Why will you agree to a fight you are certain to lose..... except the Gypsy King has grand plans to take a dive to keep the British heavyweight circus going.... duh. Josh has peaked, beaten all the folks he could and lost to all he should. His career is all but over. |
pealso:Without restructuring.... I'm afraid votes and voting remains and ineffectual tool to changing the fortunes of Nigeria(ns) fundamentally. It is like approaching a well stocked ATM but your account is empty. |
Algeria again.... , biko, can't we find some other folks to play? |
Kasssandra:The tariffs are too low for these companies to hire enough staff and instal monitoring equipment to check power theft. It is a vicious cycle. PS: The next gen smart meters that can detect tampering and theft are very expensive. |
Power has been restored by AEDC @ 15:50. |
Tallguy28:Good one. |
Kasssandra:That was a light hearted punt. Just pulling Mbappe's floppy calves.... ![]() |
Kasssandra:Well history counts for little in soccer. We all know that. |
SaLongs1:She will be bolstered to push once again and possibly break-through. And all those fumbling and bumbling blacks in 'Les Bleus' will be quaking in their cleats..... Perhaps Kylian Mbappe may yet play for the Super Eagles when Mad Marie deports him back to Boki.... ![]() |
Italian politics, eternally unstable since the rivalries of the plebeians and patricians in ancient Roman antiquity. That country should have been on top of the European tree if not for everlasting political bickering akin to Africa. Hope she can make one calendar year in Rome. |
Rahkman:2nd Niger-Bridge, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.... |
Revolution2022:They know ASUU are not going to obey indeed. There are many ways to disobey a court order while obeying it.... as in this case. |
Yeah, noticed the trip off when AEDC tried to restore power after this morning's rainstorm. Okay, team 'power has improved', over to you. |

Aluminium used in making beverage cans is inflammable but very few people realize that when powdered aluminium is potentially explosive. That is where the fire department should start. What was being done to/with those cans.... |
The government should have a wrecking centre where these bikes are disassembled and the useful parts like engine and gearbox removed and rebuilt into more useful industrial equipment such as rotor tillers for agriculture or rock core drillers for engineering or even rice milling machines.... ![]() Nothing should be wasted. A lot of forex has gone into importing them. |
Like I said many times before. 2023 elections is fast looking like an ethno-religious exercise. People will generally vote along regional lines and expect the 3 leading candidates to dominate their bases and make very little impact outside. |
Pictures please. I don't download or play videos. |
Period007:Oga, the north knows he cannot win. That he has no national spread and isn't doing anything seriously to making cross regional incursions. They don't vote sentimentally, they vote to win. He won't get more than 10% of the total vote and that is if he doesn't capitulate before February which I suspect he will. |
Kingpin1000:This is exactly what I was saying. With the 3 leading candidates coming from the north, east and west, voting will likely run along those lines and each candidate is likely to amass no more than 30 percent of the total votes cast. Even the middlebelt is likely to fragment into western middle-belt, eastern middle-belt and northern middle-belt going respectively. With so much uncertainty and anxiety folks will likely vote along lines of their comfort zones. Wike on the other hand has ended up taking himself out of the equation completely. By burning every bridge out of the fortress island of isolation he has built around his polity and persona there is practically no way he can win a national election in the future. |
Conner44:Criticism and the ability to hold leaders(hip) to account is the hallmark of democracy anywhere it is successfully practiced in the world. Integrity is walking the talk. Therein lies the benefit to the citizenry. We must begin to delaminate propaganda from fact if this country must move forward. We must begin to take the reins of government. If Mr. Buhari came to power in 2015 by the integrity and thriftiness factor but all we see today is the complete opposite in wanton corruption in the government he presides over and exuberance in everything from his personal family to the way public funds are lavishly wasted then it will be madness for anyone not to question and critique any other veneer presented in future. And I tell you the truth. The degree leaders are held to account is the degree to which the citizens see the 'walk' those leaders 'talk'. So Mr. Peter Obi can claim any antecedent and fly his CV of prudence as governor all over the place, but for it to be a reality the people have to be critical stakeholders in ensuring it is replicated in future. And it starts like this. So anyone belittling this criticism is not helping himself, helping the man or helping Nigeria, period. If he cannot be criticised as candidate Obi then I seriously fear what will happen as President Obi.... I like him as a candidate and believe him to be the best amongst the rest in many parts but I am not disillusioned about what it takes for a good candidate to become a good leader and succeed practically in the real world of Nigeria. A father cannot pamper a son he wishes to become great and tolerate anything the son does. This is the summary of the Buhari administration. Good intentions, bad outcome. |
Hmmm.... that is incredibly dangerous. An unstable China is a potential global end of days. |
tctrills:I see. Show me one who has done that. |
Well, one thing is clear. Whoever wins next year's elections will have a huge, huge task ahead. I don't envy him at all. In 2015 the President was elected by a round-about even majority. This time whoever wins will theoretically be supported by no more than a third of Nigerians meaning he will not be the first choice of the majority of Nigerians. That is the only certainty here and this will lead to serious governance challenges such as Nigeria has never seen. You guys better choose who can weather the political storms ahead. |
Well it appears this same faith ticket is a more serious bone that anticipated and instead of making noise about it the establishment is just bidding their time or simply not responding. It is going to be a big problem, whoever wins will have to tackle if 'competence' is to be sought in the future. If Nigeria cannot be restructured to sort it out once and for all then the quality of governance has to be elevated to such a degree that has never been seen before to make all Nigerians comfortable with whatever combinations the polity throws up in future. |
The only point on which I agree is the zoning brouhaha. And on this point a lot of folks have it twisted. First there is Nigeria as an entity where leadership generally swings from the north to south and v-v. The ruling APC is on this track, the opposition PDP however is not, and it all has its origins in the tenure of the late President Yaradua and the emergence of former President Jonathan. The summary of which is that the south has occupied the office for 14 out of the 16 years the party was in power. If that is not skewed bordering on making the PDP a regional party, then what is. For the south to have demanded for the Presidency yet again potentially turning 14 years to 18 or even 22 out of 24 years of southern domination will not only have destroyed the PDP completely but destabilized Nigeria as a whole. The fact is that those championing for a southern PDP ticket today should have prevented Jonathan from contesting in 2011 if they had the foresight that it would cause so much problems down the line. Granted the north has not been too faithful to the PDP over the years but if the PDP is not to be condemned to becoming a regional party ( a south-south party of sorts since the south-east have left the building for LP) it is expedient for them to permit BY ALL MEANS northern domination (for a season) as they accepted southern domination in all the years past. Now, this is not Nigeria's problem as the majority of citizens have decided that power rotates to the south and I think this is what someone like Peter Obi saw in deciding to leave (not because of money politics or the harassment of Wike as some have speculated) but the fact that the PDP is in a structural mess that cannot be simply resolved without a fallout on its chances. But the silver lining here is that with the PDP fielding a northern candidate and the other leading parties leaning south there is light at the end of the tunnel that sectional politicking is on its last legs. For in the next round of elections after 2023 the regional identities are bound to reverse with the APC fielding a northern candidate while the PDP fields a southern candidate, that is if a 'Yaradua event' doesn't arise before then to further twist the democratic storm. |
Think9ja:No, no, no, no.... abeg stay there. We don't want millions of people here. This city is completely filled to and beyond capacity and everything has broken down. We cannot take more. Please stay in your Lagos abeg. |
From the picture I can see a lot of rebar but the quality of concrete looks questionable. But from the collapse pattern my guess is wrong structural design/detailing. |
kahal29:Wow... what a stinking mess the PDP has turned into. Learnt nothing from years in the doldrums and is certainly not fit to return to power. So once again it is the Hobson's Choice of leadership the lack of restructuring has placed before us. Once again we will be going to the polls with handkerchiefs over our noses and surgical gloves over ours hands just to cast our ballots for folks that are unfit, unable, untenable and undesirable. Just look at sorry political party that wants to regain power. |
fiizznation:She said it was a last minute request and didn't anticipate it because she had interviewed Iranian President's before him and was not required to wear hair covering outside Iran. A clear read will purge your bias here. |
SmartPolician:Agreed. Will however like to see other things than concrete and asphalt. |
When we said corruption is not the problem time and again, they said we did not know what we were saying, that if the anti-corruption czar was elected in 2015 then corruption will end. We told them in response that the error will surprise them and that by the end of the Buhari regime everyone will be demystified. Today, how far. How many of the hailers are not shocked at the turn of events, how many of them will confidently recast their 2015 vote in truth. Fellow citizens, once again. Without restructuring fighting corruption will remain mission impossible for any government, any party, any Head of State. That is why the establishment fights tooth and nail to prevent Nigeria's restructuring but permit everything else. It is a pity that the owners of Nigeria have seduced the nation into believing it doesn't matter. |
F117nighthawk:Indeed and added to the fact that the average citizen will not even support debt forgiveness because they said at one time, 'do not borrow' but the government insisted simply to appease vested interests. |
