The mistake OP made wasn't even about food but his choice of drinks. The babe probably would have looked awkward drinking beer while her man was sipping water.

That's what ticked her off. He could have at least had an alchoholic drink if not beer.

I'm sure she needed it to get in a more sensual mood but he bleeped up.
Mr man, he did not fork. I would never go near a girl that drinks alcohol, neither will I take such serious, except to use and dump.

Our society is messed up today because we want people to join the bandwagon.

FamilyRe: Is using The Bible As A Moral Guide To Raise A Child Harmful? by robotix: 5:37am On May 11, 2017
Trudax:
I am not questioning the validity of anyone's religious beliefs, I am just examining the act of using the bible as a guide to instill moral values in a child through reading the texts to the child and allowing the child access to it.

I don't think the bible is the best foundation for developing a child's morality. Like I said in my thread title, I think it's a dangerous form of child abuse.

Now I am not saying the bible isn't an efficient mechanism to imbue good moral values in a child, I am just saying it's not the best and it's also not the most efficient.

First of all, the bible is very instructive. It dishes out morality on the table of transcendent authority. It tells you that you must do something because god wants you to. This is also what parents tell their kids. They tell them not to steal or lie because god forbids them to lie. I believe it's more effective when a child does something because he understands the reason for doing that thing, than when he does that thing because he's been commanded by an invincible being not to do that thing.

Secondly, I think introducing a child to the notion of hell is terribly bad. This could have devastatingly harmful effects on the mind of the child. Imagine the mental trauma a child could go through when he contemplates the possibility of going to hell for committing even the smallest of crimes.

Thirdly, the bible is replete with stories that purport to espouse moral values, but actually convey the opposite of progressive moral values.
Example is the story of Abraham and Isaac. What moral value does this convey besides the ethics of committing murder? How about the story of Lot's wife? I don't see what else it can teach a child besides imbuing the child with a maddening amount of fear and crippling submission to every ordinance of God, despite what those ordinances are.

And does anyone not see the exposing of children to all the death and killing in the bible as a form of child abuse?
Mr Atheist, I dare you to challenge the muslim and tell that their koran is not good foundation for their kids as a means of instilling moral values and see if you survive 24 hours.

You who is talking fail to realise that everyman has right of choice. Not everything is meant to be opposed because we have choice just as you have a choice to become an atheist that you are (don't deny it)

Learn to respect people's choice as long as life is not lost in the process.
FamilyRe: Expecting A New Baby , Need Shopping List by robotix: 5:31am On May 11, 2017
Onegai:
So an update:

Buy a seasponge for your baby. It's soft and will last a year or more (compared to those Gerber washcloths). Ours is still going strong. Expect to pay N750 for one big one. But do NOT buy it from the baby store or baby section of a place like Game. Theirs is N2300 and a regular type is N750. The difference is the word "baby" on the packet.

Sudocrem is an all-round good Zinc oxide cream (15%). Desitin as well (max strength is 40%). Zinc oxide creams are good for when baby has any type of rash. So rather than use it daily (they are not cheap), use either Vaseline or mix coconut oil and shea butter
as a cream and use that as a diaper cream. Then all you need is a small cup of Sudocrem that will last and only be used when rashes occur.

Aveeno, Sebamed Baby, Boots and co can be pricey for baby washed and shampoos. Johnson's is having quite some issues due to it being very harsh. May I recommend Dove Pure and Sensitive bar soap? It comes dermatologist and paeditrician-recommended and is paraben-free and fragrance-free. It is also cheap (2 bars go for less than N500 and will last). Compare that to Aveeno at N2500 per bottle.

Attend Children's birthday parties. This is a great way to stock up on stuff like plastic plates and spoons, stationaries and nice toys. I know someone who hasn't bought a pencil in 5 years for her kids grin and some party packs I've seen are ahmazingggg for great toys (computer games and art stuff and books). However, you also have to reciprocate and give nice party packs (no chinkele piece of N10 fried meat with one N5 pencil now grin)

The only medicine you should have is Infant Acetamophin (Tylenol) or Infant Aspirin (Calpol). Ask out doctor for the appropriate ages for either (one is better for newborns and the other works for babies above 3 months). Luckily, Emzor has started making Strawberry-flavoured Paracetamol, because Calpol's price is not for the faint-hearted

There is a company now making padded baby changing mats and it retails for N1000 at Game. So in case you have lost your baby changing mat or are using another bag as a bag, you can get one.
start a blog on this. Hian, you can write for Africa.

Then talk to him to apologise na. Because his wife accepted him back doesn't mean his children have to accept him.
If you feel so strongly about his abandonment, then let him know your grievances. I guess your siblings also feel the same way, so you guys should say your mind.
There's a proverb that says when you remove dirt from your eye, and you look at it, you're just showing your eyes what a mess its made.
Otherwise, you'll just allow resentment to build if you don't address the elephant in the room.
At least you've learnt an important lesson from him, - "how not to be a father."
Na so some useless father be. I have this aunt who took care of her children alone. I even used to think that they had no father.

One of her son is so rich now and all of sudden, this man has abandoned his house and now stay with my aunt all in the name of trying to help her cos no one is around. The son doesn't give him much, just enough to get by.

Thanks I've learnt my lesson. The hard way. Hubby too I guess.
This is the same people my hubby sacrificed all his pleasures for. Hubby even married late cos he wanted everyone to be on their own. God being my witness I never stopped him in anyway. I was only not comfy with the loans. And only him pays back.
All I can make out of this is that you and hubby are too kind and generous to a fault. PLEASE I beg you. PUT a stop to that that attitude. That's what ruined my late mother.

Any money you make should be for your own use and that of your kids.

My mother didn't have any tangible investment because of family. My mother died because she was duped by a bastard that she helped.

Learn not to please people too much to your own detriment.

Most of the families still wonder why we don't go near them. Why should we when we saw everything that they did to her? One of my uncle keep complaining lol. He would say "your mother was not like this, she was always carrying everybody along" eh uncle, thank you sireee. I have heard.

Me, I am just as soft as my mum BUT I learned not to ever listen to my heart when it seems like it would make me uncomfortable.

My elder brother went on what seems like a suicide mission, knowing how things are for him. Out of anger, I called my elder sister and told her that NOTHING will make me send money if he ever cries out and I have stood my ground. He asked for help some days ago and I refused to do anything about it. Not that I won't do it, it's not everytime you make life easy for humans. Once a while, give them the harshness of nature (mother nature isn't an all time pamper), act like you don't have a heart.
