Hmmm. Yellow journalism. But why fight the wind Mr. Yobo. People who go down with celebs do so in the public eye. Sorry to use this but you're trying to privatise public assets and expecting the unions to stand by and watch. You've heard it clearly. She has a buy-out clause so don't run down her 'form' so that when PSG or Monaco comes calling...

gawgeousnezz: Being born again provides you the means to see God's Glory...it explains seeing the kingdom of God but John 3:5 went further to explain that being born of water(baptism) and spirit(Word) then you can ENTER the kingdom of God. So it's not enough to SEE God's kingdom but we need to ENTER into it.... Shalom
There is a bit of a mix up here. In several contexts water symbolises the Word, the personality of Jesus while the Holy Spirit is an entirely seperate entity. Thus to be baptised in water means to immerse oneself in the Word of God. The baptism of the Spirit as in Pentecost is an annointing (an activating ability 'to do'). They are not quite the same thing.
Christianity Etc › Re: ''born Again'' -what Did Jesus Mean? by Reference(m): 11:25am On Jul 21, 2013
To be born again simply means to 'start life afresh' and the kingdom of God is one under the rule and authority of God. Thus for you to transcend to the rule and authority of God you have simply have to become a new person, start a new life. Everything about you changes.

For example if I change nationality, I become subject to the law and authority of my new country and take on the persona of the inhabitants in thought and acts.

Nice presentation but one of the problems of obesity and its relations is portion sizes. The quantity of food in those pics can be misleading. Anyone of those can still kill you in the long run. We eat way beyond our metabolism in this country. Its not always about what we eat but about the timing and the quantities as well. I know someone who ran down his blood pressure over indulging on bananas. Wisdom is finding the right balance.

Now I hope people will get to understand that it is not about people or parties but about the power of opposition to obtain good governance.

The much vaunted anti-corruption posture of the Buhari camp cannot survive a merger in which he seeks ultimate power. He will have to join the pigs in the mud and it will get muddier if and when he gets power and has to contend with all Nigeria. That is how democracy works. Its a game of numbers.

Rooney will walk into any Premiership club including the Three Lions. Moral of the story. If you go to battle, never, absolutely never open up two war fronts simultaneously. Hitler, Napoleon, Ghengis Khan all fell this way. Sorry Peter, if club didn't want you at least country could av. Lesson for those players who think green white green is a waste of time. Though a constant addition of channels, in real, content terms DSTV is actually decaying. Even channels such as History and NatGeo are bogged down with programs for airheads - Pawn Stars, Counting Cars, 'trash collectors' and all manner of restorations. I won't even mention the lower number channels. Valuable content is constantly lost. Not surprised ESPN goes. The agenda is clear, 24hr tv is for those who have 24 hours for tv and nothing else. Yes, I mean airheads.

The fact of the matter is that with the magnitude of what happened then it would take a truth a reconciliation type of assembly or a judicial panel of inquiry (if the perps were to be brought to book) to unravel the happenings pre and post june 12.

There are just too many people involved in the tragedy of the Abiola mandate that only the testimonies of the key actors can bring anyone to book (and we know them).

So as long as we cannot for whatever reasons the matter stays dead until we as a nation are ready.

atlwireles: Doesn't work that way. Under the OBJ criteria used to retire a lot political exposed officer after he came onboard 1999. Mustapha would have been retired. His course entry mates are either colonels or Brig general as long as they were able to meet army standards and promotion criteria. Mustapha has not met most of those standards, promotion is not automatic in the army..He also due for retirement 2017. The good news here for mustapha is his pension and back pay. What a windfall.
Peanuts compared to what he has in Ali Baba's cave but should be enough to cover his 'mount legal fees'.

That is for DA to decide. Promotion in any establishment let alone the army is just not by the passage of time. There is the active service aspect - postings, examinations, courses, etc that his colleagues undertook to scale the ladder.

My guess is that it would be handled ceremoniously. Retirement with a rank elevation. That is how most politicalised service men ended.

I'm in the field so can't confirm anything but Dokpesi should remember one thing. His media outfit will transcend governments. Those who pallied with rogue regimes in the past are in the dustbin of history today. He should realise he is not Dangote selling cement and sugar. The articles of his trade are truth from a pure conscience which is not tradeable.
On the Gbenga Aruleba issue.. I will encourage Commentors to GET details before running their mouth. As a journalist ur not supposed to play partisan politics or report biased news or join gangs with any faction in politics...

What I learnt is that:
Gbenga Aruleba brought a social critic,One Mr Akinnola, on his programme. The social critic took his time to insult the government particularly on the news of the release of Al-Mustapha. The man even said Al-mustapha was released to get Northern sympathy in 2015.. Unfortunately, Aruleba didn't control the critic.

Dokpesi didn't like the show considering the effect that will have on AIT reputation.
So what is wrong with whatever repairs of reputation needs to be done. When people are invited is it the sole responsibility and liability of the anchor to vett. I think this is just cutting of one's nose to spite his face. Get Gbenga to apologise and move on. Except if Dokpesi was ordered to.

The South-South can only get better because of this. I predicted this kind of upheaval in the regional polity. I'm totally against consensus. It doesn't benefit us in this country. I just hope the energies dissipated by both sides of the argument can be channeled to better governance. Once again, another benefit of the GEJ presidency and why it is important for all regions to get a shot at power. It just demystifies the whole thing.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Use Of Virtual Holy Scriptures - Good/bad? by Reference(m): 2:36pm On Jul 14, 2013
The simple answer to this is - no effect whatsoever. The Scriptures whether on TV, radio, tablets, book, newspaper or toilet roll remains the Word of God as long as the texts are recognizeable.

However the bible makes it clear that when people, brethren are gathered a new dynamic operates under the canopy called love. Thus if you love your brethren you will not do things that will cause offence leading to his fall. This can be the clothes you wear, the display of wealth or the display of sophistication (which can often be misinterpreted).

There are also issues of obedience to authority which God takes seriously. If your assembly doesn't permit it just don't do it.

The scriptures does acknowledge advancement in mankind during the latter days but is not specific on what is in order and what is not but if you are a proper christian whose conscience is alive you have the Holy Spirit to approve or disprove what you wear, use, eat or do.

Politics › Re: Will Loans From China Salvage Nigeria's Infrastructural Deficits? by Reference(m): 8:30pm On Jul 13, 2013
Development comes when leadership rallies people to confront their common challenges, whatever they are. It is then resources can be harnessed. It is often said about this country that our problem is not money, it is poverty.

We donot lack the funds the Chinese provide. In fact we donot lack the technical know-how. What we lack is the will to prioritize our resources and this takes a focused leadership that knows and leads by example and not one that finds itself tip-toeing through dirty laundry in search of help.

I've often said it. With a population in excess of a hundred million, a quarter of a million graduates a year, all the natural resources you can imagine and a total lack of any index of development, it should not take a brain surgeon to tell leadership that they should just put people to work.

It is the people that should build THEIR roads, their refineries, their hospitals, their power plants, their airports, their dams, their homes.

But where we collectively accept to spend our money at Shoprite and ask Julius Berger to build our toilets, then poverty, ignorance and slavery will never be far away.

Of course Dangote took a loan from his uncle but he was FIRST a darn hardworker with a smart nose for opportunity. His uncle did not build him. He built himself. Today he can pay back whatever interest has accrued. Will Nigeria ever be able to repay the Chinese. I mean really repay?
Politics › Re: Will Loans From China Salvage Nigeria's Infrastructural Deficits? by Reference(m): 8:01pm On Jul 13, 2013
Yes you can just like you can take loans to grow a business but the question remains, should we be doing this. Is this the way to develop. Is this the way America became industrialized or China for that matter, I think not.

My view of this is clear. Just as democracy is of the people, by the people and for the people, development likewise should be of the people, by the people and for the people, no matter what.

Development should be people-centric. If a group of people want or need a road they must have the capacity to build it and the cost awareness to value it. It is then their appetite for imports and luxuries can be tempered by the realities of acquisition and maintenance.

When modern civilisation came to these parts, our fore fathers liked what they saw and embraced it. They literaly built their churches, schools, cobblestone roads and bailey bridges with their hands and the little farm produce they gleaned to sell. Then all the white man brought was knowledge. Some of these structure remain standinp today as a testament to the value people placed on them because their sweat mixed the mortar.

That is how America was built, China during the cultural revolution and pre-second world war germany.

No country can develop another without the active participation of its inhabitants. Its a pity this is an electronic forum where space is limited for proper explanation.

As a matter of fact if prediction was a biblical virtue, then knowing how man thinks:

He is unlikely to repent till moments before his demise.
Faith will be of little or no effect. As a matter of fact, God has handed over His authority and become redundant in that person's life.

God will give you no more information of your life's path than a software company will publish its source code. It doesn't make sense.

God LEADS people to righteousness the way a seeing man leads the blind, the way a shepherd leads his flock. One step at a time. It is a blind man that needs God, needs faith and puts his absolute trust in the one leading and has a REASON to love who is leading.

I cannot see what predictions or so called prophecy does to enhance your relationship with God.
Politics › Re: Al-Mustapha Visits TB Joshua Immediately After Release by Reference(m): 1:54pm On Jul 13, 2013
I will continue to say this to all sincere Christians.

Look unto JESUS, the author and perfecter of your faith.

Discover, nourish and keep a PERSONAL relationship with Him.

Test ALL 'Spirits' (powers, wisdoms, devices, images, devices, kingdoms) by the Word. 'Wash' them with the Word.

Its a jungle out there and our adversity has blended into the trees waiting to capture even the most hardened soldier thoughtless of hungry little lambs.

PS. This is not an attack on anyone. Its purely a defensive posture.

glathis: Romans 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
the word of God is not only from the BIBLE, it can also be from prophecy and even testimonies.
if u like believe because there is no point judging for God
Don't mix prophecy with predictions. Prophecy is what the Word of God says. Prediction is saying what will likely happen. The Word of God has no me, you nor Al-mustapha in it. There is where man mixes things up.

Before Jesus came God spoke to 'a select few' because He had no channel to the majority. Jesus came and ended the office of the prophet. While in the flesh Jesus answered every question men had but if you read your bible well you will realise he was always 'wary' about 'things to come' always leaving that to the Father to decide.

The office of the 'prophet' these days is fully occupied by the Holy Spirit (to the pleasure of the Father) for three basic reasons.

One. To ensure that ANY one who believes can gain access to his thoughts.

Two. So that his thoughts are communicated purely and without bias. This was a recurring problem in the old testament.

Three. So that the products of His thoughts, the reward of your faith, the glory accruable goes to Him alone. i.e. So it does not become a business venture.

Now looks at these things in proper context.

Oga. Christians do not predict the future please. Things are revealed to us by the Word and explained by the spirit. And it comes stage by stage as you follow in faith. Sorcery is not christianity. Christianity is not magic or spiritism. Period.
