freshcvv: How easy was it to loot money and have it 'kept' in countries that were part of the west who sanctioned Nigeria and also blocked Nigeria and the outside world (west) from doing business together?

Nigeria was under financial/economic/social sanctions all through the reign of Abacha, how then was he able to keep his loots in some of these countries that were part of those against his govt?

Money is not stolen like reading ABC sir. There were technicalities involved in doing those things. The same western imperialists that sanctioned him had machineries on ground to romance with him (Abacha), though indirectly.

Surely, his death would mean different things to different people.
Many people claiming he was the best president compared to others had their reasons; but to me, he wasn't.
On the 6th of June, 1998, a certain man had his appointment with Abacha himself, rescheduled (a civillian and a nonentity to me at that time). How he got that connection, I don't know. He was told that the C-in-C himself rescheduled his appointment for June 9, 1998. That was how he never got that opportunity to get his own indomie at that time. Modakeke and Ife war consumed lives in Osun state and this thing happened twice during Abacha's reign, yet little was done to forestall the crises at that time.
Our civil service was jeopardized during this man's reign. As a teacher then, you had to introduce a book or handouts to the students to buy so that they can have some enjoyment. Those in the civil service won't even come to work at all, while those that decided to, would just turn the office to a gist planet.
The middle class was non-existent at that time. It was either the high class or the low class. The economy was of no effect to the majority of people at all. The Naira was of great value that time, but it must be noted that to get N500 at that time was not a small thing at all.
His tyranny paved way for OBJ to become the president, though against the Yoruba nation's wishes. Had OBJ, a military-civilian, not become the president, we would have been under the man whom the whole nation hated and hate till today, IBB.
Abacha's tyranny would have been good had it been propagated like late Chavez of Venezuela or late Ghaddafi of Libya.
Besides, soldiers are not meant to rule, they are only meant to protect the sovereignty of a nation, and if they get the taste of power, they won't differentiate it from handling gun (power).

Earlier on, Jenny told us that she knew of an IT guy that did MSc in IT and he studied for a year. She said the guy looked for sponsorship but couldn't, so he had to come back home or something like that. I know how those Asians can behave. They also domain in USA and Canada too like that.

You can't go from a higher grade or class to lower now; it has to be the other way round.
I suggest you look for a school with a 2 yrs program since it's an IT based program, or go for a college Advanced Diploma of 2 years.

To me, Ladoja-Akala pact is still a charade and it goes beyond what we are talking about now. Ladoja is smart and also vengeful, and he will surely give Akala a payback at what he did to him.
Another interesting thing is that Ladoja is a high chief in Ibadan, and for him to now team-up with a man that ridiculed Olubadan council (of which he, Ladoja is among) is funny.
Let's watch how it goes.

It wasn't that the monarch and Ibadan elders didn't meet with Ladoja as you said, they did but he (Ladoja) never obliged to them. He told them that as long as Ajimobi had right to contest, so also he too. After the house of Rep votes had been split, people became jittery that Akala might win the election. Practically at that time, Akala was ahead of all of them. What made things go against him was that Ibadan people turned away from Ladoja at the die minutes because he only focused on Oyo (maybe because of Adeleke) and Ibadan. As this issue was going Alaafin had to be beckoned with because Alaafin and Akala were at war then, and Alaafin was able to work on Oyo south monarchs and get their support to punish Akala at that time. Since Akala was from Ogbomosho, he could get the favour from Oyo north and had already counted Oyo central and Oyo south as "not winnable" for him. Ladoja's entrance to the scene and refusal to back out was a good one for Akala at that time. With Ibadan votes being split among ACN and AP in Oyo central, PDP had higher chance to get all votes for him in Oyo North, and votes splitting for him in Oyo south while others will scramble for the remaining in Oyo central. As God would have it, Oyo south slipped away from PDP, leaving only Oyo north for them. In the die minutes, Ibadan people rallied round support for Ajimobi to win; including Accord people.
I do I know this? My constituency, till tomorrow, is an Accord stronghold. I wasn't in Nigeria that time, but I was with political big-wigs who were placing calls home to get facts and consolidate on their mathematical calculations, right even on flight.
By the way, many people whom Akala had trusted to gain their supports duped him. I know them so well. They collected the money and voted against him. Many in my constituency also did it too.

barcanista: If this news is true then Ajimobi is in trouble. Those who follow SW politics know that NO GOVERNOR HAVE WON RE-ELECTION since the History of Oyo State. Akala lost because Ibadan People said NO SECOND TERM that Ibadan man must succeed Him. Akala is from Ogbomoso with full support but he LOST because Ibadan was not on his side. Ladoja is an Ibadan man so collaborating with Akala will mean KNOCK-OUT for Ajimobi. May the better candidate win

tomakint: While I quite agreed with your constructive assertion here, I must quickly remind you that PDP under the under-performing Alao Akala nearly clinched the governorship but for the split vote manipulations of Ladoja's Accord Party that gave victory to Ajimobi's ACN! Now imagine these two bigwigs coming together at a time like this, this simply means a marriage between PDP and Accord Party and this is where Ajimobi needs to be very watchful and stop thinking he has the power of incumbency especially going by the antecedents of Ibadan politics that they hardly give their governors second term ticket!

Oyo politics is a different one in Yorubaland. I have my reasons in saying their merger won't work. Akala has offended many people from Accord party and the likes of Wole Oyelese and co won't want Ladoja to come and start dictating the ground for them. That one might not make the pact go smoothly.
Let's just sit and watch how the game unfolds; besides all what we want is good governance and Mr Ajimobi is giving it out and has set the pace that things can be done sanely and cleanly and have effect and impact on lives.

In 2011, Ladoja had the highest support over Ajimobi, and. Akala's stakes in winning were high because none between Ladoja and Ajimobi might rake the votes required for winning. In fact, PDP had the larger share of the electorates. At the end, what happened? Side-shifting took place.
Another thing is that I won't trust Ladoja/Akala romance at all because Ladoja is very cunning. He is smart and also vengeful and will do everything possible to get his payback at the party and person that ridiculed him, except he will be in control of the whole show like the Molete man. Besides, people ate getting wiser each day.

Even if Ajimobi isn't going to be re-elected for second term, I'm pretty sure it's none of these clowns here forming godfathers now.
By the way, Akala was a bastard and has further proved he's a bastardo desperate for power and recognition. Was it not him that said Ladoja was finished politically? Was he not him that an Ibadan politician did not have the audacity to dictate the pace of politics in the state? Was it not the same Akala that said he was far above Ladoja? @Tomakint, you mentioned grassroot development as their main focus, the duo spent 8 yrs together as governors of the state. Please point out at any grassroot development either Ladoja or Tura did in their tenure? People are now wise. Even if people were going to vote out the present governor, they won't vote any man these two might come up with. Will you compare security during their time with what we have now? Prime Ministress, your country needs to work on tuition of your schools so that many international students can come in and partake in their schools.
For the brother going for private TAFE, I would suggest you go for public ones and choose a diploma course instead of a certificate course. Just my suggestion because private colleges might be costlier than public ones and diploma because it will facilitate moving to advanced diploma more quickly than certificate route.

3 months befor resumption is okay, but you can aply a 4 months before. Maybe you apply in August.

If I were you, all my focus should exclude visa and the handbags it carries and face SAT/TOEFL. That is your first hurdle. How to register and pay for it? How to prepared hard for it? Those are the main issues you are to face now.

Since i am self sponsored,note that we must have all the money for that period of stay in that country,you know extending it have no financial attachment to present unless as the immigration rules are changing.Only for that one year course will cost us not less than 6 million talk of another year, some people are lucky to see who is sponsoring them,me no get,i am on my own,it is not really easy,we are seeking for better life not just money.

nasilas: Yes I have been..and to answer your other question, most of the successful applicants on this thread were not going for an ordinary diploma program with a year duration.. A Graduate Diploma might also help in making your case more tenable..

One of our brothers, @Iamcapella, went for diploma at a TAFE college and he got his visa, so I don't think that will be a problem.
What I can chirp in is that @Americanvisa should apply for the program instead of the wife. But sir, didn't you raise an issue like this before and Jenny answer you?

People go for diploma course in another field that is related to their field to give them added knowledge of how that new field can affect their field of profession. I don't think there will be any red flag raised over your case; or better still, go for Advanced Diploma.
Do you intend to apply for the visa together with her? (I mean go together at the same start date).
