In-Laws Beat Drummer To Death June 23, 2009 14:50 (1 minute ago), 1 views By Oluwole Adeboye A 29-year old drummer with a popular Muslim singer, Al-Sadeeq, has been beaten to death by his in-laws. The deceased’s name was given as Olabode Biola, a.k.a Erujabo, because of the dexterity with which he handled the talking drum. P.M.News investigations revealed that Erujabo had a quarrel with his wife, Bose, which led to their separation and she wrnt to her parents’ house at Ayige, Agege, to stay. On the day of the tragic incident, the drummer was alleged to have gone to Ayige, Agege, to see his two children. It was gathered that his wife and her brother allegedly became hostile towards him and asked him to leave. This led to a disagreement and his in-laws allegedly beat him silly. He became unconscious and was rushed to a hospital at 47, Old Oko-Oba Road, Agege, where the doctor who examined him referred him to a specialist. “When they were taking him to Aiyetoro, Ogun State, he died on the way,” said one of his relatives. When P.M.News visited Aiyetoro, Ogun State, to see the aged mother of the deceased, who is down with stroke, she was unable to utter a word. We learnt that the deceased was the first child of his mother. The police at State CID, Panti Yaba, have arrested one of the suspects http://thepmnews.com/2009/06/23/in-laws-beat-drummer-to-death |

Man Stabs Neighbour To Please Girlfriend June 22, 2009 16:11, 202 views By Cyriacus Izuekwe In order to please his girlfriend, a 29-year-old man, Christopher Chidebe, has allegedly stabbed his neighbour, Emmanuel Udeh, with a kitchen knife. His action led to his arrest and he was charged before the Isolo Magistrate’s Court, Isolo, for assault. He was remanded at the Kirikiri Maximum Security Prisons, Apapa, because he could not meet the conditions for the bail granted him. Christopher was alleged to have stabbed Emmanuel for attempting to woo his girlfriend, identified as Stella. P.M.NEWS gathered that Emmanuel attempted to woo the girl but she refused. This led to an exchange of words between them at their 2, Apostolic Church Street, Isolo, residence. The girl was said to have reported the matter to the accused when he came back. The accused, it was learnt, challenged the victim for daring to woo his girlfriend in his absence. In the fighting that ensued, the accused allegedly used a knife to stab the complainant in the back. The victim bled profusely and was rushed to the Isolo General Hospital. The matter was reported at the Okota police station and the accused was arrested and charged with assault. The offence is contrary to Section 355 of the Criminal Code, Cap.38, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2004. He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety. The court ordered that he should be remanded in prison custody because he could not meet the bail conditions. The matter has been adjourned till 8 September, 2009, for hearing. http://thepmnews.com/2009/06/22/man-stabs-neighbour-to-please-girlfriend |

You’ll Not Know Peace’—Pastor Bakare Curses Those Who Jailed 27 Soldiers June 22, 2009 16:29, 731 views Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Latter Rain Assembly has risen in defence of the 27 soldiers of the Nigeria Army jailed for life in April. He described as injustice the fate that befell the soldiers who were jailed for life for mutiny by a court martial presided over by Brigadier General Baka. He slammed president Umaru Yar’Adua and army chiefs for the fate of the soldiers. pastor-tunde-bakare Preaching on the topic: The Nigerian Nation, Quo Vadis (What Next?) yesterday, Pastor Bakare warned that all those who perpetrated the injustice against the soldiers, be he the president (Yar’Adua), the army chiefs, etc. will not know peace until they reverse the judgement. He said this was the only way they could avoid God’s wrath. He said the soldiers were protesting legitimately against being cheated by their superior who seized their peace-keeping allowance and wondered why they should be accused of mutiny and punished unjustly. He said he was speaking for the voiceless, adding that a nation that abhors justice is doomed. Pastor Bakare reiterated that those who jailed the soldiers will not know peace until the victims were released and the judgement brought against them was quashed. The counsel to the soldiers, Mr. Femi Falana, had petitioned the Chief of Army Staff, insisting that the soldiers were jailed in error. Falana argued that the accused persons were charged with the offence of mutiny, contrary to section 52(2) of the Armed Forces Act (Cap A20) LFN 2004. He alleged bias against the president of the Court Martial, Brigadier-General Baka. According to Falana; “Before the arraignment of the accused soldiers, they objected to the constitution of the Court Martial based on the statement made by Gen. Baka in Sokoto, on 17 September, 2008, to the effect that he would deal with the accused for their act of indiscipline. The defence requested him to withdraw from the court martial pursuant to section103 of the Armed Forces Act. •Some of the 27 soldiers jailed for life for mutiny by a military tribunal in April this year. PHOTO: Courtesy, The Punch. “Instead of withdrawing to allow other members of the court to consider the objection, the president of the court took part in the consideration of the objection, contrary to section 137 of the Armed Forces Act. Not unexpectedly, the objection was dismissed by the court martial without any legal justification whatsoever.” Falana also said the prosecution failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt, and that the entire case was based on suspicion which cannot be ground for conviction under the nation’s laws. http://thepmnews.com/2009/06/22/youll-not-know-peace-pastor-bakare-curses-those-who-jailed-27-soldiers |
tpiah:Hi can you help us with the paper incase it has a link or better still start a thread or paste so we too can read as well,,,Ghana deporting Nigerians,,,,wowowo,,,we did that to them in the 1980's and about 30years later,,they re doing it back 2 us,,, |
That is the problem so people have,,because you want to marry a lady in quote that you thought would be submissive to you,,,the best thing then is for you to marry an illiterate,,,,thats crazy in itself,,, What business has light with darkness? or may be what business has illiteracy got with being literate,,,,,they both can't operate together,,,Now an illiterate wife killed a soon to be Phd holder,,,,arrant nonesense |
theolar:You know what??ur ability to come here and lay it bare is nothing but being proactive,,,not many ladies would do what you just did,,however,,,I still do hope and believe you re serious about this,,being proactive doesn,t mean you have to go all out and ask the guy out,,the thing is that one thing must and should lead to another,,, It could be by saying hello and being nice,,it could be by just being you,,,however,,,ur personality should always speak for you,,,ok,,,may be I can try calling you on the phone,,,,now one last question,,what tribe re you in Nigeria? yoruba,,Ibo or Hausa?? |
ifyalways: |
theolar:Incase you re looking for one in a church,,pls don't marry a lazy and no ambition man ooo,,,Love and Marriage is completely different from church,,,,In love and marriage,,,U have to lay it bare,,,however,,,If you re real,,,you sound like someone who knowa what she wants,,,take ur time,,don't limit ur chances,,,be proactive and decisive in ur choices,,, |
theolar:Sure that is what I mean,,,but I think ur answer is Ok,,,Atleast you re sticking to your convictions,,,however,,I have seen many online dating working out,,,it gives you the opportunity to explore ur potentials and not to limit urself to the guys or ladies within ur environment,,,it gives you a wider scope of what you re looking for,,,Have you heard of e-harmony? its a christian single site where over 230 Mariages are established everyday,,,its for real,,I have friends in Ghana,Nigeria and canada that has taken this advantage,,, Unfortunately,,Nigeria has been banned, restricted and deleted from this site,,,Its easy for you to know if the other person is real or not,,,if its not what U re looking for,,U can simply back out and if its what U re looking for,,then life goes on from there,,, Nevertheless,,,where in Lagos do you reside?? |
But you never responded to one of my questions though,,,pls respond,,,its important |
theolar:well am not in Nigeria,,,there you see the problem,,,,but hope to be in naija early next year |
Its just not possible for sincere Love that would lead marriage,,,how can two people claiming to loing each other and do not know that love means spending and creating liability,,,, The word love is beyond pronounciation,,,its practical and that is why people keep having problems in relationships,,,,No love can survive without money and tha is why the Bible says money answers all things,,,if a girls tells you she loves you and you don't have money,,,she is only trying to be patient to see if you would have the money,,,and if you don't ,,,she would run away,,,and you know what? I can't blame the girl why,,,its better to love with ur head so you don't regret in the future,,,, |
theolar:you sound like me here,,,people would think its being proud but,,you know what?? Relationship that would stand the test of time must be well defined and captures the desires and aspirations of the parties involved,,,Its so amazing how people go into relatiuonship without dreams, aspirations and clear-cut description of what they want,,, I do know we cannot have it all in a single man or woman,,but then,,basic necessities must be met,,,for someone,,I can't be married does have a clear purpose for her life and the children we wanna bring into this world,,, |
are you a christian and educated?further more,,do you think online dating can work for you??do you think you can meet someone in an unconventional manner who is serious and ready?? |
theolar:Thats pretty nice,,,this sound sincere but how do I know if you would take anyone serious since you do not believe in internet dating,,,,are you in Naija or elsewhere?? |
theolar:How old re you pls?? what re your own features,,,U only quoted the features of the man you re looking for and not yours,,,If I may ask,,,re you financially, emotionally and Job wise ready??If you meet these requirements and ready to talk,,,then what you re looking for is not far fetched any longer,,, |
Fhemmmy:Don't make the mistake of listening to the above,,marriage is not about being man enough,,,Do everything within ur ability to convince ur family or parents,,,it doesn't matter if it takes you time,,,but just do it,,,,Have this also in ur mind that "No man or any woman is particularly meant for any man or woman" Moreover,,ur story sounds fabricated!! You said U re 29,,,what do you do for a living? How could you have taken 5 different women and they turn you down? How long did you date each of these girls b4 taking them down 2 ur parents? You don,t just pick anybody on the street and say you wanna marry,,,Lets assume its being in d last 5 years you started taking these ladies 2 ur parents,,,could it be you were 24years when U started this process? At 24yrs,,,what have you done with ur life?what would have defined you as being able to handle a relationship talkless of marriage,,,You know what,,even if this ur story is true,,,you sound like somebody who truly needed to listen to his parents,,,you know because you made thesame mistake 5times,,,,after making a 2nd mistake,,,you should be able to know what ur parents or family wants,,, Most people in a relationship or who re married don't even have an idea what they re into,,,, |
You guys don't worry,,some people are already praying that by 2020,,with enough fasting and prayers,,Nigeria would be in the top 5 Economy in the world,,,,just elts all join hands to fast and pray,,,then you would see the Miracle working God making this come to reality,,,,, That is so funny cos that is the thinking of some Nigerians,,,, |
The vision of the Federal Government to make the economy of the country one of the largest economies by 2020 may be at a crossroads, as recent reports by the United Nation’s Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) have indicated that the vision may not be realisable. According to the reports, the growth of the Nigerian economy was hovering between seven per cent and eight per cent, posing a great danger if there was no significant increase beyond these figures. The economy, according to the Federal Government, is projected to grow in at least 13 per cent progressively towards 2020 to attain the vision. Also, a financial expert and Managing Director, Financial Derivates Company Limited, Bismark Rewane, said generally, the global growth rate was forecast to shrink to 0.9 per cent below population rate growth rate this year. He added that the problem of the nation’s economy was due to structural imbalances, myopic planning, policy contractions, conflict of interests institutional weaknesses and poor execution of economic plans when they existed. The Federal Government, however, believed that the seven-point agenda was the springboard through which the vision would be realised and the economy would be put on sound footing. But the new governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Lamido Sanusi, while being screened by the Senate recently, said the seven-point agenda should be reduced to two or three, saying the agenda was too broad to be realised within the given time-frame. The revelation has, however, brought several reactions from analysts and experts alike, most of who praised the governor for the courage to make such declaration. Sanusi said the seven- point agenda could be easily achieved if it was compressed to two or three. “In the seven-point agenda of government, critical infrastructure is the first item. My view is that until we address the infrastructural problem in this country, we will not even begin to solve our problems,” Sanusi said. http://www.tribune.com.ng/22062009/news/news5.html |
