President-Elect Muhammadu Buhari did not mention the 'ECONOMY' in this speech. If he does not mention the ECONOMY in the formal speech he has promised to give, I won't bother listening to him on May 29, 2015. Cheers. |
Uneasy lies the head that wears the Crown. Buhari should carefully assess all the men and women that would be presented to him by those who helped him into Power. If he fails in picking the right people as his Ministers, then he won't change anything in Nigeria. He is a democrat now and would have to intelligently lead Nigeria. By the end of 2015, we should start seeing where the Nigerian economy is heading to. If our new President fails to mention the ECONOMY in his speech, then I won't bother listening to him on May 29, 2015. Cheers. |
There is no need for any witch-hunting or renewed fight for resources. What the whole of Nigeria needs now is real development. President Buhari has to start fulfilling the promises of the APC by the end of 2015. There is simply no time to waste. The battle has been fought and GMB/APC are the winners. The losers PDP/GEJ have accepted their loss in good faith. So let the real development of Nigeria begin quickly. Thank You. |
There is no need for witch-hunting in the new dispensation which will commence in a matter of weeks . Fayose is the Governor of a Nigerian State and should be allowed to lead his People. There is no Governor in Nigeria who is a Saint. They all have skeletons in their cupboards. We don't need the settling of political scores to take precedence over real development in Nigeria. It is time for Nigeria to really develop. Our Politicians should stop dancing around economic issues and get to work THANKS. |
8 years is not a long time, Nigerians. President Buhari and his Cabinet should start fulfilling their promises by the end of this year. And Nigerians living abroad should not start returning home because it is not yet UHURU. Nigerians living abroad should not think things will automatically change in Nigeria. Let President Buhari and his team get to work and show what they can do in the first four years, before any Nigerian living outside the country starts to think of returning home. We are all expecting a lot from the Buhari Administration which will commence very soon. Cheers. |
As long as President Muhammadu Buhari is not selective in his prosecution of corrupt politicians, I will keep quiet. As long as men like IBB, Atiku Abubakar and the Abacha family are not prosecuted for being corrupt and stealing public money, while ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, Governor Ayo Fayose etc are being hounded for being corrupt, then I will start talking. NO SELECTIVE JAILING OF CORRUPT POLITICIANS . Cheers. |
On Rail Transportation and Airport Facilities in Nigeria My People, let's be honest. All the Governments before President Goodluck Jonathan totally failed to revive the Railways and put in modern facilities in Airports all over Nigeria. For the first time in many years, Nigerians are seeing trains passing behind their homes. The trains operating under GEJ's administration might not be world class trains, but they are also not bad trains. They are moving and the interior of these trains can compete favourably with some countries in Eastern Europe. At least, something has been done about the Railways. Let us look at the Airports, are we not seeing some good things happening to our Airports? I have never felt safer at the MMIA in Lagos. The facilities has been upgraded at our Airports. Under the trio of IBB, ABACHA and Abubakar, nothing serious was done about reviving our Railway System and the Airports. I score GEJ high when it comes to infrastructural development in Nigeria. Cheers. |
On Corruption and the GEJ Administration Yes, GEJ has not done well concerning the tackling of corruption. His administration has witnessed some high levels of corruption. But the question I am asking APC supporters is this- Can we say the OBJ Government was not also corrupt? Then we have the IBB and Abacha led Governments that bled Nigeria blind financially Between IBB and Abacha, the amounts stolen from the Federal Reserves were MASSIVE and makes GEJ's Government's corruption look like child's Play. And can APC supporters beat their chests and say Buhari will charge IBB and Abacha families to court for the money they stole? Why is it that Southern corruption is highlighted in the media while Northern Corruption is hardly spoken about and muted? |
I appreciate healthy political debates but the way some Buhari supporters behave online is very bad and uncouth and aggressive. For about two months, I have been giving reasons why I am not supporting a Buhari Presidency. I also equally stated that I am not too happy with the GEJ administration. After marshaling my points, these APC people would just come out aggressively and quote figures that are not tenable or make sweeping generalizations based on nothing. If this is how APC Supporters think, then I don't think Nigeria's economic situation will get better if Buhari wins. I have challenged APC supporters to give solid reasons why they think Buhari is the best choice to lead Nigeria and all I get are half-measured responses. Anyway, let the best man win. Stay Blessed. |
@Kolade354 The turn out of voters in the South-East and South-South is equally high too just like in the North for Buhari. I have a right to support any of the Presidential Candidates. Come on, this is democracy. You are very uncouth and bitter yourself . Did I even say anything bad about Buhari here? You are a very bitter person yourself. |
My People, how una dey? I am not in Nigeria but I am fully interested in this election. My Father is from Edo State and my Mother is Yoruba ( Ijebu ). To be honest, I don't support the APC and Rtd General Muhammadu Buhari for some reasons close to my heart. However, it seems the PDP is not doing too badly in the South-West. With the votes the PDP has recorded in Lagos State alone, it seems the APC has not won Overwhelmingly in Lagos as I am being led to believe. If the results I am seeing on Nairaland are anything to go by, this election could end in a Stalemate between Buhari and Jonathan. Yes, Buhari would win the core North massively but so will GEJ win in the South-East and South-South with about 70% vote there. Buhari's nemesis might be the small small and average votes Jonathan is picking up in APC strongholds. People should not just wave GEJ away just like that. Cheers. |
Wole Soyinka's Mum, Grace Eniola Soyinka, is from the Ransome-Kuti Family. Professor Wole Soyinka and Late Fela Anikulapo Kuti are Cousins. Wole Soyinka's Mother ( Grace Eniola Soyinka ) and Fela's Mother ( Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti ) were very close and they were both activists. They both led demonstrations in Abeokuta that led to the abdication of the King of the City back in the days. You can't talk of Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti without talking about Eniola Soyinka. Cheers. |
Some People are not the only ones 'BORN TO RULE'. There are more than 250 tribes in Nigeria. People will vote with conviction on March 28, 2015. People will say one thing and do another thing on March 28, 2015. By 2019, we should have an Igbo Candidate for the Presidency. Little by Little, we are dismantling the 'Born To Rule' Cabal and Mentality. Stay Blessed. |
Buhari is not going to make a big impact in Edo and Delta State. Don't think the average Edo or Delta Man is stupid. GEJ will garner 78% of the votes in the Mid-West Region of Nigeria. Cheers. |
Can we have pictures of the Mini Flat you are letting out? Thanks. |
You guys should see my own list of how to spot a Nigerian Abroad. 1. The confidence of Nigerians abroad is very obvious when you come across them. It does not matter the kind of job they are doing. They are just confident and always searching for better opportunities. Most other Africans are often timid or easily controlled by white people. 2. Nigerians are highly suspicious of one another in Europe and America. I've noticed that other Africans are friendlier towards people from their country. 3. Nigerians are very religious even if they have low moral standards. Nigerians take church attendance seriously abroad . Walk on the streets in Europe on a Sunday Morning or Afternoon, and the gaily dressed blacks you will see have a 98% chance of being Nigerian. 4. Nigerians also work against the progress of themselves abroad, especially if they work in the same location. Our Naija peeps rat on their fellow Nigerian colleagues just to stop them from getting specific shifts etc. We need to stop this behaviour. Cheers. |
I just love the hustling spirit of the average Chinese Man or Woman sha . They will go to any extent to make money as long as it is not stealing other people's property or doing money rituals etc. While I believe this Chinese man should be punished for his misdeed, I still don't understand why we can't produce common diapers in Nigeria. We need to step up our manufacturing prowess or else we will continue to witness incidents and cases like this. China has become the factory of the world. Nigeria can become the factory of Africa if we get our priorities right. Cheers. |
The second lady looks like Kate Henshaw. I'll score her 80%. I think she should be contacted about the audition. She has my vote to win it. Cheers. |
We need a foreign technical adviser as soon as possible. Stephen Keshi has done his best for Nigeria, but it is very clear that his best is not enough. Winning the African Nations Cup is very different from performing creditably on a bigger level. I believe we don't need a world class coach. We just need someone that knows what it takes to build a national team from the scratch. We need someone who is not prejudiced and biased in his selection of players for the Super Eagles. We need someone who has coached in the academy of a club in Europe and who knows how to spot young talent that can be groomed to play for the Super Eagles within a year. And that coach cannot be a Nigerian. as far as I am concerned. Why can't we contact Bonfrere Jo or Clemens Westerhof ( Two of our most successful coaches ) to recommend a Technical Adviser/Coach that can take the Super Eagles to the next level? I still prefer a coach from the Netherlands for Nigeria . Cheers. |
I have had this experience too several times, though It has not happened for at least a year now. And the Op is right. The attack stops when you call the name of Jesus Christ. The evil hands will press you down on the bed and you would not be able to breathe. Sometimes, I am aware of when the demon/spirit/witch is around and my spirit automatically starts to pray. The pressing would not happen then because I had prayed before the demon attacked. I understand the OP perfectly. The evil creature has never spoken to me though whenever I resisted it. It just vanishes when I call on the name of Jesus. We need to be watchful and prayerful. Cheers. NB: I have also been pinched in the dream by this creature/spirit/demon/witch back in 2007. God is good. Jesus is Lord. AMEN. |
If you are good at teaching Subjects like Mathematics, English Language, English Literature, Fine Arts, Economics, Biology etc, the Service Year is a good time to make cool money. You can decide to start your own tutorial Centre. If you are not serving in Lagos, renting buildings for this kind of business will not cost you a lot of money. You can start a Tutorial centre for Secondary School and Primary School students who will be writing their WAEC, JAMB and Common Entrance Examinations. You can even get some other Corpers to work with you as teachers. This does not mean you won't be attending NYSC Programs and Activities. NYSC Head Counts and Activities come once in a while. So you can just find someone to deputize for you while you attend NYSC Functions and Programmes. You need to attend NYSC Programs because the State NYSC Coordinators sometimes count Corpers serving in a specific state and attendance registers are used. So you need to attend these headcounts to avoid punishment or being asked to spend more months ( 3-12 Months ) in service. During the service year, you can also start planning for your Masters Program in Nigeria or outside the country. This means you need to make good use of Libraries in the State you are serving in. Libraries are good sources of information and you should never look down on a Library no matter how old it looks or how badly equipped the Library is. Every Library is a potential source of good information. So you need to use the Library to gather information about international scholarships and study grants. Some Libraries have good books on Foreign Scholarships etc. So make the Libraries in your State of Primary Assignment your Friend. With your level of Education as a Graduate, you can start businesses from the scratch in the State you are serving in. I still don't see the reason why a Corper that is industrious will want to return to his Father's House after the Service Year I have a lot more to say but I will stop here. Thanks for reading and stay blessed. |
I served in 2005/2006 in Akure, Ondo State. The Ondo State Orientation Camp is located at Ikare-Akoko. Well, I want to advice all the Corpers that will be serving this year. You need to make productive use of the 12 Months as a Corper. Please, don't move with fellow Corpers that are not focused or Corpers who only live for the moment. If you believe in God and you are a Christian, please join the NCCF. You won't regret being a member of the Nigerian Christian Corpers Fellowship ( NCCF ). Advantages of Joining The Nigerian Christian Corpers Fellowship 1. The NCCF will offer you refuge after you have been discharged from Camp after the 3 Weeks Orientation Program. Many Corpers are starngers in the States they are posted to and could become homeless after the Orientation Camp Program. This is where the NCCF comes in. Right from the day you enter the Orientation Camp, the NCCF Executives will start approaching you and Fellowship Programs will be ongoing. Once you start attending the Fellowship Programs, you will know about plans being made to cater for you after your 3 weeks in Camp. On your last day in Camp, you will be conveyed to the Family Houses of the NCCF in various parts of the States you are posted to. The NCCF will offer you shelter for some weeks, before you get a place of your own. 2. Being a member of the NCCF will help your spiritual life. It is so easy to get carried away in Camp and after you get posted to your place of primary assignment. By joining the NCCF, you will meet people with vision and purpose. You will get more focused and you won't walk alone if you are a member of the NCCF. 3. The NCCF will also help you visit different parts of the State you are serving in through the Rural Rugged Evangelism Program. You will have the chance to spend the weekend in Villages you never imagined you would travel to. You will get to see what rural Nigeria looks and feels like. You will also be able to preach the gospel to people who might not have had the chance to hear the gospel. The Rural Rugged is often a very exciting Program. 4. You can also meet your wife or husband as a member of the NCCF. I know of people who are married to today to guys or ladies they met while engaging in activities as NCCF Members. I did not get married to a NCCF Colleague though. But your case might be different from mine .Apart from being a Member of the NCCF, you also need to use your time well. The Service Year is a time when you can plant seeds for your future. You can start a company during your service year. You need to see beyond the ordinary. Many Nigerian States have rural communities where Foodstuff and crops are very cheap. You can start buying foodstuff and taking them down to Lagos for re-selling. If your Primary Place of Assignment is not paying you a monthly stipend, you don't have to worry about anything. You can just get your attendance sheet signed, so that you can get your monthly NYSC Allowance. Then you can use your time to engage in business ventures. Who says you can't start a Plantain Chips business? Who says you can't even settle down in your State of Service after the NYSC Program? Once you have established a flourishing business, you can decide to live permanently in the State you served in. There are more untapped opportunities in other States than Lagos State and Abuja. TO BE CONTINUED.... |
I have read all the posts on this thread and I only have this small contribution to make: What are the contributions of Nigerian Wives and Ladies to their relationships or marriages? Why do ladies find it hard to contribute financially to towards the success of their marriages? These are questions that need answers. Thanks. |
I just want to thank God for making 2013 a splendid year for me. I got married this year. Glory be to God. I also thank God for giving me great business ideas in 2013. Ideas I am still working with. I was also delivered from a mysterious illness that enveloped me after I returned from Nigeria to my base in Europe. God is good. |
I love Suya Jare !!Suya, Suya, Suyaya ![]() There is this Mallam at the Omole Housing Estate, Junction, Omole, Ikeja. The Suya of that Mallam is amazing. There are two Mallams selling Suya at the main gate of the Estate. I'm talking about the Mallam at the left hand side of the gate area. Then I love the Suya at Allen Avenue, Ikeja. Yes, the name of the place is 'The University of Suya'. I love Suya that is well prepared with lots of Chilli and Onions sprinkled on it. And the way Suya is prepared in Northern Nigeria is a wee bit different from the way it is made in the South. The Northern Suya strips are much bigger than the ones down South. Maybe it is because meat is cheaper in the Hausa-Fulani-Kanuri States of Nigeria. What do you think? |
Is there no one out there that can give me some advice about selling books in Nigeria? I have the means of getting all kinds of books from where I am based abroad at very cheap prices. I plan to ship them down to Nigeria and sell them to people. I am talking about quality books ( Novels, How To Books, Comics, Biographies, Autobiographies, Self help, Gardening, Business etc ). Is it a profitable business in Nigeria? Let me hear from you. Cheers. |
I have been toying with this business idea for some days now. I live in the UK and I have access to a lot of books at very cheap prices. Lots of novels, comics, self-help books etc. I can source for these books very cheaply where I am based as I am very mobile and hardworking. Now, I know it has been said that Nigerians do not read and all that. However, when I was schooling in Nigeria ( University of Ibadan ), there was this old man who used to come and sell books and Magazines in my Hall of Residence. He would set up his table and place all kinds of books and magazines there. Amazingly, he always sold a reasonable amount of items before packing up for the day. I bought some books from him. And I am talking about the years 2001-2005 when the internet had already been present in Nigeria. The books the old man sold are not even up to the standard of the books at my reach and disposal. I have access to brand new and fairly used novels, comics, textbooks etc at cheap prices. Now, I intend to ship these books and reading materials to Nigeria and sell them to people. I have some selling techniques I will not disclose here, but I need to ask this question. Will this business be successful in Nigeria? I believe it will but I want to hear your own viewpoints. What do you think? Let me hear from you and other ideas you might have. Thanks. |
So many Nigerians in the UK are in this painful situation of living under false identities all in a bid to survive. The UK should just organize an Amnesty for illegals who have spent more than 5 years in the country and who do not have criminal records. This will sort out the complex immigration problem to an extent. Spain and Italy have granted Amnesties to Illegal immigrants in the past. The UK should follow suit. This stubborn headed approach to tackling the immigration problem is not working . A fresh and unique approach is needed. |
There is nothing like being honest in life. Using false identities will slow down your progress in life. And the law will certainly catch up with you in the end if you don't change your ways. I hope lessons will be learnt from this incident. Stay Blessed. |
ighoosagie: u must b an old man.Jay Z and his wife are celebrities, so their pictures are everywhere. Jay Z will not put the picture of his family on a forum like this. And who are you calling old man? I have a right to my own opinion. Cheers. |
@OP, You should not have posted the pictures of your family on Nairaland. There is no wisdom in what you have done. I'm sorry if you get offended with what I have just said, but what you've done is unwise. Thanks. |
Ordinarily, there should be no visa restrictions between African Countries. It is shocking that Nigerians need visas to go to East, South and Central African Nations. The African Union ( AU ) should wake up to modern day realities. This is Africa and Africa is Black. I should not need a visa to go to Zambia or Uganda . Africans should be free to travel, work and settle in any country on the continent as long as they won't get involved in criminal activities. My plan is to spend my vacations in other African countries though I live in Europe. Cheers. |
