It goes downhill fast! You can say that again. The toilets will be the first to adopt University Hostel standards. Then rain will quickly begin to fall inside the halls. Yes, I'm a pessimist...... I don't know where supposed human will stoop so low to govern animal kingdom in zoo. But there are terror organisations in the north who have denounced Nigeria, killed hundreds of thousands, destroyed whole swathes of territories, cost the economy trillions of naira, threatened to create a Caliphate (a state in a state) and stood against the liberties and prospects most southerners cherish, yet it has not been imputed against the entire north, southerners still vote for northern candidates in both major parties and at the gen polls. Is Tambuwal saying the north cannot vote for a southern PDP candidate despite having the presidency for 8 years? Why then should the south vote for a northern PDP candidate when they can’t do the same to us?
The greed of Northern PDP leaders is unbelievable. They must think southerners are stupid. They simply want to cheat the south of what truly belongs to the them and it’s left for southern PDP leaders to respond. Since APC is presenting a southern candidate, I see no reason why PDP should not do the same. In a battle of two southern candidates, I don’t see any reason why PDP should be scared. Trying to be clever by half. So why didn't the APC in opposition present a presidential candidate of 'southern' extraction at the 2015 polls. Why did they adopt a strategy of necessity in fielding PMB who clearly was the only candidate to remove GEJ. Every party does what it can to win as the overriding strategy while bitterly swallowing its principles. This is the tragedy of the structure which underpins this country. |

I'm from the south south. The very truth of the matter is that if PDP wants to win the next presidential election, it is logical it picks a very strong candidate from the north. That is the bitter truth That is why we say without restructuring we will continue to go round in circles. Only restructuring will change this narrative and make the criteria purely meritorious. The way we are going, we are headed for another set of poor quality candidates and invariably a poor quality resident of Aso Rock post 2023. |

Ademola47: Dangote refinery is a private business, why does the president has to use public machinery to formally launch it? Because the Dangote plant is economically significant to this country and as the chief investment marketer the President should be seen at the fore front of signifying that Nigeria is open for business. It will reassure investors both here and off shore that the government remains committed to industrialization despite the global economic turbulence of recent years. Boris Johnson is always seen up, in and around private enterprises doing the rounds for the UK economy. We should encourage and admonish our elected leaders to do same here. |

That is not true. You need to understand the context and timelines. The US has not intervened for years because they had been waiting for democracy to take root hoping it will lead to social justice in that country. But since democracy has stalled and the military is still hanging on with the resultant escalation of the pogroms, they feel it is the right time to act. Same thing with Nigeria. If democracy does not work for the overall good of all Nigerians and the violence continues in this country particularly against minorities, expect the west to lose patience and countries such as the US to become more assertive. So we better get our acts together fast. |

I despair when I read your sort of opinion because it confirms most Nigwrians are just sectionally biased folks only keen to give a dog a bad name justify their ill will towards said Dog.
Truth is that Nigeria would be better if Buhari was willing to work with and listen to the likes of the brilliant Tinubu rather than reject them in favour of the likes of Abba Kyari, Malami, Buni etal who will tell him what he wants to hear that will usually be against the best interest of Nigeria. I suspect this 'Buhari pushed him away' will be the lifeline of the Tinubu candidacy going forward.... And the facts of which will be the battle ground. Because, believe you me. It will be a tough, tough battle to separate and distance himself from this government. |

Dsalvo: Guy, abeg get sense na. Tinubu that Buhari pushed away, as soon as he entered Aso Rock in 2015, can influence Mr.President's thoughts and action how exactly?
I personally have no issues with anyone opposing Tinubu but, for your own sake and for the sake of how you are percieved, try to think and argue intelligently.
Most people know Buhari is conservative and precisely pushed Tinubu away because he percieves BAT as aggressively capitalised, reformational, a fan of decentralized democracies and a big advocate of devolving power away from the centre and towards other federating tiers of Government.
Tinubu is the last person the conservative and centrist-leaning Buhari would listen to, entertain or work with other than to win elections. If this is all true then why should anyone back a losing horse since Mr Buhari is likely to 'push him away' from the 2023 race. You see. The truth is that Mr. Tinubu has help foist and sustain such a terrible system that it threatens to eat him up as well. I still want to see how he will extricate himself from the political tragedy of the past 7 years while at the same time 'not stepping on toes' as he is apt to remind. And though I have said in the past that he should distance himself from the administration to gain some moral traction, I am not sure that gate remains open at this stage when things have a taken a serious turn for the worse. To be speaking of electricity reforms in the midst of perhaps the worst energy crises in living memory as a leading figure in the ruling party.....hmmm... is provocative. Mr Tinubu should have distanced himself from this goverment a much longer time ago and chipped in some criticism here and there to prove that his will be different. |

If you have sole right to appoint Buni, you should be courageous enough to relieve him to save your party, APC could be the last chance of keeping this country United, and once the party collapse, it's going to be free for all So they said about the PDP. This is nothing but blackmail. In all reason, with the situation of present day Nigeria, the APC cannot win a free and fair election and should not be rewarded for the way it has tortured the citizens of this country. And while I will never advocate for a one-party state, there has to be consequences for bad governance if not there will be no way of moving forward as a nation whatsoever. |

What mistakes if I may ask? Playing defensively the first leg. Granted Carlo has never had in his tactical bag all out attack but that is in the DNA of Real Madrid. The curious match up has to be Chelsea v Real Madrid. Very, very difficult to call. I think the key here will be the fitness of their leading men match day.
However discounting all that, on paper I think Real Madrid has the edge for the simple fact that they had a far tougher opponent in the round of 16 which will have honed their pysche. And with the experience of Carlo, the wily old fox, I think the deafening mistakes in that tie will not be repeated. |
