otokx:How. Is fhis not the same ol, same ol. They meet, decide who rules next and Nigeria is cast in their image.....aand the cycle goes on and on. Can you see what I have been saying since joining this forum. Except Nigeria is restructured. This country can never move forward. Now you can see the human limitations of a superman, now you can see why it is vain chasing up messiahs but rather seek to institutionalise things. Now you can see clearly the various agendas at play. So sorry for this country and its poor, ignorant citizens....by the way I hope you have 24hrs light in Choba now.. .. was around there a few days ago before returning to Abuja. |
sarrki:You are not interested in Nigeria. Just another name dropping etthno-centric citizen. |
ednut1:In theory, as long as you are not moving energy is not being consumed so it will be like a cell phone on standby, however the climate control nav and infotainment systems will be functioning so you will gradually take a power hit. |
Abegi. America should stick to things that fly. Creativity in the auto industry lies in Europe. |
tete7000:What is the quality of Nigerian politics. How has it affected even you positively. What is there to join. For you Nigeria is okay, for others it is not. Is it a crime to decide you either have a say or go your way. |
All I know is that everyone has a right of association, the freedom to belong or not to and no one can be forced into any sort of union he or she does not feel comfortable living in. Liberty is not man mandated. It is God given. And if you want to find a reason why Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Korea all at par with Nigeria in all developmental indicies in the 60's have left us far behind, it is this. And it is no surprise that North Korea wants to forcibly unify the south with it. Who will want to live with those you don't share the same philosophy, aspirations and dreams with. Nigeria cannot coerce all its inhabitants and hope to succeed. It simply cannot develop. For some, this is okay because their mindset it permenantly attuned to suffering but for others they will surely move on.This country will either bend or break. Some ask why the south-easterners want self determination. That what is so attractive about another country. The question they should ask themselves is. What is so attractive about Nigeria as presently constituted. Naturally divorce is painful and wasteful but may be the last option when abuse cannot be contained, stopped or reversed. Joe Ibokwe cannot fix Nigeria as it is constituted so what does he want others to remain with him in the tomb when they want life. The real frauds are those pretending all is well and hoping that doing the same thing for 60 years will set them on a different path. |
ifeanyija:They are all ashamed. They cannot believe that lightning has struck twice.... and that's why I never factor individuals in my critical thinking. Support institutions alone and remain relevant. |
I think Kanu should limit his exposure to these questionable fellows to prevent the movement from becoming a political football. If there is any threat to the ideology it will be from 'within'. |
talkoutloud:Na. Full Metal Jacket. They were singing M-I-C-K-E-Y-M-O-U-S-E..... The guvnur na real mickey mouse. |
Vicben:I was fuming till I saw this one and couldn't but burst into lafta. They look like the british POW's being taken by the Japs to work on the bridge over river Kwai. Hahahaha.... |
jomonic:Exactly. They think those who maintain the status quo are fools. They have been working extra hard since independence to ensure Nigeria remains this way. Had it been Nigeria is a success story no one will complain but it is not. That in trying to reboot the country is a threat to some is understandable but for those who suffer it most to desire it remains this way forever is quite frankly baffling. Just look at the DSS recruitment issue of late and the excuse that was given for it and those who are affected adversely are just laughing it off, then telling you to tone down your own agitation. You use words, they use action to project their power and influence. Be toning down you hear.... bull crap. Ken thinks he can negotiate with Rome. Yes, they accepted Paul, heard him and then hung him. |
kitaatita:Then there is no need to talk about it if it is 'nothing' Why talk about irrelevant things. |
What are they saying. Is it not the agitation that brought them into that book launch. If not for agitation will the Niger-Delta have resource control. For their information power does not remain in a vacuum. Look at the core north that has dominated power since independence. Even with their man in power they still put pressure on the rest of Nigeria, their emirs are still talking with fighting words, the ACF, the northern elders forum remain vocal trying to ward off any interests from other parts and this people want the east to tone it down. In Nigeria, if you keep quiet you will just die there for nothung. The only language a deaf man hears is demonstration. The Nigerian state is deaf and blind to the fortunes of her constituents, they can only expect push back in response. If the east fights for secession and they get restructuring it is a lot better than to fight for restructuring and get what.... slots, allocation, borehole, road.... .This country is just disgusting. |
And yet we will speak so authoritatively on matters way above our level of comprehension. 'Donot operate a generator with a phone torch'. What is the meaning of this. And the chap will have gone to bed feeling he passed across a message. Perhaps too grieved to read what he posted. |
chiefeconomist:QED. |
The article is not creamy smooth but what I can say about this before awaiting responses is this: In letting the naira find its true market value remains the best tool for 'compelling' Nigerians to seek other means of obtaining it, whether generating their own, popularly called diversification or attracting those who already have it whether foreigners, exiles or locals to invest in dollars or dollar related enterprises. You simply cannot have a capitalist system which we operate with socialist guidelines. Someone somewhere is bound to be cheated, robbed and rendered poor and unfortunately in this case it is the 'common' man who has borne the brunt. Just like the fuel subsidy regime, the common man enjoys little benefit (his net fuel footprint is small but the cost to him of the loss of other social services such as roads, schools, hospitals is high, similarly with forex, the common man's share of the foreign reserve cannot be compared to that of the well to do on a personal and general scale. What government through the CBN should do, once again like the fuel subsidy regime is a deliberate phased floating over a five, ten or twenty year period so that inflationary pressures are spread out but for the CBN to continue to use oil prlceeds to subsidise 'consumption' in large parts is just callous and generations to come will curse us for not making hay when the sun of big oil finally sets. Old habits are painful to leave. That's why this government with all the political capital it had, had the greatest opportunity to effect real change but it rather chose to maintain the status quo of big oil, cheap forex, consumption based socio-governmental structures. No lesson has been learnt, the Niger-Delta is quiet so they think Nigeria has succeeded. So the next recession will be worse. Much worse. |
You must have started the journey with money so it will end with money. There is little chance it can be repaired any other way except God steps in. |
GloriaNinja:Yeah, educated people don't use such language. Thunder this, thunder that is the communication, mentality and perhaps experiences of 'village' people..... |
This is so sick. This is so, so wrong. If the relations of the deceased see this he is legally done. |
Nigerians and racism. The sporting achievement like all other aspirations take the back seat. Wonder why this country is like that. And they will say corruption is the problem without knowing what is behind it all. |
asuustrike2009:GLO has a slightly better spread but Etisalat more than makes up in quality. |
W3xy1:They are just the best.. QED. |
malware:No. You correct errors. You don't deepen, complicate or escalate them. Because if you do where does it end and how will it engender trust in your other policies and programs like the famed anti-corruption war. So will they also steal to make it 'even'. Like I said earlier the north is not politically or demographically disadvantaged. There is no need for them to seek their already dominant position in government at all levels accumulated over 30 years of rule. |
persius555:They were lopsided in favour of the south but the context and that of the entire Jonathan regime was to give those people a sense of belonging after decades of neglect. If the north feels it has to catch up after controlling and dominating the governance of Nigeria since independence then it is a pity. I repeat. Jonathan was there for only 5 years, even Buhari alone will soon match that timespan not to talk of Yaradua, Abacha, Murtala and all the others who did this exact thing over 40 years. What they do does not represent a fundamental change in direction but a return to the status quo of lopsided northern dominance. Only restructuring can save this country. |
LordVoldemort:And who are the ones that cannot easily assimilate their cultures and religion into the climes they visit and welcome people of different faiths and tongues into their land. Who are the ones who forment the giant share of ethno-religous conflagration and blood letting. Are they or are they not the same people in consideration. |
TheLordIsGr8:And winning him and his course more and more support. Is this wise. This government makes it hard for its supporters to defend it and what will be left when the dust has cleared will be a small group of hardcore, dangerous fanatics who won't bat an eyelid to 'liquidate 200.' |
austinvsb1:So you guys have been pretending all the while. |
ziga:So Nigeria as presently constituted is okay for you simply because of size. For your information all those countries you mentioned have independence or seperatist movements; both civil as in the State of Texas in the US and violently as in the Caucuses, Russia and the Uigur moslem minorities in China. Are these countries more prosperous and peaceful than pin sized countries like Japan, Singapore, Norway, Finland and others. Abeg park well. What rulers, dictators, conquistadors and the whole lot of greedy, self-centrered maniacs look for is the size of their conquests. What ordinary folks, the common citizen looks for is peace, security and a decent standard of living. Has a supersized Nigeria given any of these. Abeg answer. The UK is shrinking. They feel they will get a better life out of the EU while other countries like Greece are in the greater EU, wasting away, getting poorer because they can't make german BMW's and cook like the french. Abegii. Nigeria like this doesn't work. New heroic government, 'heavenly sent president' yet everything worsens. And you mentioned Japan shows how faulty your logic is. Japan is the size of just 3 or 4 Nigerian states with half the land uninhabitable mountains and a small population half of which are pensioners yet the third largest economy and crime next to zero. Bigger can only be better if it is homogenous not fractured and divisive. The police needs 30,000 new cops a year to keep this country from exploding. You should be worried that the police will soon consume all the resources of the country. Don't restructure, be doing big....big wahala is loading. |
Anyway it is not that important in the context of righting the wrongs of Nigeria as it will vent the smokescreen called the anti-corruption war to reveal the true intents of maintaining the status quo. We can see that the country faces a greater danger of social instability, ethno-centric disputings that can only be solved by restructuring. If Nigeria is restructured who will care if Nigeria's Washington DC takes most federal appointments when Nigeria's California is the economic hub and Nigeria's Texas is the country's resource depository. No one. The only reason why folks are worried today is because a section are determined not just to conquer and dominate land, agric and mineral assets but also jobs, positions, opportunities and other 'soft resources' so that when the move is finally made to physically occupy there will not be the resources, the cash, the influence nor the will to defend lands, cultures, values, religions and other things people hold dear and make them human and alive. They know the call for restructuring grows louder and they feel in time to come it will happen. So why should anyone be surprised the rush and desperation to dig in and spread defensively. |
modsfucker:Okay. So the solution to past nepotism is more nepotism now.... I wonder what the solution is to past embezzlement....grass cutting....or |
OlaMiki:So it is right. Yes or no. Let us assess your level of morality. |
Nigerians and their mumu no get rival. Just like excitable teenage girls gathered round the late evening fire pot dreaming about Prince Charming instead of burning the midnight oil in a quest to develop to become irresistable worthy brides. Thus they oft end up in the kitchens and warming the beds of oafs and baboons. The question Nigerians should ask themselves is: how qualified, educated, informed am I about the workings of democracy, Nigeria's version of it and how it can be a tool to meet their individual and collective aspirations. For it is only when someone knows how a thing works that he can bravely quest for the right person to work it. So it is not Ade the bricklayer or Uche the blacksmith or Usman the carpenter when in truth you want to build an igloo in Lapland. Get to know the task at hand first, get to know how Nigeria can be made to work, get to know the competencies of the aspirators before trying to match them. And not just their faces or colourful backgrounds or else we risk ending up once again with picking the bad out of the worst as we always seem to. |
