biodunid: Bode George cautions Obanikoro over attacks
on December 19, 2014 / in News 1:05 am / Comments
LAGOS — Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Bode George, has called for an end to verbal attacks by Obanikoro.
George: Soon, FG will resolve Diya, others’ rights issue Bode George The statement reads; ‘’One has refrained from engaging Senator Musiliu Obanikoro despite his gross and alarmist provocations. I have deliberately remained distant and quiet, ignoring the stark obscenities of a desperate and obsessed man who is apparently incapable of absorbing the reality of his defeat by a well-bred and better man.
‘’For Obanikoro to claim in sheer ludicrousness that I, even remotely, identify with any intimations of violence is utter lunacy and blind, vindictive madness. Surely, Obanikoro is possessed and obsessed. He needs immediate psychiatric treatment. He is a desperate sinking man, grasping and thrashing in self inflicted chasm.
‘’ What is the pedigree of this young man who has abandoned the typical African deference to Elders? We know who sprung from violence and banditry. We know whose antecedents reek in noisome, vagrant, untidy ruffianism.
‘’ Politics is not a do or die affair. No civilized person with impeccable pedigree will seek a tacky refuge in destruction and ruin simply because he has lost in a free and fair contest. Obanikoro should go quietly into that good night if he means well for Lagos.
‘’ Enough of his desperate tantrums.’’

Anyway, I still believe nobody is buying anybody.
Peace. When someone puts a post making unfounded allegations that impugns our collective integrity as forumites, what do you do to such? I would even suggest going forward that any poster that post such without verifiable evidence be banned for a period of time. |

onatisi: listen we both know how the game is played. When AD was in govt in the south west ,you dare not mention pdp or even support them in public but did they lose or not?when pdp was in govt in south west states ,you dare not talk against them but yet ppl voted them out! In the south west the mere fact that ppl agree with apc members views at newstands or bukaterias doent mean they will vote for apc. If u really want to be in tune with things don't base ur opinions on what ppl say at busstops or newstands ,yorubas are peace loving people and they will do anything possible not to pick a fight so if u tell them apc is the best they will readily agree but once u turn ur back they will yimu at u. That is yoruba politics for u.in yoruba politics when ppl are shouting and hailing u be very careful there is 80% possibilty they won't vote for u,but they will tell u what u want to hear. I hear you sir. The elections are around the corner and we can put your hypothesis to test. May God spare our lives till that time. |

onatisi: first of all don't take the loud noise and opinion of just 100 monikers on nairaland here that belongs to maybe just 10 people as the general stand of yorubas on buhari. Secondly, there is no way buhari can win in the south west except maybe it is rigged for him by apc governors. Thirdly pdp still remains the party of the yoruba majority, but yorubas are very enlightened and mature when it comes to elections, they have the capacity to vote for different parties at each level in a particular election. The problem pdp has always had in the south west is candidate and that can be seen in the case of ekiti and osun. Anytime pdp presents a popular candidate acceptable to the yoruba man ,they vote enmasse for pdp eg ekiti. In the case of osun, many osun indigenes are already fed up of apc but because the candidate presented by pdp is not popular they decided to vote for apc and even despite that pdp was still able to pull over 200,000 votes. apc is currently facing a battle of survival in the south west ,the party is hugely divided and many key figures have left, there is no way apc won't drop one or 2 more states in the south west. In the case of buhari, forget the fools shouting buhari name here on nairaland all day,the points against buhari is more than the points in his advantage. I can tell u that buhari is not accepted to the majority of yorubas .a candidate like atiku would have given pdp serious problems with a vice in the mould of oshiomole but buhari and osinbajo ticket is just as if apc leaders are been paid to lose that elections . I read your long post all the way to the end hoping at some point to detect a hint of sarcasm...but found none. I therefore concluded that you were very serious in your analysis of the Buhari, his party the APC and their chances in the upcoming election. I consequently submit that you sir, do not know what you are talking about. I am guessing you live outside Nigeria. |

It has started.... First Metuh has a problem with how long it took Buhari to select a VP candidate. Now this joker of an OP is here questioning his age. I am surprised PDP is yet to raise questions about the seeming discrepancy in the man's surname!!! @OP So just because you finished your o ' levels at the "young" age of 35 years, you assume everyone should be like you right?? You feel because you wrote your o ' level 12 times before managing to scale through almost becoming a career student, we must all have had the same experience right? Na wah for you ooooo!!!! |

I think it is an attempt to balance out the ticket so that religious bigots will not continue to use their shallow minded views to rob the nation of the opportunity to have Buhari at the helm of affairs. 2011 is now history...2015 is ahead and holds a lot of promise for the Buhari/Osinbajo ticket. Even President Jonathan and his team know that they have a true battle on their hands this time because for one, GEJ does not have a Tinubu playing spoiler with Southwest votes this time around...I may be wrong |

It is wishful thinking for anyone to think they can impose Sharia on the whole nation in a democracy, especially in a country like Nigeria.
I am sure Buhari knows that and will not even try to do that. But if he does, we will deal with that matter when it becomes an issue.
Until then, he has my vote. Even if I was going to let anyone talk me out of voting for Buhari in the next elections, it definitely wont be a duplicitous turncoat like Femi Fani Kayode. |

great1: reflecting back on the speech that Muhamadu Buhari gave last night, I have every reason to cast doubt that he never paid out bribes to politicians to vote for him. I believe on his behalf other politicians would have dolled out millions of dollars to greedy delegates to vote for him... I have every reason to question his mandate and whether he is the messiah to save Nigeria..
In 1983 he single handedly created the problem we are experiencing today by tampering with a democratic government claiming to be a hero. This dude is 75 years old. I'm sure Amaechi is only using him as a vehicle to get to Aso Rock and replace Jonathan. But I rather have GEJ voted in because he is trust worthy and he is the Leader we need. Not some old looking scarecrows with missing tooth coming to tell us Nigeria is corrupt, when he was the person who brought corruption to Nigeria...
Perhaps if APC had picked Kwankwaso, it would have been much clearer for them to win, but picking Buhari is the worst mistake they've made. I rather not VOTE than to Vote for the same person who Killed my uncle because of his political hatred for minorities.
Goodluck to them.. You don't sound like you ever owned an APC membership card...which makes me question the integrity of the rest of your post. Goodluck to you too. |

I wonder what it is about Nigerian politics that makes people lose their sense of reasoning.
First of all, like Obasanjo rightly pointed out, Sharia as a system of justice exists and is enshrined in the Nigerian constitution.
Currently we have Sharia courts overseen by Khadis and Grand Khadis...it is not a new introduction.
Having said that however, I don't understand how a anyone will believe that any leader can just wake up and announce full sharia for a country like Nigeria.
It is a democracy for crying out loud guys!!! Apply common sense I beg. |

Politics › Re: PDP Lagos Flagbearer Jimi Agbaje Picks An Igboman as His Running Mate- Ifeduba by Reptyle(m): 2:40pm On Dec 09, 2014 |
Mr Ifeduba please edit your thread title.
You made it sound like Agbaje had announced a running mate.
Announcing an Igbo man could be a double edged sword.
On one end, it might position the PDP to ride on the votes of the Igbo populace resident in Lagos, to Alausa. On the other hand, it could mean the PDP will have to run a "Christian-Christian ticket". While the average Lagosian might not have a problem with that, the teeming muslim population of the State could feel alienated, especially if the APC fields a muslim running mate. |
Politics › Re: Why Lagos-PDP Rejected Obanikoro - Ogunlewe by Reptyle(m): 1:48pm On Dec 09, 2014 |
The truth is that Ambode would have decimated Koro at the polls.
With Agbaje, it would be a more even battle pitting Ambode with the support of the formidable Tinubu political machine against Agbaje's charm and youth appeal.
Kudos to the Lagos PDP leadership for correctly analysing the situation. I hope they can find a way of pacifying Koro so he does not pull a "Gbenga Daniel" on the party. There is no denying the fact that the ex minister has his loyal crowd and could play a spoiler's role.
A popular yoruba idiom says "Kaka ki eku ma je sese, afi she awadanu ni"
The elections in Lagos will be very well contested next year.
May the better man win it! |
Politics › Re: Lagosians Only: Abaje Vs Ambode Who Will You Vote For And Why by Reptyle(m): 9:41am On Dec 09, 2014 |
oscarforreal: The situation is very dire in the sense that both candidates are credible. Both of cause certain factors would come to play here. Without not wanting to be sentimental here cause I am supporter of APC at the presidential election, I am convinced Jimmy Agbaje would make a better candidate. Ambode with his wealth of experience would have had an edge but of course the endless list of political heavy weights waiting to feast on the state treasury if elected would deny the state too many infrastructures that would have benefited the local populace.
So I will give my vote to PDP at the state level and APC at the national level. That's my humble take on this. Thanks. So you think Jimi Agbaje does not have his own "endless list of political heavy weights waiting to feast on the state treasury" to worry about? So you think it was by his own political ingenuity that he was able to defeat Koro's political machine? Don't forget he only recently joined the PDP to run against a Koro that has been nursing his ambition and putting structures since 2011. Don't be naive my friend. the situation in Lagos is such that the "godfathers" have become like the proverbial tsetse fly that perches on the scrotum...there is almost no way of getting rid of it without doing untold damage to your balls. It will take a lot of wisdom and balls for any politician to rid himself of the godfather palaver in Lagos. |
