He cannot do that. Federal law superceeds anything he can throw at them except if he is trying to declare independence. Others are watching and will gladly welcome a Federal retreat in their domains. What will the Feds do next. |
This is almost equivalent to life behind bars without the judiciary. An overkill for the crime she committed. Now she's sure to lose her job and will not likely find a replacement. She will lose all her relationships with civil minded folks and a glass ceiling is firmly placed over her future aspirations no thanks to the internet that never forgets. 'Mummy is that you in the picture.....' Which husband will be able to take that.... Just for a one night stand..... a lifetime of total ruin. |
marveangel:Good morning. Had a nice 60 odd years in dreamland? What we have seen since the eighties, what we have experienced since the fourth republic and what we have been preaching since this government swept to power on mistaken hopes. It is the structure 'stupid' (sorry Bill Clinton)... and not corruption, not elections, not government, not president's for they will all come and go but without restructuring, Nigeria can never develop, Nigeria can never change. Change the game and not the players. |
sarrki:Including those in power now? |
I hope he will never be on that road by 9pm in his life again if he gets out of this mess. What was he thinking. Even your security detail will advice otherwise. |
Lovely. Beautiful people. Rich heritage. |
HonSuQMaDIQ:Ha. Honourable. Long time. Where have you been. |
DollarAngel: Klopp should do something about his teeth...gosh. |
Waiting for those who throw shades at private universities for being glorified grade schools. Now their lecturers are hovering around their kitchens. Wetin concern University with hot plate. Let the students pay for it if they want it. |
kolnel:But corruption has ended two years ago. Why no improvement under the incorruptible leaders we have now. Dey deceive ya sef. Corruption ko, contraption ni. |
Not again mbok..... with all this economic somersaults... Congo people should stop eating their kind. This is what you get when a monkey eats a monkey thinking its a delicacy. |
.....a day you wish you could just hack one of those CIA's Predator X drones.... anyway... |
ylaa:Yes, we are here. Oya na. Start name calling. You must call her what you call men who act violently. No sugar coating. |
davodyguy:So sorry for you. You were warned. |
thunder74:Exactly. This country can NEVER develop. It is a waste of time. I think what they ultimately want is for every other peoples to emigrate and leave the country for them. What selfishness. |
wristbangle:Na now sun dey rise for una medula. So after 3 years of corruption war people are still stealing anything 'stealable' shows it is futile. The EFCC everyone is hailing is like a village doctor who goes into the surrounding swamp and brushland with cans of Baygon or Rambo because malaria is endemic in the community...and people are hailing his folly.... instead of town planning to redevelop the area, clear the bushes and drain the swamp. The battle to rid Nigeria of corruption is not the work of the EFCC but of the National Assembly driven by the people who desire to restructure this country to make public funds emanate from the grassroots upwards to government and not from government down to the grassroots to ensure accountability. The source of corruption is the financial structure of Nigeria and it will not stop until ALLOCATION is ended. After the public is given the right to finance their government then the EFCC can then be a useful tool OF THE PEOPLE to do the hands on dirty work. Right now it is only a foolish citizen who will expect a government agency, appointed and approved by government to hold government accountable. Dogs don't eat dog meat, simple. In every developed, non banana country, agencies charged with accountability are independent of government and government officials and the right to check corruption is the responsibility of NON POLITICAL ACTORS, not some President chanting political slogans. Have you ever heard Angela Merkel or Mrs May or Donald Trump yapping about corruption.... It is not their talk, it is not their fight. It is the people, the citizens through their institutions who check these things. But the Nigerian citizen is too weak. Bogged down in ethno-religious quicksand and weighed down with ignorance and illiteracy, he is unable to rise and exert his rights to proper governance, unable to insist that he pays for governance, government activities and the wages of government officials, so the elite ride rhopshod over him. 'Na ya money. Werin consan you.' Yes, they are right. It is not your money so it is not your business what happens to it. Someone said the other day, 'yes this government is not chasing its party members through the EFCC. Let the next government do that...' A citizen's admission of total defeat. |
chigoziri2403:Yes na. Have you ever seen a 'mechanic' that drives a good car, or a barber with a decent haircut or a pastor who doesn't tell lies....aka God sent me to tell you... |
I'm afraid these days you have to go after the facts and ask what he does for a living before further comments even the habitual RIP. The times we live in. |
Jeffboi:Hmmm....so they think they are on a runway and they are the captain of Lufthansa flight 887 taking them to Frankfurt.... |
okoliexpress:No sir. Democracy is peoples power. There are always alternatives. It is just that people are too blind to see them and ignorant to reach them. The quality of candidates election after election is a reflection of peoples patronage. If you don't buy they won't sell themselves. If the general perception is that certain standards must be met, then people will be vetted out. Political parties won't put them on the ballot. Yes, Buhari was perceived as the only potential to unseat an incumbent but who votes, the people. So Nigerians need enlightenement to stop the succession of less than average leaders. |
obonujoker:No one could anticipate this. The solution is more education and enlightenement across board. Do that and sentimentality reduces. And oh. Build institutions. Demand they be established to insulate the citizenry from the fortunes (or shall we say misfortune) of the leaders because it is not Buhari's fault that he is sick and it is not his fault alone that medicare is shot. |
johnbuck81:See. Although there is an information and educational deficit that causes a lot of problems in the land but for a person to develop the courage to turn from an error and not be glued by the usual ethno centric, ethno religious sentiments is commendable. |
bbbabes:Excuse me sir. I don't know whether its in the title or... But when a person approches this text he/she has an expectation of A SOLUTION not a disaster management course. Quite frankly I was expecting some technical innovation to reverse internet blunders....or am I mistaken. |
Since the day you claimed that British boy was Nigerian na so so fight every wia. Vladimir. See wetin you cause. You carry Ukraine and Russia spirit enta Naija. |
Never employ a person who has bad habits. It matters. It will cost you. |
Freeman85:Because it is money not earned. They owe because next month allocation is just 30 days away. You can book Bayelsa on futures for the next 50 years and spend Bayelsa's money 200 years in advance. Which businessman can do that. Even Dangote does not know what he will earn by years' end. The best he can do is project. And he will have to work like crazy to meet that projection and if he doesn't, shareholders pull down his wealth. If Bayelsa was made to work for its earnings it will not owe workers because they will be revenue generating assets not current liabilities. So it will either need them to raise further revenue or sack them to preserve its balance sheet, but Nigeria is not structured that way. |
Ezechinwa:I am yet to see a man on this earth who has made it big time from begging. Check Forbes and get back to me if you can. Five years of responsibility will bring a man to productivity faster than a lifetime of handouts. And anyone who labours for his sustenance will be accountable. His mind is constantly devoted to earnings. Anyone who receives freebies has his mind constantly focused on expenses. You can never be wise until you work. Nigeria can never develop until it restructures. The other day it was an international conference centre someone used 'scarce' resources to build. A place where people will sit and talk about what...how to give international aid to the citizens of the state. Do you know that just 5 top tax payers of the state of California can service the needs of most of those states combined. But what is being done about the greatest resource of them all, human capital, nothing. Education is the least priority...because it is impossible to think straight when you don't earn what you spend. |
Yes allocation. What a father gives to his 50 year old son (as some states celebrate 50 years in existence) who is unable to take care of himself. As a matter of fact, if not that the aging father is growing weary, he was until recently, sweeping his house and fetching water via the so called Ministry of Water Resources. Nigeria is just indescribable. Such a sorry state. |
Edu3Again:Exactly. If as a government you force people into a space, you must work the space or be prepared to hear noise. The Federal Government saw how horrible Lagos was getting and set sail for new lands in the late eighties. They known this country has developmental challenges but they pretend all is well. The Lagos government boasts of unmatched internal revenues. They should show what they are doing with it. The political angle is that it has been a one party state since 1999 so there is no excuse of instability. |
That is why I say that the best we can get under this arrangement is superficial improvement. No real change is possible without restructuring. Someone even volunteered that if residents were to return to their states of origin it will help but is this not what we talk about, a devolution of powers from the centre so that other parts are allowed to develop. Let the states control their economies and let's see what remains attractive in Lagos to cause the sub-human levels of living. But will they, no. They prefer the status quo and are suffering and dying in it. Nigerians are so dull. |
engrMikemd:Three not five....but they are not a high scoring team....even with the motivation of a derby. |
When we say restructuring is the only way out some say once you fight corruption Nigeria becomes Singapore in a flash. Now they can see why the status quo is heavily guarded, why they have been chasing shadows and what has happened to the missing cookie. Nigerians are so dull. |
