Jaywilzee:Agree with the second para. It is clear Allison is burnt out and needs a rest. He needs a Dubai break to get his head straightened out because that is where the problem is not his skillset. Why City is able to bounce back so quickly is because they have far deeper pockets and their squad today is far renewed and refreshed from what it was last season and the season past but then you can see what has happened to long term campaigners such as Kun Aguero. It is not easy. To sustain a title run in the Premiership today is far beyond the quality of a team's first eleven. Top teams need to be able to 'change the oil' in their engines almost every season and this does not come cheap. |
Theboss100:I like that word 'mastered'. In years gone by you could see teams play the same pattern for years and still amass lots of trophies. Today's Premiership teams are more tactical and adaptive and are quick to antidote managers, teams, formations and key players simply because the quality of coaching across board has improved. That is what brings about the stress and terrible errors top players go through cyclically in the Premiership after previous outstanding performances. It happened to United, Leicester, Chelsea in recent seasons past, City last season, and Liverpool now. Ultra competition wears top players out. |
Angelfrost:I am not a name chaser. I see things in perspectives. There have been many, many successful managers in the English game in different eras of which Sir Alex is one and there will be many to come. What I simply state is clear. The level of competition in the Premierahip today trumps anything seen since it started in 1992 due to many factors of which the influx of top foreign (non English, non British) managers is a principal reason. Even traditionally mid table teams are able to hire great tactifians and serial cuo winnera because the finaceanare there to back them uo with top talent. This simply means the era of running over teams with easy points is over. At the very top it puts enornous strains on clubs to be near oerfect season in and season out just to win the Prem. You will certainly not see the kind of prolonged dominace United under Ferguson experienced. That era is over.... ....And all you folks see is the name Ferguson and you start running for the hills....not surprised though, that is a African thing...idolatry... |
Tamel:My dear, it is not easy. EPL games are like cup finals particularly for those on top. To play the equivalent of two cup finals twice a week will task even the biggest squads. The state of the Premiership today cannot be compared to the times of Sir Alex and Arsene Wenger. Today even traditionally mid table teams such as Everton spot accomplished European gaffers, while master tacticians like Marcelo Bielsa are literaly making bricks without straw in Leeds. The Prem has grown into a terribly tough league. Just look at Jose Mourinho, a serial winner and experienced Prem gaffer reduced to nothing....and more quality coaches are coming next season... When you see what Pool is going through today it screams at you to respect what they achieved over the past three seasons or so. Don't be fooled by City. They have crept into prominence below the radar. Teams will begin to take notice of them once again and believe me next season they will have it hot, hot, grind, grind. |
Reussite:I agree absolutely. |
Tamel:They are all fatigued and mentally spent. It is not easy to defend the title and it is near impossible to meet the standards of last season. Trying to do both has done this team in. |
Game over. City are now odds on. The rest of the Premiership sharks will now leave the blood red cadaver and turn to the light blue bathers in the wild ocean of the EPL. |
But Ndidi is a great player. You just wonder why Nigeria just cannot profit from his abilities. |
The Premiership is brutal....unforgiving, wicked and totally disrespectful of reputation. It will chew you through and spit you out...with all your silver and gold...we just love it. ![]() |
Cryptos will continue to be a threat to nations with weak governing structures and lean, inefficient institutions. Musk bought a boat load and has declared it because he has no choice. He cannot hide it because of strong, multi varied institutuonal checks in the face of overwhelming risks of non disclosure. Strengthen your institutions and the fears will ebb. I personally see a future whereby governments round the world trade in their respective curencies whike citizens conduct their lives in alternative means of exchanges. Central banks the way we know them will have to reform or die out. The world is gradually unifying, not around governments but around the interests of various peoples and groupings, not delineated by flag but by ideology. In future only when I want to pay taxes, levies and other government obligatiins will I buy the Naira or the Dollar or the Yuan. |
DSC7:Shameful is even politically correct...mindless is apt. Is is not civil action that will divert the resources needed to build proper institutional services from those who donot need it to those who suffer inextricably because of mismanagement. Tell me how many expensive SUV's in various convoys will it take to have decent police trucks. Yet sense has not befallen Nigerians including the police itself. Let them continue romancing the rot. |
Symptomatic of Nigeria. Those directly suffering the ills of poor governance are the same that will take sides with and defend their oppressors. Let the pictures be saved for posterity so the whole world knows what is wrong with Nigeria and what virus plagues the minds of her citizens. |
JosephXavier:Protests ARE NOT A THREAT TO GOVERNMENT. They are threats to the individual interests of those in power working at cross purposes to the interests of the larger citizenry. Nigerians MUST wake up to their citizen responsibilities and get educated on what the role of government is in the lives of the citizenry. The vast majority today feel once you empower a bunch of ORDINARY people by way of election you surrender your rights to them completely and give them the mandate to do as they please. That is not democracy. You donot give someone an employment letter to do as he pleases and when you call him or her to order it is not tantamount to a sack. Government can be queried too. It is them who spread false propaganda that every protest is an attempt at regime change. It is them that escalate violence to justify their false, deceptive narrative just because they donot want to correct their ways...and most Nigerians buy into their lies to remain in captivity. The first endSARS has long gone. Can any Nigerian honestly say what FUNDAMENTAL change they have seen in the police services that positions them for better crime prevention and citizen relations going forward. Everything is just superficial showing clearly they are not ready to change and WILL NOT improve. Why will protests not continue in the face of the status quo. How will Nigeria improve if people are not allowed to talk. |
What were they beaten for. Why the use of force. To what end. |
'...should BE ALLOWED'..., The language of domination, the idealism of ownership... the sad tale of Nigeria. |
adekS1:And before unity there is negotiation and before negotiation there are values at stake and before that there is understanding and before understanding there is knowledge snd before knowledge sentiment is long dead.... oga, there is a very long way to go to salvage Nigeria from Nigerians. |
Hmmm....citizen power is making the police occupy lekki toll gate. Great job. |
A bit short on details but this is a good step in the right direction. |
Na so ebola fit start. They should do extensive bloodwork on the victim abeg. Who keeps such animals these days of rampaging pandemics. Folks will never learn. |
Cannot agree more Mr. Utomi. That alphabetical changes cannot and will not rescue Nigeria from destruction. Only restructuring can. Said it for the past two and half decades when I too saw the 'light'. Pity that such an intellectual as yourself did not see this until you 'tasted' it. Which sadly makes me lose more hope as it is clear that the nationals of this country prefer to learn THE HARD WAY. It appears all our intellectualism is practically useless. So sad. |
Poor governance everywhere. Nigerians finding it impossible to sit around a table to talk. Everyone has valid points, valid perspectives, but we just cannot aggregate them and dig for information solutions. Government wants to do a thing and it doea not consult with the people. It just does it and expects immediate tolerance, acceptance and conformity. What does it expect except anarchy. How many times has government 'townhalled' with the people on insecurity. How many times has it attempted to bring herders and farmers round a table to fashion our progress and peace for all parties for instance. None. I say it once again. What is the use of government if it cannot perform its basic role of 'organising society'. We live in Nigeria today as if we are not governed or have no government. |
hotwax:Indeed. A loss of confidence in the law (generic term for the criminal.justice system) will only lead to self help. And sustained self help will only lead to anarchy. |
Tobinrobin:When the authorities CAN NOT or WILL NOT bring out the facts, then speculation is bound to prevail. Government exists for a reason everywhere in the world. In Nigeria you can barely justify why government exists. |
Gerrard59:It is just a matter of time. Time was when coal held sway. In a few years time industry will be penaliaed for coal use and the price will continually sink. Oil will invariably follow. Right now gas is the main thing. Petroleum gas will go before natural gas then water and air will finally be the fuel left. By the way plastics are viewed as an environmental threat as well. By the way fertilizers are gas based products not oil based, chemicals? are made of a diverse number of source elements. |
3 years.... Must be a relatively small one, perhaps a modular design. |
Improve your movement mister and the cold will stay away. That is the only difference between you and Vardy. Your off the ball activity needs to improve. |
Wow. An icon has left the building. RIP. |
Another Chapter to the 'Book'... |
If a transporter refuses to maintain or repair his bus then his business is lost. If the National Assembly refuses to fix a broken legislation then the country is lost, simple. |
noegenesis:Parsley?... that's terrible. Poor meal then. Glass of water pls. I pass. |
The greens on the edge and citrus in the middle. Everything else is bad news. Trust me. Down the line you will pay good money to roll back that legacy. |
Honestly, words fail me...this is just terrible...hiw can this happen to a whole country... |
