thereby we have to pray and appeal 2 him to fix Nigeria,,,, Bottomline is,,,,God would never come down from heaven to come play the roles he assigned us to play,,,,,Moreso,,any religion that tells U God is solely rersponsible for ur actions and inactions is a an irresponsible religion,,,,,, If God is going to listen to all the countries asking God via prayers,,,,better coun tries out their re praying to God for favor,,,, |
The Vice President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, on Wednesday night, led other Nigerians in a vigil of prayers for peace and prosperity to usher in Nigeria’s 49th independence anniversary. At the function, he assured that the present administration was determined to do its best to solve the nation’s problems. He also expressed confidence that the President Umaru Yar’Adua administration would not let Nigerians down. The occasion was the pre-jubilee prayers tagged ‘National repentance for restoration,’ organised by Nigeria Jubilee 2010 Group, under the chairmanship of former head of state, General Yakubu Gowon. After leading the congregation in prayers for unity, peace and rapid development of the country, Jonathan said it was a good thing the event coincided with Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting where, he said, “we deliberated seriously on how to move this country forward.” http://www.tribune.com.ng/02102009/news/news8.html |
Eaglebabe:Bank PHB,,,,Francis Atuche,,,,,PHB would eventually be an islamic Bank!!! |
fegflu:The reason why everybody seems 2 be abusing is because ur reasoning capability is screwed and twisted,,,For instance,,,,If it took ur father or ur parents 40yrs b4 they could by a car does that implies it should take U 40yrs to own a car? Also do U know Ethiopia,Liberia and egypy re far far older than Canada, South Korea, Dubai, South Africa etc,,,,,but can U make their comparisons ![]() The difference or the clear-cut comparison is simply their level of reasonings,,,simple and short,,,,,,Nigeria does not have any reason to be where it is 2day,,,the country Nigeria is fundamentally messed up,fundamentally disenfranchised and dysfunctional,,,, Nigeria is not or was not designed by the WHITES to work,,,,they did this amalgation of completely strange bed fellow,,,,,,,,,,,, |
KunleOshob:U actually beat me to this,,,,Its Francis Atuche of PHB,,,,In addition,,,PHB is the Bank to be islamised,,,cos it was Habib Bank was the only bank with islamic styles prior consolidation,,,, |
White people are the Award-winning creatures for the most divorce rate in the history of marriage, sometimes they divorce because their husband/wife is accused of what he or she didn't do, they don't even wait for the investigation to finish, they are already in court for a divorce. Before you know it they are in court for a child custody battle, they marry witghout knowing each other that's why they divorce for avery stupid reasons, A woman would meet a man on Wednesday and marry him on Friday, A woman won't even know her so called husband is a killer, she marries him only to find out that the man is a killer, then she goes for divorce, how about getting to know him first before marriage, no they won't wait to know him, they'll just dive into church to get married, outrageous, outrageous, outrageous.
U re a lier,,,that is not true,,,do ur investigation very well,,,there re unprecedented increase in divorce in Nigeria,,,,U can go to any of the magistrate and customary court in Alimosho/Igando and Ikotun Egbe,,,,these areas in Lagos have the highest divorce rate in Nigeria,,,and with very high immoral happenings,,,,,,,,,U lied again,,,where in the world did U find a white person that met within 3days and they are married ![]() |
AjaraEwuro:The excuses U gave above about foreigners stowing away Nigerias money is the very reason why Nigeria is a Jungle,,,,There is no country in the world where 100% of ur investment can be repatriated from except Nigeria,,, The fact that Nigerians can make money from Nigeria is not a fault of theirs,,,,Nigerian banks would prefer to give loans out to chinese, lebanese and indians without collateral,,,,at least one the 5banks gave an indian man over #7Billion naira without collateral,,, Much more than the above,,,in less than 3 weeks ago,,,,Wole Soyinka made a public statement that " Nigeria is a jungle" Also U need to know when people criticise Nigeria,,,its because they don't like naija,,,,its simply because people want certain level of change and hope in the country,,,,Its only a stupidly blindfolded man that would pretend that Nigeria is not a Jungle,,, No doubt, Nigeria has the potentials years back,,,,but I tell you the truth,,with the level of impunity in sphere of Nigeria,,,I wait to see what it actually gonna offer in the future,,, |
