Iykopee:In a deregulated market that is a Rivers problem. Doesn't concern us. |
bejeiodus:Are you willing to pay for that. |
neolboy:Hope not. Aren't you tired of seeing his face. Like we can't move forward in this country. Stuck on the same spot in perpetuity. We have seen Mikel's game over the years, through and through. He has nothing new or better to offer. Let us build a new team for the future, an entirely new team. |
And I hope you will discontinue wasting public funds. What should a Federal officer be doing playing guard to an ordinary Councillor. There are half a million policemen for a population 170 million, we just cannot afford to put one in every 'big' man's car when faced with widespread security threats. It is a serious waste of resources. You steal they put policemen to investigate you, you are cleared and still tie down law enforcement resources. For what. |
Corruption can never end. It is in our DNA and we just have to live with it. The noise and hot air blowing out of Aso Rock is just for entertainment.....of course for those who are interested in theatrics. |
.......the three pussycatos. The Premiership remains the biggest drama played with the feet, full of comedians, actors and jesters, the best soap opera in world soccer but when you require goals and excellence look to Spain and the spanish league. They have made a man out of a boy, made a certain Bale a big game player. |
Thought they said they will not devalue so what is this face saving side shift. Thoughtless, slow thinking people trying to control and dominate what you don't have. After throwing billions away defending the indefensible, after losing scores of foreign investors, trillions in the capital market, billions to run away bond rates, watch as hundreds of local industries fold up with thousands of joblosses, you give up the pride provoking policy after subduing the right views of the CBN. Clinton said it, it is strong institutions we need not all this noise. We are too slow in this country, too ignorant to have a decent society. |
greatman247:It happened when Buhari was PTF Chairman. There were two principal consultants, one for the north and one of projects in the south. The one in the north was headed by his inlaw who collected huge kick backs on their behalf and when I say huge I mean huge. I had contacts with a number of sub-consultants. When Abacha died the fellow passed away mysteriously. Cronism and corruption CAN NEVER LEAVE THIS COUNTRY. It is in our DNA. Corruption in Nigeria is defined as what the other man is doing or has done, not us. |
Everyone is involved in corruption. It is our DNA. The budget has been released and 'contractors' have descended on Abuja with mandates from governors, representatives, ministers and the process of 'sharing' of our collective patronage has begun in earnest. Nothing can and nothing will change. Let us stop deceiving ourselves. Under this structure Nigeria cannot get better. |
If you are clean then why are you in exile. Return and defend your name. When you do then your detention will be decried like those of a few others. And you can brjng your American friends in for added security and witness. |
frenchwine:Trying to be politically correct just like Christian Obama on Islamic Extremist Terrorism. |
TheGoodJoe:Fashola is continuing with projects. Fayemi went back to Ajaokuta but was locked out by legalities, Amaechi cancels and waits for his first tenure to end. Tell me if he is elected and if he is sure he will be a Minister next week. Abeg, I don't talk like a market woman, I'm done. |
TheGoodJoe:And what did he budget for.....eh. Typical Nigerian governmental style, abandon and start anew. Like I said, Yaradua did plenty of this and at the end what was the result. Thank goodness Fashola is doing better. Let Amaechi build his East West rail line and pray hard to remain in government to see it through or else it will meet with similar fate. He is just a sentimental, petty man. |
eph12:Don't mind them. By the time they get round to doing it, the 13 billion will be lost to inflation, decay and devaluation if at all the money will ever be recovered. These people are just too slow. Even in the battle field there are medics attached to each company. They don't wait for the war to end before treating the wounded or there will be no one left. The past regime continues to trouble and set the pace of this government which is unfortunate but remember the next polls wil be about ACCOMPLISHMENTS not excuses. A lot was done by Bush to destroy the American economy but Obama had a plan, repair the economy and withdraw from costly wars AT THE SAME TIME. You can repair and recover at the same time. |
TheGoodJoe:Then he should go ahead and build it and stop looking for excuses. Is he the EFCC chairman. The Lagos-Ibadan expressway is going ahead despite the over-inflation and repititive contract failures dating back to the Obasanjo concession, same with the shady 2nd Niger bridge, the Abuja-Lokoja highway, the refinery repairs, the PHCN privatisation, etc. Which project has Fashola officially cancelled despite the fact all are questionable. He is too sentimental and petty to be a minister in a complex country such as Nigeria. Ajaokuta is grounded and several other industries because of Yaradua's reversals. What have we gained from that. The plants are rotting away, the refineries should be in private hands now but are still costing us billions without resolution just because if sentiments. |
TheGoodJoe:And what is more important, a centre of education or a transit line. Does education have a price. But this is not the argument but the fact that everything in the Niger Delta is overpriced and fraught with fraud including all and I mean all Amaechi's projects because we have been on ground when they were done. And believe me I have no problem with the transfer of wealth to the peoples of the Niger Delta whether individuals or communes either by right or wrong means because it has been done by others and it is still being done by others right now. You say that land for that school should not cost 13 billion but what is the value of the oil extracted from that area and how much have the shareholders of Chevron in Houston or Newyork made out of that land to fuel the American economy that building a school has become so evil. Amaechi has a choice, build or not. The people have made theirs and are speaking with the tools they have. |
You simply cannot fight corruption without social justice. You cannot fight corruption with political bias. If the corruption fight will be this government's only or biggest selling card come the next election then it needs to do the right thing and not just the politically expedient, sentimental and personal things. It needs to make huge sacrifices which it appears unable to make. You claim you are going after 13 billion for land yet have lost 60 billion in lost crude sales to militants as a result of these things and counting. Is that wisdom. |
TheGoodJoe:So what will you say about Amaechi's monorail project, should Wike continue or not because that is a like for like comparison, fraud for fraud because as scandalous as that land costs so is the cost of each pillar, every linear metre of that rail line. Why use Golf Estate when there is a more appropriate comparison, that is if you are not politically biased. Oya, talk. |
What is all the moaning about. Job creation is a private sector movement borne out of creativity and enterprise. How much of that can you do when you are busy crying here. Your country needs your efforts not your complaints. |
Have they been paid is the question. Going back to site can be anything from threats to IOU's. Then you will ask the question. Why have they stopped for a year when government is supposed to be a continuum. |
Nothing to add. Nigerians are just too slow in thought. |
I hope he will be taken off field work for as long the other gang members are at large. Too risky for him and his loved ones. |
If you want to fight corruption publish all public procurement with real and real time details of contracts tied to correspondent budgetary provisions including quality verification in all MDA's to see whether it has truly been eradicated or has merely changed ownership. This is very to do. I assure that as a Nigerian living in the real world this exercise does not discourage nor punish corruption. Most will take the money and do the time. |
Might as well sack the entire armed forces. Just wasting their time. They don't even know what corruption is. As soon as the big money becomes available they will take it again. Right now they are taking out of the little available. |
ochallo:He is right in a way. The banks should begin to cultivate alternate sources of cash independent of government by investing more in the real sector, developing real enterprise, investing in infrastructure that supports business. That is real banking. What you sow you reap. They have sown too much in government and are reaping recession. But the governmènt should bail them out in the meantime by reversing TSA for a fixed, targeted period and watching that such funds are spent on the real economy to build the power stations, transmission towers, rail lines and ports, things the government should not be doing because they are less effective and efficient at it. |
They know that ATM and net aplications have peaked. How many more artisans will be sacrificed for banking industry jobs. The 'private' man remains the biggest job creator and the biggest contributor to the future economy. And he remains a cash carrying man. Now they hold him responsible for job losses and altar him to curb inflation, why. |
AkumahTalk:Can you imagine. They should remove ALL restrictions. Lion dey pursue you, you dey apply brake.....your name na sorry?. |
mikolo80:They are responding to government's policies, haba, you too are slow. Government sets the pace of everthing. They should reverse TSA until the economy starts moving again. You don't create hurdles in a contracting economy, period, think man, think. |
My oh my. We are indeed heading for the abyss. Instead of increasing liquidity we are further throwing road blocks in the way of investment and enterprise. They think by making it harder to access cash, prices and inflation will fall. This is jaundiced thinking because the reason we are here is because productivity is low, earnings are low. And when your earnings are low, you should work harder. What the hell do you work with if not money. In the States their response to the worst economic downturn in history was to liquidate banks and 'force' money into the hands of people. This government sef eh, just staggering. |
sammyclassics:England has never won ANYTHING worthwhile in world soccer. The 66 World Cup has gone down in history as the most rigged tournament with FIFA and referees determined to crown England by knocking out Brazil using the butchery of Uruguay. By the way FIFA remains a rogue organisation till date. In the Euros even Greece and Denmark have won it while England deceive themselves with freak titles. There were more Spanish players in Seville than there were English players in Liverpool still the Reds got thumped. Imagine if it was all English. Arsenal looks to offload 5 players this summer, 2 for old age, 3 for performance. Guess who are the non performers. Gibbs, Chamberlin and Walcott, all still not at peak age but were at peak hype previously. |
nonjebose:Which talent. Do you know what talent means. Did you see any talent on the field last night. Ha. How the English manage to flatter you guys to deception is unbelieveable. I know everything English rules the world but quality footy is a big exception. Their players are rated well over their capacity and their coaches well over their pay grade. All hot air. That my friend is called hyping. |
bejeiodus:You, him, all of us know the problems besetting the energy sector, but will you accept the solution. Will you not view them through distorted, sentimental, sectional, parochial lenses and see only hopelessness. Let us continue deceiving ourselves. |
