PoliticsRe: IBB Has Been Our Pillar Of Support - Abiola's Family! by remarkD(m):
First of all... i don't find it upsetting when he or any other person calls us (Igbos) Jews, sarcastically or otherwise...

Second of all, I am surprised you see him (Ola) as an intelligent fellow....
(Kinda makes one ponder your own intelligence lol just kidding ya there....)

and finally... if somebody is getting his knickers all tied up in a knot just because another person says he or she is the best in everything... what is there to do... really... like do you want to appease the person by saying "Okay, we arent good in everything; so stop hating us... " ... or... what? I mean, you really don't have to bother engaging him if he say he doesnt like it you or whoever is boasting too much...

(Isnt it the same type of thing when a child is always the top of the class... that his or her parents will be proud and tell his friends or whoever cares to listen that his child is a straight A student etc... its just something you're proud of... its looking like if you are successful, trouble, not successful, still trouble.... you can't please everybody all the time, man.
If as an ethnic group, the Igbos have made it through thick and thin to a point they believe they've accomplished a lot on their own.... getting upset or reactionary to it is simply juvenile... pre-juvenile if you ask me. and need I mention that its not everybody that has that boastful ability, in that, some are reserved or shy, possibly humble too and not boasting all the time. Matter of fact, i put it out there that Igbos don't boast all the time; if Ola has any thing to the contrary, he should state it make we see.

I end with the tale of the lizard that fell from an Iroko tree... (in Igbo) ma o nweghi onye ga-aja m, maa jaa onwe m.

Obu m n'ekwu,
Remark D; Nwa afo Ibeku.
(Hmm that kinda rhymes, should put that in an Igbo rap lol).
(btw anyone wanting to learn Igbo fluently, drop me a line. Cheers)
druid06: You're using the noun ''JEW'' in a sarcastic tone when referring to them. You don't know how upsetting it is. BTW, it's not everyone in the South-East that agrees with the belief that we all come from Israel. Even if it's true, what's the big deal about it anyway. I'm not sure where you got the idea about the South-East brethren being too pompous about being the best in every works of life but from coming from a biased individual like you, I'm flattered you think we're better. So as a gentleman that you are, I advice you to change your attitude and perception about us. It's unhealthy. Whatever wrong any Igbo brethren might have caused you to have such grievances, I urge you to let go.

Nwanne m nwoke, you and I have had our eyes opened on this NL on how the Nigerian media had (previously) been dominated by the south-westerners aka the Yorubas and how they'd told their stories... which, without challenge, became the generally accepted story/stories..... but truth, they say, can not be hidden for ever... you can only tell a lie for so long... and fabricate and turn truth on its head for so long before the truth gradually prevails... (and stands back up on its legs lol).

What i am trying to say is to approach anything you hear from a Yoruba with a grain of salt. Especially, especially... especially thhose that had been told and narrated before the (re)evolution of the internet gave you and I and all Nigerians acccess to voice out things they way they are; and not just the way it seems to appear.

I know you are balanced in the head, but just thought i'd remind you... Cheers.

P.S. I took a minute to give it a second thought and went through all i'd heardpre-Y2K about the dealings of the Yorubas and any other ethnic group in Nigeria.... not necessarily trying to see who is at "fault" ... but check how those "stories" or "news" depicts the two groups in the story and compare to other stories as well....

ACM10: This is appalling! Not fair to the memory of MKO Abiola. He must be extremely agitated in his grave. Can you imagine his family dinning with the person that put in motion the events that led to his death. Does Abiola family have any atom of shame? This is as low as they can get. This is very bad. So irritating to ear. Coming from one of the leaders of Abiola family shows the extent of this rot. Decency demands that they stay clear of Babangida and his agents. But, he praised his dad's tormentor-in-chief to the high heaven. I spit on the bad elements of Abiola family.

wanna get this straight... when the complained of that Igbo ladywas doing mago mago in her recruitment and wanted her fired... when she left .. is that when it was discovered the people seeking to be promoted werent qualified? or what?

I know for sure they recently found how a high immigration officer allowed some lorries enter unsearched and say it was "cleared from above" ... isnt that vindication? i

i didnt follow that recritment saga.. so if anyone can, please fill me in on what eventually happened...

It seems a very easy scapegoat or reason to complain is simply touting difference in ethnicity in Nigeria. Our diversity instead of being used tor and to strenghten our country, it is a divisive, very divisive tool... may god help us all...

- Remark D
ochejoseph: President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed his
dismay that the most senior officials of many of
Nigeria’s military and para-militaary security
agencies are incompetent and do not merit their
positions; thus leading to a dismal performance
by the agencies.
The president, who stated this while inaugurating
the Police Service Commission on Wednesday at
the State House, Abuja, called for a total overhaul
of the security agencies, and charged the
commission to flush out the bad eggs in the
police.
He charged the new police commission chairman,
Mike Okiro, and the other five members, to instil
discipline in the force and ensure that
promotions are done purely on merit.
Mr. Jonathan said indiscipline and irregularities
in staff promotion exercises were a major
problem in military and para-military agencies.
“I believe there are two things, one is the issue of
discipline, and so one of the responsibilities of
the Police Service Commission is to instil
discipline. Another thing I believe is that people
who have no merit to certain ranks are being
promoted to those ranks.
“One of your responsibilities is to handle
promotion. I believe with you only those who
merit or deserve promotion should be
promoted. Those who deserve to be disciplined
or even dismissal must be disciplined,” the
president said.
Unqualified immigration
To justify his claim of incompetent individuals
heading Nigeria’s security agencies, the president
made reference to the recent screening and
review process of six candidates for the post of
the Comptroller General of the Nigeria
Immigration Service. He said most of the six
were not only undeserving of the position they
were nominated for, but should have been
sacked from the service.
“Few days back I did approve the new
comptroller general of immigration, …, of about
six that were to be reviewed, some were sent
from the ministry, some were picked from
amongst the most senior.
“When we reviewed the six, from my intelligent
investigation most of them were supposed to
have been dismissed. But those were the people
that were being forwarded for appointment as
Comptroller General of Immigration. Among
them only one is qualified to even stay and serve,
others ordinarily are supposed to be dismissed
from the records,” the president said.
The President had on Tuesday approved the
immediate retirement of five deputy comptroller
general of immigration service. Those affected
were R.B. Musa, Denen Akaa, F.T. Mologe, Umar
Suleiman, and Kuso Abubakar Khalil. It is not
clear if or why the president did not demand that
the officials be prosecuted for whatever crimes
they committed to warrant their dismissal.
Mr. Jonathan said he believed that the
immigration case was similar to what obtained in
other security agencies.
“I believe that the story of Immigration is the
same with most of our services. I believe that is
why the performance of some of our military and
para-military officers is abysmal, because the
yardstick being used for promotion is not based
on competence, merit and performance.
“And that is one area I believe you (the police
commission) will go into. People who are
promoted to assistant police commissioner and
above must merit the rank. If you don’t merit the
rank you should be retired from the service
because is better for you not have enough
manpower than for you to have viruses and all
kinds of characters in the police force,” he said.
The president said that Nigerians were beginning
to lose confidence in the Nigerian Police.
“You will agree with me that Nigerians don’t have
so much confidence in the Nigerian police but
Nigerian police are good. The Nigerian Police that
work outside under United Nations are highly
honoured, highly commended and Okiro will
agree with me. But once we come back home that
is not reflected in what we do,” he said.
Advised to sack senior officers
The president also revealed that he was advised
to sack all senior police officers working at the
police headquarters.
“Even now that we have challenges, you will see
that, especially when the Police Headquarters
was bombed, some people came to me and say
Mr. President sack all police officers working in
that place from Assistant Commissioner of Police
and above.
“I did not sack any because of that incident. But
that was the advice I got; that if you do that
subsequent people that would be posted there
will sit up. How could the police allow their
headquarters to be bombed by a very local group
called Boko Haram?” he said.
Mr. Jonathan also advised Mr. Okiro and his
team to review the command structure in the
police.
“The Federal Executive Council, maybe in the
next one or two weeks we, are going to look at
the report because we want to come up with a
white paper on the police reform report.
“But since we have just appointed you we give
you privilege to look that document before we
come out with a white paper. So that if there is a
suggestion that you will bring, you bring it so that
it will be part of the white paper since you are the
one to manage the police.
“It is only proper that you and I will think alike
and be on the same page, because we need to
reform the Nigerian police for a better service
for us all. I believe with you working with the
Inspector General of Police and other senior
police officers, Nigeria police will be a better
force,” Mr. Jonathan stated

It beats me how Nigerians whom don't seem to have any mental deficiencies can think Buhari can win an election in Nigeria... i mean, how is this possible? and i ask in light of his antecedents and all the dirt many believe he has on his hands... the last election mayhem (and loss of innocent lives including corpers serving their country...) being in my opinion, the most "impactful" negatively, that is.

and what are his chances in the middle belt, south-east and south-south political zones? is Buhari sellable to the masses in Prt Harcourt? Aba nko? Onitsha or Bayelsa? not to talk to in Cross Rivers, and the Christian population (that aain view Buhari as a religiously intolerant fellow) in Kaduna, Benue and other states in the middle-belt.

Anyways, nothing i am saying is new, but the botttom line (and original intent) of my comment is to state that the northerners, the so-called concerned youth should not even look the way of Buhair if they want to campaign for a northern presido; i suggest they pick a candidate that has a

Okay...

So your point is.... ?

What is your message? is it to the war-drumming people or to those that end up fighting the war....

Thing is if you don't turn anything into Biafra/Ojukwu and co. you're never happy. its kinda funny actually, cause you clearly have a problem. an uncurable problem.
You love and you hate them at the same time... (and i say this because how come you can't seem to get the Igbos off your mind for once? how many of your threads and post this week were devoid of Biafra/Igbo-related things?

O gi ji onwe gi, Mr. Man, abi na Mr DisHonorable.

Garri the 1st: Ibos are still weeping from the effects of the Biafra war.... While Ojukwu, Achebe and other Ibo elites came out unscathed, millions of Ibo kids and women who weren't there when the war was declared lost their lives.

Ojukwu's wives, children ad family members fed fat while biafran children starved to death to be used as bargaining chips and propaganda tools. The children who died weren't the ones who beat the war drums...were they??

Ojukwu, Achebe and other big men got their properties and money after the war, but the ordinary people got only 20pounds..
.
.
.

Asari, Boyloaf, Ateke, Tompolo etc are enjoying dividends of their militancy. Juicy contracts, political patronage etc, but the people of Odi, innocent men, women and children who lost their lives are gone for good, while the region remains in abject poverty and neglect. Thousands of Niger Deltans lost their lives, but those who beat the drums of war survived to tell the story and even enjoy a better life for self and cronies afterwards..

Those who beat the war drums aren't the ones who suffer when it starts!!

I have spoken!!!

These NL Yorubas never fail to disappoint. If not sly, cunning and mischeivious, how else can you describe the act of using a faceless forum (where you can't legitimately tell the ethnicity of a poster), where the total number of the posters is less than 0.1% of Nigerias population, to arrive at the conclusion that south-easterners hate Tinubu more than south-westerners in Nigeria.

This is not the first time and i know it wont be the last that they make ridiculous claims and conclusions that is totally anchored on false and inconclusive information. it is called a strawman arguement and i can post threads upon threads on NL where they engage in such intellectual dishonesty.

There has recently been lots of posters on NL that "take up Igbo ethnicity" and trying to break the current relationship between the south east and Jonathan... or the SE and SS... i can count 4 or 5 threads right off the back in the past week alone...

it seems that they know, the opposition that is... that if the south east gives their block support to GEJ again, the opposition will find things very difficult...

that is why they're trying to find away to make at least a lil inroad into the SE and wrestle it with Oga Joe...

As someone had said to y'all on here a while back.. if the opposition wants to win... they should field an Igbo candidate....
The next prsident will definately need some amount of support from each and every part of the country... but if he or she has close to 0 ... it will but be another crying on the mic for Buhari... (if he is chosen that is... ).

Clerverly: So your suggestion is that we keep trying the same thing over and over again, expecting a luck to swim our way? We can't we try the opposition and see whether we can get our respect back even though we may not win, at least it would send a very strong signal that we are also a major determinant in the power calculations? Because the way the igbos are going ahead to endorse Jonathan even when his Niger delta tribal warlords are yet to begin, is to say very pathetic. And also tends to affirm the widely held wrong notion that we have our price! Afam think!

Ijeoma Obasi: A major recruiter for Boko Haram was arrested in Maiduguri, the military said.
The Nigerian military said on Wednesday that it has dislodged all the terrorist camps operated by the Boko Haram in some areas of Yobe State and arrested 49 members of the sect in various operations in the state.
The military also said many Boko Haram members were fleeing to neighbouring Niger Republic through Nigeria’s porous borders.
The interior ministry had said in May that Nigeria had about 1,500 illegal borders that are poorly manned.
In a statement by the Director of Defence Information, Chris Olukolade, the military said the suspects were arrested in various locations in the state by the Joint Task Force following a tip off by some locals.
Various weapons including AK 47rifles, locally made pistols, and ammunition were recovered by the troops during the operation in Rugan Fulani, Arikime, Afghanistan and Ngandu villages.
The JTF team led by B.E. Inyang said all terrorist camps had been dislodged while some of the terrorists fled towards Niger Republic.
It, however, said some criminals still terrorise the state under the guise of Boko Haram.
“The DHQ team was also informed of a trend whereby some particular crimes have now taken the place of terrorism as the criminals now resort to brigandage, robbery and attempted assassination of business rivals,” Mr. Olukolade said
Mr. Olukolade assured residents of Yobe of safety of lives and property and encouraged citizens with vital information to provide the soldiers with them as they rid the state of the insurgents.
Success in Borno too
Mr. Olukolade also said a key terrorist who specializes in recruiting young men into the Boko Haram has been apprehended by troops in Maiduguri following a tip off.
He said the suspect, who allegedly also watches over the insurgents’ armoury, was arrested in one of the cordon and search operations by the Special Forces.
The soldiers also arrested another group of 5 insurgents, all from Niger Republic. They were arrested when troops stormed their hideout at Mallam Fatori as they attempted to escape in two Toyota Cruiser Jeeps, Mr. Olukolade said.
He said the soldiers have continued to patrol the notorious Sambisa forest and are also cordoning the Alou forest and Gwoza Hills.
“More abandoned vehicles, weapons and other items are being recovered in the camps of the insurgents,” he said.
He listed some of the recovered arms as rifles, double barrel guns, various charms and amulets, machine guns, as well as pairs of camouflage uniforms, bows and quiver and assorted rifle magazine. Others are handset, walkie talkie, car number plates and some food items.
“Abandoned vehicles recovered include a Golf Car, a Honda, Customs Pickup Van, Honda (2003 Model) and a Volkswagen Monte Carlo,” the military spokesman said.
Mr. Olukolade said police stations are now being reopened in some parts of Borno State.
“At Kirenowa, detachments of Police Anti-Terrorist unit have been deployed to complement security in the area,” he said.
The spokesman said the defence headquarters had organised a tour of the operational areas of the JTF for selected local and foreign Journalists. He said the tour is to ensure that “the media have a first-hand information on the situation in the operational areas.”
The federal government officially declared the Boko Haram as terrorists on Tuesday.

Come on, man. You don't owe that guy any apology whatsoever. Nadda! I mean, he didnt even acknowledge your humility in apologizing for what was clearly a free-for-all fight. In the opening pages of the thread, nobody asked for proof of anything when his fellow Yorubas were having a field day posting crap all over the place... but when a few Igbo posters and your humble self not only brought the rain down on their parade, but began sending them off the field one by one (lol Ijaw citizen ran away not being able to say even a word in Ijaw or state when Igbos stole their land; the cheerleaders that were chanting "We love this thread! We love this thread!!" were no where to be found... probably tried to go get a mod involved; and DK was reduced to one-liners) ... and that is when Gbawe the hypocrite felt he should intervene to save the oily behinds of his brothers, wanting to bring in "rules" into the e-fight by whining about what he believed to be lies (and the so called lies were reasonable questions our dear Ngozi posed; but in his brain, asking a question = making a negating statement).

Ironically, isnt that the kind of thing we see happening in the country today? in the past when they gave all the top posts to unqualified people just because they are the same ethnic group, and now if an Igbo person... competent or not (they wont even check) has Igbos employed, they start whining.

and the most hilarious thing is ... they're serious when saying all this shizz.

Makes one wonder, really ...
Never seen someones success causing heartache for another...

Thats how some stereotypes are formed, when tommorrow comes and based on such jealousy, they are tagged as backstabbers etc... they'll start making noise again... "Define backstabbers... etc etc"

How long shall the prayers go on for?
One group is praying and willing for peace, but the other throws caution and peace to the wind... shedding blood and bringing grief and sorrow to families whose "crime" is living in the same country with the blood thirsty vagabonds. So do you think continued praying for peace will change anything? Maybe it will... but which proactivitity (if that is a word),in one way or the other, the chances are better than just not doing anything but pray.

I honestly will like to live in Nigeria... diversity can bring lots of benefits... but with our history, and continued waste of innocent lives... Biafra is what we yearn for.
Peace unto you. - Remark D
bcomputer101: What are this Juveniles called Biafra talking?

Your father Ojukwu try it and he fails.

Let pray for the peace of Nigeria and make Nigeria as one!

and @topic, her is my two sense... there is little doubt that 2 state governors can build that bridge... given the millonaires and billonaires in anambra... privately... but i believe that FG should do it so state governor can use the money for other smaller projects...

http://www.nigeriahornnewspapers.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=662%3Asam-mbakwe-international-cargo-airport-&catid=44%3Ascience&Itemid=56
The history of Sam Mbakwe Airport (formally known as Imo Airport) as well as it's operational status shall continue to generate mixed feelings amongst the Imo citizenry. For record purposes, the airport was single - handedly built by Imo people through a fund-raising committee chaired by late Senator Evan Enwerem, who then the Chairman Board of Directors of Nigeria Airports Authority.
In fact, every Imo citizen, home and abroad, through Town Unions, was made to contribute through what was then known as Airport levy. Even school children and the unemployed voluntarily contributed towards the project in accordance with an I.B.C jingle that said "one naira is not too small for an Imo airport". All payments were duly receipted for. I still have mine up till today.
This zeal of contributors in ensuring the realization of the Imo airport project stemmed from a general feeling of marginalization of the Imo people by Federal Government, controlled by several military juntas including the short term of Shagari administration. This marginalization was very clear and was meted out to Imo people with such impunity that the Federal Government during the period was constructing airports all over the country. You can imagine State capitals such as Yola in Gongola State "blessed” with a standard international airport with little or no traffic nor economic value. The authorities, out of political persecution/ marginalization became myopic of the economic maxim, viability, when establishing a business venture. Flight frequencies to such unviable airports were maintained inspite of poor load status. Meanwhile, 80% of passenger traffic to and from Port Harcourt international airport came from Imo.
Little wonder Port Harcourt had the highest number of daily flights in the country then. The Imo Airport, which is now christened by the same Federal Government as Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport had its inaugural flight on 14th August, 1994. In fact, I was a member of the technical crew along with co-pilot Nnodim from Ngor-Okpala, Capt. Henry Omeogu from Isiala Mbano, and Capt. Akosim from Isuochi as the Commander (Skipper) of that maiden flight into Owerri airport. In fact, on final approach, co-pilot Nnodim out of excitement showed us his family house at Ngor-Okpala few nautical miles away from the runway threshold. It was such joy and fun throughout the flight from Lagos that we saw the flight as a dream come through for our people, The aircraft, a Boeing 737-200 had full load of passengers comprising mainly, Permanent Secretaries, Directors in the ministry of Aviation, Nigerian Airways Ltd,, Nigerian Airports Authority, military administrators, captains of industries and other V.I.P.s. Twenty minutes after we touched down, the presidential jet (Flight NIGERIA 001) carrying the Head of State, General Sani Abacha landed soon after, the airport commissioned by Abacha.
A bridge is not more difficultto construct than an airport, do y'all agree? (I didnt even know that people stating the Imo airport was built completely by Ndi Igbo was ... literally true... from scratch...

I am not sure if inviting Abacha to come and cut the ribbon was a good idea if he and his hunta was leaving out the geo-political zone (south-east).

See as citizens took their destiny in their own hands to get something they really wanted. Has this happened anywhere else in Naija? whether under a civil/democratic or dictatorship rule? how about even in the rest of Affrica?
I am really proud of being an Igbo man; and hearing of or knowing such things like the achievement of that Imo airport in a country like Naija which seems to have a curse on it given its retarded success as a prosperous nation... is not a small something o! Igbo KWENU!!! heheh...

I know how other Nigerians will view such an achievement, majority of the Igbos that have lived amongst them or interacted with them know their mind and to a degree, their feelings towards the prosperous Biafrans; and the funny things is that when the Biafrans congratulate their kinsmen and encourage each other and themselves... the on-lookers to success will pull out their "You guys brag alot" card....
and after a lil while... they'll pull out from their behind their false statistics and white lies to try and deceive people... nah wah o!
