None. Money is a means of exchange that puts a value on goods and/or services. If no goods are presented, no services rendered and no value is created then what is the basis of exchange. What is money doing there. Nigerians must learn how to live right. |
wink2015:That is why I have very little interest in travelling anywhere for any purpose and I have very little respect for those who aspire to. I am still old school to the fact that the excellence that brings advancement and prosperity is not locational. If you have it in you it is the whites who will bring it literaly to your bedroom. There remains enormous untapped opportunity in Nigeria for everything that concerns life and living. As they say, it is only a matter of trying. Every passing day and every lurid story proves my theory right. A lizard in Nigeria will never become an alligator in the swamps of Louisiana. |
chelsea1116:But he is asking for donations. Is there any difference. Why can't he turn water to wine. It is obvious you are not very bright to the understanding that substance is needed to do the work of the gospel. So whether its is done by taxation within the church aka 'tithe' or grants from without the church, 'donations', it amounts to the same use and purpose which is to build the church, simple. There are ministries that will do what he is doing without asking for donations because they have evolved a strong system of taxation within their ranks. Most Pentecostal Ministries donot solicit donations from without because they understand the gospel of prosperity in other ways. They build from within. |
Duggedised12:By this you are likely to simply because if you can believe bad behaved children are 'given' not 'made', what incentive will you have to raise up your children properly to avoid them going rogue. Every human being is born without software. The moment a child is born it begins to load software and at 18 years of age it us 100 percent loaded. At 13 years of age and 80 percent of the software loaded the child begins to run peripherals and then it is too late to abort and reprogramme. So if you sit there idly, by 13 years you are done. You child will give you continuous problems till your grave. If you are not married and donit have children I seriously suggest you leave Big Brother and Telemundo, gather books and start reading on how to live a stress free, embarassment free life as far as children are concerned. |
Going, going... his career that is. I said it was not a good move. |
seunmsg:'...you must come up...'. kai Nigeria..... its just a pity... |
That is why you carry people along. What was the basis for the appointment, no one knows. So from where I sit I cannot stand for either the protesters or the government simply because there is a disconnect. Both sides are not talking so there is bound to be misunderstanding. |
mrvitalis:Read my subsequent post. I will really like to expound on it but... duty calls, perhaps later in the day. |
ornicus:Okay, I see the drift here. It appears the definition of middle class here is somewhere around economic status., the kind of job one is engaged in and probably ones earnings there of, or whether its is white collar, blue collar stuff. To me that is a bit narrow, subjective and fluid because one can earn a million in this country this year and 10,000 the next year. One can be a high flying banker today and be on the streets quite literally tomorrow. I have in mind a more permanent classification of society by ideology, the way a group of people are organised amongst themselves and relate with the other bodies as a whole. These classes donot differ over time, race, economic status and creed. They differ in the way they think a nation operates and what that nation serves. In effect they differ in the way for instance they see country like Nigeria work and they tend to conduct themselves in that light. Thus is the broadest terms possible and in the fewest words possible I view the Upper class as those who 'Exploit', the middle class as those who 'Make' and the lower class as those who 'Opportune'. So it is clear Nigeria is presently a duo-poly, a nation of exploiters and opportunists. There are very, very few people in society to/that make things work. It is not an economic position, it is not a bank balance, it is an ideology. There will be rich exploiters and rich opportunists, as there will be unfortunate exploiters and unfortunate opportunits as there are rich middle class folks and not so rich middle class folks everywhere in the world. |
mrvitalis:This is totally wrong. The first victims of an imploding nation are its middle class. The middle class in the true sense of the word does not really exist anymore in Nigeria. We effectively lost our middle class during the military regime of Ibrahim Babangida. What exists presently is a duo poly. Rich or poor, ignorant or enlightened, power and peons... and so on. I mean you cannot have a middle class and so called democracy works like this. It is just not possible. The middle class is the engine room of democracy. It either exists or not in its effects in driving the narrative prevalent in a nation. |
Jaqenhghar:Please don't laugh at yourself. Power is an ultra long term, intensive investment sector that has as its core a need to prove there exists a market. Right now a viable market does not exist in Nigeria. Nigeria needs to prove it can afford electricity. To the lay man, if Aunty Chichi is to invest in the Isi-Ewu business she needs to understand that she not only needs an abundant supply of affordable, well endowed and cerebral goats but more importantly in the Nigeria of today she has to ensure that her joint is at thè crossroads of the lazy, dilinquent customer who has a lot of free money to burn. Such, she will not locate her joint near where the folks either cannot afford it or are too busy to indulge. If she insists she will go bankrupt. Power us a little bit more serious than that. Power infrastructure is prohibitively expensive. There are no bricks and mortar elements here. Everything about power is about metals, fuels and semiconductor integrated circuits. Metals are just crazy in the Nigerian market right now, fuels are no longer produced in Nigeria no thanks to our moribund refineries, gas investment is shrinking no thanks to tupsy-turvy government policies and electronics are very expensive despite China due to the value of the naira. P You go through all that and at the end the Nigerian customer aka Mr. Common Man says he won't pay....hmmm. I think the problem Nigerians have is that they see far too many personal generating sets and think the goat in their backyard equates to a tasty pot of IIsi-ewu.... |
wirinet:A more serious government will incentify the establishment of an alternative power industry including green energy. I donot agree with simply making imports cheaper. It doesn't help on the long run. |
SoNature:I donot think that is true. From the provider stand point, stable electricity cuts down on a lot of incidental expenses the savings of which can be passed on to the consumer. |
Came4amod:Wow.... where did you learn your structural engineering from... kai Nigerians... ... |
Hmmm.... jollof rice.... the french fries of Nigeria. Totally unappealing, terribly unhealthy and memtally debilitating. It is the delicacy of everyone who doesn't know what good food is. I will not stop fighting the set of so called Nigeria foods because I believe no one is doing anything to raise the bar. In my short years on earth I have observed that the food industry to be one of the most static. Been eating the same things for decades. Nothing new. Same ol, same ol fish and chips. |
Clint26:In a number of years you will have seen how foolishly you have wasted your time and your mental faculty on things that have no bearing on your future and will wish to redeem the time. Even women are beginning to realise the futility in investing in things that have no long term value. Nature has given you the opportunity to hide yourself and apply your mind to creative, inventive, progressive ventures that will put you on top of humanity but it appears you rather wish to roam about town spotting a hairline that probably has not made you a penny or dropped a single sliver of inspiration in your heart. Don't waste your time young man. Focus on the things that are important in life. |
seborrhic:Don't mind them. You see well educated, supposedly brilliant young men and women say this bull after electing half literate, lazy, self-centered, unrepentant bigots as leaders: '.... we hope they can develop this country and take us to eldorado'. ... and I'm like.... how can a senile human being HOPE on another less endowed than him to raise him to the level he himself has never and can never attain. Folks, is there a greater fraud going on than empty political promises. That is not how democracies work for the people. Democracy works by direction and impetus. Leaders are given directions by the people and a kick up their ass to do stuff. That is how it is done in the US, in Japan, in Korea, in the United Kingdom, in Ukraine, in Brazil, in India, in Germany. Leaders there are held in continous suspicion and overiding contempt, just as you treat a recalcitrant servant who stubbornly does what you do not like. Here indolent citizens will slurp at the backsides of politicians in glee till their tongues turn brown and their tommies run with dysentry, yet will want more.... retarded citizens they are... |
You can see. There is no consensus on how to move forward in this country. You can imagine citizens preventing law men from investigating those who lead them with nose chains like cattle. I repeat again. No three Nigerians agree on anything positive and progressive. We the citizens are directly responsible for the tragedy this country has become. By what authority do these brigands have to demand for better governance from anyone in power in the future. May they swim in the troubles they stir with the laddle of sentiment. |
Angelfrost:My dear you donot need to go far. Just collate all the posts from page one till this topic dies. If you have the time read and dissect through every single one of them thoughtfully.... you will get to understand exactly what I am saying, tje pervasive mindset and why this country and indeed the black race in a different degree will just not move forward. It is crystal clear. |
ignis:Excuse me. Those who crawl through deserts only to confront gun totting wild beasts at the end, who sell them for pennies are not exactly on drugs. Where is the courage and endurance of those who clamber onto life rafts to sail a hundred miles with just a water bottle just on thd of hope.... where did they such temerity from.... When will the average Nigerian citizen simply say enough is enough. |
Angelfrost:Divisions have existed in the DNA of the black man since biblical times. The whites read their scriptures well, knew this and so it was easy to lead us off in chains to cultivate sugarcane in the West Indies and build the empires we see today. Why it still persists 50 years after independence and a hundred years after slavery iis a modern day mystery. No ten black men agree on anything, no five Africans can form a consensus on development, no three Nigerians can locate the exit in a bright , well lit room. Its that bad. |
That's the truth. The citizens are just too ignorant and docile to have such 'dangerous societies' . They rather crawl under a rock and die or jump off a bridge while their oppressors cruise by in their armoured limousines without even a cursory glance. She is absolutely correct. Nigeria is made this way by her citizens, by the so called common man. Just reading the responses so far... few are logical, some are supportive, others are just comedic.... there is no consensus on how this country can move forward. Nobody seems know or care.... that is why it is safe for everything wrong, disorderly and despicable. I bet she can stand in any market place and say this with a megaphone and nothing will happen. The onlookers will rather fight each other while she looks on. |
Stupid point of view. As if 'attack recalcitrant politicians' is written on anyone's forehead. You can run away from the citizens you dip in misery but you cannot hide forever. You will inevitably come out to campaign and in the coming elections you lot will need all the guns in this world for protection. Nigeria will get it right eventually.... just continue stoking the embers of revolution you miserable lot. |
Abba Kyari is presently looking for a rock to crawl under....as it becomes clear to the blind that his boss has wrecked the economy completely. I thought after the much trumpeted war against corruption our GDP will erupt like the infamous Mount Krakatoa.... spewing hot lava of untold riches.... instead and unfortunately its raining only ashes in Nigeria these days....sorry Mr. Kyari, no rocks.... just ashes. |
In this setup, corruption can never end. It will be one scandal after another until Nigerians are thoroughly fed up and act like responsible citizens and hold their leaders to account. But my guess is she will fall through the cracks of ethno-religious bigotry and the status-quo will win..... unfortunately. |
Sketchee2:Exactly how good these leaders are should reflect on the fortunes of the people. Exactly what else is the function of a Senator, Representative or MP. They are to represent. If as a father your children go hungry and derilict what is there to commend you for. Remove this feudalism from your psyche and see these people as servants not rock stars. They were not begged to stand on behalf of the people. He was in the Senate a good 20 years and earned close to a billion naira over that period and you have the to question those who dare call him to account. Okay let us hear his response at to why he should not be flogged. Let him reel out his performances and the positive impact to his constituency. We Nigerians are just too docile and it reflects in the free fall of every index of life and living. What do these people do to receive any iota of praise. |
oluwamile:That sounds a bit too much if the parts are indeed sourced onshore. More investment is needed to drive that price down. |
The threat has gone out. Whether anyone likes it is irrelevant. If it makes a certain set of people uncomfortable and circumspect it has achieved its aims. At least someone is responding to the fact that things simply cannot continue this way. What is maverick and unusual today will become common place tomorrow. If the politicians defended by ignorant Nigerians today are worthy of public protection why can't they organise the protection of the common man from everything evil society has to offer. I have no pity whatsoever for them. No one is forced into public service. In other climes with far better prospects politicians are hated and treated with abject contempt when the mess up. Thise in Nigeria are shielded by the same long suffering masses who haven't a hope in hell. Nothing has ideologically and fundamentally improved in Nigeria since independence. Evey index of life continues to slide with the passage of time and someone expects me to be elastic enough to absorb all the wrongs and ills and still hail those who persist in drving down the cotizens to the mud of despair and despondency. I am knowledgeable to know that I am certainly not a slave, not mentally or physically. I have no sympathy for them whatsoever. |
SillyMods:Stop this tribal nonsense and face the facts. Your country is collapsing all around you and this is all you have to say... Is there anything that will make you focus on what matters to your life and existence as a citizen of this country before its empties and only you remains here. These trivial, childish bickerings and divisions are what these people hope you continue while they do damage in a more organised detribalised manner. I have seen no greater folly. Is there any level of suffering that can unite this country to one single cause.....so sad. |
Which is the day....when Nigerians will make political office a dangerous, tension soaked ride for those who have no intention to serve but to hurt those who give them the privilege to serve. When will Nigerians make political office too expensive for jokers, thieves and brigands. When will Nigerians stop committing suicide, degrading themselves.... swimming across oceans and crawling through deserts instead of standing up to people they call servants..... If you are overseas and fled this country because it is next to hell and still sympathize with these politicians.... I simply have no words for you. |
