Certificates are not enough. Success is a product of vision. From Marconi the father of wireless communication, to the authors of the world wide web, to the inventors of the very mobile devices used to view his sorry ass toiling away with cement, Africa always has its priorities in a twist. |
Hmmm ....interesting... |
Our Vietnam and Afghanistan war rolled into one. What a tragedy. |
Firefire:Oga. Don't mistaken job creation for job provision. Government appointments are not created, they are given. Creation means making something from nothing. It is a function of ideas that germinate to economic activity that brings prosperity by growth and tangible goods and services.. Jobs that are created add value to a community, state or country's GDP. Government provided jobs on the other hand are a burden on everyone. It has scant direct bearing on the economy, it is often at the expenses of other pressing capital needs and does nothing to the GDP. The seeds of job creation are domicilled in the private sector. Government only provides the 'land', the conducive environment on which the seeds are planted by good, dynamic and positive policy and legislation. Like you indicated, government has made millions jobless. That is correct but it did not serve them termination letters but by flooding the land with water or denying the land rain the seeds of enterprise have rotted and the green plantation of economic activity dried up. We don't need the peace corps to reverse that. All government needs to do is reverse its hostile policies and liberalise even more and the millions of jobs will be recreated. By the peace corps in a few years they will be consuming budgetary sums in hundreds of billions that you and me will pay for via increased taxes, levies and rates and a whole lot less for roads, hospitals and schools. |
Totally agree. It is an unnecessary burden on tax payers for absolutely nothing in return and no sane Nigerian should support yet another organisation that will oppress them in the future with colonial 'mentalisation'. Moreover we should be devolving powers and authority to states and communities especially in the field of security and conflict resolution where the so called 'peace corps' wants to play. We are sick and tired of an unwieldy, overbearing federal government. The bill I wish to see is that for the establishment of state and county (local government) policing, and armed private security services. |
1zynnvn:Is it his responsibility to build infrastructure. How far can the amount for constituency projects go. Abeg siddon. Continue protecting the failures of the executive. |
So angry about this situation. These are poor, educationally disadvantaged people in a region where girls are at the bottom of the ladder of social privilege. Who with good conscience will like to make the financial sacrifice to send his daughter to boarding school. And if these girls are not educated there is no hope whatsoever that the society will improve. I have said it countless times. No military force can supress an ideologically driven anti-social movement. The only way out is by negotiation or erosion of such idelogies by internal subversion. But will the authorities listen? This is fast becoming our own Vietnam war we simply cannot win no matter how much blood and treasure we sacrifice. We needs honest, dynamic ideas here. What the hell is the function of the Nigerian Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies. Whare are the various policy think tanks. Where is the academia in this. Tough national challenges are not solved by regimented half literate institutions but a body of critical thinkers who the authorities must recognise and embrace. |
And there are older people all around him.... none to give sound counsel..pity. |
SpaceAngel:No child is born stubborn or with traits other than love, joy and peace. That children turn out differently is directly as a result of the environment they grow in. Violence, abuse, hate, divisions, squabbles all summarised as bad patenting quickly moulds the mindset of the child who only wants foods, sleep, a change of diapers and a regular bath. Have you noticed when a baby is born they react to sounds perceptibly. They cry at sharp loud noises, they hate screams and dhouting and pleasure at soft music, lullabies. How you craft your children is what they become. |
xtophy:Hmmmm.... |
Talkingboy:Yes, tell your boss you are going for an interview and would require unpaid leave. He owns your services, he doesn't own you nor your prospects. If you see yourself as a slave, you are. If you see yourself as a partner then feel free. Afterall to be the boss he would have juggled jobs also. |
Happens a lot more than people think especially in professional circles and in government/private sector interfaces where the boss is moonlighting. That is why it is important to constantly create value, then you can decide without resorting to lies. 'Boss, there is an opening that I want to attend' and then send shivers down his spine when he sees you there. |
freebuddy:His defence has been poor since 2008 - 2009. His holding midfield has been non existent since Patrick Viera retired. Year in year out he does nothing about his defence and it shows. Mancity totally overhauled their, even Liverpool recognised this problem and made an attempt in Van Dijk. All Wenger does is to sign soft ar.sed lazy midfielders time and again who have no idea of what to do without the ball. He forgets that the law of soccer says attackers may win you games but defenders win you trophies and tournaments. Wenger has aged badly in football terms and if the management cannot summon the courage to fire him then more heartbreak is coming. |
Dangote trucking incidents week in week out. When he asked for graduate drivers his establishment and the Nigerian factor turned against him. If this was an accountable and liable society his accountants and lawyers will have forced his hands to upgrade or risk losing his fortune to insurance premiums amd endless litigation. There is hardly a police station on Nigerian highways where you don't see an accidented Dangote truck and the highways are littered with his carcasses. |
thesicilian:According to the report he was still receiving treatment up to the time of his death. Which means the diagnosis was wrong and treatment most likely superficial. If he was hit on the head then a whole lot of complications may have arisen. Head injuries are very dangerous. |
A few days prior was it traders on one highway that were ambushed and a lot of foodstuff looted. Intelligence should have indicated that Boko were stockpiling rations for something big coming up. With over a hundred mouths to feed everyday it is clear this was well planned. Expect more food raids in the coming weeks and months. |
minasota:But when we say restructure you say no. That corruption is our main problem and only a corruption fighter will do. After 3 years..... |
I really do hope the APC is able to sort out its challenges beginning this week and before the next general elections so that it can remain strong and cohesive post 2019. The lessons from the pre 2015 election PDP debacle must be learnt and avoided at all costs because the nation has suffered greatly from the lack of organised political opposition like mature democracies depend on. After three years in the political wilderness it is clear the PDP is still not ready to be the counter weight to give this nation the much needed stability. The APC should begin to plan post Buhari. It should begin to institutionalise itself and disolve contending and divergent power structures within and most importantly begin to prepare for life in opposition which may come at any electoral milestone in the future. Because a political party can only be described to have been established if it can go the full cycle of power to opposition and back to power without losing itself, its soul. The fear is real that once Baba Buhari is gone the party may as well return to its component parts. Asiwaju Tinubu and Mr President must ensure this does not happen as the greatest legacy they will leave is not the ultimate goal of ruling this cou try but of creating a vehicle for its long term viability. Let the APC show the PDP and other parties how political institutions work and how they can be made to work for the greater good. Wish them the best. Their success is Nigeria's success just as other parties. |
Silly man...next. |
We've seen it all before. Kabo Air had a couple of 747's so we are not short on memory and until air transport transits from a business to an industry all the hullabaloo will be as fickle as a typical Hollywood marraige. Next. Abeg. Air transport is not for Nigeria(ns). |
Yet a new low. If grazing is okay why not hunting on airport property for antelopes and giant rats aka grass cutter. |
NwaAmaikpe:Stop this nonsense please. The policeman is dead why continue the insult. Is he quack in person or by the training he received in the institution he served. Please think humanely when making public statements. |
Hahahaha....in 2015 did we expect to be hearing stories like this. Nigeria going.....going.... |
Lovely. |
sweerychick:When you get married your husband will be entitled to keep secrets from you and and you will have no right to inquire upon suspicion. Now say a big amen. |
blackylola:I thought it was the horseband who anger dominated. |
Timoleon:Step by step. You don't expect greenhorns to sack established continental giants overnight. That being said the consistency that makes north african teams powerhouses must be our target. The NPFL should look at the structure of clubs with the aim of establishing their long term viability. This can be done by encouraging them firstly to evolve their ownership away from sole proprietorship either by state governments or individuals. The overall aim will be to make them public liability companies in the long run so that funding is more broad based and individual influences and fortunes are contained. It can set this as a precondition for teams to be promoted from the NSL and give the existing NPFL clubs a set medium term limit which to devolve or evolve their ownership structure. The idea of waiting for a 'sports loving governor' or billionaire politico-socialite looking for publicity or a plaything to massage his ego, to awaken the fortunes of a regional club can then be out of the window permanently. You can imagine that all four reps last season did not make it this time around and shows the inconsistency that cannot bring success at the international stage. Commercial success which is vital to the long term viability of clubs also requires a more robust structure of league clubs. Sponsorship thrives on stability and sustainable success. Sponsorship thrives on branding. Sponsorship thrives on organisation. Sponsorship primarily comes from the private sector and they prefer to deal with 'private sector counterparts'. No one is comfortable giving money to a government owned entity due to accountability issues so clubs should be herded by the NPFL towards making them business centres. With proper funding comes the ability to plan long term, tie down squad players to proper contracts, build infrastructure and brand. |
It is a sign the NPFL is doing something right. Hope they sustain such direction and impetus. |
Kobicove:They choose to engage women who add no value to them so what do you expect. It is often so mysterious how men and women of success cannot seem to engage partners of equal principles. You just wonder what attracted them to these folks because you'd think birds of the same plumage flock together. |
By 2019 everyone will be demystified....nothing new to say on this forum. Same ol, same ol... Without restructuring Nigeria has no future. |
donaldfafree:You lose hydraulic power. The brakes system stiffens and the road takes charge. Only the park brakes work and then they have to be applied sensibly if they are manual. |
No matter how bad the idea is I will look for a straight road section, kill the engine and hang onto the steering for dear life. If the vehicle begins to slip I re-engage the engine to power the hydraulics. The speed should be down by then for one to think straight. The time spent in dialing emergency can be costly. |
