knightsTempler:Feudalism has deep roots in Nigeria my brother. Developmemt will remain a mirage. If not I cannot understand how flogging a renegade servant amounts to misbehaviour knowing our deep seated African traditions in which we chastise those we have authority and responsibility over. What is a crime here is servants riding while masters trek. Every single individual that has responded to this incident should examine himself closely and realise how near or far he is away from being a failed citizen if he or she has any sympathy whatsoever for a group of people that have presided over their poverty, depravity, loss and and a lifetime of calamity. Even Mr. Ekeweremadu's family members should be silent and circumspect not to talk of a citizen who is at the wrong end of serial misrule. I simply cannot understand the fuss about this and am mystified anyone but his colleagues and fellow brigands will see anything syramge and unfortunate about this. It happened in a society that works. As a matter of fact if the German police knew and understood the context even they will have stood back and cheered. Any citizen that sympathizes with that politician is simply unfit for a better country. That is the hard truth. |
Babzrockman:He was long before the Nations Cup in football circles. He wasn't featured much. He merely presented what many already knew about him. |
saajus:Because there defence lawyers are razor sharp. Without water tight evidence no one will be jailed. Civil liberties are taken seriously to a fault. Not like here where everything is politicised courtesy of feudalism. |
Charleys:I haven't.... but I can venture and will say this. Public office doesn't only confer the bearer with a whole lot of benefits both deserved and undeserved but it also accords the bearer with a lot and a deep sense of responsibility both deserved and undeserved. What has happened in the past till now is that the citizenry have accorded far too much benefits and very little responsibility on these people that such menacingly huge imbalance is bound to break with surprising consequences to a of people. The feudal nature of the socio-political clime has been taken for granted by those privileged to be on the side of authority that the enslaved citizens are stupefied that a slave can answer back to a master let alone assault him. What I personally look at is not the predictable reactions of feudal overlords, his mates and collegues, but the unfortunate reactions of the common man who have sympathy for folks who care very little about their existence. Ask Nancy Pelosi, ask Boris Johnson what they have seen and heard and felt in public..... nations and leaders that at least have an iota of responsibility to those they serve.... we have not even started to exist as citizens.... |
Naa....this Chelsea team is just too wide open. They will conceed a truckload of goals this season. The big queation is.... will Tammy and Giroud outscore every opponent? |
xynerise:....and collected it back. Check my posts, once again: GREAT ATTACKS WIN MATCHES, GREAT DEFENCES WIN TROPHIES. Mr. Lampard like all British managers disregard the value of defending. To have a greenhorn British manager is double jeopardy. Mr. Lampard cannot afford to go gung-ho in every match just to please a certain section that wants so called 'attractive' attacking football for 90 minutes. His defence let him down against United, Liverpool and now in the second half they are being penetrated with relative ease. Chelsea will win nothing with this philosophy. |
My question is simple. Why has the so called anti corruption crusade not dissuaded incidents like these at the very highest levels of government. Why are we still hearing sad tales like these regularly. Can anyone answer and perhaps help this government.... |
Collections will be worse because the economy is worse. What does Mr. Kyari expect. Typically of them to protect their boss who is far more influential and far more complicit in the total mess the economy has become. |
Ndidi thinks he is still playing Nations Cup where African footballers take three hours to make a pass to showcase their dour, pride full game play. |
Criminals. |
midolian:Yes, absolve the President, criticise the Senator... it obviously tickles your racist bone. |
euromilion:You had better repair your degenerate mindset, for your own good or your end will be a sad tale. It is a malfunctioning thought process that leads to criminality. |
Mummymahdi:So in the future if the APC gets voted out of power and sees maladministration as the opposition it shoukd say jothing because individuals now are corrupt. My dear, sorry to say but you are very ignorant. And I keep on saying this. An ignorant citizen cannot expect a government better than that which he or she understands. The problem ultimately is that of the citizens not the government. The government merely cooks the meals the citizens order. Were elements in the ACN and CPC not corrupt from Lagos state to Zamfara before the party came to power as the APC. Did they not criticise the PDP then. What made you vote them in. |
GlobalWay:With all the preachimg you still sell visas for a living. Why will anyone looking forward seek a visa.... or is there something I simply cannot understand. Isn't it suspect to have a restaurant set up besides a pharmacy.... |
Okoroawusa:Your history is obviously dodgy and the realities are a bit far from the truth. In the first place it is the Indigenization policy of the Murtala administration that started the exodus of foreign interests in Nigerian industry. In the heydays of apartheid everything foreign was labelled colonialist, racist, fascist and they were nationalised or subtantially indigenised with obvious consequences. Bythe time IBB came to power it was all gone. Industries that were lost during his regime were purely resulting from economic factors primarily due to the weakening of the purchasing power of the average Nigerian. Also my take on the other economic missteps is simple. Yes he weakened the naira. This was to reduce the stress on the foreign exchange market which in princiole is to discourage imports and spur local industry but he failed to realise that the average Nigerian is lazy and prefers a quick ride to prosperity and so will not make anything he needs. This hasn't changed till today. We are still poor, lazy and an unproductive nation of people who live far beyond their means. You cannot blame IBB alone for a cultural position. |
Once again, a system that creates 'no choice' on the ballot simply cannot be right. Friends, the only way to put an end to failed people getting on the ballot is to restructure.... to change the way the game is played if not, heads or tails, Nigeria will always lose. |
MachadoPreto:The recession is global and is cauded by a myriad of things not just the trade war. The EU led by Germany is almost in recession, the UK caused by Brexit is almost in recession, China has experienced a slow down caused the trade war. It is multifaceted. So don't describe the elephant like a walrus because you love long tusks. |
Another nonsense talk aimed at distracting Nigerians from more serious matters of state. You say 'trillions of naira' (the usual speculative eye catching headlines) , but the only substance on offer is pehaps 12 billion lost by banks. Now we have seen the four and a half years of the corruption war and what benefit it has or has not brought Nigeria I think it is time to face the facts and face the real challenges facing Nigeria which I repeat again centre around the way Nigeria is constituted and consequently the way it operates. Just this morning on the wires in Calabar the governor is crying out. The government at the outset of its administration sung out a policy of 'buy Nigeria' and he moved (inspired he called it) set up a garment industry. All the fanfare has died down, all the promises of patronage by Nigerian institutions... dead. Then the widely publicised green revolution came and once again he inveated massively in rice production, not even products but seedlings.... once again a no show....no patronage and on he went. Yesterday the Senate in effect turned down offerings from Innoson claiming the quality of their vehicles were not up to standard. These are the things that directly affect the prospects of Nigeria as a country that seeks to move forward. It means that even if power becomes 100 percent stable, even if all the roads are motorable and infrastructure becomes first rate and crime falls to zero.... Nigerians will still prefer to build hotels and he youth sing songs and make musical videos that do the things that liberqte the mass of citizens from poverty which is industrialization. You then ask yourself why. Why is it that Nigerians just cannot invest time and energy in bricks and mortar ideologies instead of fast, fleeting, briefcase enterprises. Why few Nigerians have foresight. The answer lies in the culture of uncertainty, mental insecurity that is a product of a weak concept of nationhood. The vast ,aajority of Nigerians living in Nigeria simply donot feel at home with this country due to structural imbalances that disengages them from ownership of not only this country but its ideals. They feel they habe no control of the future so they invest short. They feel this country belongs to someone else and the constant fight and angst to have a foothold will not permit long term (cross generational) investment. Short termism is the ideal medium for corruption to fester and the right way to reverse all this is to seriously consider restructuring Nigeria. |
chelseamann:....hmmm. Nigerians and irresponsibility. So who decides.... FIFA.... UEFA....VAR....the technical director or Roman himself....abeg... |
Lampard should not have put a 21 year old to take the last penalty in the in the finals of a Euro Cup. Who does that. That is extreme naivety. Greenhorn coach and greenhorn player. What do you expect. He was warned by Mourinho. |
The Chelsea game play (with the ball) was better yesterday but their defence remains poor which is typical of English managers. If you can out gun opponents it will win you matches but like the old saying goes, it is defence that wins trophies. Lampard should pay more attention to tactics. He is surrounded by an abundance of European managers who are generally more tactically averse and play the game to win, not just to score. The two games so far has revealed a certain degree of naivety. The Premiership is not the Championship. |
Chelsea has done well and has reduced the gap on the titlists in Liverpool but Mr. Lampard no dey hear word. He was warned about this his 'youth' crusade. He won't listen and it backfired big time in the shootout. When the rubber meets the road there is just no substitute for experience. Tammy Abraham is league material not European Cup finals material yet. You donot build competence and confidence by thrusting youth into the fire, you ease them in. Now if care is not taken his confidence will be damaged. |
....sure, with his tail between his legs. His legacy is gradually collapsing around him. Who Real Madrid needed was a certain Jose Mourinho...not to win trophies but to build the chassis of a new team which he is good at. Real Madrid needs an ultra strong character at the reins. |
Liverpool looks worn out. They have played way too much footy. Diminishing returns is certain. |
freshMallam1122:The simple question to folks like you is: what do you do if you sack an employee for all the sins say, listed by the APC in 2014 and by 2019 essentially nothing has changed.... the new man just continues in them. As a thriving business owner, what do you do... You guys are not bothered a bit what the future holds for this country... as long as your primordial sentiments are satisfied the country can crash and burn... Why then are you guys often up in arms when others want out of this situation... out of this country that doesn't seem to get better. Even cerebral folks closely associated with this government like the Vice- President have lately gone silent... They know things are bad and sliding to worse. |
These donot reflect the present position of infrastructure in Abia state as a number of these claims reflect work done over past administrations. Thise secretariat and government house structures for instance were projects initaited during the TA Orji regime and are at various stages of abandonment and use. The general consensus in Abia is that infrastructure is in very poor shape and various works presently undertaken are moving at a very slow pace. It appears the government is struggling with funding/revenue issues. Why this is has its roots deep in past administrations but the present one doesn't appear to be able to find a viable solution and is bent on hiding the true state of the State's finances. |
If you donot have 75,000 you should not be travelling out. The only thing you can bring to Nigeria is disrepute. |
This is what you get when the military is involved in internal security. Why are soldiers at checkpoints within the country in the first place. This is wrong. The military should be deployed to locations and areas which are active conflict zones alone, i.e. war zones. These locations are and should be void of the civilian population in the first place so these conflicts should not happen. The way internal security goes is that If the government finds that crimes are escalating beyond the capability of the police in terms of spread and numbers it then increases the number of policemen and cuts down the number of military men to balance the security budget. If there is an increase in intensity of crimes then there is a 'militarised wing' of the police force(incidentally insignia bears wings' which is the mobile police who are better armed and better trained to handle higher intensity operations. So you match intensity with intensity by increasing equipment and training. You donot match intensity of insecurity by deploying the military and downgrading the police. The police is not subservient to the military. They are trained to handle civil matters and are trained to interface with ordinary citizens and with the criminal justice system to which the military is not. We should stop using the military in non conflict, pure civilian areas. If an area is technically engulfed in war then the necessary steps should be taken by the national assembly to declare martial law, the civilains moved out and the insurgents engaged. When such operations are completed the same National Assembly should reinstate civil authority and civil law enforcement. That is how sane, progressive countries organise themselves. No reasonable government will bring the police and military in open conflict with one another sharing the same responsibilities of security on the same patch of ground. These are the reasons why. Lives would be lost needlessly. The government should wake up. |
Asphaltic laid roads can never work there even if they are layered with membranes and rock fill. They should borrow a page from Dave Umahi's playbook and just concrete it in. |
She may be good at making money but she doesn't come across as particularly bright and circumspect in her thinking. Anyway those positions have never been cousins. |
1shortblackboy:He has no expectations of those he queued in the hot sun to vote in.... He has employed a security guard who he pays a fortune and yet his house gets robbed. Guess what, he joins his inept security guard in berating the robbers and robbery in general.... that is the lot of the average citizen and the bread and butter of sycophants... |
May all the evil and corrupt politicians sponsoring some bastards to perpetrate violence all over our darling nation , just to make our nation unruly, never know peace all the rest of their miserable lives. Along with all those supporting them. May every good things in life be far from them and their household. Painful death awaits them all. They can never escape it. So shall it be. Nigeria will win this war brought upon our country by evil and bastard presidents/leaders.
Oga. Any sensible citizen will direct angst against those who are in a position to do something about it. Not those who donot care one bit. Tell me if you are being robbed will you dial '911' for rescue or dial the headquarters of the gang to plead for mercy and reprieve. You have the situation completely upside down die to sentiment. If you are killed in the act of robbery will your folks blame the police for failing to show up or the robbers eh.... this is an acid test for citizenship... who will you blame... If you cannot as much as hold to account those you have employed to serve you your ranting is just plain silly and in vain I'm afraid. Democracy is all about accuntability. What you and your ilk are doing is absolving those you elect of any resposibillity for the votes given them, it is propping failure. If all citizens think and act like this the government will go completely to sleep. Only oressure against it will bring solutions and the desire to work. You mister are a failed citizen. You donot know your responsibility one bit. Support them for election all you want but when they are empowerd for heavens sake demand performance. What in the world is your vote for if they cannot perform.... wasted. Wake up man. |
