rickkid: And you think that's gonna cut it?Well the truth is that a lot of innocent Nigerians have lost their lives by way of this kangaroo courts set up by these militias to justify the pay and support they receive from government. Someone needs to tell their stories too. |

Yellow journalism. Ogun State is barely an hour away from Lagos. Why don't you go and inspect the bridge yourself rather than depending on "reports reaching us"? |
I support the postponement of school resumption. However, a government that is serious about curbing the spread of the deadly ebola scourge should have also placed an embargo on avoidable public gatherings till October or November at least. Anyway, I do not blame the rally organisers. It is the people who troop out to such rallies that should have their heads examined. |
Valentinooo: I thought you already have a captain doing that already, or do you still need another captain for the job?Lol! I agree with you on Idris Wada...such a huge disappointment. Abubakar Audu still holds the record as the best performing governor we have had...and even he at best could be regarded as mediocre when compared with other States. |
1United1: Shut up! Wait for the PDP primaries firstTrue. After the PDP convention, those who feel played out will troop to the APC. The APC and the PDP are one and the same. Please vote individual candidates based on their track record and accomplishments, in 2015. |
Tom Ikimi like Fani Kayode, Ojo Maduekwe and Jerry Gana are very unstable politicians. Their only motivation is power by all means...so no surprise here. |
One of the best public officers we have ever had. So sad to see her go knowing how much more she could have accomplished in her service to humanity. May God forgive her her sins and grant her eternal rest. |
saintikechi: even if you give them anambra's oil, they still cant do anything with it.Sadly I am going to have to agree with you because it is the bitter truth. All you will have as a result of oil exploration in Kogi State are wealthier pot bellied crooks in power. |
thwarrior72: It is simple, Kogi people fail to detach themselves from the grip of core north, who sees them as a subject/minority that must not be allowed to live to they full potentials. Please the situation in Kogi has nothing to do with any of the above. We (I am from Kogi) have just been cursed with one inept government after another since the State was created and a largely ignorant pool of voters. What has our affiliation with the north got to do with the fact that a person charged with the exclusive control of the State's resources cannot harness same for the benefit of the citizens? Kogi State is blessed in all ramifications but we just need one man (or woman) to steer the ship of state in the right direction. All we have had is just one illiterate or semi-illiterate running the affairs of the State so far. Is it not a shame that in a State that can boast of a huge number of intellectuals, the best governor we have ever had in the area of performance is Abubakar Audu? |
yungEX: The story is a lil bit diffrent in satelite town o bruh cos dey jus started last week & I been shocked we now get ova 18hrs of electricityI testify that Satellite Town, Lagos has RADICALLY improved in the last one week. I have barely touched my supply of petrol purchased last week. It is a fantastic development and I hope it continues. Highly commendable. |
@Deronik I however agree with you that we have to stop helping this evil terrorist spread their agenda of fear. |
dekronik: Thank God we are alive. But the armed forces can actually dispel this rumor by simply addressing a press conference from the secretariat of the local government or the emir's palace to prove to naysayers that federal troops are fully in control of the area. The onus is not on the terrorists to prove to you by showing you pictures of flags. The onus sbould be on our defence forces to assure us that they have the capacity to protect us and have done so in this regard. |
"Tactical manouevre" AKA retreating from the enemy....afterall, he who runs away lives to fight another day. We believe you Defence Headquarters. Only next time, tell the boys not to retreat into another man's land. I saw those Camerounian special ops guys in a video on the internet...and they weren't smiling. What if they had mistaken our boys for a fleeing pack of terrorists and opened fire on them? That sure would have sparked an international incident. |
tochukwuifeduba: As a matter of military strategy its pertinent the army continues its tactical withdrawal from towns in North East Nigeria and allow Boko haram to seize and control territories. It is views like yours that make skeptics suspect that this government is tacitly tolerating and encouraging the upheaval in the north because of the 2015 elections. Some have argued that for as long as the crisis persists, there wont be elections in those areas, thus whittling down the numbers of expected anti-GEJ votes. Operation Black Crab ko, operation red Crayfish ni ![]() |
Goodluck to Mr. Mba. I only hope the new man is as articulate as Mr. Mba and brings as much or even more finesse to the role. |
So Ribadu is now in the same party as Fani Kayode, Alams, Bode George, James Ibori, Patience Jonathan and co.....na wah o. Smh. |
From this story, it is clear that the arrested fellow is no terrorist...just another hapless victim of our growing national paranoia and fear of anyone that answers a Hausa or Muslim name. The way terrorist cells are structured, there is no way a foot soldier will have the kind of details this "terrorist" is reported to have given the police. Foot soldiers are usually given the barest information to avoid them singing if they fail in their assignment and are taken into custody. What you don't know, you can't disclose. Besides, that device the guy had around his neck looked more like some discarded vehicle part than an IED. E be like say Naija police don beat nonsense and bastard into the poor guy body, e don dey tok nonsense. ![]() All the same, kudos to the security men for been on the alert. |
Eldavido1: Hyundai sonata 1.5m cheap is u ask me!I don't think they will sell the locally assembled Sonata for as low as 1.5million naira. The prices internationally range between 21k - 28k USD minus cost of importation and clearing. Truth is that a brand new car trumps a tokunbo of a similar brand anyday. I just hope Stallion will not be selling stripped down versions of these vehicles in Nigeria. I especially hope they are not cutting down on standard safety features like Airbags and ABS. Fantastic development though. |
Ngeneukwenu u r a marrafackin mad man....or woman!!! ![]() |
MRbrownJAY: @OPYou mean not the type that wears mask and arrests opposition politicians at midnight or issues flippant statements on national tv? Alas we are done for ![]() That's the only type of secret service we have ![]() |
Nairaland....the new bastion of comic relief for Nigerians home and abroad ![]() |
I assume this "suspension" is just something to jolt the striking doctors into returning to work. I hope it works...the strike has gone on for too long. Successive governments have shown that the only language of negotiation they understand is strike. So we are going to continue to endure these inconveniences for a long time to come. |
I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist. But there is definitely more to this whole Ebola hoopla than meets the eye. |
Nayoanalytical: The best thing is to put Lai Mohammed behind the bar,he talks too much.During OBJ's regime, could he have spoken this way?He should thank his God that Mr President is a gentleman.I listened to her on Channels TV's Sunrise programme this morning. Sadly, while Lai Mohammed may be given to crying wolf sometimes, he wasn't too far off the mark this time. She sounded a lot like Fani Kayode with her flippant responses to the posers thrown at her by the presenters as she attempted to defend the DSS' activities in Osun during the allegations. She made wild allegations against the APC without any verifiable proofs. If Marilyn Ogar is a representation of the intellectual and operational quality of personnel we have in our elite secret service, then it is no wonder we are where we are security wise. May God help Nigeria. |
Obiagelli: i will give up on nigerian politics if this guy goes to the pdp.I gave up on Nigerian politics a long time ago. |
1wolex85: simple question, nobody has answered.Don't mind all this jokers pulling statistics from Okonjo Iweala's powerpoint presentations as usual. |
JEITO: Sanusi lamido sanusi following the footsteps of Abacha since 1759All he did was conclude the work that Soludo started during his tenure. Na person like you go baff salt water to prevent Ebola... ![]() |
