Chartey: Some people just take joy in displaying their ignorance. It is not a Jonathan or even a Jonathan-initiated project. It is an ECOWAS project and it has been in the works for many years now. Funding is from "development partners" (presumably China). If any country benefits most, it should be Ghana because the road will be across it's whole breadth and it will have the most number of towns and probably toll-gates on it.Well am glad you said toll gates and you may as well add check points. That's good for business, fantastic for trade. |
CFCfan: The high-speed rail can be built alongside the highway, just like the Lagos-Badagry expressway. What do you want high speed rail lines for. If you want to get there yesterday, fly. An air ticket will be cheaper but when you want to kick start development trade is key and trade is all about moving goods cheaply from factory to market. Trade first. Pleasure comes later. Oh, I forgot. This is africa. Pleasure first, business later. |
bigass: Are these people dreaming or what? this is 2013!They are supposed to be talking about high speed trains! Jonathan has taken his cluelessness across the border. Besides why not finish constructing the major roads at home before venturing abroad.Honestly I just don't understand this thinking and why our leaders are so bedeviled by short attention spans. This President knows that he has a raging fire storm of bad roads back home that seem to defy every solution. He knows that moving goods and people by road is the least cost effective means and he knows the west african link is primarily for trade which means cargo, not tourists nor kids going to school so why not just put your thinking cap on add one and one together and build a rail line instead. They say the cost of doing business in africa is high. Can you see why. Poor policies and inept decision making. |
frosbel: This Sunday in Church , take your 'Tithes' and Offerings to Church. That is a deliberate disobedience of scripture and you know the consequences. Tithes and offerings go to 'His store house that there may be meat (provisions) in His house'. Not to anyone's pocket. Tithes and offerings are provisions to keep His house functional. The running of the church, the propagation of the gospel. Jesus did not dip his hands into the treasury to feed the multitude. He rather took another seperate purpose driven specific offering of five loaves and two fishes for that. The early church in Acts encouraged people to contribute for distribution. No where on record do you see tithes being distributed. In Matthew 26:6-13 you can see that Jesus made a clear distinction between giving to Him (who is the head of the church) and giving to the poor. They are not the same thing. You cannot substitute one for the other. Verse 11 obliges you to the poor but Verse 13 says an offering to Jesus sends the gospel around the world. Whatever spirit seeks to curtail the funding of churches under any guise cannot be from God. |
They should just check all the high profile cases he is handling to find the trigger finger behind the smoking gun. Country full of lawless people that want the best. Tommorrow they will say law enforcement is non existent. |
U jst de find teams wey de do well wey go fall, u b wintch. Hala madrid, man u nxtm cr7 d best nw
Pally, rewind two years back to the Classicos and hear comments about Barca and Real. You will think other clubs should just pack up and close down. But the fact is that the more you play a better team, the better you get and it is only a matter of time before your abilities are mastered. Milan and Chelsea beat Barca for the same reason, over exposure. I've watched football long enough to know it is cyclic. That is why Pep quit. He was mentally exhausted constantly trying to keep ahead. It is not easy. Good experienced coaches like Sir Alex do not seek invincibility status. They win one year and lose the next but they don't let a pressure streak build. Inexperienced coaches like Wenger sought invincibility, got it but burnt out mentally and has not won any trophy since then. Barca is burning out. They need fresh impetus and it starts by lowering expectations and the pressure on players, coaches and fans to win and win all the time. Life is not like that. |
Said it two seasons ago when Madrid was hammered left, right, centre. Its only a matter of time before the key to Barca is found. There is nothing like a perfect team, a perfect play or a perfect plan. The sights of the world will now shift to the Spanish national team as tacticians plot to unseat them come Brazil 2014. |
moonraker: This government has got its priorities screwed up.Baggage belts won't work in Nigeria. They are not for our travelling culture. Can't and won't ever last. |
take dat: We should be thinking of how to concession out our international airports, instead of wasting public funds on a new car park when the one in use now is yet to be fully utilised!I don't get it. Does MMIA have a carpark or not. Because what I see is an open space looking like a market at best or a car mart perpetually filled with cars. |
asala1: What of the car pack at the MMA2 that is still under used? The fourth floor is mostly completely empty. Why waste money in building another one?Haba MM2 is miles away from MMIA. |
COOLDUN: This trade have reminded me of a friend who is very well to do, God fearing ,and respectful guy who is an importer , he has a company in India that produces clothes/wears and other items which he export to other West African countries. It boils down to what I said earlier. Preparation. Few these days know what a wife is, fewer know what role a wife should play and a miniscule number take time to develop themselves into one. So when they all hit the shop window you have that huge gap between adverts and the genuine article. Not blaming them entirely. The society fosters upon them huge and unrealistic expectations. |
Viktallbay: I hope u stop laughing long enough to actually learn from d articleCan they. Most of them have pet fantasies of who or what they sure wished to look like. Just that most cannot organise it. A cursory glance at any crowd on Nigerian streets will reveal the problem. That is the plastic, polyester external application types. |
How are you familiar with bullet size? Are you a police man?
No. Let's leave it there. Thanks. |
dayokanu: Late 30's? Are you not in your early 60's?Dayo and Sag match up. Today must be good friday. |
kandiikane: Ah but why raise your arm to fend off a bullet? He could have docked or tried to run( not saying he would have survived by doing that) but I don't see how that would have been an instant reaction.Just reflex. May have seen his quarry late, very late. |
Ehrrrmmmm how do you know this information?
The size and shape of those lacerations I can see. Can't see the left side of his skull though. The fatal shots probably hit him there. |
femmyb: Ambulance are not meant for transporting dead people, its to carry injured people to the hospital, nowhere in the world is ambulance usedBoy. You're misfiring here oh. |
kandiikane: Probably but I was just thinking if that was not the only shot that hit him, then there would be obvious bullet holes similar to the ones in the arm. His artery was blown off and may have died from the excessive bleeding. Slitting your arms alone can be fatal imagine a completely destroyed one. Those injuries are consistent with multiple hollow points fired from a 38 or 9mm within a ten yard envelope. Must have recognised the eminent threat and raised his arm to ward off the obvious. A head shot. No chance of survival. |
Kobojunkie: It is ? ROFLMAO!!!This is exactly the slippery slope many people tumble down. Let me say this loud and clear. Christianity does not exempt people from trouble. It doesn't excuse people from challenges. It does not shield from temptations and it cannot prevent trials. The Christian experience is all about triumphing over... The faith it sells is all about believing for.... The peace Jesus gives is NOT like the world gives even if one million pastors say so. God instituted marraige in circumstances that He found at the beginning before sin came into this world. It is divine and without the individuals involved being put together just as it was in the beginning any union cannot fulfil His purpose. To God you may just be friends. It is not about feelings, love, conflict, challenges. It is about purpose. |
Akpan107: It has failed already... APC is not to the interest of Nigerians, but a sectional and a tribal interest. PDP remain the only National Party in Nigeria! If you want to form a party that would be accepted by all Nigerians, form National one and not a regional party. APC will never see the light of the day.See what I mean. Nigerians have more pressing 'concerns'. Its the country's structure s.tupid!! (if you know what I mean) |
take dat: The merchants of doom, hate speech dispensers, bigots, armchair critics and spectocrats who wants the best but sees the worst in the entire political process and participants, those who have the solution to all the problems bedevilling the country but do nothing about them. The aforementioned are the ones who are tired of PDP but remain politically docile while waiting for a party made of saints and perfectionists to challenge and wrestle power from PDP. Instead of them to show support for the alternative party which will make PDP take Nigerians seriously between now and the next elections, their job is to keep condemning the alternative, which will make the words of an erstwhile PDP chairman, that PDP will rule Nigeria for 60 years either for good or bad because he knows that Nigerians only pay lip service to change!Hmm. Getting there but not quite. Who said Nigerians are ready for change, tired of corruption. That is gross misunderstanding. |
take dat: Anyone suggestion in mind? Or is it a Jonathan and Anenih? No. He means bigger alliance like maybe between PDP, CBN, ERV and SWF. Oya na. Try these parties for size. P.S. ERV na External reserves and SWF na Soverign Wealth Fund. Das right. Pension fund na small boy. |
Feed me more: The highlighted got me Roflmao!I tell you. Nairaland is such a fun place if you have the time to sit back and read some of these comments. I'm neither here nor there on this one but I believe it is a sure sign our democracy is growing. Now that we can celebrate achievement while at the same time exact pressure for more. Hopefully the threshold for good governance will keep rising. For the Fasholites, I hope this sort of frenzy will not be repeated and for those under the yoke of bandit chief servants, you've seen some good, now remove your task masters today. |
CFCfan: 32% is an improvement, but it's still kinda low.Very low. Are subsidy projections going up or down. |
So many soccer kids here. When you've watched football long enough two things happen. First, you quit being a FANatic and appreciate the game, the players and accord it respect. Secondly, you'd realise like in life nothing lasts for ever so you put things in perspective and learn not to lend your whole emotions to it. Even so called Barca fans criticise Roura as if he has not been part of the institution that made the club what it is today. They criticise the play as if they didn't know all these years Barca is a 'method' club. They criticise the players, their positions, skill and commitment as if that package of ideals is ever enduring. The fact is that nothing lasts for ever. I said it two seasons ago after Jose's first season that it is a matter of time before their rivals master their tactics. It is easier to replace than to upgrade. That's why Pep quit. Keeping the club ahead nearly killed him. So I don't think it is fair to criticise the club, coach or players. Diminishing returns has set in. It is natural. The bar was simply set too high. In the future more modest results should be expected. In football there are no perpetual winners. P.S. Barca played wide against Milan. Milan just defended wider. No tactic in football is sacrosanct. That's why it is the greatest game on earth. If one team kept on winning all the time will you still watch the stuff. |
Abou Nazir: In other news, it's COPA DEL RAY not 'copa dey rey'. Moderator(s), take note. Hala Madrid.Ha. Another version. I tin say na 'del rey'. Or make we try NYSC 'corper dey reign' or for Ghana black stars, 'copper dey reign'. Anyhow. |
HNosegbe: Good points, but how many of us are willing to occupy the National Assembly until these changes are made?None of us am afraid. We just expect the appointees to commit administrative suicide and vanish. Are we not the ones who will shout federal character. Are we not the ones crying marginalisation in the Super Eagles. Back to topic. The only thing that's music to my ears is the drop in imports. Hope it can be sustained. With most of the hardware for the IPP's paid for, I don't see what should be 'chopping our dollars." |
HNosegbe: A typical "establishment" candidate who was "selected" in order not to rock the boat, while untold acts corruption were perpetrated under his watch. But did the anti-establishment, anti-corruption regime that followed last. We've had a taste of both sides but seem not to be able to make up our minds. Just like the recent dispensations. OBJ - too harsh, too vindictive, not a democrat. Well in steps UMY/GEJ, - too soft, too slow, pliable. Look, Nigeria has had all the kinds of leaders a nation will ever need to thrive. I think we should be looking elsewhere for solutions. How about a bit of consistency amongst the led. |
Real happy for Danny. Doesn't feature in many films but his films have averaged 70% acceptability. Great actor. Watchable character and a Brit for that matter making Oscar history. |
azpekuliar: Automotive:Hmm. Lolly. Soft p.orn won't fly on today's streets. |
nagoma: The fridge you need is thermcool!!"We call them thermocool refrigerators, you call them beautiful". The same guy that advertised UBA I think. Tate sugar produced by Tate & lyle. Big rivals to St.Louis. |
