... every part of her anatomy will come under attack from the blast of the whistle. Is it not those uncouth, unruly hooligans from English soccer again... |
Oyedepo said so much in the past and was told in no uncertain terms to shut it. Guess everyone else has conveniently seperated Church from State in the aftermath . I think it is Nigerians who should decide what they want. Don't blame these pastors. When they do they are damned, when they don't it doesn't seem to please folks either. |
So bandits now use RPG's. OP, a RPG is is a weapon used against mass troops when fitted with a frag warhead or against armour or hardened defences with a conventional HEAT or squash warhead. It is a serious piece of war kit. These find no applications in the hands of bandits. Bandits donot prepare to engage with this sort of fire power. These folks are on a war status. Let us call it/them for what they are, insurgents. There is a low level armed conflict going on in the middle of Nigeria. It is no longer restricted to the north-east. |
Parents imbibe values in your children. They are more than capable of taking care of themselves if the right software is installed in their minds and hearts. |
So what. Is it a crime to set your prices and standards. Nigerians do not want to pay for anything so they have nothing. The same mentality that scorns this is the same mentality that multiplies thè number of women selling corn by the road side for peanuts (no pun intended). If you cannot connect the dots then you have no hope. I simply cannot accept a situation where the economy keeps on sinking, the purchasing power of Nigerians eroding year on year and instead of fighting to turn around the situation we fight to justify it and manage it that way. My first salary was N212 a month and in six months I had a fully furnished house and robust savings. It can barely buy half that corn. Is that the fault of Shoprite. Continue complaining and don't do what the citizens of other nations do. Let us see how low we can go and how poor we can get before our senses kick in. The 500 naira corn is a clear indicator as to how far we have fallen behind the rest of humanity and the plethora of reactions is a clear reason why. |
I just wish it isn't true...just don't know what to say....honestly |
mrkings84:Light airplanes don't have doors... */;'?*$÷× .... ..., mbok how light is an aircraft not to need doors. |
horlique:Abi oh.... Popeye biceps and barrel chests with mosquito legs is hip replacement in the making.... Arsenal has never had a problem going forward and scoring goals since Wenger came to England. It is the back line that has deteriorated steadily since the great Tony Adams and Co. took a bow. |
.... so freaking hilarious hahahahaha... but this not fair way to recruit na.... hahahahahaha..... The 'undead' should habe told him to... 'just take a bow'....hahahahaha... |
nextstep:We are yet to translate education and the truckloads of degree certificates churned out each year into what I call 'professional culture' where we think, eat and sleep the nuts and bolts of the courses we read. Education is supposed to enhance man and his environment not just a means to a meal ticket. While the only thing we can question about the project is the cost, very few are able to question the competence because it is 'way over our heads' and these expatriates know this so they donot give us value for money. River Niger is the River Thames or the Mississippi of Nigeria and the Onitsha crossing is the busiest section. It should have a landmark crossing, one that makes a statement, one that generates tourist dollars, one that you can put on the cover of a 'Come Visit Nigeria', one that countless movies would be staged on... honestly we.... are just third world.... ![]() We are just struggling to survive and haven't started living... it is all so uninspiring but at least we are grateful it is being done. But spare a thought for the fact that the three most picturesque bridges, the Ikoyi-Lekki link, the Abak gorge bridge in Akwa Ibom and the Kofar Mata triple interchange in Kano were built by state governments and somewhat in record time without a hint of noise. Does it not show that States can actually perform better than the Federal government if given the impetus by a restructuring drive of this country that puts resources and the means of resource drive in their hands and makes them compete amongst themselves... is it not the great Fashola that built the beautiful partial cable stayed bridge in Lagos that is presiding over this concrete monstrosity.... Something is wrong in this country. And I tell you what....LIBERTY. When people can take independent decisions they are more creative, more productive and more competitive. The decisions Fashola took in Lagos he cannot do in Abuja. His performances now are an averaging out of his support groupings and directives from above which puts him in a position far below his competencies. This is the tragedy of Nigeria. |
I simply have no comment on this event. |
NaijaOlosho:I doubt if it was planned. The heist must have been at the spur of the moment. No one who intends to move such an amount will notify anyone antime well in advance. They had done it before so knew what it was but probably did not know 'when'. Anyway N400 million in cash outside financial institutions cannot be legitimate activity. To involve the military means such activities are sanctioned at the very top. The top that keeps toying with the psyche of Nigerians about a phantom anti corruption crusade. |
Been a while since I was in Zaria but the sculpture garden brings back wonderful memories of years gone by.... . Since leaving the military I've had no reason to be in Kaduna state but sure enjoyed my time there through all the trainings.... seen all and done it all in this crazy country. I'vI've lived my dream.... done it all. |
nextstep:Clever by half. If the river 'swells' as you say then wouldn't it be reasonable just to span over it. Oga, the truth is that what you see is the cheapest form of construction. We just donot have the resources for more elaborate and eye catching engineering and infrastructure masterpieces. Not just bridges but airports, interchanges, multirise buildings, etc. And when I say resources, I don't mean money, I mean know how from conception to project management, infrastructure financing, industry support. We simply donot have the capacity to think things and do things. Wr are like a baby which must eat banana flavoured puree for breakfast everyday wothout question since we donot know where the kitchen is. Do these multinational companies give us banana flavoured puree at the price of a three course breakfast. Just go to Akwa Ibom and see what Julius Berger was 'forced' to do by folks who thought, 'hey must all bridges look alike....' Side Note: If Akpabio could be made Minister of Works I thonk we will probably get better deals from these multinationals. The man knows quality. |
Mynd44:Who said so. A bridge is the cheapest structure that can be built across a body of water particularly one that is moving. What he is asking is for an abutment which is like the toy version of a dam. Across a moving body of water and against sedimentary loads it will need ten times the amount of bulk as a bridge to theoreticaaly keep still or ten times the number of piles to prevent it topling over. Then you consider maritime traffic. What they build is a typical third world bridge, piers and decks only, cheap, fast and safe for their sorry arses. Then they charge you a world class bill and take home the bacon because al you know is kilishi or roundabout. I bet all the real design work on that bridge is in the foundations. The rest of it has sat in Julius Bergers design offices since 1973 waiting for the next project. What I am seeing looks exactly like the Murtala Mohammed bridge in Ajaokuta, Kogi state. Well, beggars cannot be choosers. |
MurderX:The River Niger will never be open to blue water vessels if that is what you are thinking. Most tropical rivers are not due to the topography and geology that makes them prone to silting. The bridge decks are however high enough to take most white water crafts. I hope to use it in a couple of years for logistics if I can overcome some serious administrative hurdles. Hopefully rhe bridge will be done by then. |
Fantastic effort. Good one from the government. Is there provision for the addition of a rail line in tandem to save time and costs in future. |
The world is going solar electric. Chevron is cutting loose. Be there hanging on to a sinking ship. |
Chelsea is looking good.... in pre-season.... with emphasis.... |
Hmmm.... tremendous risk. Argentine players are in two distinct categories, the incredibly skilled and competent players and the incredibly lazy, overhyped primadonas who just donot fit into the work ethic of ultra competitive leagues such as the Premiership. They hardly succeed in England. More woes than wows over the years. I have this gut feeling Mr. Dybala is cut from the same cloth as a certain Mr. Spook who now plies his trade for PSG, plenty of fizz but nothing more of the resilience and work ethic United is known for. Quite frankly the red side of Manchester has not had much luck with Argentines. Could it just be that the Argentine jersey pays a close similarity to that of the other side of the City....and it works for them. |
I totally agree with you sir....to continue in this mess must be better abi. They never profer any solution but continue shutting the doors of anyone seeking something better. Crab mentality. |
It is so hard to belive that this government repla ed another on the basis of competence.... shameful. Its a pity we donot have serious political opposition. Can the people see why it is absolutely necessary to have a functional and vibrant multiparty democracy. Can we now see why it necessary to have strong institutions not strong men. Because when the strong men fail.... what do the people do. We as a people are learning the lessons of life the very hard way. It will be tragic to continue in this stead. Shun sentiments. It is killing this country. |
Mediocrity everywhere. When you advertise a job vacancy and the job description is not there what do you call such an organisation....of course, |
Hasn't aged well in its looks. Together with the Lexus series, I just cannot understand what inspires the design team. Great piece of engineering anyway. |
In an unproductive society void of drivers of positive interests and exploits amongst her youth these things are bound to abound. We need a change in the way this country runs. |
MrMou:Abia state and Lagos state are exactly alike in terms of politics and its effects on development. Both are seriously behind the curve. |
EPIJOE:Told you folks. The Island and Lekki has no viable long term future. The sea is coming and from an engineering perspective will continue to alter the gradient of any drainage system rendering them less effective year on year until there is a net back flow. In a few decades it will only be Dangote's refinery that will be left standing on an island and that will be because he will have enough resources to keep the ocean away. The planet is heating up drastically and the effects are more water in the oceans and more water vapour in the air aka rainfall potentials. Personally my lungs are sensitive to humidity and I can tell you it has never been this bad before. There is excessive moisture everywhere. |
Hmmm...he actually thinks money is left on the floor or perhaps in the flower pot for him just pick it up.... |
Rubber stamp. What examination is conducted where everyone is passed. What was the point of the whole exercise. Just wasting time and resources on this mediocre drama. |
Violent crime has escalated to such teriible levels that I think we ought to introduce the 'Sheriff system' of law enforcement in parts of Nigeria. |
Cultists here are apprentices before Latin American gangs. There jail time and death sentences are synonymous. |
Lukaku is an average player....a one dimensional player read as easily as nursery rhymes by opposing defenders. Can't see him making hay in Italy. |
