And the woman in question, why can't she approach the farmer and offer her services to work on the farm for a day in exchange for 3 bunch of plantain. Is that not better than this disgrace? But of course nobody likes hard work.
Yes hunger is bad, but we can't continue to inflict evil on ourself in the name of hunger. The farmer is not the government. He's also working hard to survive this anti people regime.
The only reason I pity this woman is the fact she chose the harder choice to survive. She could have achieve same result by selling her body which is far easier but equally pathetic anyway.

If that is the farmers profit for a day he is certainly in the wrong business.
And for you to ask a human being to sell herself is monstrous . Would you ask any of your female relative to resort to that ?

My friend received this offer letter from a company based in Abidjan. It is one think for a minister to say that things should be done and another to counter the bureaucracy that already in place. It will take firing people and rehiring . What he means is that we have what it takes for passports to be ready in 2 weeks but people - you and I will be the stumbling block.

By the way Korea still has a compulsory military service.
Replacing it with what you’re suggesting means that the local business in rural areas will not get the manpower they need .
Tell me how many people born in the cities move to the rural areas ? It’s the reverse. Everyone is moving to the cities big cities and nobody is moving to the igarra areas ( just as an example )
The NYSC allows you to mingle and see first hand with people from different areas of the country. I never knew how big Nigeria was until I left Lagos for NYSC in Benin State. Was posted to Auchi Poly ( see babes … )
Supported the local economy. Those restaurants were always happen when corpers came.
Or when I helped with traffic control during the busy Agbe Market day.
Or told drivers to slow down as an Road safety commissioner on the Auchi - Benin Road.
So what was achieved you may ask
1. That one year of service provided invaluable physical growth but also work experience. Where I could make mistake and be corrected with no harm.
2. Made friends
3. Discipline - those 3 weeks on camp was what I personally needed.
4. First experience as a salary earner. ( if I had my way I’d make it bi weekly instead of monthly )

I’ve shared on a different thread but her name was Vi… ( that’s all I am giving you). 1994 at Ifako Ijaiye. Beautiful pretty looking girl . Light skinned. You would think that being pretty meant you had nice hygiene. I was in for a shocker .

No 2. Fast forward to recent years.
