Politics › Re: COVID-19: NIMASA Donates 20 Ventilators, ₦50 Million And Other Medical Equipment by saajus: 6:29am On Mar 30, 2020
You are right but desperate times call for desperate measures. 100k Ventilators @ $20k each is just $2Billion. Who told us Innoson can't partner with some Chinese and Nigerian companies to get the job done. Coronavirus will still be around for a while. So, we better start putting some things in order. If 10 Ex Governors in Nigeria are drilled, they will cough out $2Billion.

About fixing and using ventilators. if it takes a Doctor more than 2 weeks to learn or refresh his knowledge on how to setup/use/read ventilators, they need to send that Doctor back to school. The only problem is that there are some special cases where they need to open a hole in a patient neck to pass the tube. Opening that hole is a minor surgery.

HAHAHA, YOU THINK SEY VENTILATOR NAH TABLE FAN BAH?
BY THE WAY, HOW MANY NIGERIAN DOCTORS DO YOU THINK ARE CONVERSANT WITH VENTILATORS? MAJORITY OF THEM THAT WERE EVEN FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO SEE THEM DURING THEIR TRAINING DAYS NEVER GOT TO SEE THEM FUNCTION, LET ALONE USE THEM.
NOW EVERYBODY JUST TALKS OF VENTILATOR SO CASUALLY AS THOUGH IT WERE SPHYGMOMANOMETER. THE MAJORITY OF THESE VENTILATORS BEING DONATED WILL REMAIN IN THEIR CARTOON FOR SOME YEARS TO COME, WHILE OTHERS WILL CORRUPTLY FIND THEIR WAY INTO PRIVATE HOSPITALS.

Good job. We need to get at least 100k ventilators ready

Wow, thanks. I think I heard it from a TVC program, Journalists hangout. This your chart is even scarier.
maklelemakukula:
no offence but where did you get data that indicates Nigeria has done over a thousand tests?
As at 26th March Nigeria had done only 333 tests which is shameful, they haven't done up to 300 tests since that time considering how they keep feigning people's plea for tests.
Health › Re: Trying To Get Tested For Coronavirus By NCDC In Abuja: An Experience by saajus: 10:37pm On Mar 29, 2020
You are right Op. A lot of people already have it. We have tested just over a thousand, and we have 100+ positives. That's whopping 10%. God forbid, if we are going on that 10% rate, that's 20m of our population. Italy has 10%, Spain 7%, Iran 7%, United States 1.5% death rate. Those are advanced countries, imagine what could happen in a country that can't boast of 1k ventilators, adequate Doctors and Nurses, the death rate can't be less than 30%. 30% of 20m is 6m.
Our leaders have failed and "aso o bomoye mo". We need a miracle. Is either our immune system help us or weather that won't let the virus stay longer on surfaces or supernatural power or the advanced world quickly come out with a solution. In the absence of any of those, we are in a very big soup. Remember, vaccines take at least a year to pass several tests and trials.

Stay with him if he's ambitious. If he's poor and no ambition, think twice. Love should not be blind nowadays.
Ambition Test:
Is a graduate?
Is he trying to further his education?
Is he looking for a job?
Has he tried a business?
Is he acquiring new skills?

Forget the little he's spending on you, it could be an investment. Guys dey wise o, na u ladies blood dey run with emotions. Remember, poverty won't stop a man from cheating especially if the highest bidder comes. We poor guys are even more risky cos money truly change people. We have not been tested with money before so you've not really seen the true colour. "Reason with me, reason with me". Women should only reason with hardworking and ambitious guys, not the rich ones. Someone who is hammering a spot daily, someday he will breakthrough.

I said brilliant because I still follow the family. Who told you Malia and Shasha are living like celebrities. They live in the University Dome like you and I. Check Malia performances at Harvard and what Shasha is doing at UMICH. They didn't get into those colleges because their father was a former President. That could be a factor but their grades in high school and SAT scores are major factors.
The majority of celebrities are smart that's why they can even manipulate the media and sell you sand in the desert. They may not be smart in books like what you Nigerians are crazy about. That's why a great society is a balanced society. You will have Bill Gates and you will have Kanye West. They don't fill their society with only Kanye's

Man U won't pay him more than 120k if they have a plan to sign him. Considering his age, he should accept the Chinese offer. That's final cash out of 42million pounds. After-Tax, he should be having 25million pounds in his pocket. He's not the best player that comes out of Nigeria, but no Nigerian player in history made the kind of money he has made in his career.
He is a lucky dude. I love hard work but one needs a bit of luck sometimes to crown the hard work. Just 5 goals against weak teams, Ighalo is getting massive rewards, but the most skilful player out of Africa till date, JJ Okocha gave his all for Bolton then, Sam Allardyce rewarded him with a sack.
Education › Re: Is Spending N16M On A 3-Year Ph.D In The UK Worth It? by saajus:
We can't make a judgement based on half information. You didn't tell us your family background and your future plans. Maybe you are from a rich home that can easily pay 16m and come back to be a director of a top company in Nigeria. If you are from a poor or middle-class family and your plan is to stay-put after your program, you are better of going to Canada/USA/Australia.

Your permanent is sure in Canada after PhD. Canada is 100% guaranteed.

Your permanent resident is sure in the US if you can write and publish at least 5 research papers during ur PhD program, that will classify u as an exceptional student. That US PR category is EB1A or EB2-NIW. Another alternative is that you can get a job after ur program, get H1B and later get PR. If you know ur onions and go to schools likely to give funding, you may not even pay tuition for more than a year in an American University before they consider you for funding.

Your PR is sure too in Australia.

People are not finding it easy to stay over in the UK after their advanced degrees cos there are lot of conditions attached.

65% of Americans (230million) won't qualify for shishi.
95% of Nigerians (190million) will qualify for any relief pay
Unfortunately, that's the country we created, the poverty capital of the world. I am not defending the poor 10k Naira.

ifykris22:
10k ?? What will that do for 1 person in this country not to talk of an entire household...

Politics › Re: Coronavirus: Atiku Asks FG To Pay N10,000 To Each Household, As He Donates N50M by saajus: 8:45am On Mar 26, 2020
2 Trillion Naira ($5.2B). That's too small. I think the package should not be less than 50k naira each, that's $26Billion. After the relief pay, Govt must find a way to control product/service prices cos our people are selfish.
Also, about 5% of our population won't need any relief pay. It should strictly target the poor, middle class and dying businesses.

They are very stupid for returning. I'm confident they will be pardoned even if they overstay. They should have stayed put until this crisis is over or get tested at the airport before boarding. The result always comes out in a few hrs. It's even 45mins now, thanks to the new Korean test kit. I've been shouting since Feb that taking temp alone is not enough. Well, e don happen.

jayloms:
Unfortunately, they have a right to return to their home country. It is the selfish act of doing so we should be angry about. You know quite well that your home country cannot manage any major health crisis, yet you boarded a flight back home knowing fully well that you could possibly be infected. I wouldn't be surprised many didn't bother to take the test before coming. I am particularly worried about the unreported cases.

Hmm. Those 32 too would have gotten at least 32 contacts each. Maybe, one of those 32 attended Living Faith Church service last Sunday. He even dropped offering. Ushers that counted the offerings are also contacts. This year go rugged o. We need miracle cos I can't just fathom a way out of this mess for Nigeria. The joker NCDC says they are doing 25 tests per day. We hv zero medical systems. The government should engage all the traditional medicine people and virologist Professors. Who knows maybe God can glorify our lazy behind through this adversity (Gbogo fole). If advanced countries could be struggling, then we are in big trouble. I don't mean to scare anyone.

Business › Re: Nigeria Slashes Crude Selling Prices To Woo Buyers by saajus:
O ga o. We are not really an oil economy. PWC report says Nigeria officially receives an average of $25Billion remittances annually. Another $15Billion may be going on unofficially. Past 3 yrs, we average $22Billion annually from oil. So, are we truly an oil economy. The research was conducted by Andrew Nevin, a PWC top guy. The research chart shows the lower the oil price, the increase in remittances. The problem is that 90% of those $40Billion remittances from Nigerians in the diaspora go to the South because Northerners don't travel abroad. That's why the poverty rate in the South is 20% compare to 80% in the North. It is not because our Governors are better than their Northern counterparts. They are all corrupt and useless.
With this scenario, the low oil price will only put more pressure on the hardworking 17million Nigerians in the diaspora. You rarely see a family in the South that doesn't have a representative abroad. So you guys in the diaspora, brave up for our calls. Most of u guys are compassionate cos if u think of how u make money you won't send shinshi to anybody at home. u no go allow us to die na.
On the other hand, this will have a direct maximum impact on the North who only sustain on the national cake.
Politics › Re: Senators Worried Over COVID-19 Status Of 35 Colleagues by saajus:
So our Senators could be scared upon all the troop of police/military/bodyguard, bulletproof cars, private jets, and foreign medical access. One lesson I have learnt so far from this saga is that people/nations/organizations who think they are the most powerful are being humiliated. Who is talking of Soleimani death now? Who is talking of nuclear weapon? Who is talking of Iran vs the United States? Who is talking of trade deals? Almighty America that can enter your country without ur permission. Almighty America that can kill anyone they want to kill. Almighty America that spent 1 trillion dollars on military weapons in 1yr. Same Almighty America will run out of medical supplies in 2 weeks' time. Kabiyesi re Eledumare, we are mortals, You are immortal.
This plague will go but there are a lot of lessons to learn. We are all pencils in the hand of the creator.

I don't support abortion except if the pregnancy is life-threatening or deformed. But, if ur personal belief is not against it, make sure you use a professional so that your womb won't be damaged. If you use a cheap quack doctor and sth goes wrong, you may regret it for life. Can you confess to your sister first? Cos, guys could be selfish and I don't want that young boy to land u into the hands of a stupid Doctor. Both of you are young and inexperienced, talk to your sister.
