Charly boys point was proven right on the first page of this thread.

Some will eventually turn it into a political issue ( billyonaire)

Some will turn it into a religious issue

Some will disagree with the write up because they have question Charly's sexual orientation. They don't like gays so nothing good could come from gays.

many more will just act stupid deliberately.

At the end, the most important revelation of this write up will be useless.

What Charly is saying is:

The youths already have the tools to effect a change through social media. If we direct and use the same zeal used on ''oga @ the top'',on some of the terrible situations, bad leadership, corruption, bokoharam etc.
Maybe we will be able to effect a change.

Oga at the top should never have received massive attention if we are indeed confronting our problems.

Business › Re: NCC Releases Interconnect Rates For Telecoms by rman: 7:28am On Mar 25, 2013
What NCC have reduced is the interconnect rate.

All operators pay interconnect rate when a calls from their network is conected to aother network eg MTN to GLO, ETISALAT to AIRTEL.

It used to be arround 8 Naira per minute and now it is 6 Naira per minute.

Most opeartors make at least 2 naira per minute on each call ( within or outside their network )

What this simply means is that the operators can afford to make inter network calls less than 10 naira if they want to.

Calls will not be 6 naira o, unless you are only making intra network calls.

Pray: I don't play Baba Ijebu, but i also don't see anything wrong in it. If Playing baba Ijebu is wrong then every promo from telecoms to brewers etc u spend anything on that gives you the option of win/lose is wrong!! Chikeena!
Promos are completely different from gambling.

Promo is just encourage you to continue to pratronize a service or use a product. It is a strategy used for customer retention and when a new product is introduced to a market. Promos give you immediate value for money spent win or lose.

Gambling offers you no service or product.

Education › Re: Osun Distributes Free Tablet-Computers To Students by rman: 6:53am On Mar 20, 2013
I don't know why people are critizing this.

It is like giving each students a mobile libary that can be updated regularly. It is also easy and friendly to use.
Education › Re: Osun Distributes Free Tablet-Computers To Students by rman: 6:51am On Mar 20, 2013
Chai!! Nigerians are in deep trouble...

Osun state just added atleast 10million US dollars to their recurrent expenditure.

Let me explain.. So tablets were handed to students in secondary school today. We all forget that tomorrow, this set would pass out and another would come and they too will need tablets as well. That means every year, osun will fork out millions of dollars to buy them tablets. If the state is that wealthy, then no problem, but you and I know that osun is far from that.

Secondly, what's the quality of the schools in osun state? Atleast rivers state governor has built solid structures and equipped them such that will in 10years, many sets of students will meet good schools on ground, what of osun schools? Rivers state even provides books and uniforms free to students as well.

40 million dollars would have set up a good statewide I.T structure in all the schools that would have served many students for years.

Tablets are like phones. They are good but come with issues. Some will break, some will crash, some will get damaged some will get missing. What service and replacement plan was set up for these tablets if any and how accessible is it to all osun students!? Wouldn't puting 100 internet enabled computers in all schools in osun state have been cheaper!?

I love this concept on its surface value, but in the long run, sounds like penny wise, pound foolish. This feels like a white elephant programme by this government and its sustainability is in doubt. Let's not forget that these are kids and they are very likely to damage these toys and I wonder if osun government would replace them when they get damaged or lost.

Another thing is if they have adjusted the osun syllabus/curriculum to factor in these tablets. How about electricity to charge them!? Remember these are public school students and are most likely rural dwellers who we all know have minimal access to electricity, water and roads. And what about the specs of these tablets!?

A few years back, some states gave out laptops to students. How is that programme today!? Are they still giving out these laptops or was it a one time government promo.

Let face it. I'm happy for these students. Atleast even if its for just now, they all get to enjoy owning a luxury toy. However, if the schools in osun state are shiit and the quality of education rubbish, then this move is like putting fresh paint on a damaged building. You can't leap before you walk and the cost implication might cripple the state should this be sustained.

My 10cents..

#Madam Caro, abeg give me 2 shots of kinkana make I take wash eye first..
The students will give it back after SS3 so it can re-programmed for other students.

This concept is like an electronic mobile libary that can be updated regularly and friendly to use.

The contract also covers providing support for a number of years.

It is a great concept Okija
Education › Re: Osun Distributes Free Tablet-Computers To Students by rman: 7:28pm On Mar 19, 2013
I have seen and held this device and I can boldly say it is the best thing to happen to secondary school education since democracy started.

The key points and features :

It contains waec And jamb questions past ten years.

It contains 17 secondary school subjects and practice questions after each chapter.

Dictionary, bible and quran installed.

Two games loaded ( scramble nd chess)

It shows assigned students name when powered.

You don't need Internet to use it

Videos for practicals will be loaded on it very soon.

These are just a few.

Mind you. Every students gets one in senior secondary school.

Learnt Oyo and Ekiti will soon follow suit.

I give Aregbe kudos for this.

Anyone that discusess GEJ with the folllowing people Billyonaire, sincerenigerian, ifihearam, pointb, thelastpope, taraqa, jamine etc on this forum is merely wasting his time. To them GEJ is the perfect president that can do no wrong.

They were in full support of the following obvious GEJ blunders:

I DONT'T GIVE A DAMN ( ASSET DISCLOSURE )

DAME AS PERM SEC IN BAYELSA

UNILAG/ MAULAG ISSUE

RECENT DAME HEALTH ISSUE THAT TURNED OUT TO BE TRUE and now,

ALAMS PARDON.

These are the few that readily came to mind, there are many more.

Read their opinions on the few topics above and you will clearly read some of the most ridiculous argument ever put forward in support of obvious blunders from the office of the president.

To all those trying so hard in trying to let these guys see reason, you are just wasting your time. Read their opinions, smile and engage other forumites with balanced sense of reasoning on issues concerning PDP and GEJ.

I have noticed the ACN have their goons too, but they are actually smart enough to recognize a bad decision from their subject and go into hibernation mode on such topics.

shymexx: Were they bums or not?? Answer the question, mate...

Which of them was/is a starter for any NBA team except Emeka Okaforhuh Yinka Dare played in the D-league for almost all his career - the rest are not even worth mentioning.... Everyone knows that Olowokandi was a bust but he still had a better NBA career than all the bums you listed!!

They are/were all BUMS!!! End of story!!!

He might end up being the best African player since Olajuwon - only time will tell...

He still has Manute Bol, Nikembe Mutombo, and Serge Ibaka above him...

Did you see how improved his jump shot from last year?? And how he's a defensive machinehuh

At worst, he'll be a Tony Allen type of player - and that's a regular and better than every other basketball player out of naija since Olajuwon... grin

Olajuwon achieved greatness, he wasn't even that great in college - he just had the raw talent and improved on it... So, who says OLadipo can't do the samehuh

2009 NBA draft was also meant to be a "poor draft class" - but look the players who came out of that draft class:

- James Harden
- Jrue Holiday
- Stephen Curry
- Blake Griffin
- Tyreke Evans
- Ricky Rubio
- DeMar DeRozan
- Brandon Jennings
- Jordan Hill
- Ty Lawson
- Darren Collison
- Taj Gibson
- DeJuan Blair

etc etc

Most of these guys from the "poor draft class" are now franchise players and they're all starters!! Save that crap for the birds! undecided
Funny guy! You are young, and you think you know. It takes a lot to impress me when it comes to basketball.

Only, James harden, Stephen Curry, Jurue Holiday and Brandon Jennings are stars. The others are all about athletism, Rubio cant shoot so he will easier to guard when he slows down too.

There is a reason why Steve Nash and Jason Kid are still in the NBA while Allen Iverson is gone.

shymexx: So, playing for naija basketball team loaded with bums means you know basketball, nohuh SMFDH

Listen, I could care less if you're Yoruba or an alien - I don't care about his tribe.... When it comes to sports, I could care less about the tribe you're from... I'm the same guy who talks about how good Osi Umenyiora and Nnamdi Asomugha are in the NFL... So, save that tribal bs for the birds..

You mentioned a bunch of role players that never achieved anything both in college and in the NBA except probably Emeka Okafor(he didn't play for Maryland btw, he played for Connecticut with Ben Gordon)... And Okafor is too slow/sluggish and unathletic for the NBA....

Victor Oladipo on the other hand is the only contender for college basketball player of the year with Michigan's Trey Burke...

Which of the bums you listed ever got to that in college??
Calling pro's with professional contracts bums shows you are still a kid.

You history on nairaland shows you need some growing up to do.

Yes, Oladipo is the best African player since Olajuwon.
Happy now?
Only time will tell who is right or wrong between us.

I stick to my earlier assertion that he will end up as a role player in the NBA.

I'm way too experienced not to know. I ve watched almost all the games played by Indiana on national TV going back almost a year now because of him.

Do really understand how great Olajuwon was?

I hope you know Olajuwons Draft class is the best ever while this Draft class will generally be referred to as poor. I can authoritatively tell you that Oladipo will be a lottery pick, but he won't be in the top five in this poor Draft class.

Is Oladipo good? Yes
Is he the best Nigerian talent since Olajuwon? No.

Sports › Re: Victor Oladipo: The Best Nigerian Basketball Prodigy Since Hakeem Olajuwon by rman: 12:54pm On Mar 16, 2013
He is good but not the best basketball talent since Hakeem the dream.

The leap from college to NBA is big and only very few make the same impact they made in college in the NBA.

Julius Nwosu, Imeh Udoka, Emma Okafor( Maryland, played with Steve Francis),yinka Dare(newjersy nets, late),Mohammed Acha(Spurs, late), Andre Iguodala, are better talents when in college than Oladipo but just average in the nba.

Oladipo is good but he not Nigeria best talent since Hakeem.

For those saying talent after seeing the 360 degree fast break dunk, to succeed in the NBA takes more than that.

He is just going to be a role player in the NBA, his max talent level is like a Tony Allen ( Memphis) or stephalosa ( okc).

Phones › Re: NCC To Launch Mobile Number Portability On March 26 by rman: 7:36pm On Mar 08, 2013
The question we should first ask ourselves is: Why do I want to move to another network while retaining my old number (Number portability)?

If it is for cheaper calls: The rates of all the operators for similar service rendered is quite similar across board and very very close, you won't notice much of a difference in savings on calls etc. In fact, I feel it is very close to zero.

If it is for quality of service: It all depends on your location and the resources they deployed there.eg, GLO may be great in Lagos and terrible in Ondo

For all those claiming MTN is dead, I can confidently say that they will benefit more, why? Because they are the only one that have positioned themselves strategically for these number portability that I am aware off. MTN has spent close to 1billion dollars on network modernization and expantion and they are still doing more. 90% of the fibre project across the country right now belongs to MTN.

I know the others are trying but the truth is that GSM network is all about capacity you can carry. All the operators currently have collectively around 15,000+ base stations ( sites ), more than 7000 currently belongs to MTN.

So when you want to port to a network, do your research very well because you may actually be porting to a network that does not have enough capacity.

Everything is about service delivery and customer satisfaction and this a very good development.

caesaraba: Ha! This is the biggest insult to womanhood I've ever seen. It's like saying, "guys, chill. You know they are all sluts so why bother?"

Well, since the creation of banks, bankers have always been surrounded by money. Heck! Why should anyone blame a banker who steals money? After all, if it were the customers that were surrounded by such money everyday, they would have stolen all of it.

Saying you are emotionally detached in a relationship and cannot care less if your woman slept with anybody only means that you have devalued her to a common sex-starved animal who has no iota of control over not only her sex drive, but emotions as well. Man is territorial by nature.

You have taken a gigantic swipe on the female gender, their sense of judgement, value system, intellectual capacity and their humanity as a whole. However, you have sugar-coated it with the "gender-equality flavour" so much that many are unable to see this well-crafted insult for what it is.

Well, that's only one way to look at it sha.

To the ladies, you can follow the OP's school of thought and throw away one of the most unique values of womanhood..... and if anyone should raise eye-brows, please refer them to this thread.
