If only they can be transparent and tell us exactly what these debts are. But when the people are largely against these loans (because they are not transparent) the international community will feed into this and resist any sort of forgiveness overtures. |

Hmmm..... Anna the Muscovite should not laugh so hard too soon. She could be the next target of the dreaded draft when Russia runs out of men. It has happened before in a nation notorious for being care free in war. When a nation embraces autocracy and loves 'strongmen' leadership there are no bounds as to the carnage facing every generation. For if Russia was a democracy it is certain Putin's government will be over by the next polls, but this crazy fellow is determined to take down his country with himself.... and he will. |
Without a clear policy statement directed to the religious minorities in the north addressing their fears, aspirations and expectations, I am not too sure any traction will be gained. And this present government can lend Mr. Tinubu a hand by starting now... by stopping the killings. For heavens sake people were slaughtered in Benue just yesterday. These things do not help. In a country as religiously polarised as Nigeria a strong stand one way should lead to a serious leaning the other or the whole structure collapses. God forbid this whole scenario plays out in Mr. Tinubu's favour and religious tensions and violence continues or escalates in his tenure, what then happens? He should meet with all sides of the religious divide now to extract guarantees of peace, equity and justice. He should do that hard tasking because it was he who kindled this whole matter despite the warnings not to. He brought this ant infested wood to APC Hq. thinking it does not matter. |
SolarEngr:Summary of the sad Nigeria question. Someone is taking action, no matter how 'waste of time and resources' you call it, to effect a better Nigeria but you prefer to call on God to effect a better Nigeria for your prosperity.... I really do not understand Nigerians, but one thing is sure. We are the authors, artists and builders of everything we experience. It is us who brought ourselves to our knees by our attitude to life. The black man can see nothing beyond his persona and cannot build viable, prosperous societies anywhere in the world. 'if you know, you know', indeed. |
Officialgarri:Okay, if there is not governor, is there no cabinet Minister from that State..... what does he say during cabinet meetings?... are there no Senators, and other legislators even closer to the tragedy..... is this a democracy or what? |
Bluffly:Uhuh... and all other nutritional lead weights that require you jog ten miles before they evaporate.... leaving you 'kwashiorkored'....Can anyone tell me exactly what nutritional value lies in a plate of eba.... ![]() |
Nigerians don't eat other things apart from those fatty, carbohydrate grenades (except legumes in their purest form) and it reflects in their lifespan. They can't resist 'swallow' and of course it swallows them up. |
The problems of beef in general far outweighs what I read here. Not healthy at all and a disaster for the planet. |
Period007:Should have been the President in 2015. We all said so. The best at the primaries back then. |
Realist12:But Muslims are minorities in the south and the APC courageously ignored the majority Christians and selected a minority candidate. So why can't this happen in the north. Why must the south always subsidize the investment of peace in Nigeria. The northern majority has had it all for 7 running 8 years and this government hasn't spared anything to ensure they have tasted power and enjoyed all it's trappings. Why can't they make a 4 year sacrifice for the unity and progress of Nigeria for once in all Nigeria's history. |
Suffering will continue till restructuring is acceptable. |
Cannot be old yam. |
The kind of people that make the quest for state police much more difficult. |
Ma'am, I think this is a bit far fetched. |
God1000:Can't remember the last time I used my air conditioners at home and the fridges seem to be off most of the time. That is the simple reason. As soon as the rains abate and the winter heat arrives then we can conclude. Its cyclical. |
Kasssandra:Once again, which planet are you on. Who does this? |
Kasssandra:Completely out of touch with reality particularly as regarding taxation. Ask government about their tax receipts and discover that it has fallen due to the great big enemy, inflation. So seeking more taxation from those outside the net is just pie in the sky. It is not a chicken and egg situation. Government should fix the economy and all other things will be added unto them. This is the only economy I know where government does nothing about inflation. I mean absolutely nothing. It carries on fuelling inflation, putting vested interests well ahead of the economy. Have you seen next years budget proposal set before the N/A.... full of inflationary spending. Abeg this economy is going nowhere. |
Pravedk:On the contrary. Wike has a lot to lose in future. His future aspirations will need the kind of support he is thrashing now. He has burnt so many internal bridges and appears so cross politically unstable that I cannot see anyone seriously investing in his political future. His best bet is to negotiate out a power base and then work for the party as lead to regain internal traction. PDP win or lose with him outside looking in, it is curtains for him politically. |
Nyamuri:But by burning all the political bridges with the majority rank and file of PDP leadership, how will he become presidential candidate and a potential winner in the 2027 elections he is purportedly targeting. Isn't he better off making conciliatory deals now and then working for the party's interest for future traction. This zero sum, knife edge game he plays is not wise. |
In a normal, sane democracy there is just no way the ruling APC can and should be re-elected no matter who is contesting. It is just not done, to continue with a party that has failed so badly. Doing so will ratify bad governance for the foreseeable future and nullify all the democratic gains of a change of government in 2015. |
Britishpea:Is this what a qualitative means to you folks.... little wonder Nigeria is in the bin. Honestly you people deserve the retrogressive leaders you empower. The average PVC remains a completely useless instrument of positive change. Nigerians are not ready to vacate the pit of retrogression. Hypocritically your type in the next breadth will be talking about 'issue based' campaigns and 'performance based' elections. |
N3TRAL:Because APC owns Nigeria abi. This is a multiparty democracy and what the PDP tried to do for decades in turning it into a one party state the APC will never be able. Just 7 years in power and they have sunk Nigeria and still wants to preside over its destiny....I laugh. |
Racoon: .... I know what everyone will say regarding this.... so just here for the cacophony... |
chisomkachy:Aha, it is now we can celebrate... particularly since the drug tests are done and dusted. Well done Miss Toby. Your legacy is written in gold. Now work on your longevity to make hay. |
Alexxx2000:Why hasn't she gotten a divorce all these years to avoid all the legal hurdles you may experience till you get married (and be opportuned to change by law)... except if she was not formally married to him. Anyway if you operate below legalistic radars you may just adopt new names for peace sake. |
codemaniacs:Abeg sit down and read your history before speaking. America was a nation of British want aways, persecuted folks who would not bow to the crown on account of religion. That is its origins. Australia on the other hand was dumping ground for British castaways, those who will not conform to society where sent there to eternal exile. See what both nations have become today, friends and allies with their former tormentors. It is not only blacks that have suffered in this world. All humanity has been inhuman to man. Most blacks think history started in 1887 and that it is only Africa that was plundered and her people enslaved. |
Modi, Indian PM sent a rep to the funeral, has better things to do, romanticizing with Vlad Putin. The West including the US can do nothing, can't even get angry with him or his people. How can they. With a growing nuclear arsenal and an economy bigger than half of Europe, who can mess with the Indians. But this same India was a colony of Britain, got independence in 1947 and despite having a bigger ethno-religious diversity than Nigeria has grown so big that the British people just a decade ago questioned their government for 'still giving development aid to India' despite having a smaller economy. What is Africa and the black man doing to earn the respect of the world, we are not the only colonies of someone. EVERYONE ON EARTH WAS ONCE CONQUERED BY SOMEONE. |
America fought a brutal war with Britain between 1775 and 1783 that secured her independence and ended the First British Empire. Since then America has developed itself to the point that today their President is given special privileges. Much of Africa meanwhile negotiated its independence in and around the 1960's and ended the second British Empire in the process but has seen a steady decline ever since till the point they have assumed the position of third world nations whose leaders ride the bus. Instead of introspection, her citizens are still punching at shadows. In a world where everyone was practically conquered by the British at one time or the other from Asia to the Americas, from the Arctic to the Antarctic, in a world that is all but english speaking, with english customs and traditions dominating, it is only Africa that still cannot surmount this fact of history. Every other continent has moved on and are all bigger and better than the British today except Africa. The endless whining and groaning and sighing is the clear sign where the problem is.... in the African head, the African mentality that has lent itself to excuses for failure and the inability to take responsibility for becoming great in itself. I have said it time and again. Britain did not become Great by excuses. They were overrun by the famous Roman General and Emperor Julius Caesar. Before then the Kelts, Vikings, even the French all at one time in antiquity conquered Britain and enslaved its people. They too fought to become what they are today. I do not see any Briton today hate on these people, the sons and daughters of their former foes for things done in generations past. WHEN WILL AFRICA LET GO AND BEGIN TO RE CREATE ITSELF TO BECOME GREAT. Every day of excuses will never move us forward as a national continent of blacks. FACT. |
Great development. But another even more profitable automotive venture which is less demanding is the manufacturing of parts, spares and components. A good Nigeria Automotive policy will ensure that industries are establish all over Nigeria to manufacture under license the components that go into these vehicles to further bring down forex demand and ensure a truly Nigerian made vehicle in the nearest future. It will also ensure vehicles on our roads have extended lifespan which saves a lot of capital outflow. |
ObaloluwaTel:Truth. This is just the bottom line. It is all about a working democracy which simply says you do not reward failure. So it is not about the individual but the party, a party that has performed woefully in the past 7 years and it is therefore illogical to bring them back to power. For if they are fit to return then the PDP and Jonathan's defeat in 2015 was not about his poor performance in government, but something else we rather not dwell on here. Which means if the APC retains power we have set a precedent for accepting and rewarding bad governance and saying loudly to the world, it doesn't matter. So sorry Mr. Tinubu your party and the present government doesn't care about your bid for top leadership in 2023 if not they will be wary about continuity and do all possible to make the citizens comfortable with continuity by good governance and a qualitative legacy. And you did little as 'party leader' to urge them along this line, if not for anything, for your sake. |
Hundreds of meetings, hundreds of trips, millions of dollars spent.... yet Nigeria continues to deteriorate and the experience of the average Nigerian citizen over that period has be abysmal. What exactly is the point. If we did not have all of these, what more will we have suffered. |
israelmao:Even if they choose to forget, we will remember fir a long, long time as Mr. Buhari's legacy. Mindless, plan-less, wanton financial recklessness of the highest order. A so called great leaders led and misled by reprobate Ministers. I said it on 2014 that by the end of his stint in 1983 that every one of his Minister's and MILADS were billionaires despite the much trumpeted anti-corruption veneer. Same thing repeating itself today. There in a public bark of a ferocious dog but a private whimper in government house where his appointees get away with anything and everything as a result of poor leadership. |
