@ Salamander,
I guess you have used 53x or 63x before.If yes, is there any significant signal improvement using the 4669x compared to those two especially on SABC(1,2,3) cband assuming everything is the same(i.e same dish,lnb etc)?
I could hazard an answer that there is about 5% improvement of the 69x over the two you mentioned. It is also very sharp in terms of picking up signal.

Those using the 69x I need a second opinion on this.

I received over 100 channels. These are the birds I nailed

From the East
Intelsal 7/10 @ 68.5 Ku and few C band because I'm using dielectric
Intelsat 902 @ 62 C
Intelsat 904 @ 64 C
Arabsat 2B @ 30 C
Astra 2B @ 28.2 Ku
Eutelsat W6 @ 21.6 Ku
Eutelsat W3A @ 7 Ku
Sirius4 @ 4.8 Ku

West
Intelsat 10-02 @ 1 C
Atlantic Bird3 @ 5
Intelsat 901 @ 18 C
NSS 7 @ 22 C and Ku
Intelsat 905 @24.5 C
Intelsat 907 @ 27.5 C and Ku

@Salamander,

What is the signal quality for your SABC(1,2,3) on intel 902(cband) and dish size,receiver type etc.I use 1.8m dish with53x but only citizen with 52-56% comes on that bird for me.Thanks
I have 2.4m mesh with Strong LNB for C band and Fuji for Ku. I have SRT 4669 and the signal quality for SABC is 60%. and Citizen is around 59%. You are missing NTV and Cartoon Network because they are Mpeg-4.

The SRT4910 is the latest model and more expensive than the 4669x. As I said, from the beginning, it all about if you want to spend more. However regarding drop in signal, I believe you have to check your setup. It could be that you have to tweak your lnb a bit.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by salamander(m): 3:13pm On Oct 21, 2009
@Candyman

I believe since you are going to Dubai, it will be a lot easier to check the market there and might be a bit cheaper, just a thought. Depends on how much you want to spend, if you could get the SRT 4910, the better if not settle for the 4669x

I don't think i'm ready to make that investment on badr and nilesat yet. Besides my landlord won't permit me to mount those big dishes. I hv a lot to learn from u though!
Just get ur landlord a Mutitv box for free, lol. Anyway, I was not thinking of you having them. 'We' normally have a place that we do our experiments. Let's see if we can revive our Ghana group so we can set a date for that. Sathob, Ecowas, Captainus, over to you!

I don't think the Strong receiver on the Ghanaian market is the SRT 4910. My check reveals that it a kind of customised version SRT 4669x Plus, which does not have multi-media interface. I stand to be corrected, but it is not a fully Mpeg-4 receiver.

I have read all the post in this section with great interest.

I agree in totality with Emeka_gh on the issue of transportation. I believe it is always easier and safer to come with ABC and the allied transport companies.

We will love to encourage such interactions. It is only Nigerians that can change the perceptions people have for them. I always admire the effort by the Nigerian ambassador in Ghana in the drive to in that direction.

Keep it up good people of Nairaland!
