Just as I warned about the politicization of the bokoharam insurgency and the denigration of public office during the previous regime which the APC and its supporters are now witnessing against them to their shock and consternation so I do say once again: When will these people, this government and this party take responsibility and do what it was elected to do, that is to govern. The more it continues to trade blames the more it bleeds its goodwill and once again when (not if) it is voted out, it must be prepared to carry the can of responsibility well beyond its time in office. The PDP is out of power, the Jonathan government is gone forever. Can we move on please. History is only for learning purposes. It doesn't bake bread. |
Zitoangels:If he and what he is doing is inconsequential, why are you making all this noise. |
Dotmax53:Abeg go and sit down joor. Is that a marital problem. Instead of taking her to see a doctor you are seeking advice from nut heads. |
Ola17:Every bloody thing Nigeria has racism in it. What you are admiting is that this country is stranded on Mars....completely hopeless. |
youngice:Yes, that is what every sane economist will do; you either do it willingly or at gun point. The choice is very much yours. |
Gingerr:Ouch! Don't overcook the advice girl. 'despite flaws' She did exactly that and ended up dead. Your advice should be to see flaws and Usain bolt. |
smithsydny:Stay in your country and build it. |
StOla:As long as Messi reigneth no defender can win the 'baloon door' even you. As I always say face the game not the players. Oga. These people you are defending will let you down. Nigeria is structurally preset for corruption no matter who is President, not anyone's fault. Virtually all the ministers and MILAD's who served under the Buhari and Idiagbon regime left multi-millionaires. Fayemi and co. will not be an exception. |
Moral values...hahaha....I wonder what will have happened if someone had held up an 8 by 8 placard with the pic of him and the lady in red doing the do in reply. Anyway he is right. Nigerians are that dull and dense upstairs, learning nothing so condemned to the dregs of history. This is perhaps the only country that has gone through a civil war and learnt absolutely nothing. A nation that cannot provide justice, equity and prosperity 50 years on is nothing but a tragedy. We deserve everything we get and everything coming. Continue. |
This is why I say we should build institutions but the black man rather finds persuasion in persons, shadows of colonialism?. Mr President has an office, he has staff and he works for and with many bodies that can address these matters. These people cannot continue to demand his presence willy nilly and I say this with all conviction. There are other areas where critical attention is required of him. I do hope the girls are found but the nation and the parents must brace up to the fact that it might never be so and a part of us must begin to prepare our minds to remember their sacrifice as heroines of this unfortunate conflict. May the good Lord grant them the fortitude. |
ican2020:...hmmm, no more Buhari's intervention. Told you Nigerians have to take personal responsibility. That is nationhood a tree cannot make a forest but a smouldering stump can destroy one. |
porka:1984 reloading. The similarities are uncanny. We are in for it. |
Tochaigh:Because nothing is happening in Nigeria. Demand and supply is not only affecting the dollar naira dance but the media too. |
How is this possible. For robbers and murderers to be released from custody. The killing of military and police personnel is a Federal Crime and in all likelihood they would have been moved to Abuja well away from Wike's reach. Militants, kidnappers and cross border bandits always ended up there. Something doesn't add up. |
pamdaniel:Commercial time-out a.k.a interlude between scenes in the play titled 'Dasuki and the 40 thieves'....nothing else is going on in the grave yard called Nigeria......nothing.. |
And why shouldn't Jonathan speak on the matter. I keep on saying that no person should be exalted above and beyond any institution they represent. Now Secondus wants to sacrifice the PDP for Jonathan? Why. Jonathan came and went. Should that be the end of the PDP. I think the final and lasting legacy Jonathan and the party should leave is to open up on this matter. He is the best President so far and can cement that by being the first to openly admit to deeds while in office. The FOI is there, He signed it. We demand to know. The nation can only be better for it. I hope the PDP listens to Jalo and acts appropriately to stop the bleeding. We need the party to found this democracy and MUST look beyond events and players. In the end it is the game that matters. |
Oh well....even foreign buyers are holding out for my exports believing 1 dollar could get N500 by year's end and they could buy me and my services for a pack of cigarettes. Even if all the money all the life blood is recovered from Dasuki will 2 billion dollars raise the dead. By 1985 when the man was ejected the economy was in far worse shape than the hey days of the Shagari 'squandermania' regime. Seems we learn little from history. That when your house is on fire you rescue your belongings and put out the fire AT THE SAME TIME. One calendar year approaches. May corruption not find a tag-team partner in disgruntled, disillusioned, discouraged Nigerians just as IBB did....in 1985. |
Meriekriss:Of course there will be issues if the Chinese continue to pump carbon into the atmosphere. Coventional wisdom says we should be retreating to higher hinterland not facing the ocean we simply cannot tame and which brings its misery in truckloads. |
ishiamu:When I read things like these I just...want to pass but some times you just have to comment on some of the most ridiculous things imaginable. Hasn't it occured to you poster that the profligacy of the past government is what is causing this lack. If you spent your salary that way won't you be broke weeks before pay day. What sort of looney hypothesis is this. |
chinchum:Do you need 2 months to gain direction. When quizzed by the Senate what did she tell them to send them to sleep so she could sneak past. If no one can tell where you are going in 8 weeks then you're not just up for it. My guess is that they will just push her into a ceremonial seat and get some big guns deployed in the background. |
Kikero112:Does your government obey the courts. Now it prays the courts for favour. Talk of pissing on your own parade. If you want the rule of law to work for you, obey it. You cannot be undermining institution ane expect anything less than a banana republic. MTN knows this. |
400billionman:Refinery and petrochemical plant my man and the figures are massive. In one fell swoop he is more than doubling our current 'installed' refining capacity but you will notice that one aspect of the petrochemical plant starts first. This is typical Dangote. He went for solid products first, an area of less ambiguity, less politics and more stability. He can command and control the price of plastics. He cannot command and control the price of petrol. I am sure the refinery was just a politically correct decision at worst and a roulette table at best. It may not make him money but it will make him friends. |
managermahmud:Think na oga. We spend Naira in Nigeria and the refinery is here. If Dangote exports he gets paid in dolllars which he is obliged to exchange at the CBN. That's why indigenous inuestors such as Dangote are more valuable to us than even multinationals such as Shell or MTN because though Shell earns us a hefty sum in forex, they also consume a lot regularly in profits, wages, etc. Whereas once Dangote sets up his refinery and repays his loans it is hoped it will be something close to 95% onshore with a very positive forex inflow. The worst to me are multinationals in engineering and construction. They barely invest, collect money upfront as mobilisation (almost always having a dollar invoice component for imports) and still remitt a good chunk of cash in forex for salaries, dividends, etc. The likes of Julius Berger are draining our life blood for nothing. |
9jaBloke:And the great mama that recently drove Obama to tears. Yes the 'legendress', Aretha Franklin. When these people go, its gone. Nothing to replace em. That's how you define a legend, irreplaceable. |
BIGTinfotech:He was a legend, period. Made music for 5 decades, hit after hit. Broaden your perspective. |
chiddysblog:You know schools have just re-opened and I couldn't help but read through thrice just to be sure he wasn't addressing Nursery 2 Gold....I...am....this country is a joke, honest. |
Oh well....what does it matter. Just 82 million. This is ward head 'choppings'. Even councillors will consider this insulting. |
Nigeria doesn't need strong men, it needs strong institutions, says people who have passed through and developed. The backward Nigerian is pleased that his institutions - the Judiciary this time is being undermined. The question to ask you folks is: after the king is gone, will the kingdom go with him. Will anti-corruption continue after Buhari. What makes policy transit government to government are strong institutions. By arrogating to himself the powers of an institution corruption is pleased it has only one man to fight and at worst it will bid its time to reappear stronger when the man is gone. It takes like powers to effectively contest. If corruption is institutionalised how can just a man put it down. He needs allies, Buhari, where are they? |
Demmocrats:Then sentence Dasuki to death if they have the liver. The death penalty for corruption in Nigeria amounts to genocide. How many will be left standing. Will you even have a government left. Abegi make I hear word. They are doing the best they can, name and shame. You can't break laws to make laws. |
idieagle:Politics of ethnicity in state election? How is that. Are both men not Ijaw or am I mistaken. |
Very good idea. |
canalily:A good number are foreign and defence/security related. It may be wise to seperate the wheat from the chaff to avoid shooting one's own feet....figuratively of course. |
