Sports › Re: Kobe Or Lebron -who's Going To Have The Better Legacy When It's All Said & Done? by rman: 10:41am On Mar 03, 2013
Mental tougness is the only area Kobe trumps Lebron hands down. Because, when the game is close and time is running out, THE BLACK MAMBA is way better than Lebron.

But in terms of complete package and efficiency, Lebron trumps Kobe. Kobe takes too may shots to get his scoring average and he is a ball hog too.

Kobe has more rings now and if their careers ended today, I will pick Kobe as greater among the two. We should also recognize the fact that Kobe's has always had better supporting cast. Having Shaq and the Gasol in their prime provides a serious competitive advantage.

Kobe is not a great teamate, critizing your coach and teamates in the media is not cool and he also appears a little arrogant.

Lebron is warm an is a great teamate to have.

Lebron will definately win more than one ring and at the current pace, he may turn out to be the most complete basketballer with on court efficiency that will be among the best three ever in the history of the game.

I GO WITH LEBRON!

Ikie: ...the way i see it...what issue does nimc intend to address?...to have a data base for nigerians' identity...now why was everyone who applied for the test invited to do the test??...cos everyone who applied is within the age group of 18 and 55 max...which is the active population of the nigerian economy...now if this population is compelled to register their biometric data before writing the test...don't you think they have succeeded in acheiving over 50% of their mandatehuh...the population left are those between the ages of 0-17 and 56 n above(all dependants who will be easily registered by the way)...this is just my opinion...and food for thought...
I am sorry but your analysis is wrong.

50%? Haba!

I don't think everyone that applied is up to 3 million. Nigeria's population is close to 170million (estimate).

Voters registration excercise will be a data base that will be close to your 50% estimate, not NIMC test for unemployed graduates.

kavey10: Are you high? A graduate must have 2years work experience with atleast 6months out of that in another COUNTRY?! Pesin no go do NYSC? IT na just 6months o!
The experience gathered two years or less after NYSC is still graduate experience ( insignificant ).

The fact that you don't have it does not mean everyone out there is in your category.

Starting you response with '' are you high?'' shows you are uncultured and seriously immatured. You are also not smart because if you are, you would still have gone ahead to apply and hope you are given a chance to prove yourself.

Pessimists like you will remain unemployed for a long time.

Someone on this thread already got a mail invite for a test.

The same script is been run over and over.

By next year, more of this kind of protests will be staged asking for Jonathan to contest again.

God always has a way to give us a chance to get it right, but the masses want t be held captive.

The politicians have won!

The masses have been so brainwashed and battered that WE are now the problem.
Phones › Re: Mtn-Nigeria’s Blackberry 10 Plans by rman: 10:03pm On Feb 24, 2013
A lot of BB haters think by telling others they are wrong, will somehow, make them feel they made the smarter choice.

People should by phone that serves their daily needs and suits their pocket.

BB Z10 is not meant for everyone. If you can't afford it, stick with what you think is fair.

Coming online to call a company dead or rubbish because you can not afford their product is childish.

BB Z1O can be compared fairly with SGS3 and Iphone5 ( two great phones ).

We can all come online and rant but the reality on ground in Nigeria's phone market today is that BB is still the number one selling smart phone.

With the Z10 they will probably win back some of the customers that wanted a powerful tool which the old BB OS7 did not deliver. It is not everyone that intrested in BIS.

Also, how many rembered when KITES were popular. Every quality nylon is a potential kite. The long tails and wings way up there when in flight is a beauty to behold. Yes, kids had toys then but we also created a few. Flying kites over bridges on the island was one of my favorite childhood memories.
Family › Re: Raising Kids Who Do Not Beg by rman: 11:30pm On Feb 23, 2013
I believe the beggers the OP wants us to discuss are really not the kids but adults that beg to take adavantage of people.
These group of beggers are all over the place and the rate is alarming.
Friends, Family, colleagues etc.
I once told a close pal that i could barely go through a day without meeting someone that will beg in one form or the other.

When I started paying attention, I realised majority just live way above their means.

A friend that is married with kids but still keeps two girlfriends n actually rented an apartment for one, he is always begging.
A cousin in school in Lag that is always broke, the day I entered her apartment, I could not believe how tastefully furnished it was, and she lives n flat. I stopped giving her money n now uncle is a wicked person.
I ve people that buy expensive stuffs (phones, clothes etc )and they beg u to help pay.
The list is endless.

Yes, if u ve, and u are absolutely sure the begger is truly in need, pls give. Sadly, a lot of beggers in Nigeria are just taking advantage of people.

chingyjant: I still stick to my kick against is analysis.Am not saying Profs don't make more than that.Afterall i had a Prof. way back that was in Government and we have the likes of Soludo and co that are Profs and had way much but my own argument is getting it through handout and sorting. It won't take long before other jealous Lecturers will write a petition against him to the school senate for immediate action. In addition his analysis means it becomes mandatory for every student in the Department to sort the same Lecturer which is not possible.Bros try to be logical in your argument and reasoning
Billyonaire's logical arguments on this forum are very few.
I am surprised you said he is one of the few you respected on this forum.
How is it possible for all a lecturer to have close to 4000 students sorting him alone?
His 50k argument is also flawed. I can boldly say, more than 50% of the students in Nigerian universities don't have that kind of money as idle funds for sorting.
Business › Re: Inflation Rate Falls To 9 Percent Today. Did you notice? by rman: 7:05pm On Feb 19, 2013
What they are simply telling us is that there is still inflation (prices of goods are still going up),but the rate at which they go up have only dropped or slowed down to 9%.

So, it is some kind of good news.

Prices will still go up, a few more people will just be able to keep up with it.

Current trend says otherwise.

Phones › Re: The Nigerian Blackberry Adventure - An Interesting Phenomenon by rman: 11:28pm On Feb 15, 2013
All I can deduce from all these Blackberry, Android and Iphone posts on Nairaland and other forum is:

-People always think they made the better choice
-They need to point out other made a wrong choice to validate their decision.

Use whatever suits you, we can not all use the same phone or be on the same platform.

Majority of the people just simply come to talk ignorantly and make general statements that is not true.

ENOUGH OF ALL THESE MY PHONE IS BETTER THAN YOURS THREAD JOR!

I can bet some of these state govermors have associations under their sport councils that will be told ''their is no fund for them''

The allowances paid these players during the tournament is enough.

All these donations would have made significant positive impact to sports like: Tennis, Basketball, weightlifting, swiming, squash, volleyball etc.

Oahray: Inasmuch as you have a point, look at it this way... Lets say she is all you say she is. In the long run, are we (the rest of us) truly better? What if she isn't pretending? Did you stop to consider that?

For those talking about past comments made by people about goldie, hating the hater is hatred also. Attacking someone for feeling bad about attacking someone else (pretense or not) does not make us any better than them. If anything, it only gives us a reason to feel bad later on.
If it doesn't, maybe we are worse than we thought.
I hope you know that most people try to project false image of themselves on NL.

Go through the entire thread again and you will clearly see she is overdoing it.

She is definitely over doing it.

One of the best pretenders on NL.

She was all over the ALUU threads too.

I am 100% certain she has not met Goldie is person before, so what's her hullaballoo all about?

If she is truly pained, she won't be putting so much effort into trying to make people on an anonyous forum think she is mother Theresa.

Efe Ambrose is the 12th player for Juventus tonight.

He gave away two goals and missed a free header.

His performance tonight is horrendous and it doesn't potray him as a player that played an integral part on our team that just won the Nations cup.

Scoreline sould have been 1-1 if he had scored and not made those school boy errors

Jarus: I'm always restrained from puncturing this, because a good number of my frends finished finished from Unilorin and there are a number of very brilliant folks here that finished from Unilorin (oyb, olawalebabs and co).

I'm from Kwara state and had my secondary education in Kwara state, and dare I tell you that all my secondary school mates who couldn't pass UME ended up in Unilorin thru all these remedial routes.
Stop contraicting yourself.
OAU, UI , ABU always require higher scores in UTME/JAMB to enter, that does not mean those that attended Ilorin did not pass.

I can boldly tell you that the end product ( the graduates ) from UNILORIN and LAUTECH can hold their own against any OAU graduate.

If you are really working in corporate Nigeria and have moved around like you claim, you will see graduates from ILORIN, OAU, LAUTECH , UNILAG ,ABU , UNIBEN, UNN dominate the workforce of top tier companies in Nigeria.

Politics › Re: Amanpour Interviews Nigerians In Lagos About Power Outage by rman: 10:07am On Feb 05, 2013
@ The pro GEJ group on nairaland.

A lot of tweets, and negative comments could not have been due to GEJ haters.

How come the few people interviewed have similar opinion?

The truth of the matter is that the conditions of living of Nigerians have not improved at all. We can not come online all the time because of political affilitions and gains to say GEJ has tranformed the country to eldorado.

All governments will have positives achievement not matter how terrible they may be, so GEJ will definately have a few positives no matter what.

Is the current situation in Nigeria what was promised 13yrs ago by democratically elected governments? The answer is NO.

Has GEJ done enough since he was sworn in 3yrs ago? NO

Like someone said in one of the comments on this thread? " when the country has truly been transformed, IT WILL BE THERE AND SO OBVIOUS FOR ALL TO SEE"

All the so called "haters" will have to say is move onto other parameters.

The fact that politicians still use roads, bridges, power, water supply as achivements shows clearly they are not doing much.(the ones in the 70's and 80's promised exactly the same stuffs)

A good example of a sector that has been transfromed is the TELECOMs SECTOR. GSM revolution is there for everyone to see. No hater can deny that.

When POWER SECTOR has truly been tranformed, generators will naturaly disappear at thESE small scale businesses: barbers, welders, carpenters, business centers, etc. The fact that all these samll scale businesses rely on generators majorly across the country shows we stiLl have a very long way to go.
