Adamu becareful. In an open contest no Northerner can win APC primaries. Ordinarily, a Northerner can't win presidential election in Nigeria without the support of South. Buhari lost three times before he got coalition from South. And mind you no Northerner enjoys cult following like Buhari yet he lost three times. So the Northern candidates should stop overrating themselves.
You guys from South West are really funny, did you just say no Northerner can win APC primaries? The North have the numbers, the South West is just 6 states against North 19 states.

What will stop a Northerner from getting the ticket, ooooo you think the Northern delegates will leave their brother and vote Tinubu? Remember what happened to Jonathan in PDP. The North don't betray their own.

I don't want to be arguing much about the APC primary election again. Very soon, Tinubu will humble his haters.
Hate Tinubu? That was how you people said we hated Buhari is 2015 just because we didn't support him.

Truly it is the Yoruba and especially the Yoruba Muslim that's okay politics if hate, I must not be on the same page with you, this is politics, you have your candidate, I have mine, atleast the Igbo's were vindicated in 2015 about Buhari.

In shaa Allah when Tinubu wins this election, he should declare with immediate alacrity Biafra as separate entity from Nigeria and dissect us from this cancer of a people.
Yoruba Muslim, Igbos hate no one, instead you should clear yourself if hate for Ndigbo, every Nigerian is allowed to support a candidate, we must not support Tinubu. And if you believe it is Yoruba time to get president in Nigeria, then maybe Igbo and Middle belt are not part of Nigeria.

Support your Tinubu without involving Igbo in your campaign.

Jonathan must decamp to APC, he will get the ticket and he will contest. I don't see anything stopping Jonathan from winning the 2023 elections.

The North will vote him 100 percent, South South will vote him, that's all that is needed, Buhari supports him, Tinubu will learn never to betray a fellow southerner next time.

This CBN Governor is as incompetent as the man he works for. Sure you wouldn't want to go for a floating exchange rate because that will be the end of Naira.

In Economic reality, a floating exchange rate is the best, but that will be Nigeria losing because we don't have any strength on the supply side of the international market because we supply only obsolete crude oil.

I remember this man together with Buhari shouting diversification since 2016, where is the diversified economy today.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Gives Condition To Join APC As NWC Consider Waivers by Saintinoo(m): 9:50am On Apr 23, 2022
PrinceOfLagos:
Former President Goodluck Jonathan will only be joining the All Progressives Congress presidential race on the condition that he is endorsed by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), Saturday PUNCH has learnt.

Anything short of this would not be acceptable to Jonathan who served as deputy governor, governor, Vice-President and President on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party from 1999 and 2015.

Saturday PUNCH had reported in February that some northern emirs had reached out to the former President, asking him to contest. Jonathan had also stayed away from activities of the PDP, including the last national convention.

Former Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State had also stated that it was unlikely that Jonathan was still a member of the PDP as he was no longer involved in the party’s activities.

On Thursday, however, posters of the ex-President flooded the national secretariat of the APC on Blantyre Street, Wuse 2.

On Friday, youth and women groups demonstrated outside of Jonathan’s office in the Maitama area of Abuja.

The demonstrators, who arrived in five large buses, held up placards some of which read, ‘Jonathan, Please Run’, ‘Jonathan, do the needful’, ‘Jonathan for 2023’, ‘Jonathan Declare Now’ and ‘Goodluck Please Come Back, We Love You’.

A spokesman for the group, Mayor Samuel, who is also the Convener of the Youth Compatriots of Nigeria, said, “We were deceived and brainwashed by those who claimed they could do it in 2015.

“Now, we know better, under Jonathan the minimum wage could buy one or two bags of rice. What do we have today? We are begging President Jonathan to forgive us, we have realised our mistakes; we want him back to complete what he started.”

Jonathan subsequently invited the leaders of the protesters for a private meeting. After the brief meeting, the ex-President addressed the demonstrators outside, advising the youths to run for office instead, adding that the constitution had been amended as far back as 2018 in order to give youths a chance to contest.

The ex-President said he was not sure if he would run. He, however, asked them to ‘watch out’.

“Yes you are calling me to come and declare for the next election, I cannot tell if I’m declaring. The political process is ongoing just watch out. The key role you must play is that Nigeria must get somebody that will carry young people along,” the former President added.

However, a top source in the APC told Saturday PUNCH that the former President was seeking an assurance that he would be handed the party’s Presidential ticket.

The APC chieftain, who wished to remain anonymous, said, “Jonathan has already been President before. So, the APC cannot offer him anything except the Presidential ticket. Imagine him contesting against Osinbajo and Tinubu and losing? Wouldn’t that be disgraceful?

“So, he has made his position clear. If he is to come to the APC, he must be given the assurance that he will be given the party’s ticket. That is his demand.”

The source added that the former President may be sold as a “compromise candidate” amid the raging zoning debate in the country.

“Jonathan is the only Nigerian alive that can promise to serve only one Presidential term and abide by it because he is limited by the constitution. If he serves one term, then power returns to the North. It is also not an easy decision but I can assure you that President Buhari will have no qualms with a Jonathan Presidency,” he added.

Meanwhile, it was learnt that the APC National Working Committee would give special waivers to select aspirants based on the powers conferred on it by the National Executive Committee.

Section 31.3 of the new APC constitution titled ‘waiver’, reads in part, “Subject to the approval of the National Executive Committee, the National Working Committee may, in special circumstances, grant a waiver to a person seeking a national party office, who is otherwise not qualified under this constitution if, in its opinion, such a waiver is in the best interest of the party.

“Subject to the approval of the National Executive Committee, the National Working Committee may, in special circumstances, grant a waiver to a person seeking the office of President, Vice President, governor, deputy governor, senator, member of the House Representatives, who is otherwise not qualified under this constitution if, in its opinion, such a waiver is in the best interest of the party.”

The Nigerian constitution and the Electoral Act state that anyone contesting a presidential election must be a member of a political party which will sponsor him as a candidate. However, both the constitution and the Electoral Act do not prohibit non-party members from participating in a primary.

However, a member of the party’s NEC told Saturday PUNCH that waivers would be on a case-by-case basis.

Jonathan’s Spokesman, Ikechukwu Eze, did not respond to calls.

This is not coming as a shock to me because I have known this since last year. If you stay in the North, you will know the next president of Nigeria, and if GEJ accept their offer, there comes the next president of Nigeria.

PrinceOfLagos:
Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday reacted to calls that he should run for the 2023 Presidency.

Jonathan said he can’t tell if he will run for the Presidency in 2023.

He disclosed this while addressing some supporters who besieged his office in Abuja, asking him to run for the Presidency in 2023.

According to Jonathan: “I cannot tell if I’m contesting.”

Hundreds of supporters, including women and youth groups, stormed Jonathan’s office, asking him to contest for President in 2023.

The supporters arrived at the office with a musical band around 8:50 a.m.

They lamented that hunger, insecurity, and unemployment, among others, have become the order of the day since he left office.

The supporters said that both men and women have turned to beggars because of the unfavourable policies of the present administration.

WhizdomXX:
Osibanjo is Tinubu's last card in this game. Tinubu knows that Buhari doesn't care about any of them. This so called "rift" is a ploy by Tinubu so that Buhari will finally settle on the VP as APC'z consensus candidate. Tinubu learnt from the recently concluded APC National Convention that Buhari actually calls the shot in APC today no matter the Billion vans or "Yoruba National Leader". He doesn't want to lose out on both sides and that's why Osibanjo is contesting. Believe me, they've planned this strategy along time ago. Tinubu's declaration was just to test the waters if he could earn it outrightly in repayment for his efforts. But seeing that the fulanis cabals want to play a fast one on him he has played his Trump card, Osibanjo. By the end of next month everything will be revealed.

Mark this post.
And yes I will vote Yemi Osibanjo over Atiku A.
Both were VPs and one has even more blame for the many stolen resources under his watch.
Proud Deltan.
You started making sense before you confused everything. The North and Buhari will never allow Tinubu or anybody from the southwest in APC become president because they believe that Tinubu owns southwest APC.

Believe me you, the shock which the North and Buhari are planning, only the strong can take it, it will come like a tsunami. Go to the North and hear public opinion, this has already been planned.

Their no 1 choice right now is GEJ and if he refuse the offer, they Will get an angel from the North who is loved by both South and North, if that fails, they will rather rig the elections for their candidate.

In the North, every Mallam is shouting Jonathan Jonathan, they love him now just because they see him as a sure way of getting back power after 4 years.

For some time on this forum, I have been telling people how prepared the vice president yemi osinbajo was, but not too many believed me, some even called me comedian because, they think osinbajo is a political novice, despite knowing fully well he is a PROFESSOR and a SAN for that matter, let me just believe either they are too young or they are just naive! Let me talk about the primaries coming up in apc, most people think Buhari is going to impose someone in the name of consensus, but I don't think so, there is a topic I created concerning why that will not work out in apc as of today, having said that many people also believe if apc primaries either direct or indirect that asiwaju tinubu will coast home to victory easily they have right to think that way, after all he is the jagaban, but let me burst you guys bubble, both direct or indirect form of primary whichever one the party adopts next month, osinbajo will win with landslide, I will highlight my reasons here, either you believe it or not tinubu does not have more than 7 states decided on his mandate, you might not believe this, it will be review in the coming weeks, let me give you a hint, the whole of ss and se states, no one is sure for him, both in delegates and direct primaries, and that is 11 states, in the South West, he has lagos, osun for a keep, ondo, ekiti are swing states, while ogun and oyo are for osinbajo. In the northern states asiwaju has, sokoto, kano for keep, with about other 3 which is 60:40 for him, and all others forget it. The only state important for osinbajo to have in sw is ogun state which he has gotten, because it will be a political suicidal if he does not. I know many people will say what about other aspirants, anyway I will not underate anyone, my permutation is in consideration if the battle go down between tinubu and osinbajo, Umahi will surely follow the presidency should incase he drops his ambition likewise Amaechi and yaya bello. Another reason osinbajo will win is if buhari gives him the power to use, like how he summoned the governors to a meeting, and asiwaju could only begged for the audience of the governors, with the permission of the president osinbajo can decide to invite adamu the apc chairman to his office, hell will not fall, if he uses his power as a VP the doubting Thomases will have different opinion for sure. Thanks
OP I think you are the one who is young to understand Nigeria politics, good that the Yoruba people are selling their candidates in person of Tinubu and Osibanjo but have the king makers and owners of Nigeria settled for these candidates of yours?

The North who own Nigeria might have other options and from their body language and unusual silence you should know that they are cooking up a surprise.

On whether Osibanjo is fit enough to be President or APC presidential flag bearer, I personally don't believe in him. thesame man who handled Nigeria economy for 7 years whose only Economic policy was sharing of 10k to 30k to less than 20 percent of the population.

Nigeria is suffering the worst inflation in its history thanks to Osibanjo office.

If the Yoruba want to the presidency, then they should support a marketable candidate, being a professor and a SAN doesn't mean that one is competent enough.
