Leoleo1:The little I know about the prison system globally is that those on death row are mainly in solitary confinement for obvious reasons. |
UselessBuharist:It will go round, don't worry. The question is, can our correctional services be better, yes it can. Do we often complain about its condition, yes we do. Then what is the problem here. If you complain only about biased treatment against male prisoners then you have a case for advocacy. Start by encouraging what is good and it will go round and even perhaps spill onto the streets and into society in general. The fact that she may never walk the streets a free woman ever again is enough punishment. Justice is not vengeance, stop being emotional. |
Leoleo1:Even if she has been found guilty, as long as she is not on death row or serving hard labour, I see nothing wrong here. This is a plus for the NCS. |
UselessBuharist:She is already incarcerated. What do you want them to do.... to imprison her in the prison... Justice is not emotional and no law has been broken. I rather commend the correctional service for showing us a human face and assuring us that rights are not abused and prisoners made to suffer unduly. Perhaps this will attract the much needed assistance towards the 'correctional' aspect of the service. |
mrfm1:The answer lies in the abundance of responses previously. But I will just add a couple more detailed but simple reasons on the surface The car in question cannot be later than a 2012 model. I suspect it is about 2010. So it carries a twelve year old energy pack (if it has not been changed). Anyone knows what a twelve year old 'battery' can deliver in terms of energy storage and potential problems even the highly acclaimed lithium-ion batteries. Only the owner will know what performance (energy efficiency) he is getting out of the system but I don't think it will be much. A twelve year old battery can even be considered a potential harzard. Secondly, 2010/12 hybrid tech was still in its infancy so expect a lot of troubleshooting. That is why a lot of people prefer to wait for technology to be established before investing in it. The market for hybrid vehicles is bound to collapse very soon with the establishment of all electric vehicles around the world so expect a flood of these hybrids in the future. Cheap to purchase but impossible to maintain. Some major auto companies have discontinued the production of hybrids entirely. |
Meninmen:This is not true. The principal criteria for joining NATO is that a member nation must be fully democratic, which Russia isn't. These are excerpts: 'At the Madrid Summit, NATO invited Poland, Hungary, and the Czech Republic to begin accession talks with the Alliance. In the Summit Declaration, NATO also stated that "NATO remains open to new members under Article 10 of the North Atlantic Treaty . . . The Alliance expects to extend further invitations in coming years to nations willing and able to assume the responsibilities and obligations of membership, and as NATO determines that the inclusion of these nations would serve the overall political and strategic interests of the Alliance and that the inclusion would enhance overall European security and stability." While there is no membership checklist for interested nations, NATO has made clear that candidates for membership must meet the following criteria. Interested nations must: Uphold democracy, including tolerance for diversity; Be progressing toward a market economy; Have their military forces under firm civilian control; Be good neighbors and respect the sovereignty of other nations; and Work toward interoperability with NATO forces. Again, while these criteria are essential, they do not constitute a checklist leading automatically to NATO membership. New members must be invited by a consensus of current members. Decisions to invite new members must take into account the required ratification process in the member states. In the case of the United States, decisions are made in consultation with Congress. The key determinant for any invitation to new members is whether their admission to NATO will strengthen the Alliance and further the basic objective of NATO enlargement, which is to increase security and stability across Europe.' Note the bolded. Russia falls short. |
Meninmen:Another misconception you have brought out that a lot of people in these parts fail to realise because they simply do not read. At the time Hitler launched operation Barbarossa Stalin barely had a standing army, practically no means to fight and completely obsolete equipment. Why. He had a non aggression pact with Germany. Satisfied that Germany will decimate the allies he waited to partner with Hitler to share the spoils. But when Hitler lost the war in North Africa in 1943 he tore up this agreement because he needed the petro resources only Russia had within reach so he attacked. Stalin's quickly sent word to the United States for help and after lots of consideration and debate in Congress Teddy signed the aid pack to both Russia and later China to send them equipment which they deployed to buy time to manufacture theirs in massive numbers. I was saying last week that it is exactly what is happening in Ukraine today. If tomorrow by a miracle Ukraine is able to hold out and survive with all the gear supplied by NATO and Ukraine becomes a super power, folks back here will not remember history of how they were aided in many ways to survive. Such is the nature of the history of the world. America's biggest headache today in the West remains France and France remains belligerent, intolerable and non condescending to America for one reason. They were the principal help to the United States in their war of independence from the British all those hundreds of years ago. Today the British are closer to America than France.... but France has seen their naked.ness.... and vise versa in the second world war. |
ayindejimmy:Thank you for that. It attempted to join again some two decades ago if memory serves me right but again the problem was a fear of dictatorial hijack. What people fail to realize is that though America is the strongest member of NATO it does not interfere in the running of member countries. All it does is encourage democracy and civil liberties amongst its members but it does not seek to hijack the institutions of members. America has worked with difficult NATO members in the past. It never sees eye to eye with France for instance on most matters yet it never seeks to undermine their security. Why can't Russia rid itself of dictators, become democratic and take its place around the table of that security alliance. |
Alamkir:This is just plain lies. NATO is entirely a defensive minded organisation. The seeds of which were sown when the then Russia started a land grab after the collapse of Nazi Germany. Thus meant forceful adoption of Communism which many states just did not want. Today Communism is dead but the land grab remains Putin's lifelong ambition. Yes, Russia was once enticed to join NATO but the big stumbling block was its weak democratic institutions. NATO will never adopt a member state that is not fully democratic. That is why States like Poland were late to the party as they took a bit of time to settle. NATO cannot afford to have a member state with a sit tight dictator as he will hijack the alliance for personal ambitions. Russia should move towards democracy and it will be brought out of the cold, period. The only time NATO has used offensive force in Europe was in the Balkan wars of the 90's when it had to protect the fledgling nations of Bosnia and Kosovo against the genocidal aggression of Serbia. It did that purely for humanitarian reasons. And the warlords responsible are well tucked away in prison having been judged by the ICC. All was done to International standards and best practices. |
Russia bia, I think that horse has bolted.... The era of threats is over. What do you have to offer them that is better and more suited to their existence and way of life.... better than what the west has to offer. |
lanre316:The technology to maintain them is lean in these parts. When the electric drive train requires maintenance or repair, in most cases it is curtains. The second hand value.... or third hand in this case is almost non existent. |
Mac12:Half ICE, half electric is the simplest answer. |
AmALeo:How was it found? |
helinues:This is all you can say after aiding and abetting such a poor quality government incessantly over the past near decade. Is this not mean spirited. 'I told you so' is for those who said so from the get go. Not for later entrants into the 'National Association of Wailing wailers'. |
lugado:All you have stated above are the fruits of intellect and the products of diligence. Unfortunately both values are lost on those the government deems fit to entrust critical services. They are the same kind of folks in charge of the petroleum and energy sectors Yet another proof of my dire assertion that government has no business in business. Nigeria has had a railway service before, bequeathed by the colonialists. Why don't we ask what happened to it. For this is exactly what will happen to this. The signs are clear... that this is another 'white elephant' that is almost sure to fail in the hands of government. |
internationalman:Word. |
You can see one of the problems clearly stated when the vast majority on this topic do not understand what a vision is, means and entails and why it is a critical tool for development. Not surprising they empower those who are equally ignorant and incapable with power to rule over them and then sit and wonder why there is no progress, why yesterday is always better and why their positive experiences as citizens continue to decline. Without going into detail, those with rudimentary knowledge of survey and optics will understand that the same instruments that are crafted to see far will bring the nearer into sharper focus and the fact that without crafting a destination, travel becomes entirely futile. It is only in this part of the world we live for the present, think selfishly and bequeath nothing to posterity. Soludo has realised that he can only play a small part in the bigger picture. |
God1000:There are no support structures to operate these platforms so they will become expensive burdens within a short while. To procure is not the problem. To operate effectively is. |
Racoon:Eagerly awaiting whoever emerges as the Presidential candidate of the APC and what he or she will say about the government it is hoping to replace. Whether the continuity flag will be flown with the glaring failings we have witnessed the past few years or the 'change' the 'change' mantra, which will be acknowledging the failure of the platform on which he or she stands. In a working democracy the ruling party with all the baggage of an under performing tenure will stand little chance at the polls. But this is not a working democracy we have in Nigeria.... and Nigerians seriously run the risk of reinforcing failure. If the APC wins the next elections it will be clear that we simply do not have visions of a better Nigeria or the knowledge and courage to work one out. |
This is how Russia defends itself from Ukraine's plans to join NATO. This is how you defend yourself against a perceived intention.... Well, history will remember, when Russia begins to reap the whirlwind. It has not yet started. |
EasternSWboyz:If diesel doesn't 'explode', can you enlighten us by what means diesel engines work... |
Again...... hahahahahaha... ![]() What a comedy. |
Elections do have.... very serious consequences. Sorry to say this.... but we said so.... long before the mistake was made. The man just lacks capacity to handle the complexities of this country. So it was in the early eighties, so it is now. The stories our parents told us, the little we were exposed to and experienced then is now confirmed in our prime for a sad fact. |
abobote:Hahahaha.... ![]() |
Hahahahaha....hehehehehehe.....hohohohoho... ![]() Hadn't a good laugh in a long, long while. The pictures alone can stir the dead.... hahaha... ![]() The foreign expats sitting, looking lost, forlon, bemused, perplexed on the tracks.....hahahaha. Wow... what a country.. Are these the famed 'heavenly' infrastructure.... railways to el-dorado for which we have mortgaged the dignity and future generations to penury to achieve....chai. |
Sanchez01:Quite agree. Kroos is fading fast. Those crisp passes, those long range shots are all for the history books. Don't think his contract will be renewed. |
maxiart2:Same here. I left to do other things but just checked in five minutes to the end to meet the shocker of the footy season. Carlo's tactics were not good first half. They were playing PSG's game and tempo. The forward line lacked pace and Marko Ascensio was all over the place. Good thing he was removed together with the equally clumsy and poor quality right back in Dani Cavarjal |
The only thing clear about these serial bottlers is that Mbappe must be totally fed up. Nothing will stop him from joining a 'Real' team.... (pun intended). Haba... 2-0 up, three-quarters of the way in the tie and you still managed to blow it.... ![]() |
Norse36:Carlo's tactics are so, so wrong.... surprising for someone so experienced. Madrid are playing PSG's game and to their tempo. This is not how Madrid plays so I cannot see them getting a goal here. |
temptnow:Says what. I've had light all through today to this very moment. |
Elections do have serious consequences. Do not ever make the mistake of empowering a government you CANNOT control. No one employs or engages assistance he or she cannot direct. |
KOPArespect:Hahahaha..... Indeed elections do have serious consequences and most keen participants do so because their very lives, welfare, dignity and even sanity depends on it. Here we still hang onto sentiment.... which of course have grave consequences. Just a pity that they far outnumber those with a head on their necks with half a brain in it. Next time they come selling their well packaged oppressors, if you have the means.... do give them a dirty slap for me.... I will be grateful. |
