robosky02: it should be noted that Bonny Island was one of the foremost city states that played a key role in the advent of the Brithish into Nigeria. in fact most of the slave enroute Europe passed through bonny and that was were the Bristhish too ships in their goods into Nigeria
picture: Bonny Chiefs with Naval Commandant 1896 We know the history, sir. The flag is a sign of political authority. No one flies or uses the flag of a country it is not subject to. So why is the British flag still there 56 years after Nigeria became independent from Great Britain? Are the British still ruling you there in Bonny? |

Rossikki: Mr Scientist, show us your PROOF. If the earth is a spinning globe, PROVE IT. No need for too much grammar. Do you see me speaking grammar here? Al I do is post evidence of a flat earth. Do the same for your side or face the door. I didn't even use a word everyone doesn't understand, and you're saying i'm speaking grammar? Will you then understand the 'grammar' of scientific papers if I choose to play this game with you and present the ample evidence available? Go read an astrophysics textbook and quite trolling. BTW, I noticed you side-stepped my question. Are you a scientist? What did you major in in school? |

Rossikki: Just because you were given answers to those questions as a child doesn't mean the answers are true, or proven. I will probably have to leave you and Fash to this. My patience is very short. Scientific answers weren't spoonfed to me. Proof and evidence were presented. I am a scientist myself. Are you a scientist? For instance billions of people believe a man named Jesus, the son of God, walked this earth 2000+ years ago. You yourself probably believe it. But there is not a single shred of evidence that this person actually existed. No, i do not believe Jesus the Son of God born of a virgin, ascended into heaven, was a real person. It is possible [even probable] that a historical figure around whom those legends of extraordinary deeds developed walked the earth, however. |

Rossikki: Within? You mean the air ATOP the earth, not ''within''. There is no reason the air ATOP the earth should be moving, IF the earth is moving, which it isn't. If the earth was moving as fast as scientists claim, we would feel it moving. Earth is not like an airplane where you have covered protection, soundproof technology etc etc, to shield you from the motion. Gravity? If the force of gravity was so powerful that it pulled the heaviest matter and air down to earth, then how come birds can just flap their wings a little and up they go? Every sentence here shows just how much of a student of natural laws you are not. These are questions children ask before they start studying science. I know because I asked them once upon a time. |

Rossikki: Those are scams. Composite images. They are not actual photograhs. NASA even explains it on the site:
''This color image of Earth was taken by NASA’s Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC), a four megapixel CCD camera and telescope. The image was generated by combining three separate images to create a photographic-quality image. The camera takes a series of 10 images using different narrowband filters -- from ultraviolet to near infrared -- to produce a variety of science products. The red, green and blue channel images are used in these color images.''

When you take a selfie or snap someone, do you ''generate the images'' or do you simply take a pic?
NASA itself has admitted that it produces these spherical images ''based on peoples' expectations'', not based on reality.

Rossikki: One common poser is that if the earth is a spinning globe, a helicopter should be able to hover in the sky, and wait for its destination to come to it. That never happens. My God! WTF! If i laugh any harder I'll pee on myself. Who 'poses' this 'poser'? Certainly not a physicist. If the earth was moving, why would anyone think that the air which is within the earth won't be moving with it? Are there people who understand the laws of physics within the Flat Earth movement? I am really curious about that. Still LMAOing at the 'poser'. WTF |

No one will even deny Esan and Bini influence in Anioma. If you had bothered to read the write-up you would have seen where the writer mentioned an important Asaba chief in the 19th century whose father was from Esan. Mixing Esan with Ika in Ekpon doesn't mean Ika influence is no longer there, does it? It is like saying speaking pidgin doesn't mean English influence because I threw in a few local words too. |

gerg: Ok. that's nice to know. I am not the mouth piece of the Ika neither is the author of this great piece. He really did a great job. I must commend him. But something is not right. He's writing as if there's no dispute in the Igboness of Ika and Anioma people. he didn't even mention that at all. I have also read pieces written by Ika people who reject the Igbo tag. They do not mention at all that there are some among their number who accept this tag. It was not until I started relating with Ika people personally that I knew that not all of them reject the Igbo tag. What I saw online painted a picture of unanimous rejection of Igboness. Why then would you expect a pro-Igbo Ika writer to acknowledge the anti-Igbo side of the debate when you don't expect anti-Igbo Ika writers to acknowledge the pro-Igbo side of the debate too. That is a tad bit hypocritical, won't you say? |

tunene66: I have downloaded the book it makes for interesting reading. How Yoruba language became a written language is interesting. One word I found interesting is the origin of the word Ooni from Owoni itself a contraction of Omo oluwoni (son of a sacrificial victim) hope to hear what the Ifes will say in response That is the Oyo-centric version of the story. You will have to bear in mind the long-going tussle between Oyo and Ife for primacy in Yorubaland while reading that passage. I am inclined to think that the derivation of Ooni from Omo oluwoni is a piece of Oyo propaganda, with the intent of 'showing' that the Ooni is the inferior of the Alaafin. |

^ Akanwu is not an Igbo word. It is a bastardization of the Kanuri word, kanwa.
There are a few other words in that list that are not of Igbo origin, but there's no point getting into it as they have been amply discussed on other threads. |

I know you were going to jump on that. You're so predictable. Earth is Ale in some Yoruba dialects. Oya, jump on that one, too. Everyone already knows the languages are related. I don't why some of you keep acting like you have discovered some hidden secret whenever you see words that look/sound alike in the two languages. |

blues2022: Conduct an unbiased research.... we could also learn from you The age-old tradition is that the Igbo in Ife traditions are the same with the Ugbo of Ondo State. That is exactly why the present King of Ugbo is claiming primacy over the Ooni of Ife. If you know Yoruba dialects well, you will know that initial 'i' becomes 'u' in most of the Ondo dialects. Thus ile which means house will now become ule, and ikun which means stomach will now become ukun. Also ina which means fire becomes una. That is how Igbo became Ugbo in Ondo State. The Ugbo are the Igbo. Ugbo people have known for the longest time that they were the ones driven away from the Ife area. All of a sudden the Igbo ethnic group have started claiming it was them. And for some reason, the present Ooni (perhaps in a bid to magnify Ife influence) has lent his voice to this ridiculous claim. You Igbos should feel insulted by all this. But perhaps, because you don't seem to have any grand history of your own, you all have decide to accept the role of people driven away from Ife by the descendants of Oduduwa. Anything to have a history. That is pathetic, folks. Go and search out your own history, instead of seeking to fix yourselves in another people's history. |

Apart from this, I think we are on the same page on the primitiveness of the Igbo people and lack of any history to be proud of. That was my point to the guy that I replied to. If you take time to follow the conversation, you will understand why I posted this Primitive and history-less because they did not fight senseless wars of conquest and did not try to extort money from weaker peoples in that brutal arrangement called 'states' and 'empires'?
